We've got us a Walken! This week, the guys talk all about the Tarantino-esque thriller Suicide Kings. What's up with all the Dennis Leary monologues about shoes? How many different endings did this go through? Is Christopher Walken as a "young man" in this film one of the most ridiculous, lazy things ever? And for the love of God, enough with all the twists! Next week: we're a modern stone-age family. It's movies like this that make me love the 90s. The ability to make multi genre horror thrillers with a domestic medical drama and demon afterlife subplot is unmatched. I was searching for something to review in October and this has been on my list forever, mostly for the stacked cast. I went in knowing nothing and this was nothing short of a wild ride. I mean Jeff Goldblum as the dad and Alicia Silverstone as the bratty daughter should be reason alone for you to see this. Within the first half of the movie we have demon possession, chunky sweaters, a car accident, and a Pearl Jam reference. Again we have the Pacific Northwest as a backdrop cause (duh, its the 90s) and a very weird and unexplainable Jeremy Sisto.Off-topic rants include: Buffy parallels and Alicia Silverstone being THAT girl in the 90s---Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the Patreon! Young and Amy Matthews. It tells the story of a prostitute (Chenoweth) who confesses to a Catholic priest (Sisto) that she plans to kill herself on her birthday. The priest attempts to find and save her, and in doing so plunges himself into a darker side of society. The film was partially inspired by Coyle's father, a kind but belligerent man who had considered becoming a priest in his early life. The script won the McKnight Screenwriting Fellowship from the IFP Minnesota Center for Media Arts. Into Temptation was filmed and set in Coyle's hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Several supporting roles were filled with actors from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul theater area, and Coyle himself performed in a supporting role.It was produced by Ten Ten Films and Farnam Street II, and distributed by First Look International. With a budget of less than $1 million, filming began in May 2008. Cinematography was provided by David Doyle, Russell Holsapple composed the score, and Lee Percy worked as editor. The film touches on themes of temptation, sin, good and evil, redemption and celibacy, as well as the boundaries between a priest providing counsel and getting personally involved with helping parishioners.Into Temptation was optioned in Hollywood, but talks fell through due to complications from the global recession. The film did not receive a national release but played at theaters in several cities. Although first publicly shown for Coyle's father in December 2008, Into Temptation officially premiered on April 26, 2009, at the Newport Beach Film Festival, where Sisto won the "Outstanding Achievement in Acting" award. Eric from Bloody Good Horror joins Caitlin to cover May, a cult classic from 2002. Many of us - for better or worse - have related to May at some point. She's an often-overlooked icon of the monstrous feminine, and we wanted to give her her due. We talk about themes of isolation, identity, and being an outsider, and we look at symbols around dolls and fragmentation. Tangents include: BGH origins, college loneliness, shoveling snow, favorite films, gangster movies, desert island books, songs of the moment, vampire universes, sleep sounds, scenes that made us horror fans, tea, and feet. Be sure to check out Bloody Good Horror and HY-FY! And remember: if you can't find a friend, make one.

We've joked about Keri Russell's limited role in Mission Impossible III long enough that it's only fair to bring one of her starring roles to the show. Critics went ga-ga for WAITRESS, an indie darling that romanticizes small-town infidelity and fetishizes pie-making, so that makes it the perfect target for The Contrarians' gimmick! Listen to Alex, Julio, and special guest Rachel from YUM YUM PODCAST, as they wonder if there's anything in this film that can make up for Jeremy Sisto's awfulness and Nathan Fillion's lax morals.TIMELINE00:01:16 Waitress00:21:45 Contrarians Corner- Wanna know how we really feel about WAITRESS? In 1996 David co-starred in the movie White Squall. This podcast is the reunion of that film. Jeff Bridges, Ryan Phillippe, Jeremy Sisto, Scott Wolf, Ethan Embry and Balthazar Getty ALL join David and Christine as they re-tell their tales of filming the movie. Drugs, electrocution, smuggling, hook-ups, stolen props and so much more. Unlike the voyage in the film, this reunion…is anything but ill-fated. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The duo unpack the trauma of being a young teen girl with a hip hot mom, the hotness of Jeremy Sisto, and the pros of shoplifting for girls! It's a tough episode for Zach but smooth sailing for Sloane who essentially lived this movie and calls it a comfort film. Because she needs lots of professional help, hopefully soon! Set right down the street from Monica's place with an aggressive lesbian for Chelsea and some blood play for Sydney, it really seems like Lucky McKee's indie flick was tailored exactly to Spooky Tuesday's tastes — well, almost. Starring Angela Bettis, Jeremy Sisto, and Anna Faris, this horror has an ending that could make us forgive pretty much any other misstep. “Mothers, lock up your sons!” We watched Thirteen (2003) with our friend Donovan Marcotte and we're still clutching our pearls. Your wanna feel like a granny, out of touch with the kids these days? Watch this movie. Catherine Hardwicke directed this groundbreaking indie from a script she co-wrote with then teenage Nikki Reed (The Twilight Saga). Evan Rachel Wood and Reed play best friends wrapped up in the unparalleled drama of teenage friendship - where every decision you made was life or death. And some of these outfits are to die for. We're talking early Avril Lavigne levels of safety pins, cutouts and stripes. Holly Hunter knocks it out of the park (per usual) as Wood's put upon mom and Jeremy Sisto is dreamy as ever. We must be getting old - we're rooting for the parents and just want to shake these girls and tell em to SNAP OUT OF IT!
