Ads sits down with Alex, Tully, Jack and AJ from Sydney hardcore punks Histamine. The band give actual answers to silly questions from an originally abandoned Bad Habit Records interview while sitting on the balcony of Team Glasses Records HQ. This conversation is concluded with a live set recorded at Histamine’s sold-out show at Unite Common House in Brisbane on 15 May 2021. Thanks to Neil Bramley for kindly holding our Tascam DR-40 to capture the live audio. Meanjin/Brisbane post-punk 4-piece CNT EVN burst onto the local music scene in 2018. They put out a self-titled and self-released digital demo in September of that same year and recently released their EP “Tryna” on Team Glasses Records in early May of 2020. Saturday 25th July will see Cnt Evn play at The Zoo as part of the ‘Anti-social Series’ along with Brisbane punk rock band Total Pace. This episode features an interview by my good friend Chris Preindl with Cnt Evn guitarist Anthony which originally aired on his radio show Swiss Air on 4zzz last month around the release of TRYNA. After the interview I have included a live recording that I captured at Fat Louie’s in Brisbane at their show with Diploid, Lizzard Wizzard, Common Enemy, Hexmere and Oratory on 1st of February 2020. On Saturday 6th June 2020, I attended the Meanjin Blak Lives Matter Protest along with 30,000 others. There have been 432 deaths in police custody in Australia since the Royal Commission in 1991, although there have been none convicted. Before the march took place, in King George Square a number of male and female people of colour spoke about their own personal experiences of systematic racism, police brutality and losing loved ones. I had my Tascam recorder that I usually use for shows and band practice on hand at the protest so I captured a number of those powerful speeches and I’d like to share them with you. The purpose of this is so those that were unable to attend or even those who were in attendance but were unable to hear properly due to being too far back can listen and learn.
