Send us Fan MailIf you have ever felt like pain makes you “better,” like sacrifice earns love, or like God must punish someone for the world to make sense, we take that belief apart from the inside. We are reading A Course in Miracles in the section “Atonement Without Sacrifice,” and we follow the thread to a surprisingly practical claim: perception only reflects the state of mind that perceives. When the mind believes in guilt, it will see guilt. When it believes attack is justified, it will find enemies, danger, and proof that fear is rational. From there we slow down and get usable. We talk about what ACIM means by innocence, not moral superiority, not pretending nothing hurts, but a willingness to be untouched by the belief in evil. That willingness becomes forgiveness in the Course sense: releasing the idea that guilt is even possible, so our vision can clear. We also unpack “defending true perception,” which is not “winning” spiritual arguments, but protecting clarity in our own mind and refusing to build an identity out of judgment, specialness, and victimhood. We end by naming how sacrifice-thinking shows up everywhere: in relationships, work, health anxiety, scarcity mindset, and the constant story of “not enough.” The line that anchors it all is simple: sacrifice is totally unknown to God, because love does not trade, deprive, or demand payment. If you want a calmer nervous system, cleaner relationships, and a more stable sense of the peace of God, press play and practice along. Subscribe, share with a friend who is tired of “holy suffering,” and leave a review with the biggest insight you are taking today.Support the show
Send us Fan MailNothing shakes us faster than the feeling that something real just got threatened: our image, our relationships, our safety, our future. Today we take a single ACIM statement and push it all the way into lived experience: “The resurrection demonstrated that nothing can destroy truth.” If that is true, then what exactly are we defending, and what would it feel like to stop?We walk slowly through Chapter 3 Section 3 (paragraphs 8 to 9) and unpack why the Course says good can “withstand” evil, why light does not battle darkness, and why the atonement is presented as the perfect lesson that confirms every other teaching. Along the way we answer a listener question about the light and dark metaphor, offering a clean translation that keeps the teaching practical without turning it into a dualistic struggle. The heart of the episode is application. We explore the Course's “deductive approach” to healing: start with the general truth and apply it to every specific moment, instead of analyzing problems one by one. Then we move into the lived meaning of “commending your spirit into the hands of God” as a decision to drop self-authorship, let the mind awaken from the dream of separation, and remember its Creator. The result is not occasional calm, but the possibility of perfect integration and the reign of the peace of God.If this resonates, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who is tired of fighting their mind, and leave a review so more people can find these ACIM deep dives. What is one situation you are willing to reframe with “nothing can destroy truth”?Support the show
In this episode, we descend into the unsettling world of The Sect (1991), Michele Soavi's surreal and nightmarish descent into occult horror. Send us Fan MailIf you've ever felt like spiritual growth requires suffering, this one will challenge that belief at the root. We're deep in A Course in Miracles Chapter 3, “Sane Perception,” and we keep circling a single correction that changes everything: God does not demand sacrifice, and the atonement is not a story you interpret. It's a present, living correction that restores the mind to what's already true.We slow down on two lines that hit like lightning: “God Himself is not symbolic, He is fact,” and “The atonement too is totally without symbolism.” When God becomes an idea, an image, or a concept we manage, the ego can make Him loving one moment and punishing the next. But if God is fact, truth isn't something we negotiate with, earn, or figure out. From there we explore “light” as knowledge beyond perception, why confusion never comes from truth, and how willingness, not effort, is what removes the shroud. Then we bring it into real life: bodily symptoms, nervous system stories, heartbreak, and the fear that inner work will expose something shameful. ACIM's answer is blunt and strangely relieving: the atonement radiates only truth, epitomizes harmlessness, and sheds only blessing because it arises from perfect innocence. We end by unpacking the reversal that the world hates: innocence isn't naïve, it's wisdom, because evil has no real existence, and innocence stays perfectly aware of everything that is true.Subscribe for more ACIM deep dives, share this with someone stuck in the “pain equals progress” loop, and leave a review with the line that challenged you most.Support the show

Pastor Kurt Hoover gives us the word "Sect" to study from Acts 28! Excited to hear Pastor Dave Nygard preach this Sunday! Hope to see you there!
Inquire whether you do not from time to time injure and defraud those with whom you deal. Are your ways with your neighbor altogether just, such as will bear a trial by the strict rules of the Word of God, or such as you can justify before God? Are you a faithful person? May your neighbors depend on your word? Are you strictly and firmly true to your trust, or anything with which you are betrusted, and which you undertake? Or do you not by your conduct plainly show, that you are not conscientious in such things?

AFKING 【TAICHUNG, TAIWAN】 AFKING (a.k.a. 雷包大師) is a DJ from Taichung, active within the underground rave scene. Emerging in 2022 through the Taichung-based outdoor rave collective 3911, he began frequenting various underground rave venues with members of 3911. He has performed with several Taiwanese underground rave organizations including 3911 and G33KC!T¥(亞城), and has also appeared at events organized by JOIN, held at the iconic Taiwanese rave venue FINAL. Blending the distorted intensity of Early Hardcore with fractured Breakbeat rhythms, his sound constructs a deliberately chaotic sonic atmosphere. Often jokingly described as unapologetically direct, his track selection favors raw dancefloor energy and attitude over conceptual depth. ◼︎AFKing Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/afkmxchine/ SoundCloud : https://on.soundcloud.com/C290EOMEU6NJfRK5mZ

StageFright (1987), The Church (1989), and Dellamorte Dellamore (1994) Most horror fans are at least familiar with the Italian horror tradition, even if they aren't deeply immersed in it. Directors like Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, and Joe D'Amato helped define one of the most prolific and influential horror movements in cinema history, producing a remarkable run of classic films over more than three decades. By the mid-1990s, however, that wave had largely collapsed. Yet, in the final stretch of that "era of terror," horror fans were given something special: four films from a young director named Michele Soavi. Soavi's path into directing was a gradual ascent through the industry. He began as an actor, which got him onto sets, then worked his way up through roles as a crew member and assistant director before eventually stepping behind the camera himself. Along the way, he trained under filmmakers like Joe D'Amato, Lucio Fulci, Lamberto Bava, and Dario Argento, experiences that helped him develop a distinctive voice of his own. In this episode, we're covering three of those four films, more than enough to make the case for seeking them out if you've never seen them, or revisiting them if it's been a while. Because sometimes, it's easy to forget just how damn good they really are. Films mentioned in this episode: Absurd (1981), Amok Train aka Beyond the Door III (1989), Body Count (1986), Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things (1972), The Church (1989), City of the Living Dead (1980), Dario Argento's World of Horror (1985), Dellamorte Dellamore (1994), Demons (1985), Fatal Frames (1996), Ghosthouse (1988), I, Vampir (1957), Nightbreed (1990), Opera (1987), The Sect (1991), StageFright (1987), Suspiria (1977), Tombs of the Blind Dead (1972), Zombi 3 (1988), Zombie 5: Killing Birds (1988)
Who or what are Christian disciples of? That's the question every Christian through the ages must be able answer clearly and succinctly. But for centuries, many have put undue emphases on denominational emphases. And now, political and cultural issues have crowded onto the platform of matters of grave concern for self-professing Christians. On March 7, 2023, Saturn entered Pisces, and for the next 3 years – Caitlin and I experienced our first Saturn Return. Right smack in the middle of that, we decided to do an episode all about Saturn/Saturn returns… but we realized that there was no way we could give you the full picture until AFTER we ourselves had been through the clusterfu– I mean, experience. So, we agreed to meet up + debrief afterward. Well, now that Saturn has entered Aries, and the ringed planet hath released her grip from around our throats (and everything else, tbh) – the time has come! In this episode, we're breaking down how our charts played out in real life, and what our returns were ~really~ like for us. Plus, tips for how to navigate and/or interpret your own.

Do you think we've watched enough Argento this spring? If you said no, then you're in luck, because we have another dose of Italian weirdness with 1991's THE SECT (aka THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER)! Co-written and produced by Dario Argento, this also taps another HMN favorite, Michele Saovi, as director - and as an added bonus, stars Kelly Curtis. AP correspondent Donna Warder reports on how life is for two polygamous towns after their leader was sent to prison for life.
"This edition of Tales of the Night brings together seven true stories that range from the paranormal to the unsettlingly human. Tonight we journey through fog-shrouded tunnels, forests where something seems to ""call"" from the darkness, houses where a presence peeks out just enough to haunt the memory, and night shifts where the strange becomes routine. Throughout the episode, witchcraft, spirits, shadows, and that kind of fear that doesn't always have a form appear—the fear of having seen something you shouldn't have. Seven distinct relationships, united by the same feeling: the feeling of not being alone, even when you think you've arrived home and locked the door."
Guest: Jonathan Schanzer. Syria's new central government remains extremely fragile, with authority barely extending beyond Damascus as factions clash in Aleppo. Schanzer describes a "Sunni jihadist regime" facing retribution from sectarian minorities. Meanwhile, regional tensions escalate as Israel and Iran reportedly narrowly avoided direct conflict, prompting Russia to evacuate its embassy.1979 TEHRAN

Michael Jaco and Leo Zagami join forces to expose the dark truths behind Jeffrey Epstein's empire and the hidden sects that empowered him. From his connections to elite figures like Les Wexner and Steven Spielberg to the deeper links with the Illuminati, Mega Group, and Sabbatean Frankists, this discussion unpacks the hidden power networks that shaped one of the world's most sinister scandals. Leo draws from his extensive research and latest work to uncover the occult, political, and financial mechanisms that kept Epstein untouchable for years. Together, they trace these threads back to ancient secret societies, global corruption, and the ongoing manipulation of humanity through deception and control.
