Today's guest, Jack Matthews, is a digital marketing expert. Jack started his career in Aly, a small town in North Carolina. He was a dreamer so he left his comfort zone and went to California to work for his dream life. He moved but he had no clue what he will do to live his dream but he knew only one thing ‘working hard'. Jack started struggling for his career while people back in his hometown were curious about his progress and everyone was thinking "whether he will make it or not". Soon Jack started selling Toyotas and started progressing and then he met with a person who changed his entire life. Due to his mentor's belief in him, he started his digital marketing agency and now he is living his dream life. Today Jack is sharing with us how he moved his career toward the internet and he is also talking about many other worth-listening topics. Jack is sharing with us his entrepreneurial journey and he is also talking about the value of having mentors in life. He says that sometimes in life we just need a push and a mentor is someone who inculcates belief in you, pushes you in the right direction, and sets you on the path of success. Science of having a mentor is all about “surrounding yourself with better quality of people” and if you surround yourself with the right people your life will be better one day. Jack is also talking about the power of the internet. He says that the internet is a powerful tool and we need to educate people on how to use this power. We are living in times where the internet is a real opportunity to empower people. Through this tool, we can share knowledge across the world and we can also monetize any great idea. Jack is also encouraging everyone to monetize their content and build their business online because during the pandemic people who were affected the least were the people who were working online. We need to understand that nowadays money follows attention and social media is a great platform to grab the attention of your audience. So, keeping this fact in mind, that this is an internet age, we must take our business online to survive and thrive. Jack is also helping people to recognize their voice online. He has a mission to create a massive movement of thought leaders by build a community of leaders that actually move things forward rather than blaming. Jack wants to bridge the gap between those people who need the information and those who have the information. Jack is also sharing the right way to do anything. He says that you should do things with a structure. Have a written plan, and back your action with a solid belief that you will make it happen. Jack says that his life started changing when he started writing plans and started giving himself directions. Episode Summary:  Skimmer is pool service software for business owners that replaces the traditional paper-based system. It allows pool service professionals to track their customers and email personalized service reports; customize and optimize their routes; track repairs, service calls, and filter cleanings; keep a shopping list for parts, and create invoices.  We sit down with Skimmer CEO Jack Nelson and Head of Marketing and Business Development Kevin Embree. We previously had Jack on the podcast in Episode 138 alongside Skimmer's Managing Consultant Ryan Hash. In this conversation, Jack and Kevin reflect on their journeys in the pool industry, how they came to be involved with Skimmer, and what's on the roadmap for the company.  Listen in as Jack and Kevin share how they entered the world of pools and why they dedicated themselves to developing the technology offered by Skimmer. They go deep into what makes effective software for the pool professional and their owner-centered approach to deciding which features need to be added or further optimized. We also take a deep dive into tagging, mass emails, and the new billing/payments features.  Topics Discussed:  01:22 - An introduction to Jack Nelson  11:41 - An introduction to Kevin Embree  22:10 - How Jack and Kevin met  27:49 - The most popular features of Skimmer  31:21 - How to know the software is working for you  32:24 - Expectation of professionalism  35:20 - Skimmer dashboard possibilities  37:30 - Focusing on being an owner, not just an operator  50:03 - Skimmer's new tagging and mass emails  58:43 - Skimmer's focus on simplicity  1:09:41 - Developing the new billing/payments feature  1:14:17 - Customizing invoices  1:19:43 - What's on the roadmap for Skimmer?  1:30:21 - How to reach Skimmer and discount  Sponsors:  Skimmer  Leslie's  Pool RX  CCH  Connect with Guest:  Episode Webpage  Website  Training Videos  Facebook  Instagram  Twitter  LinkedIn  Connect with Pool Chasers  Website  Instagram  Facebook  Facebook Group  Twitter  YouTube  Patreon  Key Quotes from Episode:  What I found was, there's not a lot of focus [by the pool professional] on the app. The focus is on their job and that's what you want. Every time you have a software, you don't want the person to have to focus on the software. You want them to focus on what they're trying to accomplish with the software. ~Kevin  The expectations that pool owners have are evolving rapidly to where there's an expectation of professionalism that probably didn't exist five years ago. ~Jack  The key to Skimmer is keeping it simple. It needs to be reliable. It needs to be secure. It needs to be fast. It needs to be simple. ~Kevin  It's not just about the software. It's about elevating the industry and the people in the industry to accomplish whatever they believe they want to accomplish. And the simpler we make our software and the more features that we add to it without them having to take a class to learn how to use it, the better. ~Kevin  Get 50% off of your first 2 months by going to getskimmer.com/poolchasers.  ~Jack

It has come to light in recent days that REX was the ‘power behind the throne’ in the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against NAR (and subsequent settlement). The suit alleged that the trade group’s rules on commissions artificially inflate the fees paid to real estate agents and put illegal restraints on competition in the market. So, what inspired the upstart firm to take its concerns to the DOJ?   Jack Ryan is the Cofounder and CEO of REX, the digital alternative to the residential real estate agent. REX uses big data and AI to provide consumers with a significant cost savings and an improved customer experience. On this episode of the Industry Relations, Jack joins Rob and Greg to explain why REX went to the Department of Justice and address the perception that his team is hostile to organized real estate.   Jack offers his take on why a commissions drop is not bad news, describing his libertarian vision of the future of real estate and how all involved would benefit—including MLSs, brokers, agents, consumers and communities. Listen in for Jack’s insight on eliminating the friction from the home buying process and find out what would have to change for REX to join the MLS.   What’s Discussed:     Why REX went to the DOJ with NAR’s ‘illegal restraints’ on competition in the market What differentiates REX from other residential real estate brokerages What’s behind REX’s decision not to join the MLS Eliminating repetitive, standardized activities to make the real estate transaction more efficient What the REX workflow looks like from a buyer’s perspective Why Jack is more concerned with changing the system than making money Jack’s argument that a commissions drop is not bad news How Jack thinks about eliminating the friction from buying and selling a home How a seller benefits from working with REX in terms of cost savings and level of service The perception that REX is hostile to organized real estate and what would have to change for Jack to join the MLS Jack’s libertarian vision around the future of real estate How REX’s AI continues to improve and Jack’s intent to make the tech available to other brokers and agents   Connect with Jack: REX Connect with Rob and Greg:  Rob’s Website Greg’s Website Resources:  Rob’s Piece on REX and the DOJ Video of Jack on Vendor Alley Jack’s Article on Real Clear NAR Code of Ethics Our Sponsors:  Cloud Agent Suite Notorious VIP

“Allow yourself to understand that your emotions are completely valid and sometimes you do need help for understanding and adapting to these emotions.” Jack Thomas is a survivor. Quite literally. About five years ago, when Jack was seventeen years old, he was involved in a serious workplace accident that nearly cost him his life and in the end, it did cost him an arm. As a result, Jack thought for a moment that he would never play drums, bass, or guitar again.  It has not been an easy transition as you can imagine. Re-learning how to play instruments with the use of only one arm has been both rewarding but also frustrating too for Jack. But with mental strength and support from his friends and family Jack has managed to achieve something most people would consider an impossibility. Jack’s story is remarkable, tragic, and not one without a struggle.  He had recently been featured on Drumeo and amongst other content, Jack performed “Duality” by Slipknot. The video has surpassed 1,000,000 views with an incredible degree of positive feedback. It has resulted in capturing the interest of several media outlets and exposure to a large audience. He has also earned a position at Drumeo, which he had started about a month ago (at the time of the interview). Overall, Jack has worked hard to get to where he is today and did so under very difficult circumstances. We can all learn something from Jack.   You Will Hear About…. What happened after Drumeo released Jack’s drum cover of Duality by Slipknot. The process of learning how to play drums, bass, and guitar with one hand. How the accident happened. The aftermath. Some of Jack’s fears. How Jack overcomes the obstacles in his life. An encouraging word for listeners.   Why Should You Listen? This episode is heavy and will make you feel a lot of different things. His story is one that we can all learn from and it puts things into perspective. If Jack can do what he does, what is our excuse? I cannot begin to imagine what life must be like for an amputee and to watch his drumming is so inspiring. This is a good one.   Duality by Slipknot - Drum Cover by Jack Thomas    Jack’s Socials Instagram YouTube   Follow ‘Drumeo Gab’ Instagram Facebook YouTube

Investing in real estate among younger adults is the best head start in building wealth.   A more flexible lifestyle. Control of your time. Investing in your mind. Seeing things from a future perspective, Jack has worked his way out to take advantage of his financial resources for more meaningful purposes. Though he often went through a lot of backlash from peers, fellow Marines and a sense of doubt from his family in achieving his goal, his laser-focused intention of creating a passive income made his way to purchasing his first property. With proper education, research, and reaching out to people who share the same passion of helping others reach their financial goal, Jack is now halfway to buying his second property.   Enjoy!   Favorite Quote   “Adding properties, renting them out, that's money in your pocket. The goal is to just have enough money to live off of with passive income. The willingness to "put yourself in situations where you don't have a clue." No Plateau - Need to put yourself in scenarios where you are inexperienced... To learn and build resilience. Why Jack shoots "one take" videos and doesn't edit --There is a focus on "getting things out there." Ship it. Publish. Take action. "The ability to publish is prioritized." You can build a bond with a teacher through their authenticity. Create and share what you're building in real time... People want to go on that journey with you (when it's real) How Jack has built such a high level of confidence in himself -- Had a great mentor who was a polymath. It was six months into being a designer... Jack was preparing to show some of his work. He framed it as "I'm not sure if this is any good..." His mentor told him, "Never discount what you're doing prior to showing it to them." Frame it right. KNOW YOUR WORK. Own the full interaction of your story. Explain how you got the answer. DO the necessary work to understand it at its fundamental level. Think as if you are going to defend your work as you present it -- "What would the worst critic say about this work?" How would I respond to that? Do your research and be prepared. That's how confidence is built. Be consciously competent about your work. Visualize Value -- Jack is a designer by trade. He has built his skills based on his previous decade working with some of the world's largest brands. He most enjoyed the strategic component of the process -- The articulation of the strategy through the use of compelling visual images. Think: How can I make this argument more visual? He helps businesses understand their value proposition He takes the same principle to consumers now with Visualize Value Leadership Development - Understand the individual components to transformation Curriculum - Organize it to a sequence of principles that build on one another. Share myths - What's incorrect Don't skip the foundation Share the problem - Don't just focus on the symptom Prescriptions can mask the symptom Help with transformation -- "Debug the code" "Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better." - Pat Riley As a leader, it's important to constantly set a new baseline. Consistency - "We're bad at understanding the compounding function." Resistance - Progress is a force you're pushing against. A first generation immigrant from Colombia, Jack has built a thriving business helping clients create buildings, brands and strategies through The Power of Design. I can’t wait to share this inspiring conversation where we cover a lot of ground, including: Jack's big podcasting milestone, and what he's learned from his experiences podcasting so far. Jack's incredible story of coming to America and getting into the architecture business. The Power of Design, and why it's important. What architects actually do. Jack's thoughts on self-doubt, and pushing through adversity. Three approaches to bidding on work and considering pricing, differentiation and value proposition. Time management, and what it means to actually be "productive." Jack's "car analogy" for achieving balance in life. How to improve relationships, and the importance of building trust not just with others but with yourself. Why Jack doesn't have any nonfiction recommendations for me. How Jack plans to "Do Better This Year" by trusting himself more. Cheers, Jack!

In this episode of the Millennials in China podcast we bring on our first interview guest! Jack Boller is an American Millennial from Virginia who came to China after graduation in 2010, and now runs a successful education consulting business spanning several Chinese cities. He shares his China journey from his humble beginnings as an English teacher in a small Chinese city, to how he managed to grind his way to success today. Show Notes: Jack’s unique reason for coming to China in the first place - via a century-old partnership program between his college and China. The tough first year Jack spent in the Chinese city of Fenyang, where he was one of only two foreigners in the city. Sacrifices always lead to rewards - how Jack significantly improved his Mandarin as well as understanding of Chinese psychology through his year in the third tier Chinese city. How a job in Shanghai turned into a business idea, which almost didn’t happen. How two important clients completely transformed and boosted the business - a small portion of people often provide the biggest gains. How Jack met his Chinese business partner, and how he tries to navigate all the horror stories we heard about doing joint ventures with local partners. Funny and down-to-earth hustle stories from the early days of his business, from teaching kids in Starbucks to renting out a “classroom” in a hotel. Jack’s big advice to aspiring entrepreneurs who want to test the waters in China, or anywhere. --------------------------- Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/millennials-in-china/id1503870294 Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0MwEJZnnZ2sNWje7wP0GaW?si=tWqgkgwoQCueTrEfeI3-6g Listen on Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cDovL21pbGxlbm5pYWxzaW5jaGluYS5jb20vcnNz Listen on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm6jqVbJ1SR_g9iTLFxyF1g Podcast Website: http://millennialsinchina.com Podcast Facebook: https://facebook.com/millennialsinchina Podcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/MillennialsCN Chris' Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisWood1821 Hope's Twitter: https://twitter.com/hope_freiheit Hope’s Instagram: https://instagram.com/hope_freiheit Hope’s Website: https://hopefreiheit.com

This is Part 3 of Stephen's interview series of Jack and Mike, the entrepreneurs who brought Bed Scrunchie to market. Bed Scrunchie prevents your bed sheets from getting loose. The topic is manufacturing. Jack and Mike describe what they did to get started and how you begin to trust anyone. A lot of decisions are made on intuition. How do you know when someone is trying to game you? Jack explains that you're going to feel it! You can't know good until you've seen good and vice-versa. The moral? You need to dive in and try. He bought a one-way ticket to China and told himself he wouldn't come back until he knew what he was doing. A good factory will send a car for you! How do you know if you are dealing with an owner, an associate, or a trading company? Jack and Mike describe their technique for making sure their idea for Bed Scrunchie was protected when they began working with overseas manufacturers. What tells you you've got the right guy? Testimonials? Referrals? They assessed who was actually helpful and put effort forth into helping them achieve their goals. You can't fake effort! This is an extremely inspirational interview where Jack and Mike break down the reality of what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur. On today’s episode of Tarot for the Wild Soul, we have the amazing, brilliant, and divine Jack Ferver as our embodiment of Queen of Wands! Jack Ferver is a New York based writer, choreographer, and director, and the co-host of the podcast, “Dance and Stuff.” His genre defying performances, which have been called “so extreme that they sometimes look and feel like exorcisms” (The New Yorker), explore the tragicomedy of the human psyche. Jack’s works have been presented in New York City at the New Museum; The Kitchen; The French Institute Alliance Française, as part of Crossing the Line; Abrons Arts Center; Gibney Dance, and Performance Space 122, to name a few. His work in film and TV includes “Outside Providence,” “Gayby,” and “Strangers with Candy,” among many other credits. Queen of Wands is the witch of the deck. Ruled by fire and water, this being is the embodiment of alchemy, creating magic, ceremony, ritual and channeled medicine wherever they walk. When we embody Queen of Wands, life becomes ceremony, and we allow ourselves to be a living vessel for Divine to come through us, regardless of what medium or method we are practicing with. As the creator of such fierce and intense channeled works, Jack is truly a witch before all else, desiring for their work, writing, and theatrical pieces to be of highest service. Jack also has a beautiful embodiment with The Magician, Seven of Cups, and Knight of Wands. The Magician because of Jack’s creative, channeling process — how he brings things that are within him, out of him into the world; Seven of Cups because of Jack’s amazing ability to rest in the deep dream space, allowing ideas to form from different varieties of media and medium; Knight of Wands, because Jack truly is a living embodiment of moving through the world as yourself, in a way that only you can. Topics in this episode: • How Jack connected with Michelle Pfieffer’s performance of Catwoman in his most recent theatrical piece • Jack’s process of creation, and allowing the muses to come in • How his experience training in Martha Graham technique opened his eyes to the kind of work he wanted to create • The kind of self care he needs to utilize before his immense performances • Psychic dramaturgy • How Jack’s experience of being an abused, bullied kid has inspired him to create work that helps and heals, and so much more! The mental transformation of ownership and how Jack’s manufacturing experiences helped him create a new way of managing the business side of his organization. How Jack came to the realization that his organization needed a system to operate more effectively. Why Jack believes that nine times out of ten when there is a problem in business it’s a systems problem that requires correcting the system rather than getting rid of a person within the organization. How creating a system, in his business, where everyone actively participated in the success of the business (and had a stake in that success) contributed to the overall success of the business at a time when so many other businesses were crumbling. Overcoming the boredom of repetition. How Jack kept everything interested by creating targets and goals, and celebrating them along the way, to avoid the fatigue and boredom that goes along with the repetition necessary for consistent corporate success. Jack’s idea of quarterly bonuses to help keep motivation and morale high and why that works better than annual bonuses paid out once a year. How Jack troubleshoots problems as they arise in his business and how his system for doing that helps him keep his organization on track no matter what’s going on in the world around him. ‘The cost of my self-education was six figures in mistakes and seven [or] eight figures in lost opportunity.’ If you have a poverty mindset, investing money in a mentor or spending more for a qualified contractor seems like a burden. But if you have an abundance mentality, it becomes obvious that spending a little more up front for coaching and devoting your time to the activities that will grow your multifamily business result in higher revenue long-term. Jack Petrick is the owner of Petrick Property Group, a real estate firm that specializes in multifamily acquisitions and improvements. He spent 15 years working as a firefighter in the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville, Ohio, before leaving to pursue real estate full-time.  Jack’s team focuses on on- and off-market multifamily assets, and to date, he has 100-plus rental units in Ohio and Florida. Today, Jack joins me to discuss his initial experience as a self-taught custom home builder. He shares the major shift that took him from a poverty mindset to an abundance mentality and describes how he would use his time differently if he could go back to those early days. Jack explains the importance of mentoring and masterminds, the concept of forced appreciation, and the decision to hire an assistant that doubled his revenue. In this episode, we’re at the Beyond Blocks in Seoul (the "capital city"), Korea. Chris Groshong, CEO of CoinStructive, caught up with Jack Tan of Kronos Token, a platform aimed at allowed token holders to access to elite trading strategies through a built-in trading desk. Kronos helps to bridge the gap between retail untrained investors and the elite 1% who have unfair access to the majority of global wealth, where they just get richer. Kronos disagrees with this premise. To solve this problem, Kronos sources and nurtures elite investing and trading talent which opens up the skillsets and strategies of these teams to KRON holders. In addition, Kronos leverages a variety of time-tested investment methodologies to battle unstable and volatile markets and pass the value to the users. This allows investors to benefit from enterprise trading strategies which help stabilize portfolios despite market conditions. As stated on the Kronos website: We are changing the rules once and for all. All KRON holders will have a chance to access the best strategies in quantitative trading and other investments within crypto. The mission of the KRONOS project is to: Attract, foster and retain the best trading talent globally Remove access barriers to the top investments Maximize resilience of the ecosystem through the intelligence of decentralized governance Our strategies carry a range of risk and return profiles, but are generally uncorrelated from the market. This means they can profit even when asset prices are falling. We will begin with high-frequency market making and proprietary trading, but will quickly add teams to trade "smart index", statistical arbitrage, and discretionary small-cap strategies.   The Kronos token helps bring elite trading strategies to the average investor   After listening to this episode you will learn: How Jack moved to the US when he was 7 with humble beginnings What nagging problem Kronos solves for investors The limited choices and options available to the average retail investor How Kronos provides access to liquidity, market making and trade execution Why Kronos structured their coin in Taipei, Taiwan with a focus on Asian markets An example of the use cases and stories from users of the platform The future outlook and vision of Kronos in 2-3 years How Kronos uses quantitative algorithms to drive intelligent trading 24/7/365 regardless of bull or bear markets Why Jack believes in thinking long-term and creating something bigger than yourself For show notes and more please visit: LAB Radio

Hey everyone, welcome back to another broadcast of in the trenches. I'm excited to have on the call today Jack born who's the CEO and founder of Deadline Funnel. Deadline Funnel is automation software that lets you add urgency to your marketing funnel so you can sell more in less time. In today's call, we talk a about Jack's origin story (how he got into software in the first place as a non-technical founder) and how Deadline Funnel software works. However, the majority of our conversation is focused around this idea of adding urgency to your marketing funnel, and how you can do so in an ethical and honest way. I've written a lot about urgency and scarcity on this blog and via my newsletter, often in the context of launches. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that you need to leverage these psychological principles if you want get the most out of your launch or any marketing campaign you run. However, one of the questions that always comes up is how can we introduce things like urgency and scarcity, especially when dealing with digital products or productizes services that are not, by their nature, limited. So this gets into the realm of business ethics. How can you and I use urgency and scarcity in an authentic and transparent way, and still reap the big rewards? Well, in today's conversation we get into that and much more. In this broadcast, Jack Born and I talk about: How Jack got his start in software How Jack made $20,000 in one week using the elements of urgency and scarcity in his launch Why email marketing works, and specific techniques to get a lot more out of your email list than you're getting right now Why deadlines are critical if you want people to buy now, and not later (and how to implement deadlines in the most effective way possible) How to create urgency outside of the last day of your launch or open cart sequence How to structure a sales funnel to get the most out of any launch or campaign you intend to run How to ethically deploy urgency and scarcity, even when offering digital products And much more. How to connect with Jack Born online: www.deadlinefunnel.com @deadlinefunnel Insights from Jack Born: “It is your obligation to move as many people as possible from the prospect category to the 'I love your stuff; you've changed my life' category.”  - Jack Born Get the Latest Broadcasts of In The Trenches Subscribe to In The Trenches on iTunes How You Can Support In The Trenches Did you enjoy today's broadcast of In The Trenches? How The Water Treatment Industry is Evolving and the Changes That Come With It with Jack Walker.   Episode 15: Show Notes.   Our guest today is Jack Walker, CEO of WaterTech Specialties Incorporated. Jack is also one of the founders of The Association of Water Technologies. WaterTech is a family-owned and operated business. They pride themselves on the diversity of their customer base, from small family businesses to Fortune 100 companies. Truly, they are small enough to care and large enough to make a difference.   In this episode we’re talking about what changes Jack has seen throughout his lifetime, what it was like for him transitioning his company to his children and what he thinks about water treatment in general.   We also talk about some things to think about when the season change and answer listener questions on “Pinks and Blues.”   Season Changes.   When seasons start to change you need to look at making changes to your programs. For instance, chiller and cooling tower cleaning.  If your customer doesn’t have filtration on their cooling tower, they should be cleaning their cooling tower a minimum of twice a year. It’s easier to keep a clean system clean than it is to clean up a dirty system. There has to be a synergy with mechanical i.e... cleaning and chemical. Whenever there is a season change it’s also recommended that legionella testing be done.  Any equipment upgrades or maybe you have to change some product dosing, you need to think of all those things next time you go to service your accounts, now that you’re in a different weather pattern.   Key Points From This Episode:   Jack’s accolade of Water Technologist of the Year 2017 by AWT. All roads lead to multi-family. It seems that no matter how you get your start in real estate, the vast majority of investors come to the same conclusion: For passive, everlasting cashflow, multi-family is the way to go. Jack Bosch came to the United States from Germany in 1997 to finish his college degree. He worked in the corporate world for several years, but soon found that it did not afford the life he wanted. His visa was dependent upon keeping his job, yet the company that was struggling, so Jack was inspired to start a company of his own. Attracted to real estate because of its cashflow potential, Jack got his start flipping land. Over the course of three years, he developed a system that allowed him to do 3,800-plus deals, and he achieved financial freedom in a short time. Jack eventually moved into the single-family space, developing a portfolio of rental properties, and he finally graduated to multi-family in the last year. Today he shares the specifics of his transition to multi-family, his experience raising money for the first time, and his advice for investors who dismiss apartment buildings as an advanced strategy. Listen as he explains why he would have liked to get into multi-family sooner, and how you can get started in the space with no prior experience. Key Takeaways [2:12] How Jack got involved in real estate Constant travel for work Only two weeks' vacation Not the life he wanted to live Company struggling, many lost jobs Visa dependent on employment Desire to start own business Real estate appealed because of cashflow [4:00] Jack's start in flipping land Could sell land for seller financing Generate long-lasting passive cashflow [5:36] How Jack defines a transaction One-time cash deals (flip house, get paid once) Temporary cash (give loan, receive interest) Monthly payments (flip land for seller financing, receive down payment + monthly installments for six to eight years until paid off) Forever cash (passive, everlasting income via multi-family) [8:47] Jack's transition to multi-family Began working real estate in 2002 As of 2009, still hadn't touched rental properties (thought too complicated) Discovered houses available for $50/ft² Purchased several dozen, rehabbed and managed themselves Made mistakes (bad tenants, spent too much on rehabs) Eventually found good property managers Learned to systematize Still not hassle-free (deal with one property at a time) Realized multi-family properties provide buffer [12:52] Jack's advice around the multi-family learning curve Acquisition, sourcing, negotiation, analysis and management processes are different Look for a partner-expert to learn from Jack did first deal on 93-unit in Louisiana with experienced friend Experience was ‘hands-on MBA in multi-family' Now building own team, additional funding sources Still works with partner on bigger projects Looking to build out own portfolio as well [18:10] Jack's experience with raising money First time on multi-family deal Benefitted from having reputation in market $1.4M raised in short time Felt responsibility as steward for someone else's money [21:01] Jack's conclusions about multi-family At top of favorite investment methods list Securing good property management company is key Low risk, high reward (extremely safe investment) 93-unit property has doubled in value Recession-proof (extraordinarily low default rate) [22:48] Why Jack would have liked to start multi-family sooner Cashflow would have been multi-fold higher Single-family experience did teach building, rehab Could have gone right to multi-family with proper guidance Employee mindset, thinking small held him back Success with early investments helped grow thinking Systems in place to make business scalable Some aspects of multi-family are easier than single-family [28:20] Jack's advice for investors who dismiss multi-family as an advanced strategy Shadow a coach/mentor Mentor acts as ‘time compressor' Help with mental hurdles, analyzing numbers [30:26] What Jack is excited about Cashflow affords family opportunity to travel (Trips planned to Europe, Asia, Germany, South America) Business continues while they travel Looking to secure 5,000 units in five years Transform lives of investors (up to 16% yearly average returns) Connect with Jack Jack on Facebook JackBosch.com JackBosch.com/apartments JackBosch.com/land Mastermind for Business Owners Resources TheMichaelBlank.com Michael's Products Free eBook: The Secret to Raising Money to Buy Your First Apartment Building

It was the hottest Boston Marathon in history.   Heat waves blurred the horizon as Jack and his competition toed the starting line, their uniforms already drenched in sweat. It was over 100 degrees, and spectators lined the course with sprinklers and garden hoses at the ready to cool off passing runners.   40 percent of the field dropped out that year, but, through smart racing and pure grit, Jack gradually worked his way into the lead and then into history as he crossed the line the champion of the 1976 Boston Marathon with a finishing time of 2:20:19.   The race was nicknamed - appropriately enough - the “Run for the Hoses”, and it was one of the biggest defining moments of Jack’s life.   “One” being the operative word.   Jack went on to record a personal best of 2:11:17 at Boston in 1978 and qualified for 3 consecutive Olympic Trials in the marathon in 1972, 1976, and 1980.   Jack also taught sports psychology at Tufts for 26 years and now works as a training consultant to the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge through which he has raised over $30 million for breast cancer research.   Jack has no shortage of insight when it comes to mental game, and he loves sharing that insight to help other runners.   Listen in as Jack discusses his tips and tricks for setting goals, bouncing back after bad races, and finding happiness in the process.     Here are some of the topics we’ll discuss today:   How Jack started running Jack’s progression from underdog to Boston Marathon winner The 1976 Boston Marathon Jack’s background in sports psychology Why it’s important to differentiate “victory” and “success” Jack’s advice on setting goals How to bounce back from a bad race   Questions Jack is asked:   3:55 How was your experience at ZAP Fitness? 6:15 How did you first get into running and what really sparked your passion for the sport? 19:45 What were the conditions for 1976 Boston Marathon? 21:13 Did your strategy change going into that race? 26:17 What were the last 8 miles of that race like for you? 31:58 How did it feel having the crowd cheering for you as you won the Boston Marathon? 37:03 What do you advise runners to do in regards to setting goals or multiple goals per race? 46:02 Why should we differentiate “Victory” from “Success”? 49:20 How do you advise runners bounce back from a ‘bad’ race? 57:13 How much time did you give yourself to ‘grieve’ over a disappointing race? 1:00:31 What’s next for you?   Quotes by Jack:   “I just almost had to keep pinching myself. ‘Is this really happening? I’m really winning the Boston Marathon!’” “Too much focus on the outcome will contaminate your performance….The process by which - if we attend to that, then the outcome becomes a byproduct of that process, and we have much more control over the process as opposed to the actual outcome.” “Part of the human condition is that we tend to confirm our greatest fears to ourselves, and if our greatest fear is to lose a race, we increase the likelihood of that happening by whatever means.” “Having a secondary goal to fall back on when we know the first one is gone - that can help keep your feet in the fire. If somebody goes to the starting line of...a marathon...wanting to qualify for Boston, and now their splits are telling them that’s not going to happen. You don’t want to just throw the whole thing out and find yourself giving up, and now you take nothing away from the race other than beating up on yourself….Have a secondary goal going in that you can fall back on.” “Victory is purely defined by the results, and success can be defined by an internal measure of what you did against what you felt you had to give.” “It’s running smart first, and tough second, and taking your last effective steps at the finish line and crossing the finish line knowing that no matter how else you may have executed the race, you probably could not have run any faster.”   Take a Listen on Your Next Run     Want more awesome interviews and advice? Today’s guest is the author, the man and motivational speaker behind all those wildly successful books: Jack Canfield. He is on the show today celebrating the 10 year anniversary of The Success Principles. This is a big deal. Jack was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1944. He spent his formative teen years in West Virginia, later attending Harvard for college. He began his career in 1967 as a high school teacher in Chicago. And from there built his career into the blockbuster brand and business that it is today. Today he is the founder and CEO of The Canfield Training Group and founder of The Foundation for Self-Esteem.  He holds a Guinness Book world record for having seven books on the New York Times best-seller list at the same time. Three key takeaways from the interview: How Jack lost $8 million at one point…entered a bit of depression, anger…and ultimately rebounded. One of Jack’s success principles that he believes paves the way towards financial freedom: Give More to Get More. The right way to focus on wealth to become wealthy. As Jack says, “You get what you focus on.” To receive some great freebies with the purchase of the new edition of The Success Principles, head over to TheSuccessPrinciples.com Follow Jack on Twitter @JackCanfield One of my favorite quotes from Jack: "Act as if you already are wealthy." - Click to Tweet.
