Sermon Title: The Source of Eternal SalvationScripture Text: Hebrews 5:7–10Main Point: Jesus is the never-ending source of eternal salvation — His life, death, and resurrection open the floodgates of grace for all who believe. Episode Summary: In this powerful message, we are invited to reflect on Jesus not only as the Savior who died but also as the Savior who lived a life of perfect obedience. Drawing from Hebrews 5:7-10, we delve into the profound truth that Christ's flawless life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection ensure eternal salvation for all who trust in Him. Like an unending fountain in the desert, Jesus offers life that will never run dry. Through vivid illustrations—from gardens to wells to stories of courageous rescue—we're reminded that salvation is found in no one else. The call is simple yet profound: Believe in the One who has already done everything necessary for our rescue. Key Topics Covered: Why Jesus' life mattered just as much as His deathThe garden of Gethsemane and the obedience of ChristThe Cross as the ultimate act of substitution and loveJesus' resurrection as the victory over deathWhat it means for Jesus to be the eternal source of salvationThe simple, freeing call to believe and trust in HimReflection Questions:1. Where do I sometimes look for "life" apart from Jesus?2. How does knowing Jesus lived perfectly for me change the way I view my failures?3. What would it look like to trust Jesus as the source of life this week? Website: redeemernw.orgLocation: 211 Northshore Dr, Bellingham, WA 98226

Moses lists  the various places where God led Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land to give Israel confidence and courage to face their future. As Moses' anchors them in God's protection and provision of them in the past, he also calls them to enter the land with the purpose of removing the nations and idolatry that is there.  He concludes, by telling them of God's promised gift to come.  Pastor Mollenkopf explains the great hope the church can have in this Old Testament narrative.

In this sermon by Pastor Chris Romig, the focus is on the letter to the church at Pergamum from the book of Revelation. Much like a doctor with a sharp two-edged sword, Jesus is portrayed as someone deeply concerned with the purity of the church, willing to cut out destructive influences. Pastor Chris emphasizes the commendation given to those in Pergamum for holding fast to their faith despite societal pressures, and the challenging call for repentance due to false teachings creeping into the church. The sermon explores how these false teachings are reminiscent of the teachings of Balaam and the Nicolaitans, leading people into idolatry and immorality, a caution against trends still present in today's Christian context. Chris highlights the importance of holding onto Jesus' promises, like the hidden manna and the white stone with a new name, symbolizing the divine provision and eternal reward for those who conquer through faith. Throughout the sermon, Pastor Chris draws a parallel between the spiritual battles faced by the Pergamum church and contemporary challenges, emphasizing that victory is found in faith and rebirth in Christ. The promise of transformation and a new identity in Jesus is emphasized, calling believers to persevere in their faith and trust in the promises of Christ as they navigate the trials of life. The sermon concludes with an invitation to hold onto these promises as a source of hope and assurance of God's faithfulness.

In fact, Frederica's book, Two Views of the Cross was very influential in my own introduction to the Orthodox Church, and the Orthodox views of Christianity. The life of Jesus and his death, his atonement, very different ways of thinking between the Orthodox and say, Roman Catholic or the Protestant views of Jesus's suffering and how it translates to our joy and our joy. Eternal Salvation.I think the initial agenda was to discuss her book Two Views of the Cross. And while we did get into the book eventually, we discussed quite a bit beforehand. And to be honest, it all blended quite honestly and pleasantly.I have one more interview that I did with Frederica that I'm going to publish shortly after I published this one, and that was more Overtly Orthodox. Family Foundation for Your Future Kirk Hortel Life insurance. For a lot of people, that is the last thing they want to discuss. It brings their eventual mortality directly to the forefront during the discussion. Your eternal salvation, if you are a believer, is guaranteed. That's a great start. But, what about those you leave behind. Wouldn't be great if you can have a guarantee for them, here in the rotten here and now, as they go through probably one of the worst few days of their life? What about if you are blessed enough to stick around awhile? Wouldn't it be great to benefit financially in that regards as well? Of course! Well, that is where our guest today comes in. Kirk Hortel has a ministry called “CharityOne” and he helps families to create their own “Family Foundation” to help in estate planning, reducing taxes and help them to support charities of their choice, including increasing their giving to local churches. Amen! Help me welcome to the program, Kirk Hortel… Kirk, I appreciate you coming on the program today and discussing these very important topics for our listening audience! The first question I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Kirk Hortel?” From what I understand, there was a book, I believe it was called, “Become Your Own Banker,” that was a big influence in your life. Can you explain why and how that book influenced you? You focus on heritage as well as inheritance. What is the difference between the two? There are other benefits of life insurance than just death benefits. Your ministry, CharityOne.com, helps families to create a family foundation. Can you explain what a family foundation is and why that is important? How do you help families to create their own family foundation? So this is a way business owners can help to establish their legacy as well? When someone reaches out through your website, CharityOne.com, what will they discover? How long does it take to set up your 501-c-3? How difficult is it? We've been talking a lot about life insurance, business and finances – but in the end, it is all about leaving something behind for a person's family after the main bread winner is gone to Heaven. It's not something many people want to focus on – but it is a needful conversation. Kirk, this has been so interesting. If someone wanted to ask a question, receive more information or possibly have you on an interview such as this – how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you? I'll put links to all of this in the show notes below. Folks, Kirk Hortel has tapped into something here that every single family needs to be informed about. Other than our Eternal Salvation, financial planning and planning for our the eventual loss of that is going to occur when we pass on to Heaven is vital. You may not like to think about that. It's a difficult concept to dwell on – but if you take the time NOW to deal with that issue – it...

Each of us has to give up something in order to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ—bad habits, incorrect beliefs, unwholesome associations, or something else. For Gentiles in the early Christian Church, conversion often meant abandoning false gods. For the Hebrews (or Jews), conversion proved to be, if not more difficult, a little more complicated. After all, their cherished beliefs and traditions were rooted in the worship of the true God and the teachings of His prophets, extending back thousands of years. Yet the Apostles taught that the law of Moses had been fulfilled in Jesus Christ and that a higher law was now the standard for believers. Would accepting Christianity mean that the Hebrews must give up their earlier beliefs and history? The Epistle to the Hebrews sought to help settle such questions by teaching that the law of Moses, the prophets, and the ordinances are all important, but Jesus Christ is greater (see Hebrews 1:1–4; 3:1–6; 7:23–28). In fact, all these things point to and testify of Christ as the Son of God and the promised Messiah the Jews had been waiting for. Conversion, in those early days and today, means making Jesus Christ the center of our worship and our lives. It means holding fast to truth and letting go of that which distracts us from Him, for He is the “author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” This week the children will learn learn more about Jesus Christ and strengthen their relationship with Him. They will also learn Heavenly Father wants us to “harden not [our] hearts.” Hebrews 3 describes the Israelites hardening their hearts and rejecting the Lord's blessings. This can be a warning to all of us not to harden our hearts. If you are new here, welcome to this Come Follow Me Podcast for children! Welcome to the Come Follow Me Podcast for Kids! Rev. Jeremiah Johnson, pastor at Glory of Christ Lutheran Church in Plymouth, MN, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Hebrews 5:1-10. The author of Hebrews continues to help us rejoice that Jesus is our great high priest. In the Old Testament, the high priests were chosen from men for the sake of men. In their own weakness, they dealt gently with sinners, yet none of them chose the office for themselves; they were appointed by God. As God makes plain in Psalm 2 and Psalm 110, Jesus also was appointed by God to be our great high priest in the order of Melchizedek. God made Jesus our complete high priest through His suffering and death on the cross so that now Jesus is the source of our eternal salvation. “The New Covenant in Christ” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through the book of Hebrews. The book of Hebrews is best understood as a sermon preached to those who have gathered for the Divine Service, exhorting them to continued faithfulness to Jesus. As the Son of God and our Brother, Jesus is both our exalted King and faithful High Priest who is truly present with us so that we might fix our eyes on Him.
