https://youtu.be/xu8FrQEJLHI?si=F2ne2UvWI4vNYFiO (1) RECLAIMING YOUR HEALTH     Food is a very touchy subject. I get it. I grew up in a culture where pretty much everything was a sin, EXCEPT eating. It was all we could do, and we did it enthusiastically! (2) But now we are living with the consequences. Just listen to the prayer requests in any given church. The majority is for sicknesses and illnesses. And most of it is for chronic disease that we have brought on ourselves: heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, memory loss, cancer, and the list goes on. Most of these are preventable diseases.     So the big questions is this: Why do we avoid talking about food and health and how it affects us? When information is presented to us, why do we ignore, laugh, or dismiss the information? The answer is simple…we don't want to hear. Health is not dealt with in the church. We think God will take care of me, He's got this. And we keep doing what everyone else is doing.  (3) Romans 12:1 says to present your bodies a living sacrifice….”living” means be among the living, enjoy real life, active, fresh, strong, efficient. Holy, acceptable, meaning well pleasing, fully agreeable. We can't help the body of Christ if we don't take the time to take care of ourselves. We need to be able to function in the capacity that God has called us to.     We are in a war, both physical and spiritual. There are two types of people in a war…..Those who are sucked into it without realizing. Think of the Jews led into the camps. And those who are aware of what's going on around them and are ready to respond….Think of Pearl Harbor. There was no denying war that day.     One way to stop an enemy is to make them believe they are not in a fight. The enemy is a deceiver. The Bible calls him a lion seeking whom he may devour. Who does the lion attack….the one who is not paying attention. He deceives us into thinking everything is ok.     And that is what is happening in the war for our health. It's called the Great American Food Fraud.     You may say, “What's the big deal? I ate fast food, candy, etc, growing up and I turned out ok.” The food that we grew up with in the 70's and 80's is NOT the same food on the shelves today. McDonald's fries used to have 3 ingredients: potatoes, beef tallow, salt. Now they have 12 ingredients! (4) The truth is we can't eat those same foods and neither should our kids. The truth is that the foods we buy in America are completely different from the same food bought in almost every other country.  Why? The chemicals, ingredients and dye are not allowed in their food. That's why you can take a trip to another country, like Italy, eat all their pasta, and feel fine and probably not even gain weight on your trip.     Food has become a science. A very precise, targeted, science. That box of cereal, bag of chips, soda, or whatever it may be, has had a considerable amount of time and money spent on it being studied, developed, tested, and advertised. All with one goal in mind: to get you to buy it. Not just once, but over and over again. The goal is not to make it nourishing for your body, but to get you hooked on the flavor by any means possible. That includes adding chemicals, sugar, artificial colors, forever chemicals, and anything else to appeal to your appetite. (5) I John talks about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It's almost like the advertising companies read the Bible!  (6) In the early 90's, the American Dietetic Association was funded by Sara Lee, M&M's, and McDonalds. Today it's even worse.     So who is behind all this? (7) The kids of the 80's were the last generation to grow up without social media. During that time, the Tobacco companies saw the writing on the wall, that the truth was coming out that smoking caused cancer. They had the best marketing machine. They could market to adults and make them buy something that was not good for them. Remember the Marlboro Man? Camel Joe?

This week, Chris Cyr joins the Idiots. 00:00 Introductions 00:37 The Debate 10:50 The Squad 21:56 Disney 28:13 Corporate Vigilance 31:38 Online Fraud 32:54 Josh Duggar —Is Rex Huppke the dumbest man on the planet? Maybe. Rex posted an opinion piece on June 25th, several days before the first presidential debate. His take? Trump was going to chicken out, and not attend. Well guess what? That didn't happen. Here's a hot take: instead of posting hot takes, allow events to occur, and then report on them. Isn't that what the news is supposed to be, a summation of daily happenings? From that stepping off point—mocking Rex Huppke—the idiots (and Chris) discuss what happened that fateful night. Biden was old and confused; Trump lied every time he opened his mouth. Which will be more alarming to voters? Lies and incompetence, or a stutter? We'll find out in November. —Oh, Jamaal Bowman, we hardly knew ye.  The Squad, the famous group of insane members of Congress who fight for supposed moral justice more than they do the economic benefit of all, lost the fire alarm pulling, shirt waving, insane Jamaal Bowman.  Voters in New York's 16th District gave George Latimer a shot at the seat, causing AOC to blame $25 million in ad buys, not the fact Bowman probably wasn't the best fit for the job. Because reality should never pierce the veil of delusion, should it? (Hint: it was probably his Anti-Semitism and bizarre stance on Israel that lost him the seat.) —This gets a little messy, but stay with us… Disney fired actress Gina Carano, because she didn't align with them politically. And they said so. Publicly. So now Gina is suing Disney for wrongful termination. Seems pretty cut and dried, right? Well… Since the God-awful Supreme Court of 2010, which in retrospect might have been somehow better than the compete dumpster fire of a SCOTUS we have today, handed down Citizens United, corporations are people. Which means Disney has a right to free speech of its own. But seriously, all they had to do is shut up. Gina Carano is a block of wood. Her acting should have spoken for itself here. —The United States is a sue-happy country. People file lawsuits at the drop of a hat, which is absurd.  So, corporations are fighting back, and one way they're covering their bases is by warning consumers about items not even in their product. Why? Just to be safe. The FDA, for some reason, has an issue with this. Look, government… You can't have it both ways. You don't get to let swindlers sue anyone, at any time, and not give people a way to guard against that. Sara Lee and Entenmann's took a creative approach to warning labels, and the Idiots approve. —Go big or go home? No! Go small and succeed!  The Idiots often talk about the dumbest people on the planet, those who fall for easily verified online scams to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars…  Well, “Paul Schwartz” of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (not really) is making bank $600 at a time. He doesn't string people along, he just takes the cash and runs. Well done, “Paul.” (And everyone out there: verify, verify, verify, before giving anyone online any money.) —Josh Duggar is a horrible human being for many, many reasons. I mean, most of the Duggar family is. (Thanks, Jim Bob and Michelle. You really put some awful out there into the world.) But Josh, he's not just awful, he's a convicted criminal, and not for something small, like petty theft. Not. Josh was into children. In the worst way. Well, when you're a criminal with a healthy ego, everything you do should be a-ok with the world, right? Criminal conviction because you're a pervert? Pfft, that's not fair, I'm Josh Duggar! So he asked the Supreme Court to overturn (or at least examine) his case. Hilarious. Idiots on Parade: we mock the news, so you don't have to. Tune in and get your giggle on. Irwin Michnick, the Brooklyn-born son of a Jewish furrier from Ukraine, was a jazz musician who wrote radio commercials and advertising jingles for companies like L & M cigarettes and Ken-L Ration dog food.Bob Levenson was a copywriter at Doyle Dane Bernbach who needed a tune to go with the words, “Everybody doesn't like something, but nobody doesn't like Sara Lee.” Irwin Michnick got the call. But it was a different call that led to Irwin Michnik winning a Tony Award and the Contemporary Classics Award from the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Placido Domingo, and more than 70 other superstars of music have recorded the song that Michnik wrote.Josh Groban included it on his 2020 album, Harmony.Aretha Franklin sang it at the funeral of civil rights activist Rosa Parks.Senator Edward Kennedy asked that it be sung at his funeral, as well. And it was.The song teaches us that passion does not create commitment, but that commitment creates passion. It is a song that teaches us that we can achieve the miraculous only if we are willing to attempt the ridiculous.Do you remember the Ze Frank quote I shared with you last week? The one where Ze talks about how the hero throws himself into battle against impossible odds, fiercely pushing, shoulders back, despite the knowledge that he can't win, that he will die in the end?Irwin Michnik wrote the music and Joe Darion wrote the words. It is the theme song of Wizard Academy, that school for entrepreneurs and ad writers and educators and ministers and researchers and every other agent-of-change who has become infected with an impossible dream.Do you remember the song now? Of course you do. It starts like this, “To dream the impossible dream; to fight the unbeatable foe; to bear with unbearable sorrow; to run where the brave dare not go.”You probably don't remember Irwin Michnik because he was known professionally as Mitch. Mitch Leigh.I'll bet you can guess what Indy Beagle has for you in the rabbit hole.In other news about impossible dreams, last week I bought an extremely old copy of the book Miguel de Cervantes wrote that inspired the song by Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion.Perhaps I'll tell you about it after the beginning of the year.Ciao for Niao,Roy H. Now, Uzair tells roving reporter Rotbart, he can help other businesses cut their costs up to 60% by following his model. Faylene Grant's death could have been many things. It could have been an accident. It could have been a suicide. It could have been cold-blooded murder. It could have been the result of emotional manipulation at the hands of her husband, Doug Grant. It was difficult to say for certain what led to the drowning death of 35-year-old Faylene Grant. But when her husband remarried just three weeks after Faylene died, it raised some eyebrows. Then Kristin tells us a truly vomitrocious story. At its peak, the Peanut Corporation of America produced peanuts, peanut butter and peanut powder for major food conglomerates like Sara Lee, Kelloggs and General Mills. They supplied peanut butter to hospitals, nursing homes and schools. Over the years, their profits soared. But their factories were unsanitary. Their workers were badly paid. Worst of all, the people in charge didn't care about whether the food that they sent all over the country was safe to consume. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: The episode of American Greed, “From Peanuts to Sick Millions” “The rise and fall of a peanut empire,” by Lyndsey Layton and Nick Miroff for NBC News “PCA prison terms put industry on notice about accountability,” by Kathy Holliman for foodqualityandsafety.com “Praise for an unlikely whistleblower,” by Darin Detwiler for Food Safety News “Michael Parnell's attorney paints him as the ‘little guy' in the PCA case,” by Dan Flynn for Food Safety News “Unprecedented verdict: Peanut executive guilty in deadly salmonella outbreak,” by Moni Basu for CNN “Former peanut executive sentenced to 28 years in prison,” by Brady Dennis for the Washington Post In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “A Divine Death” episode A Wedding and a Murder “Fatal Visions” episode Dateline “Mormon Widower Doug Grant Wasn't Counting on a Murder Rap When He Followed His Late Wife's Instruction to Marry His Ex-Lover” by Paul Rubin, Phoenix New Times “Doug Grant Gets Five Years After Slain Wife's Sister Pressed for His Conviction Based on a Dream” by Paul Rubin, Phoenix New Times “Grant v. Grant” casetext.com “Woman sues over mom's 2001 drowning” by Gary Grado, East Valley Tribune YOU'RE STILL READING? My, my, my, you skeezy scunch! You must be hungry for more!
