Linnea Quigley is a legendary scream queen best known for her roles in cult horror classics like The Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Demons, Graduation Day, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, and over 120+ films. In this episode, we'll talk about the upcoming Trash's Revenge, some of her most iconic roles, the chaos of B-movie filmmaking, Me-Too's impact on Hollywood, and nudity in film. We get into Hollywood's shift since the 80s and what's changed, AI's impact on film, and why B-movies just don't hit the same anymore. Linnea shares wild stories from haunted sets, UFO sightings, and her take on fake scream queens. From auditioning for Quentin Tarantino to surviving the grind of low-budget horror, we'll unpack unfiltered stories from one of horror's most beloved icons. —

They're back from the grave and ready to party… again. The cult classic ‘The Return of the Living Dead' has been highly revered by horror fans for almost four decades. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary next year, DRagon Studios now presents a new feature film from The Return of the Living Dead Universe titled, ‘Trash's Revenge'. Trash, an iconic character made famous by Linnea Quigley, the iconic 80's scream queen known for her roles in ‘Night of the Demons', ‘Creepozoids', and ‘Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers', is back. If that wasn't exciting enough, joining Linnea Quigley are original cast members Beverly Randolph, Thom Mathews, John Philbin, Drew Deighan, and Miguel Nunez. The project will also feature the talents of composer Francis Haines and makeup artist Tony Gardner. It's all very exciting and very much needed when you consider the mess the franchise ended up in with poor sequel after poor sequel. Alas, as of the time of this interview, those involved in trying to make Trash's Revenge a reality has discovered that, according to a statement put out, a company called Living Dead Media had illegitimately claimed copyright ownership and had been profiting from The Return of the Living Dead for the last 10 years without paying any royalties to the cast. This has resulted in the campaign being temporarily halted while this issue is sorted out. Trash's Revenge is not going away, we just need to be patient. This issue is something we discuss in this interview with Linnea, while also digging into the guts of Trash's Revenge, talking about the iconic original film, and even touching upon other areas of Linnea's incredible career to date. Once the campaign is live, fans and supporters can help make it a reality, here. The original cast and their drive to recoup what is rightfully theirs can be supported here. Chained (2012), Honeymoon (2014), and Relic (2020) With over 60 episodes so far in our podcast history, we realized that in all that we covered, we had never covered anything by a woman director. We knew we needed to change that. Going through the history of women directors, we realized that not only wasn't something new, but have been working in the industry since the beginning of film. And in the last two decades, have really started to show their stuff. So to help celebrate Women's History Month, we figured it was well past due that we tackle three films that were directed by women, once again, picking three random titles, but amazed to find just how similar they were to each other, not to mention being very effective in their craft, and storytelling. Movies mentioned in this episode: American Mary (2012), Army of Darkness (1992), The Babadook (2014), Chained (2012), Cockney vs Zombies (2012), Coffy (1973), Dead Hooker in a Trunk (2009), Fear Street: Part One 1994 (2021), Fear Street: Part Two 1978 (2021), Fear Street: Part Three 1666 (2021), Ganja and Hess (1973), Ginger Snaps (2000), Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1988), Honeymoon (2014), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), In My Skin (2002), Inside (2007), Invasion of the Body Snatcher (1956), Kids (1995), Look What Happened to Rosemary's Baby (1976), Maniac (1980), The Monster and the Girl (1914), Near Dark (1987), The Nightingale (2018), Pet Sematary (1989), The Pit and the Pendulum (1913), The Relic (1997), Relic (2020), A Serbian Film (2010), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Starry Eyes (2014), Slumber Party Massacre (1982), Street Trash (1987), The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014), Vampire (1915)

Since his arrival Pete's been guilty of trying to bring some class to the podcast by selecting films that have something to say or are even artful. Much to the delight of Charlie and Nate this is not one of those times. Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers is as advertised. Hookers from Hollywood killing John's with chainsaws. That's it. Boobs, blood and...well...boobs. It's definitely a strong recommend for a hilariously good time!

Our job was simple enough: find a missing dame. But when you get tangled up with the Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, things get messy. Looks like Corie and Sarah have their work cut out for them on the seedy streets of Hollywood.
The boys embark on their 100th episode by donning their detective outfits and investigating the underbelly of 80's LA in search of a missing girl. Will they defeat an ancient cult of chainsaw-worshipping sex workers? Or will they get distracted by discussing novelty cocktail ingredients, the best way to die, and the universe hidden inside Greg's belly button? A private detective stumbles on a cult of chainsaw worshipping hookers while searching for a missing girl.
On this edition of Parallax Views, July 4th is just around the corner. What better way to celebrate than hitting the beach! Of course, if you're not careful in that water you could get munched up by a shark like in JAWS. Or worse... PIRANHA WOMEN! Piranha Women is the latest effort of Charles Band's long-running horror/fantasy/sci-fi factory Full Moon Features. It's also a return to said genre for it's director, the legendary independent filmmaker Fred Olen Ray. For a number of years now Fred has been working on TV, including making Hallmark Christmas movies with Chevy Chase and Lifetime thrillers. For him filmmaking is not merely some hobby, but a profession. Simply put, he's a working class filmmaker. Prior too much of his television work, Fred directed a great number of horror, sci-fi, action, and fantasy pictures during the VHS boom in the 1980s and a number of erotic thrillers during that genre's popularity in the 1990s. Among some of the cult classics Fred has directed are Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, The Tomb, Biohazard, Cyclone, Evil Toons, Inner Sanctum (one of the most successful video rentals of the 99s), Beverly Hills Vamp, Witch Academy, Alienator, Deep Space, Star Slammer, Bad Girls from Mars, Mind Twister, Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfolds, Inferno, Possessed by the Night, and countless others. Through it all he's worked with such well-known actors as Ice-T, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, David Carradine, Sybil Danning, Martin Landau, Nightmare on Elm Street's Heather Langenkamp, Eric Roberts, Gunna Hansen (Leatherface in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Morgan Fairchild, comedy movie legend Eddie Deezen, Bond girl Britt Ekland, Twin Peaks' Russ Tamblyn, Sid Haig, and many, many others. A monster kid that grew up on drive-in horror movies, Piranha Women marks Fred Olen Ray's returns to the type of fun genre fare that's made him a cult figure amongst cinema buffs. And it stars such beauties as Carrie Overgaard and Keep Chambers as the deadly titular fish women. In this conversation Fred and I discuss a number of topics including: - The secrets of indie filmmaking from matching shots to filming big name actors on a schedule - Working with classic actors like John Carradine, Aldo Ray, and Cameron Mitchell - The tricks he used to film the animated monster in the ambitious low-budget live-action horror Evil Toons - Working with Full Moon and thoughts on the promotional wizardy of Charles Band - Filming nude scenes with actresses - How to make films on low-budgets and tight-schedules - The craft of filmmaking - Orson Welles' cinematographer Gary Graves and his sabotaged film Moon in Scorpio - How he began working on Hallmark and Lifetime movies; what TV networks expect out of him as a director and why he gets the job - Filmmaking as a job rather than a hobby - The killer ta-tas gag in Piranha Women - The rise and fall of the "Scream Queen" cycle of films in the 1980s directed by Fred, Jim Wyrnoski, and David DeCoteau starring actresses like Linne Quigley, Michelle Bauer, Brinke Stevens, and Kelli Maroney - Advice to young filmmakers and what Fred looks for in young filmmakers (including discussion of Fred's producer credits for Steve Latshaw's Jack-O, which was recently re-released on Blu-Ray by Fred's Retromedia company, and Henrique Couto's Bigfoot web-series Boggy Creek) - And much, much more!

Acomi and Turk182 put on their cargo pants, director's jacket, and pack their primitive language translation book and explore the mountain caves that lead to The Phantom Empire (1988). Directed by B-movie champion Fred Olen Ray, and featuring Sybil Danning, Jeffrey Combs, and Robby the Robot the laughs in this campy sci-fi film don't come from the intentional jokes, but from the things that aren't meant to be funny. After a cave dwelling creature wearing a necklace of uncut diamonds attacks a family at the park, a treasure hunter is hired to explore the mysterious caves and find the source of the diamonds. But, the amassed group is unprepared for a race of cave dwellers, scantily clothed primitive cave women, an evil, leather clad queen from outer space. Oh, and diamonds! The also find diamonds! Ridiculous at every turn, and laden with jokes so old and stale, a funeral was held for the typewriter they were written on. Join Acomi and Turk as they watch with glee and ask questions the movie has no intent on answering. The Phantom Empire (1988) is everything you come to expect from the director of Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Alienator (Let's Watch! Season 3, episode 29), Bikini Frankenstein, and Wizards of the Demon Sword. Prepare yourselves for the unknown horrors that lie within the caves, and Let's Watch! The Phantom Empire (1988). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. We watched "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers" and previewed Wrestlemania.
Acomi and Turk182 Michael down their Vincent's as the watch the Fred Olen Ray sci-fi snoozer Alienator (1990). Usually, you can count on Fred Olen Ray to deliver some low budget, easy to please, 1980 VHS style entertainment. Something that's light on plot, but heavy laughs; whether intentional, or unintentional. The writer/director of classics like Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Prison Ship a.k.a. Star Slammer, and Cyclone (1987) with Heather Thomas and Jeffrey Combs. But, not this time. Barely entertaining, with a plot thinner than a spiders web, and characters that are so unlikeable they can't even be clichés. Braces yourselves and envision thoughts of Airwolf as you join Acomi and Turk for Alienator. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. This week on the Bad Taste Video Podcast we dove back into the Camp Motion Picture library and watched the 1988 Fred Olen Ray slasher/comedy "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers"! This film has almost all of the tropes from an 80's horror film that you can think of only they're actually executed pretty well! Do you wanna see Leatherface peeping through windows like Gary Busey? Do you have a fixation on 80's scream queens? If you answered yes to either of these questions then gas up your chainsaw and join us on this weeks episode of the Bad Taste Video Podcast!
This week on the Bad Taste Video Podcast we head out to the desert for some good old fashioned Native American revenge with the 1983 supernatural slasher "Sclaps". From the Mind of Fred Olen Ray, the creator of such masterpieces as "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers", "Biohazard" and of course "Evil Toons", this one is heavy with the synth score and heavy on student slaughter! So get your digging supplies together and try not to get possessed by an evil native spirit because this is Bad Taste Video!

When you think of cinephile director's, the names that usually come to mind are Joe Dante, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino...but what about Fred Olen Ray? Ray is the filmmaker behind such video store classics as EVIL TOONS, HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS, and ARMED RESPONSE, but he's also a massive film fan. He wrote a book called THE NEW POVERTY ROW about independent distributors, casts forgotten stars, like Bowery Boy actor Huntz Hall, in his projects, and he also runs a DVD distribution company RETRO MEDIA where he's released films like PLANET OF THE DINOSAURS, THE ALIEN FACTOR and THE BEAST FROM HAUNTED CAVE with brand new special features. Fred was nice enough to take some time to have a chat with me about his film fandom and directorial career, so I hope you enjoy the discussion that jumps right into his answer to my question “How do you cast your pictures?” RETROMEDIA'S FACEBOOK PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/The-Official-Fred-Olen-Ray-Page-113544948689048/ THE BET OF FROM THE JACK-O COMMENTARY TRACK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1rirOuQsDg

Chainsaws have characterised modern horror films since the 1970s. These franchises include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Evil Dead, and the one we’re discussing today… Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. While scouring HMV for the Fifty Shades of Grey boxset, Jack discovered a forgotten masterpiece. Heartlessly shunned by The Academy, this 1988 grindhouse flick has everything a wholesome family film needs: Hollywood, hookers and chainsaws. This is an actual film. We watched it.

Brock and Pickens discuss 1988's Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. Pickens shares his impressions of meeting HCH stars Linnea Quigley and Gunnar Hansen (of another chainsaw fame) at a horror con, and Brock crafts a cocktail as cold as the titular sex workers' hearts. There's also Richard Gere/gerbil talk. It was only a matter of time.
Special Guest Comedienne Ronny Pascale of the SH*T Show: The PoopCast stops by to give us insight on how a zombie horde can effect the amount of doo-doo in your undies. Be sure to check out Ronny (on Twitter https://twitter.com/ronnypascale) and the SH*T Show (on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/shttshow) for a ton of laughs! Hey remember that time that Louisville, Kentucky was overrun by party zombies, nuked and then became even more overrun by zombies? Yeah us neither but this is a true story! At least the film says it is. True or false, this film shows that the living dead in the 80s can be just as much fun as your average group of teens who like sitting around a cemetery. Party! Return of the Living Dead is a rare and special kind of film. While being a straight up zombie movie, it breaks through the cliche's and genre staples to have a wild and fun time. The comedy is top notch and the almost Zucker Bros style of introspection on the genre is appreciated. Combine those eliminates with dripping 80s motifs, a killer soundtrack, amazing practical effects and stellar performances by the cast and this is a can't miss film. James Karan steals the show as the bumbling, but likable Frank. His over-acting is wondrously entertaining and should have birthed a career of this character for him. Frank is just one half of a duo (alongside Thom Matthew's Freddy) that could have spawned one of the most beautiful onscreen friendships, but sadly they were turned into zombies. Then there's Clu Gulager (say it with me) and Don Calfa's Burt and Ernie who try to steal the show as well. There's a lovable gang of punks showcased by the naked for 90% of the film Linnea Quigley (see Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers) who draws up one of the most memorable scenes of on screen nudity for the entire decade. It's silly, goopy, sexy, and chock full of riffable moments. Return of the Living Dead is a hallmark film in any genre, but takes the cake in the over-saturated genre of the zombie. Whether you like zombies or not, it is a film that you will enjoy.

When it comes to making a title that is indicative of the plot, well this one nails it. Take 33% LA noir detective business, 33% chainsaw murders and 33 1/3% dancing topless hookers and you've got one of Fred Olen Ray's masterpieces. Hard to not love this blast o' laughs. HCH (to save time) is hilarious...and quite intentionally. It's the opinion of this writer that Fred Olen Ray could have easily linked up with the Zucker Brothers and Jim Abrahams. If only he had been involved during Jane Austen's Mafia. It may have not been the turd that it was. There's plenty of slapstick and parody that keep the viewer focused on the jokes more than the huge boobs (which is quite the achievement). Then there's the cast. Wowie. Its a cavalcade of silly performances mixed with killer comedic timing that really take this movie about boobs from a late-night wankfest into a 90% on Rottentomatoes.com. Linnea Quigley, John H. Richardson, Michelle Bauer, and Dukey Flyswatter (Michael Sonye) kill in front of the camera and put on a clinic of how to make a low-budget movie one heck of of a great time. It should also be noted that friend of the program, Christopher Olen Ray, appears as Kid at Bar, who gives the lead quite the snark while enjoying a fancy martini in a dingy "get stabbed" strip joint. Standing ovation. HCH cannot be missed by any fan of the genre and shouldn't be missed by the majority of film fans. It's up there with Hell Comes to Frogtown in low budget and exceptional pieces of art. Bravo Fred.
