Due to some issues happening around the time of recording. Ashley and The Vern had to postpone their usual live show, but have no fear. There is a really fun episode in it's place. The Vern found an old interview he had with the director and lead actor of a movie called The God Inside My Ear(Now Playing on Tubi). It was a very fun and insightful conversation about how to market an independent film for festivals and other platforms. So consistency has been a bit of an issue here lately. But to make up for that, we're bringing the girth. Prepare thy loins! We hope you like trailers, because do we ever have some trailers. Up first is the controversial remake of SUSPIRIA followed by more weirdness in THE GOD INSIDE MY EAR. Bigfoot is back at it again in BIG LEGEND as is Nicolas Winding Refn with a TV show called TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG. We head back indoors where things aren't fairing much better. OUR HOUSE and DOWN A DARK HALL might make you consider a vacation. Finally, we share the release date for ANOTHER WOLFCOP and give our thoughts on Jamie Foxx being cast as SPAWN. This week's review isn't a horror film, but it does come from veteran horror director Eli Roth. DEATH WISH met with backlash before it was even able to hit the big screen, and it didn't receive much love afterward either. Will we stand against the tide of hate, or was this just a major misstep for Roth? We end the episode with the ANTONYM game. It isn't the most competitive game we play, but it was still enough hype that we broke our equipment. It's a solid return to those external auditory meatuses with episode 149 of The Modern Horrors Podcast. Hit that play button and pass it around!

Producing a low-budget feature can easily be one of the most daunting undertakings you will ever experience, but also the most rewarding. The crash-course in filmmaking you receive will be unlike any other. This week on the show we talk with Writer/Producer/Director Joe Badon about his upcoming feature film "The God Inside My Ear." With a budget of $8000, and not a penny more, Joe write his script, assembled a cast & crew, and over the course of a few weeks, shot his first feature film. Starting out with how he got into filmmaking and working as a storyboard artist, and get into where he found his actors, his crew, locations, and how in the hell he managed to keep the budget so damn low! How do you make a feature film for just $8000 in 13 days? For writer/director Joe Baddon and actress Linnea Gregg, it was all about leveraging resources, maximizing creativity, and avoiding perfectionism. With no experience directing narrative content in the past, Joe Badon was able to pull the trigger on his first feature - The God Inside My Ear - by thinking outside of the box and surrounding himself with a team of talented filmmakers and artists. One of these artists was Linnea Gregg, who brought her expertise as a theater actor to the table, ultimately helping production reach the finish line in record time. Over the course of this interview, Joe and Linnea outline what it takes to pull off film without sacrificing quality, why shooting in a studio environment is a great option no matter what your budget may be, and the crucial importance of surrounding yourself with the right team.
