Effective communication has been a concern for school districts for many decades. It is compounded by today's communication tools such as texting, email, voicemail and Zoom. Educators are asking how often to communicate, how can we be empathetic in our messages, and how do we ensure our messages are seen. LinkedUp Podcast guests Miriam Altman-Reyes and Eric Daniels of Kinvolved help listeners find the communication balance needed for powerful education. About our guests: Miriam started her career in education as an NYC DOE high school educator. Her front-line experiences working with students and families in the classroom inspired her to co-found Kinvolved, a certified Benefit Corporation elevating equitable K-12 student and family engagement in school. As Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Miriam's responsibilities include overall strategic development and execution, fundraising, revenue generation, growth, impact, board management, and more. Miriam is a Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation entrepreneur, a two-time Fellow at Columbia University, an Education Pioneers and Teach For America alumna, and has been named as an NYU Changemaker, a Top 100 Influencer in EdTech, and on Forbes' list of 30 Under 30. She earned an MPA from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at NYU, where she has also taught, an MA, Ed. from Lehman College, and a BA with Honors from Brown University, where she has been a Women's LaunchPad Mentor since 2014. Eric -With nearly a decade of experience in ed-tech, Eric is responsible for developing new District Partnerships. As a father of 2 children in the public school system, and having served as a member of the Nutley School District's pandemic task force, Eric knows how important attendance is. He also understands the trouble that comes as a result of chronic absenteeism, for the student, family, and school. Before joining Kinvolved last year, Eric served as Director of Sales Operations for The RTM Business Group for nearly 7 years. While there, he built a tremendous network of solution providers and senior level District Leaders, helping them connect and develop meaningful partnerships. When not at work, Eric enjoys spending time with his family (Wife Jennie, 13 year old daughter, 10 year old son, and a Chocolate Lab), He also enjoys most sports (watching & Playing), has a large sports card & Memorabilia collection, and hosts a channel on YouTube focused on Card Collecting (Called "Searching for Hits w/Eric")
Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, named by readers in 1991 as the most influential book after the Bible, is a novelized warning about the allure and evils of socialism. What happens when the most productive members in society give up? How much can be asked of them before they do? Who is left to support the rest? Michael Knowles and Eric Daniels take you through Rand's prophetic masterpiece. This episode was made possible by a generous donation from The Objective Standard Institute. In our fast-paced world, it's tough to make reading a priority. At Thinkr.org, read or listen to hundreds of titles in a matter of minutes: start your free trial today at Thinkr.org.
This is a big weird one you guys. Eric Daniels, good friend of the show and front-man of Sloth Fist is back at it again with me. We go over pop-culture, art, music, the movie Face Off, and the politics of labeling things. I had no plan, and this show turned out to be one hell of a trip. Please enjoy if you will? ~Dave
Dreams of Consciousness Podcast Episode 180 features an interview with Eric Daniels and Twan van Geel of Soulburn. Formed over two decades ago by members of Asphyx, Soulburn eschew the speed-for-speed's sake dictum of death and back metal. Instead, the band employs a sinister mid-paced stomp that hearkens back to the genre's earliest recordings, whilst maintaining the level of professionalism you'd expect from scene veterans. I spoke with Soulburn founder/guitarist Eric Daniels and vocalist/bassist Twan van Geel about the band's history, and the ways Bathory influenced their approach. We also discussed the themes behind their latest album Noa's Dark, and how the production reflects their belief that extreme art has to hurt. My thanks to Eric and Twan for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening. Music In This Episode: "Withering Nights" taken from the album Earthless Pagan Spirit "From Archaeon Into Oblivion" "Noah's Dark" taken from the album Noa's Dark "Behold The Funeral Candle/The Flames Of Soulburn" taken from the album Feeding On Angels Thanks for listening! In this episode I got to sit down with singer/songwriter/front-man of Sloth Fist the amazing hardcore punk band. We talk about where he is from, where he has been, and of course go over the band, the album, and the new video release. GSD stands for “Get Shit Done”. It’s one of my favorite aspects about my next guest. He recently ran over 400 5k’s in a row and lost 50 lbs. He’s a cyclist, real estate investor, aircraft mechanic, prior military, race car builder and overall community builder! Eric Daniels has reinvented himself before my very eyes. I’ve become great friends with him in the past few years and even spent a week with him hiking almost 100 miles on the Appalachian Trail last summer. He started his career in FW as an engineer at Lockheed Martin leading a team of other engineers in designing the leading edge of the F-35. One of the most hi-tech jets in the world. But then He found himself at a crossroads in his life and decided to set aside the scientific calculator and join the crazy world of Real Estate. In just a few short years he has figured out how to become an elite level realtor and still be a great dad and husband. Eric has an incredible mind and I was able to uncover what makes him tick. Eric Daniels, CEO of Lloyds Banking Group, Britain's biggest retail bank, who announced this week that he will retire in 12 months with an estimated £13 million pay off package. He's the last survivor of the big banking beasts - Fred "the Shred" Goodwin and co - who were at the helm when the banking crisis struck. Daniels is still being pursued by angry shareholders who saw their stake plummet after he presided over the Lloyds takeover of HBOS.A heavy smoking, cricket-loving American, of Chinese/German parentage, Eric Daniels won a reputation as the quiet man, a safe pair of hands, risk averse: the archetypal boring banker. That was before Gordon Brown persuaded him and his chairman at Lloyds to take on HBOS at the height of the banking crisis. Triumph rapidly turned to disaster. As the Independent Banking Commission this week reveals its plans to re-shape the banking sector, Morland Sanders profiles a respected City figure, and through Daniels' story, throws a revealing light on Britain's recent banking culture and crisis.Producer: Andy Denwood Presenter: Morland Sanders.
