In this Random February episode of Slashers Podcast, Mikey, Lance, and Ade dig into prehistoric terror, debating whether dinos still hold up as horror icons from Jurassic Park to Carnosaur and beyond, we break down what makes these creatures terrifying—or not.But that's not all! We also snack on some Little Bites (both literally and figuratively), sharing bite-sized horror topics, wild tangents, and unhinged takes. Plus, test your horror knowledge as we dive into a round of Horror Trivia—who will reign supreme, and who will be dino-chow?Join us for another chaotic, horror-filled episode, and let us know—are dinosaurs scary?
Byrd sits down with author Joseph Palinkas to discuss his new recent History of Carnosaur. The book covers the history of the franchise, which was launched by Roger Corman to cash in on Jurassic Park. We talk about the conception of the book, the background of the Carnosaur films, living through the post-Jurassic Park dino-boom of the 90s, the complicated rights issues keeping the films from rediscovery, differences between the film and the original Carnosaur novel and how we feel the films hold up today. Relax and join the conversation!
Our main feature is MadS. We're also reviewing Daddy's Head, Trap, Creepy Crawly, Demons, Hysteria!, Carnosaur 2, and Demon Seed.
Our main feature is Azrael. We're also reviewing Trap, Daddy's Head, The Mind's Eye, The Revenge of Frankenstein, Carnosaur, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie, St Johns River Monster by Armand Rosamilia, The Thing in the Woods by Gary Frank, and The Running Grave by Robert Galbraith.
Saurian cinema connoisseur Serge Bodnarchuk of Cold Crash Pictures joins Dan as guest co-host for a dinosaur sci-fi horror adventure from 1993. No, not that one. This is Movie Oubliette! It's the low-budget Roger Corman production Carnosaur, starring Laura Dern's mom, Diane Ladd, and Bryce Dallas Howard's uncle, Clint Howard! This adaptation of John Brosnan's novel hit 65 theatres a few weeks before Spielberg's blockbuster romped into box office history. Featuring astonishing special effects from Troll director John Carl Buechler, this alleged mockbuster is without doubt the scrappy underdog, but is it a charming creature feature that deserves to be rescued? Roger Corman takes a swing at an Aliens ripoff only this time it's DINOSAURS! However without a team of bad ass Space Marines and Ellen Ripley, the cast drunkenly stumbles through their lines (literally in one case) and fails in spectacular fashion. One fantastic gory scene, a few dummy falls and off-camera grips throwing body parts at on-camera actors makes the film tolerable. Barely. We also drug Josh from The Evil Deaths back out to help cover this birthday pick for Nate's triumphant return!!!
Jeremy and Boss lick their wounds, believe what they see on television, decide to watch Carnosaur, and wonder about Roger Ebert's thumbs as they discuss Joe D'Amato's Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals.
It's another listener suggested episode for the Sequel-A-Thon and this time I'm looking at the Roger Corman produced Carnosaur 2! What secrets are hiding at the government mining operation? Actor, producer and director Raphael Sbarge joins us to revisit the origins of his 40+ year career in the entertainment industry. Starting with a role on Sesame Street, Raphael has been in some of our favorite 80s flicks: Vision Quest, Risky Business, and My Science Project. He also answers our listeners' questions about Werewolf (because of course), 1993's Carnosaur, how the film industry has changed and stayed the same, his favorite soundtracks, and navigating the world of being a child actor. More recently, Raphael directed a documentary about the history of the iconic arthouse cinema chain, Laemmle Theatres called "Only in Theaters". Check it out here! Hi friends, Pete here. So...I'm told we recorded an episode covering Carnosaur. I love this stupid movie but it appears that my evil twin Blete slipped me a mickey and took over in my absence. I don't take any responsibility for his actions and Blete has been captured and returned to the asylum from whence he came. Even Josh from The Evil Deaths didn't know what to do with Blete. Any questions, concerns or cries of outrage and be directed to the Give Me Back My HR Department at Charlie@gmbmahm.com. Thank you for your patience while we work this out.
"Human beings are the worst." This week our theme is mockbusters as Alexis and Kevin look at the much-maligned 1993 Jurassic Park ripoff Carnosaur.
We talk about the sequel, CARNOSAUR (1995), to the 1993 cult film CARNOSAUR. Here us out and hear what we thought of it.

"The earth was not made for us. She was made for the dinosaurs." Join us as we discuss Roger Corman's Carnosaur! We talk about Corman's intention to ride the "Jurassic Park Wave", the use of hand puppets, human-dinosaur birthing and MUCH MORE!
In the interim between The Lost World Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, no one was really clamoring for another visit to the amusement park for which the franchise was named. So what's a movie studio starved for a successful movie to do? How about make a 90 minute chase movie. Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they dive right into director Joe Johnston's third sequel that is about as derided as the Carnosaur film the boys discussed while reviewing the first film. But as teased last week, Matt considers this his favorite of the franchise, and Adam hadn't seen it before this review. What do they all think? Download the latest Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast for not only their review of Jurassic Park III, but also let everyone know what the boys are starting next week. Jurassic Park really screwed up when they chose to use CGI instead of hand puppets. Luckily Carnosaur was there to remedy that mistake. I'd go out on a limb and say that this is the best puppet based movie about Diane Ladd creating a virus that impregnates women with dinosaur eggs. Join Matt and Tristan for a movie that redefined what could be done with forced perspective rubber dinosaurs for an entire generation, Carnosaur.

Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about why this movie even exists, the business savvy of one Roger Corman, the career choices of one Diane Ladd, doing practical effects on the cheap, our nostalgic connection to video store schlock and of course, how Carnosaur connects to Spielberg's juggernaut! A film 65 Million years minus 7 months in the making, Roger Corman's CARNOSAUR made us all believe dinosaurs could be puppets.
