DOCKET ALERTS:   The Supreme Court issued orders today, opinions coming Thursday.   The Wall Street Journal reports that Jeanine Pirro, the US Attorney for DC, is investigating banks for "debanking" conservatives.    Judge James Boasberg benchslapped Pirro's effort to magic away his order quashing her abusive subpoena on the Federal Reserve.   DOOFUS OF THE DAY: A judge in Mississippi disqualified all the lawyers in a case after finding that both sides cited fake cases hallucinated by AI.   MAIN SHOW:   The battle over the Kennedy Center continues. At the eleventh hour, the Center's Board appealed the order to take Trump's name off the building, citing a new rule that would strip all funding from the institution if Trump's name came down. The trial judge denied the requested stay, and so did the Circuit Court. Meanwhile, the Washington National Opera is suing the Kennedy Center for expropriating its $17 million endowment.   In the Eastern District of Virginia, Judge Leonie Brinkema issued a preliminary injunction blocking the administration from implementing the Anti-Weaponization Fund whether under a new name or not.   New reporting from Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in the New York Times reveals two revealing memos from White House advisor Will Scharf on suspending the writ of habeas corpus and the Insurrection Act.   SUBSCRIBER BONUS:   A federal judge in Massachusetts blocked Texas AG Ken Paxton's investigation into the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue, holding that it was plainly retaliatory for its support for his Democratic Senate rival James Talarico.   SCOTUS Orders List June 15 https://www.supremecourt.gov/orders/courtorders/061526zor_5if6.pdf   Jeanine Pirro's Prosecutors Probe Big Banks for Alleged 'Debanking' https://www.wsj.com/finance/regulation/jeanine-pirros-prosecutors-probe-big-banks-for-alleged-debanking-13568e9b   Powell/Fed Reserve Subpoenas https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/72490330/in-re-grand-jury-subpoenas   ActBlue v. Crime: TBD.   US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro continues to harass the Federal Reserve. This time she sent prosecutors to bang on the door demanding to inspect the ongoing renovations.   The Trump administration uses the threat of administrative sanctions to force changes it can't get from Congress or the courts. The Justice Department extorted $17 million from IBM — which just so happens to have billions of dollars in government contracts! — for committing DEI "fraud." And the FTC forced brand advisers to agree not to "discriminate" against conservative media outlets.   On a more positive note, a judge in Maryland continues to block the ICE facility being constructed in the state, and Judge Richard Leon put the kibosh on Trump's ballroom … again.   MAIN SHOW:   A jury slapped Live Nation and Ticket Master in the antitrust lawsuit filed in New York. Today's Headlines: The Iran ceasefire is on "massive life support" per Trump, while Iran's foreign minister insists their latest proposal was reasonable — and the administration responded by sanctioning 12 companies helping ship Iranian oil to China, days before Trump flies to Beijing to meet Xi Jinping, where that will definitely not be awkward. This is further complicated by reports that China was preparing to deliver new air defense systems to Iran last month, meaning both China and Russia are now actively supporting Iran, great. On the Hantavirus front, 18 Americans from the cruise are back in the US, at least 2 appear infected, and the other 16 are being monitored at a federally funded biocontainment facility in Nebraska — the WHO still says global risk is low and this is not another COVID. In other news, Trump's plan to paint the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool "American flag blue" was quoted at $1.8 million — it's actually $13.1 million, no other contractors were allowed to bid, and the justification was that delays would cause "serious injury to the government." Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy filmed a road trip reality show visiting historic landmarks, which a watchdog group alleges was sponsored by Toyota, Boeing, and United Airlines — companies he's supposed to regulate — through a conveniently named nonprofit funded by auto companies. Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Max Miller was accused in court filings of throwing boiling water on his ex-wife while their 2-year-old was present — also not his first abuse accusation, having previously been accused of assault by then-White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham in 2020. Texas sued Netflix for spying on children, collecting user data without consent, selling viewing habits to data brokers, and designing the platform to be addictive — Netflix says the lawsuit lacks merit. The guy who stormed the White House Correspondents Dinner pleaded not guilty, with his attorneys arguing that both acting AG Todd Blanche and Jeanine Pirro should recuse themselves since they were both at the dinner. And finally, NBC is launching a Wordle game show hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Jimmy Fallon.  Resources/Articles mentioned: AP News: Passengers from virus-stricken cruise ship fly to home countries for monitoring CNN: Live updates: Trump says ceasefire with Iran on ‘massive life support' after he rejects Tehran's proposal NYT: Reflecting Pool Repairs to Cost $13.1 Million. Jon Herold comes into Monday a little roughed up from the Wild giving up nine goals, but he has receipts. Trump's latest Truth Social post says elections conducted unconstitutionally simply cannot stand, and Jon thinks that combined with praising Louisiana for suspending primaries, that is as close to a midterm cancellation signal as anyone has put on the record. Project Freedom kicked off over the weekend with the US Navy escorting stranded ships out of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran fired on vessels anyway, and the ceasefire Jon was told was over is apparently still being tested. Jon also plays back his own April 24 prediction that the Jerome Powell probe would reopen the moment Kevin Warsh is confirmed, because Jeanine Pirro just said the exact same thing on Fox. The DOJ announced an antitrust settlement with the Big Four meat packers controlling 85% of US beef processing, with more protein pricing settlements coming this week. Rudy Giuliani is in critical condition in the hospital, Ukraine is still being funded despite what social media is saying, the Tucker for president op is in full swing, and Jon explains in about thirty seconds why it is the same playbook as DeSantis 2023.

Why Hakeem Jeffries Is Desperately Attacking Karoline Leavitt over Trump Shooting | 4/28/26

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) just had a complete meltdown — calling White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt a “stone-cold liar” and a “disgrace” after she called out the Left's toxic rhetoric. In this explosive exchange, Jeffries lashed out at Leavitt for correctly linking Democrat demonization of President Trump to the assassination attempt-style shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Instead of condemning the violence, Jeffries doubled down, attacked MAGA, and defended his own “maximum warfare” comments against Republicans. Leavitt pointed out how years of Democrats and the media calling Trump a threat to democracy, a fascist, and worse have created the dangerous environment we're seeing today. Jeffries' response? Pure deflection and hypocrisy. We also cover: Ana Navarro claims WHCD shooting was staged? Fox News pushes Kash Patel on Trump security. Jimmy Kimmel receives a Twitter vomit from Melania Trump? Montage: The Left's HATE toward Donald Trump. King Charles III visits the White House & President Trump. This is exactly why Americans rejected Democrats in 2024. While President Trump and his team focus on securing the country and fighting real threats, House Democrats like Jeffries are still playing the same divisive games. What do YOU think? Is Jeffries' unhinged attack on Karoline Leavitt proof the Left is scared of accountability? Or is this just more Democrat deflection? Drop your thoughts in the comments

How Jeanine Pirro's Latest Move Risks DOJ's Reputation With Gun-Rights Activists (Ft. Kostas Moros)

The Weekly Reload Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 13, 2026 47:40

This week, we're looking at how the Department of Justice (DOJ) has performed on gun policy during the second Trump Administration and why Jeanine Pirro's newest legal filing could change the review. To examine the DOJ's track record, we have the Second Amendment Foundation's Kostas Moros on the show. He has been willing to defend the administration's overall approach to gun policy and to criticize moves he believes are likely to produce significant setbacks. He argued that the DOJ has actually been as pro-gun as any in modern history. In fact, he said a lot of the disappointment from online gun activists stems from bad expectation setting. He argued the DOJ was never likely to stop defending all federal gun laws, nor would that move guarantee the kind of gun-rights wins some believe it would. He also said the administration's moves to sue localities over alleged violations of the Second Amendment, as well as their efforts to back gun-rights challenges, even up to the Supreme Court, create a positive case for why it has been a good ally to gun-rights activists. Still, Moros admitted the DOJ has been pretty all over the place in its arguments at times. And he further criticized a new legal filing that stands to undermine a serious breakthrough in the gun-rights movement's fight against magazine bans. He said Jeanine Pirro, who Donald Trump appointed as US Attorney for Washington, DC, and who he is reportedly considering making the Attorney General, intervened to ask a DC court to reconsider its ruling against the city's magazine ban. Moros argued Pirro didn't need to say anything at all, given that she isn't actively defending the law, and that her filing makes it more likely the case will be reheard. That, he noted, could undermine the all-important circuit split on the question of magazine bans. Ultimately, Moros argued, that could keep the Supreme Court from settling the question and further sour gun activists' view of the administration.Special Guest: Kostas Moros.

US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro can't indict a ham sandwich, and juries are telling her to take a hike. Politico says Harmeet Dhillon, head of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, is in the running for the top job. She's currently trying to indict January 6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson for perjury — which has exactly nothing to do with civil rights. And Dhillon's office keeps losing when she sues states demanding they turn over their voter rolls. Will Republicans invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office? (No.) But the fact that we're asking the question shows how far we've come. And in Tennessee, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is trying to get his human smuggling case dismissed on grounds of vindictive prosecution. Both the government and Garcia filed their briefs this week. The government claims that prosecution started with an article in the local paper, the Tennessee Star. Which is weird because the case was reopened in Baltimore the week before the article was published — and DHS is actually the source of the reporting!Blanche Steals Bondi's Brown Nosehttps://lawandchaospod.substack.com/p/blanche-steals-bondis-brown-noseJustice Dept.'s Civil Rights Division Is Investigating Star Witness Against Trumphttps://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/us/doj-cassidy-hutchinson-investigation-trump.htmlKilmar Abrego Garcia [TN criminal docket]https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.tnmd.104622/2022 TN Traffic Stop of Kilmar Abrego Garcia Was Day Three of Trip That Originated in Houston, Took Detour to St. Louis, Crossed Trafficking Hubs and Areas with MS-13https://tennesseestar.com/justice/2022-tn-traffic-stop-of-kilmar-abrego-garcia-was-day-three-of-trip-that-originated-in-houston-took-detour-to-st-louis-crossed-trafficking-hubs-and-areas-with-ms-13/tpappert/2025/04/21/African Communities Together v. The corruption at the Department of Justice continues unabated as Donald Trump's friends and criminal associates continue to be rewarded for their crimes. Steve Bannon refused to comply with congressional subpoenas in an attempt to keep from testifying about Trump's January 6 crimes. Bannon was indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced for the crimes he committed. Then, Trump's hack U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, filed a motion to dismiss Bannon's case with no analysis or explanation. The Supreme Court just paved the way for Bannon's conviction to be thrown out. Glenn discusses the searing injustice of this development. This week, a federal judge temporarily blocked HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s overhaul of the childhood vaccine schedule and his appointments of vaccine skeptics to a key CDC advisory committee. Asha and Renato explain why agencies must follow administrative legal procedures and how RFK Jr.'s disregard for science and scientific expertise rankled the judge. Plus, they review the latest ruling from Judge James E. Boasberg, who rebuked the U.S. Attorney's office in D.C., led by former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, in its investigation into Fed Chair Jerome Powell. Renato and Asha examine how Pirro failed to meet the super low threshold of obtaining a subpoena and why the judge found the probe improperly motivated. They discuss how Boasberg's and Powell's pushback in the Trump era shows the legal system is still at work. Listen up! Nicolle Wallace covers the mountain of bad headlines related to the war in Iran: six more U.S. servicemembers have died, more than 140 have been injured, U.S. allies are refusing to help Trump reopen the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that they won't take part in a war they did not start, and gas prices don't seem to be coming down any time soon. Later, Nicolle covers new reporting that the Trump DOJ is struggling to bring valid cases against those Trump wants to prosecute, such as James Comey, Letitia James, and Federal Chair Jerome Powell. Nicolle Wallace covers the breaking news that a judge has derailed U.S. Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro's case against Federal Chair Jerome Powell. Judge Boasberg wrote that the DOJ was trying to use this case against Powell to pressure him to vote for lower interest rates or to pressure him to resign, and that there was little to no evidence presented to charge Powell with an actual crime. Later, Nicolle covers new reporting that suggests that the Trump administration underestimated the consequences of Iran retaliating to strikes by closing the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused gas prices to soar nationwide.
