On this Wednesday edition of Sid & Friends in the Morning, Sid debriefs President Trump's speech last night before a joint session of Congress, essentially his first State of the Union Address since he's been sworn back in as POTUS. Democrats in attendance spent the evening ignoring, disrupting, and even being forcibly removed from the joint session, as they displayed a new level of pettiness and immaturity in protest of their President. In other news of the day, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is in the nation's capital today to testify in front of congress regarding New York City's status as a sanctuary city. Peter King, Anthony Cumia, Jeanine Pirro, Scott LoBaido, Steven Puchik and George Pavlou join the program on this hump day installment of Sid & Friends in the Morning. We've got CEO, Chairman and all-round legend Liam Bond on the show this week! Liam has his own social media company, is the chairman of grassroots football club AFC Crewe, and also runs and co-founded Mystery Away Days! Liam shares all his knowledge and experience in the beautiful game, and gives us the inside scoop of how to run a football club, and how the entire project even came to fruition. If you remember our AFC Crewe special last season with George Pavlou, this is the other half of that conversation George eluded to on that one night down the pub.It was also a bumper week for the Premier League, with some last minute winners, some bore draws, and contentious VAR decisions (shocking...) which Ben & Will give their expert opinions on. Shocking news with another betting scandal, and some instances of people being thrown under the bus hits the show this week.https://www.afccrewe.com/https://mysteryawaydays.co.uk/https://www.pbsocial.co.uk/#DropThePod Hosted on Acast. We have a VERY special episode this week, not only is it the 2nd offering of the week for FDP, but we also have George Pavlou from Nufan and AFC Crewe on the show!George is an avid Tottenham Fan (we know!!) but more importantly is one of the creative masterminds behind the social phenomenon that is Nufan & AFC Crewe.George talks us through the concept of what exactly a "Community Owned Football Club" is, how Nufan began and its inception, why AFC Crewe, and how he, alongside the club, managed to bag an ex-premier league player in Gary Taylor-Fletcher to join the club as manager! An insightful listen to understand the rigours and processes of grassroots football, an eye opener to some of the challenges smaller clubs face, whether it's trying to enter a specific county league, or ensuring FA registrations are correct.AFC Crewe website:- https://www.afccrewe.com/AFC Crewe merchandise is now available, head over to their store now:- https://store.afccrewe.com/#DropThePod Hosted on Acast. As promised, Bryan and Joe dedicate a standalone episode to Clive Barker's Rawhead Rex (from Books of Blood Vol.3), as well as its much maligned 1986 film adaptation by George Pavlou.Real talk: we don't hate the movie! It's not a good adaptation, but as a stock creature feature, it's fine.Plus: debating piss vs semen, Barker's take on folk horror, killing kids, and why the end of the film is worse than its monster costume.Wanna connect with the show?Bryan: @eviltaylorhicksJoe: @bstolemyremoteMusic Credit: Hellraiser Theme by Christopher YoungIf you like the podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe!Check out Anatomy of a Scream for more great content and the other Network pods Hosted on Acast. The DOtD cult brushes up on their fertility lore as they review George Pavlou's “Rawhead Rex”. We discuss the 3deep5me Rawhead lore, any potential influence Clive Barker may have had on the film, and the lads have a very intellectual conversation about the phallic imagery throughout the film. Spoilers in the stained glass.
linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This June is “VHS Cover Art” month at Catching Up On Cinema! Every week we'll be reviewing films with incredible cover art from the VHS era. This week, Trevor sits down for a solo review of George Pavlou's, Underworld (1985)! Also known by the title “Transmutations,” Underworld served as famed horror novelist Clive Barker's first writing gig in the world of film. Poorly regarded, and scarcely referenced among Barker's extensive body of work, the film has largely been discarded and forgotten by both it's author and the horror fandom alike. Not lacking in obvious subtext and themes relevant to the author and his body of work, the film, with it's low budget and pedestrian production values, feels in retrospect to be an incomplete vision, one that would later be much better actualized on screen in the form of Barker's later film Nightbreed (1990). Shit's been weird lately in the world y'all, so we're just leaning into it in 2021 with one of the most depraved, sadistic & creative writers in horror history. Welcome to Seeking Human Victims Season 9: The Clive Barker Terror Timeline! This is a little different than our previous TT seasons (Carpenter, Craven) in that Barker has only directed a small handful of films so he falls more into that Stephen King category of legendary creators as a writer who's works have been adapted many times over. In episode 1, we're looking at Barker's background and early life, his initial fame as a playwright and his transition into literature. The film we're covering was his first work on a film of any kind and he was hired to write the script for director George Pavlou after meeting him at a dinner party. The movie is 1985's "Underworld", and we're not talking vampires, werewolves & Kate Beckinsale but underground mutants, hookers & hoodlums in this late night British cable find!Available at all major podcast providers & our Patreon Page!Patreon.com/OGScare

With all of the unpleasantness surrounding Detention behind us, we now focus our attention on Episode 4 and we are absolutely over the moon to be joined by a guest this week. This week's guest is one of the hosts of the always exellent Podcast Under The Stairs, Mr. Duncan McLeish. His chosen film? Rawhead Rex. Based on a short story by Clive Barker which appeared in Volume 3 of his Books of Blood series, George Pavlou's 1986 rubbery creature feature is truly a sight to behold. Will you join Duncan in the "LOVE IT" camp or Barker himself in the "LOATHE IT" camp? The synopsis is as follows,When an unsuspecting farmer pulls up a stone column embedded in a barren field, he accidentally unleashes hell by awakening Rawhead Rex from his ancient slumber. With the seemingly unstoppable creature cutting a bloody swathe through the countryside, American historian Howard Hallenbeck is faced with the task of putting Rawhead back into the ground for good. When The Dancing Stops … Leave Our latest Film of the Week, José Padilha's "Entebbe", is a tale of crisis, violence, revolution, and the old order breaking down - which is probably why we start off by accidentally junking the running order. Eventually (and with far more discussion of interpretive dance and changing fashions in onscreen captions than we expected), we get to Off the Shelf and two of our favourite labels. Arrow Video unleash yet another ancient evil with "Rawhead Rex" - George Pavlou's adaptation of Clive Barker's short story of the same name which Tim takes a swing at. Meanwhile, Second Run have reissued Ivan Passer's Czech classic "Intimate Lighting", but does this orchestral comedy hit the right notes for Graham? Stay tuned till the end for news about next week's show, where we plan the most ambitious comic book crossover event since ... erm ... two weeks ago. Writer and filmmaker Kourtnea Hogan returns for the disastrous Rawhead Rex film adaptation by George Pavlou based on the short story by Clive Barker. Honestly, watching this film is NOT recommended. Even so, Luke, James, and Kourtnea get a kick out of rehashing it in all its B-movie glory! Topics include as they try to understand where it all went wrong: the stiff acting, all the things that make the monster-suit awful, the bizarre actions by all the characters, the uncomfortable sexual energy between the two main characters, the Jason-style rampage at the trailer park, and the final “twist” at the end. It was a painful watch, but the conversation has us all cracking up. The theme of IM 2009, "Making Management Scalable, Robust, Cost-effective and Revenue Generating", points to key issues of a technical and business nature that the field has been trying to address for many years, yet continues to struggle with. At the same time, this has not prevented dramatic progress in the technologies they manage. Networks continue to grow, communication services are getting ever more pervasive, and innovation in those services continues to grow. The question then arises, which impact does progress in management technology really have on the technology that it manages and its supporting businesses? Is the impact merely one of incremental improvements in economics, or is it more profound? If management was more scalable, robust, cost-effective, and revenue generating than it is, what would be the impact on the managed technologies and their adoption? Would we see even more rapid progress, would we see different and more powerful services than we do today, or would there be entirely new classes of applications that would suddenly become feasible? In other words, is management a bottleneck? On the other hand, is management in reality doing just fine and its challenges mostly imagined? In which areas does progress in management really matter, and why? Panelists: Alexander Clemm (panel moderator), John Strassner, Alan Ganek, Joseph L. Hellerstein, Larry Bernstein, George Pavlou
