Majestic Horses: Live at The Bearded Lady, West End, 16 November 2019 Majestic Horses are a three-piece led by Kellie Lloyd, a long-time lynchpin of the Brisbane music community who has played in such bands as White Mansions, Warm Guns, DEAFCULT and Screamfeeder. On record, Majestic Horses are made up of Lloyd on vocals and guitar, Andrew P Street on bass and Kate Wilson on drums. Howerver, due to each member living in a different state they have taken on many different incarnations when playing live. The set you'll hear in this episode featured Lloyd, Imogen Kowalczyk on bass and Nathan Crust on drums. In 2019 the Majestic Horses released their debut album, "Away From The Sun". Includes an interview with Kellie Lloyd. Recorded by Nell Forster & Scott Mercer Mixed by Jack B-Jones Special thanks to live engineer Nell Forster Show production, engineering and host: Scott Mercer Originally aired via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 22 August, 2021
Ancient Channels: Live at The Zoo, Fortitude Valley, 23 July 2020 In 2019 Kelly Hanlon from Terra Pines and DEAFCULT joined with Chris Preindl from Leavings, Apparitions and Vestiges to start a new musical project called Ancient Channels. With Hanlon on vocals, guitars and keyboards and Preindl handling drums and percussion, they recorded an album called "Moments In Ruin". While trickling out a string of singles ahead of the album's release, they recruited an all-star team to bring the multi-layered songs to life onstage, featuring talent from bands including A Country Practice, Start Together, The New Middle Class and Julia R. Anderson's band. In addition to Hanlon and Preindl, the full seven-piece lineup of Ancient Channels features Elise Clark on vocals, Gerard Lawrence on guitar, Joel and Kelly Saunders on keys and Imogen Kowalcyzk on bass. This set you're about to hear is notable for two reasons. First, it was the debut live performance of Ancient Channels, and second, it was the first gig to be recorded by Live Delay since the easing of restrictions on live music venues that came about as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Special safety precautions were in place at this gig, such as isolated, jazz club-style seating, reduced venue capacity and stringent cleaning measures before and after the show. Recorded by Scott Mercer Mixed by James Potts Special thanks to live engineer Steve Palmer Pale: Live at The Zoo, Fortitude Valley, 9 August 2019 In 1992 Tim Hills and Ben Thompson from the band The Modern Poets struck out on their own to form a new outfit called Pale. Soon joined by drummer Dale Rankine, their debut EP, "Submerged" was released on cassette later that year. This was followed by three further EPs on CD: "Fade Buzz" in 1994, "Felicia's Window" in 1995 and "Art Of Mind Control" in 1996. The single "Lemon Sparked", off "Fade Buzz", reached number 62 in the 1994 Triple J Hottest 100. Rankine ultimately left the trio and was replaced by Leigh Nelson from the bands Freeside and Tangled Shoelaces. In the late '90s Pale's members began exploring more and more side projects, and they eventually split in 2001 after the release of the album "Travelling Indoors". Since then they have reunited for special occasions in 2006, 2014 and most recently in 2019, at this gig you're about to hear, which featured both drummers from the band's history taking turns behind the kit. Recorded by James Fearn-Wannan Mixed by Harry McKenzie Special thanks to live engineer Steve Palmer This set was mixed by an audio production student from the School of Audio Engineering Institute Brisbane as part of their course. Show production, engineering and host: Scott Mercer Originally aired via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 25 October, 2020
C O L T S are an eclectic amalgamation of musicians with backgrounds spanning an array of genres. The group, formed in Brisbane, Australia features members of WAAX, YELLOWCATREDCAT, Pleasure Symbols, Finance, Average Art Club, Bcharre, FeelsClub and Rattus Rattus.C O L T S have a signature brand of alternative dream pop in which they blend a unique use of choral vocals with winding, interlocking guitars and confessional songwriting – often delving deep into issues of inclusivity and mental health within the industry. Drawing influence from bands such a DIIV, Beach Fossils, Slowdive and Deafcult, fans of grunge pop and shoegaze catharsis will not be left disappointed. With two singles of their 12 part ‘Calendar Collective’ series having been released earlier in the year – January and August – C O L T S have been exploring the depths of their sound; contrasting clever, interlocking and airy guitar lines with raw, powerful and intense vocals. Both singles received extensive media attention with additions to local playlists such as 4zzz’s Best New Local Music and international streaming playlists such as Apple Music’s Best of the Week and Alternative A list to name a few.Since their debut performance late last year, C O L T S have been captivating crowds with their energetic and immersive live sets that combine wet, guitar-heavy walls of sound with a driving rhythm section, delivered in a clean cut and easy to digest pop format. Having only a handful of shows under their belt as this project, C O L T S have still managed to sell out or pack every venue they have performed at thus far – sharing the bill with local Australian favourites such as Major Leagues, WHARVES and WAAX as well as international acts such as Mermaidens.Find Colts online:https://www.facebook.com/C-O-L-T-S-288529835201294/https://www.instagram.com/coltsmusic/https://open.spotify.com/track/1rOxUozywPXZMAdRAYNl7nhttps://youtu.be/jDWqFZ9WPGQSubscribe to us on ITUNES, STITCHER, SPOTIFY, or your podcatcher of choice.Find us on FACEBOOK or TWITTERFind out more about Yonder online at yonderfestival.comTheme music by Your Man Alex Smith find more of his work on Facebook, Bandcamp, Spotify & iTunes

In an unprecedented betrayal, this week host Ryan Sim takes on THE STRAIGHT EDGE. Guest JOSH HOWES gives a very lukewarm defense of the subculture, and mostly the two just talk about the Australian hardcore punk scene. Ryan was straight edge for a good 10 years and then he started comedy. Josh is still straight edge but he's also from Newcastle so all his friends are on Ice, and he doesn't want to alienate them by denouncing their life choices. All in all, this episode is just two old friends reminiscing on the scene that shepherded them into adulthood, for better or worse. Josh manages the bands Cursed Earth, Easy Life and Deafcult so go buy their records and tickets to their shows.

"Formed in in 2015, the members of DEAFCULT came together after playing in much-loved Brisbane bands TheGifthorse, Nuclear Summer and Roku Music. Following the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2015, they scored the standing of Independent Artist of the Week on FBi Radio, with Happy noting “a rawness to their sound that is reminiscent of the early days of Sonic Youth.” Having moved through personnel changes, the sextet have now solidified their line-up, consisting of Innez Tulloch (Vocals, guitars), Stevie Scott (Vocals, guitars, synth), Kelly Hanlon (Guitars), Matt Bach (Guitars), Allan McGregor (Bass) and Nathan Crust (Drums), and have joined forces with Adelaide label Hobbledehoy(Crusch, Sophie Hutchings, This Will Destroy You) to release their debut album this month." Ben talked to Innez Tulloch about their debut album, Auras, their four guitarists and their headlining tour. Aired 29th June 2017.
