What hurts you the most? For Kevin, it was wisdom teeth. For Jack? Well.....
On this edition of The Acc and Jack Show, Acc and Jack discuss video games! It’s actually pretty amazing when discussing such a topic makes the time go by in an instant. Jack doesn’t even get to the discussion points he planned for this one. Kicking off this episode with a grammatical curiosity, Acc and Jack discuss the old Sega Dreamcast game “Typing of the Dead.” Jack is convinced advertising for this game featured the Mavis Beacon character as a zombie. Much like “my mom’s cooking potatoes,” this could just be the Mandela effect striking again. Elsewhere, with it soon available to enjoy on PC, Acc has interest in the Kingdom Hearts series. It doesn’t help that most of the games in this series employ the weirdest naming conventions. To that end, “PC Master Race” Acc also has no idea what the new generation of game consoles are called. Wrapping up, Acc talks about one of the few instances where Nintendo disappoints. For Jack, video game disappointment comes largely in the form of “live service” games. One game that does not disappoint, however – Undertale. Do what Jack did and build a $1,000 gaming computer to enjoy it! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hardlyfocused/support

The founder of the RelayX wallet, Jack Liu, has been helping investors to deal with a crisis on a cryptocurrency exchange by using Bitcoin SV’s ability to tokenise assets. The exchange OKEx recently suspended all withdrawals because, it explained, “one of our private key-holders is currently cooperating with a public security bureau.” It hasn’t said who, or what this all about, although it has assured users that their money is safe. In response to the crisis, Jack Liu has implemented an innovative solution which provides a case study for the potential of tokenisation on BSV.The problem at OKEx is an unusual one, Jack points out. The exchange is still functioning normally with the important exception that users can’t withdraw funds. This has led to the kind of tokenising option that he is offering, using BSV. But Jack says that he’s not the only one thinking along these lines: “because you can't withdraw, there appears to be already emerging markets that allow a user with funds on the exchange to swap with a user who has funds outside the exchange.”So how does the OK BSV token work? It first requires OKEx holders of BSV to transfer them within OKEx:“right now the funds are sitting with different users' accounts inside OKEx. So instead of that, if you would like to have a representative token for your asset, funds are sent to a central account inside OKEx and the amount backing that is one to one issued for an OK BSV token.” While buyers of OK BSV tokens are offered them on a one to one basis with their BSV funds, there will be a small percentage charge of one to 0.995 when you want to redeem them for BSV again. Jack sees the BSV token as providing real practical value to some OKEx customers: “imagine you're saving up for a wedding or to buy a house or something. And you need to close on the house next week. Even if you are absolutely certain that everything's fine, which is exactly what the exchange is saying, you might have a liquidity issue and you just want to have some funds outside exchange now. So this option, I think, is critical, but it also just coincidentally demonstrates our new RelayX token wallet, and also our use of the RUN [tokenising] protocol on Bitcoin SV.”For Jack, the OK BSV token is just the start of what will be possible, and not just for financial products: “traditional assets, whether it's farmland or fruits or produce or buildings or financial assets, those don't run on any common ledger. And so those values are very hard to transfer. You'd have to take the funds out to dollars and then wire money to somewhere else to move these assets. So there's going to be a massive shift to tokenise every asset in the world onto a common ledger.”Another step that would make that vision more possible would be for all BSV wallets to offer tokenising protocols - the more the merrier, Jack says: “the sooner we get to a market consensus and market dominance, the more tokenization happens. I think you need tokens for Bitcoin to take the next step in its evolution.”
November 1941: War is coming to the Pacific. In Europe, the Nazis are triumphant. England is under siege by air and sea. France has fallen to the Nazi Wehrmacht, which in turn fell on Soviet Russia. The Red Army is reeling in full retreat, with the Nazis at the gates of Moscow itself. In the Pacific, Japan has been at war with China since 1937. Her war industries depend upon imports of scrap metal and oil from what are now the Allied nations. When an embargo is placed on imports to Japan, they are left with a year's supply of oil to supply their armed forces. Japan surrounds American possessions in the Philippines on three sides. The US Army is making a desperate, last-minute attempt to reinforce the Philippines garrison, but the clock is ticking for the Japanese, with their oil running out. The armed forces of Imperial Japan may attack the Philippines at any moment. Two brothers, Jack and Charlie Davis, are pilots in the US Army Air Forces. They are part of the reinforcements sent to the Far Eastern Air Force, charged with air defense of the Philippines. For Jack and Charlie, in a time when the US is on the brink of world war, a simple question must soon be answered: what will I do when the Japanese come?
Over 2 Billion people in the world live without access to toilets and clean sanitation. Serial entrepreneur Jack Sim has made it his life’s work to address this problem, starting the World Toilet Organization and helping instate World Toilet Day, raising awareness, and making change happen. Today, we hear from Jack about how he began this conversation and breaking down the taboo and silence on the subject. In today's episode, Jack explains his model of ‘mutual exploitation’ as a way of creating change, as well as how he created a movement built out of millions of heroes, rather than one central figure. Jack shares his thoughts on finding big problems to work on, his approach to change, and the fulfillment that is possible when we aim for the seemingly impossible. Our guest is a firm believer in the mission over the person, and argues that we should all be unimportant next to the cause we are fighting for. For Jack, the meaning of life is found in your usefulness and service to the rest of the planet and he is such a great example of helping people and inspiring change around him. Listeners can expect to gain insight into a worldview that prioritizes hope and positivity in the face of adversity, so tune in to hear from a wonderful voice of impact, with a great sense of humanity and humor!Read the Full Summary here.Read my detailed podcast notes here.Listen on SpotifyListen on Google PodcastsListen on Apple Podcasts
This week, we have a special episode to celebrate the return of the Australian Super Rugby competition. Today's guest are Australian rugby representatives, but more importantly brothers, Will and Jack Maddocks. Will and Jack grew up playing a variety of different sports but both eventually fell in love with rugby. However, they had very different journeys to becoming Australian rugby representatives. Will was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma at age 15 and spent the last years of his school-life thinking about anything but sport. Eventually, when he was told he was in remission, he worked his way up the ranks at Eastern Suburbs and found himself in the Australian rugby sevens squad, making his debut in 2019. For Jack, it was cricket that came calling for him. Given a cricket scholarship to Sydney University it looked like he had been lost to rugby. However, the passion always burned in him that he wanted to prove himself in union and eventually came back to find himself tearing it up in Super Rugby and earning himself a Wallabies cap. I spoke with Jack and Will in a, somewhat chaotic phonecall, as both adjust to the new world of Australian rugby post-COVID. Jack getting ready to return for the Waratahs and Will uncertain what the future may hold for him in the sevens. But what is clear is that they're more confident than ever rugby is ready to thrive again in Australia. Sometimes the end of a decade brings a whole lot of amazing/great/groundbreaking films (see 1969, 1979 or 1999 for more on that). 2019 may... not be quite that. But there were enough major works of artistic achievement that struck us at the Wages of Cinema as worth discussing, and it turned out to be such a fecund topic that we went for TWO PARTS! Of course, there may be some spoilers abound so proceed with some caution. To assist you all wanting to keep score, here are the films discussed in this part; stay tuned for part 2 to hear numbers Five to the Number ONE film (and honorable mentions): For Korey: 10. Knives Out - 9. Booksmart - 8. Toy Story 4 - 7. Avengers Endgame - 6. Little Women... For Jack: 10. Pain and Glory - 9. Avengers Endgame - 8. Ad Astra - 7. Knives Out - 6. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (Clips used from those films listed, and an ad for 'Heaven Scent' from OUaTiH soundtrack)

In this episode after being cut from the football team, Kevin finds out that McKinley High has a soccer team. For Jack and Julie, the foundation of their union isn’t their athletic prowess, but on-field success has been a constant since they met in the spring of 2012.
Happy Holidays Wonderlings, How’s your December been so far? Ready for the big day next Monday? Hard to believe that Christmas is a week from today. Got all your gifts bought and wrapped? Holiday cards all mailed out? Make any Christmas cookies yet? I am so excited for this episode I watch it every December to get into the Christmas spirit. Let’s jump into the fun filled holiday fun time with S2E3 Christmas which aired on December 14, 1988. In this episode Kevin and Wayne try to convince Jack to buy a color television for Christmas. Meanwhile Kevin tries to find the perfect present for Winnie after she unexpectedly gives him a present. I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals: 1. For the allure of color tv. 2. For Kevin getting Winnie the snow globe instead of perfume. 3. For Paul being a good friend while he was dying of sinus issues at the perfume counter while Kevin figured out which perfume Winnie wore. 4. For Jack finally coming out of his sour mood when the family gets rained on during the Christmas caroling and Jack bursts out laughing and the family dries off in the kitchen drinking hot cocoa finally coming together as a family. 5. Kevin opening Winnie’s gift finding a four leaf clover. Time for my Wonderling Words of Wisdom: It’s Christmas time, it’s not the amount you spend on a person, it’s the love and thought you put behind the gift you give. We don’t always have to have the latest and greatest piece of technology as soon as it comes off the assembly line or the day it’s released. Jack waited two years to get the family a color tv and I’m sure the price came down at least a few hundred dollars by then. Here’s my quote of the episode: Narrator: I don't even remember what I got for Christmas that year. But Dad gave Mom a bracelet that knocked her socks off. Oh, yeah... and he did get us that color-TV... two years later. For me, that year Christmas stopped being about tinsel and wrapping paper, and started being about memory. At first I was disappointed. Until I learned that memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you wish to never lose. And I learned from Winnie, that in a world that changes too fast, the best we can do is wish each other Merry Christmas. [Kevin opens Winnie's present, which is a four-leaf clover] And good luck. I want to give a sincere thank to all you listeners out there whether you listen to this podcast on Itunes or Soundcloud or any other listening platforms that you may use to hear this podcast. I love giving you the episode recaps of The Wonder Years every week joining me as I go into full detail as we reminisce of days gone by with Kevin and his friends Paul and Winnie, and the rest of the Arnold family. as well as giving my occasional running commentary and childhood stories. Hey Wonderlings, Grab your Kleenex, hankies, TeePee, your shirt sleeve, what have you, because today we say goodbye to an amazing teacher, Mr. Collins in today’s episode of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. Hi I’m Angela Bowen your host of Looking Back on My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. As I said above this episode S3E20 Goodbye which aired on April 24, 1990 is a tearjerker. In this episode Kevin's grades in Mr Collin's Math class are not that good. After talking to Kevin, Mr Collins suggests that he could give him extra lessons to help him on the upcoming test. Kevin seems to be getting better, until one day when Mr. Collins fails to show up. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving this episode 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals. 1. For Mr. Collins helping Kevin get prepared for his midterm exam. 2. For Jack encouraging Kevin in his school work. 3. For Mr. Collins giving Kevin a chance to make his test up even after he had passed away. He knew Kevin was angry and wanted him to have a second chance to prove himself and ace that exam. 4. For Mr. Diperna taking Kevin aside and personally telling him Collins had passed. I think he must of seen the sincerity in Kevin’s eyes otherwise he would have just slammed the faculty lounge door in Kevin’s face. 5. For Kevin realizing he didn’t need his teacher’s help any longer because he knew the answers and For Mr. Collins last appearance as a ghost as Kevin turns to him and tells him Good Job Mr. Collins”. Also when Kevin had dropped off his test the first time and Mr. Collins called him Kevin. That broke my heart because he really tried to reach him there but Kevin was too angry to bother to turn around. My Wonderling Words of Wisdom: I’m sure there are some of us out there who at one point in their life has had a teacher or a mentor that has made an impact on their life. I know of a few that I had when I was younger in elementary school and high school. They were teachers who took the time to listen when I had a problem or encouraged me to do better at school. Looking back on this now as I’m in my mid 30’s I wish I could have that kind of impact on someone’s life. I do these podcasts for fun but hope that maybe I’m making someone feel better or something. My Wonder Years Quote Of the Episode: Narrator: Teachers never die. They live in your memory forever. They were there when you arrived; they were there when you left. Like fixtures. Once in a while they taught you something. But not that often. And, you never really knew them, any more than they knew you. Still, for awhile, you believed in them. And, if you were lucky, maybe there was one who believed in you. Join me this weekend for S3E21: Cocoa and Sympathy which aired on May 1, 1990. In this episode When Paul is voted "Brainiest" on this years Lisa Berlini Poll, he goes through some self esteem problems. That is until Kevin's mom tries to help Paul's confidence and in return Paul develops a crush on Kevin's mom. Have a great day and I’ll be back for another episode this weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Turkey Day Wonderlings, I’m Angela Bowen the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years A Wonder Years Podcast and today I’m bringing you a special holiday edition episode of The Wonder Years with S4E7: The Ties That Bind a Thanksgiving Themed Episode which aired on November 14, 11990. In this episode Money is tight around the Arnold household, and things don't look so good when the kitchen stove finally dies. Jack goes to NORCOM to ask for a raise, and gets it, as well as a promotion. With the new stove in the kitchen, it seems the Arnold's problems are over, until it becomes clear that Jack won't be back for Thanksgiving Dinner. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving this 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals. I loved this episode so much especially the end. 1. For Jack going after that raise at his job and getting a promotion also bringing home flowers for Norma. 2. The appearance of Buster. Love that little guy. 3. Norma, the best tv mom cook of all time. How she held it together the best she could for her kids when she was down, missing Jack on Thanksgiving. 4. Paul’s minute performance tossing the football to Kevin as they talked about Jack traveling. 5. For Jack catching a flight home to be with his family if only for an hour on Thanksgiving. And his and Norma’s embrace at the airport. So sweet and beautiful. My Wonderling Words Of Wisdom: As you all sit down to your Turkey dinner tomorrow. Give thanks for not just each other but the many things you’ve been blessed with in life, whether it’s a roof over your head, food in your belly, clothes on your back, a job to provide for your family, your loved ones at your side, etc. Let us not forget those people who are currently fighting over seas for our freedom who can’t be with their families tomorrow, to the elderly who may not have family to spend the holiday with, and also to the people at the retail stores who stay open on Thanksgiving who have to give up their time with their families to be there for the shoppers and prepare for Black Friday. I’ll tell you what I’m thankful for, a amazing family, my husband who supports me, my job to pay my bills, my two fur kids Quinn and London and most of all to you my listeners for taking the time to listen and enjoy this podcast. Thank you! Get out your Kleenex’s and Join me this weekend for a tearjerker of an episode as I review S3E20 Goodbye which aired on April 24, 1990. In this episode Kevin's grades in Mr Collin's Math class are not that good. After talking to Kevin, Mr Collins suggests that he could give him extra lessons to help him on the upcoming test. Kevin seems to be getting better, until one day when Mr Collins fails to show up.
Hey there Wonderlings, Hope you’re having a good Monday. Let’s get into some furry cuteness this episode with the introduction of the newest Arnold family member Buster in S3E12: The Powers That Be which aired on January 23, 1990. In this episode Grandpa Arnold visits the family and gives Kevin a puppy as a gift, but both Kevin and the pup get caught up in the middle of tensions between Jack Arnold and his father. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving it 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals: 1. For the introduction of Buster. 2. For the introduction of Holly Jolly Grandpa even though he stepped on Jack’s toes a lot which ultimately lead to an uncomfortable shouting match at the table causing the rest of the family to vacate. 3. For Kevin learning how hard it is to raise a puppy. 4. Kevin giving up the puppy in hopes of mending the rift between his father and grandfather. 5. For Jack finally accepting the puppy and telling Kevin. “I think we need a dog”. My Quote of the Show: Narrator: And for some reason, maybe the way he said it, I began to understand. He wasn't giving me an order. My dad, was asking me for help. That morning, as I stood with the man who was my father... The son of my grandfather, the man who would one day be the grandfather of my sons...I realized something. That not all gifts are simple. That some battles are fought out of love. My Wonderling Words of Wisdom: Sure we only all love puppies, the cuteness, the softness, that puppy breath, but we also know how much work it is to raise them financially along with the mental and physical exhaustion of training them and housebreaking them. Now I don’t know this personally because as an adult I’ve never raised a puppy before but hope to one day. That all being said please take this all in to consideration never gift a pet especially a dog unless you know the person in question you’re giving it to is ready to financially accept the responsibility and are ready to have one in their life. Join me later this week when I review S2E13: She, My Friend and I which aired on February 6, 1990. In this episode Paul and his girlfriend Carla have a falling out. Wanting to make his friend feel better, Kevin offers to set Paul up with Winnie. At first Kevin is happy about the idea, but after awhile, he begins to wonder if he's made a mistake. Here’s the Listener Question for S3E13: She, My Friend and I. Did you and your friend ever like the same person romantically? How did you work it out? Email me your comments at lbomwonderyearspodcast@gmail.com all you other listeners out there, thanks again for listening. I want to give a sincere thank to all you listeners out there whether you listen to this podcast on Itunes or Soundcloud or any other listening platforms that you may use to hear this podcast. Hey there Wonderlings, Long time, no podcast. How have you been? Today I’ll be discussing two episodes of The Wonder Years S3E3: Wayne on Wheels and S3E4: Mom Wars. In S3E3: Wayne on Wheels which aired on October 24, 1989 Wayne finally gets his driver's license, but doesn't sit well with his new job of driving Kevin and Paul around. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating I’m giving it 4 out of 5 Flower Power Petals 1. Wayne entering the world of driving and showing us all what not to do. 2. Kevin’s stalker issues with this dream girl following her to the movies. That fact that he knows what her hair smells like is just creepy. 3. A near death experience brings Kevin and Wayne together if only for a moment and Wayne shows his human side. 4. For Jack and Norma laying down the law with Wayne and suspending his driving privileges. I knocked off two flower power petals for Wayne being a crazy driver and almost killing someone having no regard for anyone’s safety until he’s faced with his own mortality. Let’s move on to S3E4 Mom Wars which aired on October 31, 1989. Halloween. When Mom grows concerned about Kevin playing rough in touch football after school, Kevin has to make a choice. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving this episode 4 out of 5 flower power petals. 1. For the flashbacks opening the episode with Norma and Kevin revealing their closeness and happy times. 2. The song that plays at the end The Circle Game by Joni Mitchell during the flashbacks of young Norma and Kevin. The song really speaks to children being young and innocence and then progressing with age and pulling away from their parents as they gain independence. 3. The moment Kevin comes unhinged and Tells his mother to stop treating him like a baby and he can take care of himself. That look of hurt on Norma’s face broke my heart, but at least she he was being honest with her and stood his ground. She needs to cut the apron strings. I know he’s her last baby, but she has to learn to let go. 4. Paul looking out for Kevin and calling off the game turning into Norma 2.0 when he gets hurt. What a great friend. Join me Sunday October 15, when I discuss S3E5: On The Spot which aired on November 7, 1989. In this episode Kevin joins the school play just to get out of Gym class, while Winnie and Paul seem to take it very seriously. Winnie has problems with her performance, and Kevin unexpectedly helps her during the show. And S3E6: Odd Man Out which aired on November 14, 1989 in this episode When Kevin and Paul have a disagreement, they decide to find new best friends. Kevin starts hanging around with Doug Porter while Paul befriends Brady Ryland. Here are the Listener Questions for S3E5: On The Spot: Did you ever have stage fright when you were in a play and forgot your lines? If you were Winnie how would you handled the situation? And S3E6: Odd Man Out: Did you ever having a falling out with a friend and use a new friend to make your other friend jealous? Did you feel bad for Doug for how Kevin was treating him? Hey there Wonderlings, Happy Back to School Day, I know, I know, booo! But I thought we’d kick off the new school year with a Back to School Wonder Years Special with three episodes Season 3 Episode 2 Math Class, Season 4 Episode 1 Ninth Grade Man, and Season 5 Episode 2 Day One. In these three episodes we see Kevin facing a new school year and the trials that come with it starting a new grade, new challenging teachers, new bullies, new friends and new girls. Let’s kick this special off with the first of the three episodes S3E2: Math Class which aired on October 10, 1989. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving it 3 out of 5 Flower Power Petals 1. Kevin starting a new school year and we get two see some new teachers. 2. Kevin actually struggling at something and making him seem relatable to young viewers who also may struggle in school. 3. For Jack encouraging Kevin throughout the episode and then helping Kevin during the close out scene. I knocked two flower power petals off because of Kevin hassling Paul about his high Math grade and also because he crossed the line with his friendship with Paul by almost cheating off his paper. Paul look of hurt and betrayal that his friend would resort to that is sad especially after he offered to study with Kevin and Kevin turned him down. My Wonderling Words of Wisdom for this episode: Just because you need a tutor or ask for extra help in a class doesn’t make you stupid or less of a person it just means you’re not giving up and you’re willing to do whatever it takes to improve and better yourself. Alright let’s move on to S4E2: Ninth Grade Man which aired on September 26, 1990. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving this episode 2 out of 5 Flower Power Petals: 1. For Kevin being a good comforting boyfriend to Winnie calming her fears of a new school. 2. For Kevin being a good comforting friend to Paul. I knocked off 3 flower power petals for Becky Slater’s vendetta against Kevin and men in general adding to the misery of his first day ex. Pouring milk on his lunch and slugging him in the stomach. The introduction to Madeline the harpie who I feel breaks up Kevin and Winnie or at least contributes to the downfall of their relationship. The damn P.E. teacher for just laughing and shaking her head at Kevin when Becky slugs him in the stomach. What the hell!! My Wonderling Words of Wisdom: Don’t worry if your first day of school is a flop you still have 9 months to make it better or at least maybe have a better day. Let’s move on to our last Back to School episode S5E2: Day One which aired on October 9, 1991. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving it 3 out of 5 Flower Power Petals: 1. For Stuart Carpazian. He’s awesome. 2. Paul’s cut off sleeved sweatshirt and no glasses.Love that. 3. Kevin and the classe’s revolt against Botner. I knocked two off because of Botner and because of Kevin whining of how high school wasn’t what junior high used to be. Wait a minute didn’t he complain about 9th grade too. My Wonderling Words of Wsidom: High School supposedly being the best year of some people’s lives but not all. My high school years sucked big time and I would never want to go back especially with the way schools are today. Take each day as it comes and make the best of it and know your best days are yet to come. All right Wonderlings this is the last podcast episode for now. See you in October!
Set your dials to the Third Men Podcast, because this week we're being taken over by the most notorious radio pirate of them all - John Peel! When British DJ and all-around music tastemaker John Peel discovered The White Stripes debut album on a trip to the Netherlands, both Peel and the Stripes would never again be the same. For Jack and Meg, John gave them crucial exposure and a solid gold endorsement right as their careers were truly taking off. In Jack, John gained a kindred spirit and a renewed sense of hope for music like he hadn't experienced since the dawn of punk so many years prior. In this episode we cover it all, exploring Peel's life and just what made him such a quintessential ingredient in not just english music culture, but the broader musical consciousness of the world. Plus, third man Colin White of Joe Symes and the Loving Kind shares with us his own musical origins, how playing drums in Liverpool brought him to the world stage, and what experiencing the "Peel Effect" first hand was like.
