One a very special REMOTE episode of WILD IN THE STREETS, Doug calls in from Newfoundland to discuss the mixed up crime comedy MEAN FRANK AND CRAZY TONY from 1973. Featuring Lee Van Cleef as a tight-lipped mobster and Tony Lo Bianco as the wannabe wise-guy who worships him, the two get into all sorts of trouble, including an impressive car chase ("Mon dieu!"), a factory shootout and more power drill mayhem than you can throw an apple core at. There's plenty of action, Edwige Fenech and Jean Rochefort pop up in supporting roles, and you even get a horn-heavy score from Riz Ortolani. What's not to love? Listen and find out! The post Episode 273 – Wild in the Streets – Mean Frank and Crazy Tony (1973) first appeared on Cinema Smorgasbord.

Banned in 46 (*cough* more like eight) countries! Full of real (*cough* mostly simulated) death. This week, Duane and Desmond talk about 1978's Faces of Death. Then, Desmond goes solo on Faces of Death II, III, IV, and Faces of Death: Fact or Fiction?, as well as a further discussion on mondo movies. With an episode featuring some of the most graphic material ever watched in preparation for an episode of Dread Media, the music is some of the most sedate and (mostly) instrumental: "Jesus Doesn't Live Here Anymore (Single Version)" by Robert C. Wayne, "Ti Guardero' nel Cuore" a.k.a. "More" by Riz Ortolani, and the episode is bookended with tracks from the Faces of Death original score called "Washed Up Stiff / Rescue in the Cavern" and "Larry DeSilva Burnt Crispy / Public Execution" by Gene Kauer.

To celebrate Thanksgiving the guys traveled to the planet Mars to repopulate and attempted to find a movie as exploitive, horrific, disturbing, and violent as the holiday itself. That's right, for the holiday the guys review Cannibal Holocaust, the 1980 Italian Cannibal horror film from Ruggero Deodato, featuring the impeccable music of Riz Ortolani. The movie is considered to be one of the most controversial movies ever made, will we agree? (***Spoiler: yes, we agree. This movie features real, on screen, animal deaths, graphic depictions of torture and rape, and more. This movie/episode is not for the faint of heart***). Tune in next week for Rob's palate cleanser pick. (Hint: its an American film made 10 years after Cannibal Holocaust that is SEXY and FUN and SLIMY). Thank youuuuuuuu!

Buon ascolto, a tutti!!!

Andy and Lucas give this classic film of Ruggero Deodato's, Cannibal Holocaust, a watch and review in this episode. NOTE - This episode contains a discussion on traumatic events that could be disturbing to some. Please listen with caution. As well, the audio in this episode is very low due to a technical glitch when recording. We apologize and suggest listening through headphones or in a quiet space - or skip on to the next episode! In 1979, intent on venturing into the vast and unexplored areas of the virgin Amazon rainforest, a small American film crew attempt to make a documentary about the region's indigenous cannibalistic tribes, only to disappear without a trace. As the noted anthropologist, Harold Monroe, and his team of seasoned guides embark on a rescue mission to locate the missing documentarians in the heart of the Green Inferno, fearful tribes that no white has ever seen before will soon start to take interest in them. Inevitably, as the professor unearths more evidence about the fate of the film crew by sheer luck, a desperate battle to recover the raw footage that was paid in blood will commence--after all, the world must know the savage and unspeakable atrocities captured on the riveting unedited footage. In the end, what has really happened to the overambitious explorers, and the shocking final two reels? Written by Nick RiganasSpecial thanks to Ash St. John for the theme music.
