In this episode, Mike talks with Craig Sybert, Senior Systems Consultant at Envolve Media and Producer/Creator of the Music Musing Podcast. They discuss creativity and its importance in the workplace. Key Takeaways: You can be creative, but unless you have the basics, you can’t really starting playing with it and creating. Creativity helps you think things through deeper than the surface level In order to be creative in a certain field, you need to keep up with the current trends. Knowing your audience is definitely one of the things you have to do in order to pick the right tool. Everyone has an interest in something. The creative side comes out if you put the passion that you have for that hobby or that thing you like into creating a different way of looking at that or a different way of experiencing that. Creativity is not something everyone chooses to show or chooses to put out into the world. Creativity gets lost if you don’t know the tool well. Have people question you and challenge you to do something different. Go to a conference in your field and talk to people. In this episode we had guest Craig Sybert, an Adobe Connect and Adobe Captivate Prime expert over at Envolvemedia. We wanted to get some real talk from Craig, and hear what he liked and didn't like about Adobe Captivate Prime. It was a great conversation that covered why Prime may or may not be right for you. What stood out most to me was the integrative capabilities of the LMS, especially with Connect and Captivate. But give it a listen. It's well worth hearing some honest conversation about this LMS and how it might fit in to your L&D plans. Enjoy the episode!
Call centers, food service, retail sales, catering - all places our community has picked up skills that have helped lead them to instructional design, skills that are sometimes called upon to do their jobs in L&D. Quite a few guests with host Kristen Hayden Safdie in this one - including a live chicken. So give this episode a listen and you'll surely reflect on your own helpful "non instructional design" skills. Featuring guests Cara North, Simon Blair, Kim Lindsey, Sam Rogers, Craig Sybert, and Katie Stroud.
Welcome to Music Musing! My name is Craig Sybert and my brother George Sybert and I co-host this podcast. George and I would frequently call each other and throw out a conversation title and ramble on for 45 minutes or so, sometimes taking tangents and sometimes staying focused on the subject. The podcast idea started after a call to my brother with the statement “Is Boston the best rock band ever?”. After our conversation, I got the idea to start recording these conversations and share them with the world. I had a background in voice over work and audio editing, so it was a natural progression. We are rock and metal guys, but we were also brought up listening to folk, disco, and gospel. Our first few episodes were a little rough on the quality, but stick with it, they get much better! We are not looking to make money off this podcast, but we do offer a Patreon if you want to help us with the day to day expenses like recording equipment or platform costs. The Patreon is patreon.com/musicmusing What we really want is your interaction. We love to talk music and that doesn’t stop at us, we like to hear all opinions and input. Email us at musicmusingfeedback@gmail.com. We also love to hear show ideas and guest suggestions as well! Lastly, please leave us a review on whatever platform you listen to our podcast on. There are a lot of podcasts out there and to get ours out into the mix, we need reviews so that others who will appreciate it can find it easily. You can find us on: Twitter at @MusicMusing_ Instagram at music_musing On our home page, musicmusing.libsyn.com You can also find us on YouTube and pretty much any other platform where you find podcasts. If we missed your favorite, let us know and we will get it out there. Thank you again for your time and we hope you like this podcast!
There are currently 249 people living in Vaughnsville, Ohio. Today on TLDCast, we had two former residents of that small town, both of them now Learning and Development Professionals. Andrew Hughes and Craig Sybert grew up with completely separate lives (although Craig’s father did date Andrew’s Aunt for a few months) and they discovered their common connection at an ATD conference, and have since managed to stay in touch here in The Training, Learning, and Development Community. Take a listen to their interesting stories, and hear about their childhood, how their roots affected their career choice, and how they evolved with technology as youngsters in Vaughnsville, OH, including what L&D was like then and now. *Lots of screen-sharing on this one, so make sure to check out the recording here to get the full discussion: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/082819 Designing Digitally, Inc. specializes in creating educational, engaging, and entertaining learning experiences that incorporate innovation, creativity, and gamification to enhance learner retention. Berk Reviews Movie Club episode 058 - Sleepless in Seattle The second episode of our February theme of Romantic Comedies continues with the 1993 classic Sleepless in Seattle. Neither Corey Starr (@coreyrstarr) nor Jonathan Berk (@berkreviews) had seen this, at least not as adults, so it made sense to add it to the list. The film is directed by Nora Ephron and stars Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, and Ross Malinger with some strong support from Bill Pullman and Rosie O'Donnell. Both were surprised at how the story unfolds in this film and mainly enjoyed it. But to find out exactly how much they liked it you'll need to listen to the episode. Before getting into their review, Jonathan and Corey discuss a recent interview episode that Jonathan recorded with Craig Sybert, music, and what movies they've watched since the last episode of Movie Club. Next weeks episode features a review of Larry Crown Corey picked the movie for episode 059, which will be Larry Crown (2011).
