On this VIDEO episode Phillip is joined once again by Jason "The Vern" Hemming from the Cinema Recall podcast. Phillip starts the show by reading the general information about the movie with some trivia throughout. It's then time for Listener Opinions from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Jason and Phillip continue to talk about their favorite parts of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They have a great conversation. They answer the question of whether they noticed anything in this movie that Quentin Tarantino might have liked or used in a film. It's then time to individually rate the movie. Then they talk about whether they would buy the movie, rent it, or find it for free. Phillip then gives his Phil's Film Favorite of the Week; Flaming Star (1960) (3.5 stars). The Vern then gives some of his recommendations; Companion, Knock Knock, Death Game, and Hanna. Listen to Jason "The Vern" Hemming at https://www.cinemarecall.net/ Phillip then promotes next week's episode when he will be joined by Sam Panico from the B & S About Movies podcast to discuss 1967's The One Armed Swordsman. Thanks for listening
On this week's episode we take a look at a film that goes to some forbidden places when it comes to the way siblings are supposed to behave with each other. The Vern from Cinema Recall is our guest as we discuss the 1997 film This World, Then the Fireworks. It stars Billy Zane, Gina Gershon and Sheryl Lee. We also have our movie recommendations and, of course, our trivia game.
The Vern (from Cinema Recall) briefly reminisces about the various BLADE RUNNER comic book tie-ins including some which adapted Philip K. Dick's material verbatim into its own comic book universe! Then catch up with me later as I elaborate on the many comic books spin-offs including the most recent TOKYO NEXUS! In this one-off special episode of Bigger Movie Pod, we pay tribute to our dear friend and fellow presenter, Dave. We are thrilled to have his daughter, Emma, joining us as our special guest. We are also pleased to welcome back Darren, our former presenter, as we say our farewell. What began as a duo blossomed into a podcast family of four, plus a whole community of friends. We had big plans for this episode, hoping to bring everyone together, but time was not on our side. Earlier this year, we received heartbreaking news about Dave. Leading up to this final show, we collected messages from the podcast community to share with him, including heartfelt words from Dan of Casting Views and a touching note from Nico of Silver Screen Dudes and Movie Mount Rushmore. A huge thanks goes out to PollyAnnamazing from Buried Pleasures, who connected with us like family, even reaching out to Dave directly—a gesture he truly appreciated. We also want to recognize Josh from TalkingSMAC, Stew from Stew World Order, Ian from Best Film Ever, The Vern from Cinema Recall, as well as Leo, Le-Than, Slinky, and Wes for all their support. And of course, a massive thank you to all of you, our listeners. Your support and enthusiasm have kept this journey going, and we could not have done it without you. So, tune in as we celebrate the laughs, the friendships, and all the memories that have made Bigger Movie Pod what it is. Thank you for being part of the ride!

POP ART SAYS: A METHOD TO THEIR MADNESS– Episode 114, May December/A Dream of Passion. I am slowly getting the latest episodes of Pop Art up. There are reasons I am behind, but hopefully I will get back to normal soon. “I don't think we have enough hot dogs”. For these two films, I and The Vern of Cinema Recall, had a great time discussing two films in which actors, in order to help them create the characters they are working on, seek out either the person the film is based on (the Mary Kay Letourneau case for May December) or someone that resembles the role they are playing (a woman who murdered her children ala Medea for A Dream of Passion). We especially had a great discussion on such topics as the trope of a male teen having sex with an older woman and the different way that is treated when it comes to female and gay teens; whether either actor really achieved their goal; and some talk about camp and kitsch. So, join us for this great discussion. I highly recommend checking out The Vern's various blogs and vlogs, especially Cinema Recall at https://www.cinemarecall.net/ Check out my blog at https://howardcasner.wordpress.com/ My books, More Rantings and Ravings of a Screenplay Reader, The Starving Artists and Other Stories and The Five Corporations and One True Religion can be found at https://www.amazon.com/s?k=howard+casner&ref=nb_sb_noss Be sure to like, follow or comment on my podcast. In Fright Night, a teenager believes that the newcomer in his neighborhood is a vampire, so he turns to an actor in a television horror show for help to deal with the undead.. After true crime, the next biggest category in podcasting might be movie reviews. It seems like an easy thing to do - you watch a movie and then you talk about it. How do you screw that up? Well, apparently there a few ways to fail at this and the Vern is going to show us most of them. And when his cohost Ashley shows up it's even worse. Trucker Andy and Lucy Tightbox are both joining us to discuss how popular Vern was in high school as well as how good of a guest Cam Sully (from Jacked Up Review Show) is on this show. People need to book him more often. After that, Johnny Kush doesn't like Phil Elmore, Patty Broken Skull is going hard at people (in the chat), Stuttering John takes his ball and goes home (again) and for once it might actually be about his kids, Tom Myers finally writes some jokes about those racist Republicans, another round of To Catch An Alien, and much more. https://www.youtube.com/@OnceOverwithCayley https://www.instagram.com/allapologiespodcast Support us, get bonus episodes, Vic and Hannah pics, and watch live every Saturday and most Wednesdays: http://bit.ly/watp-patreon https://watp.supercast.tech/ https://bananabag.org/watp Use promo code WATP for 25% off your purchase Learn more about your ad choices. Today we took a break from radio jocks to check in on the new untalented broadcasters - YouTubers. Tana Mongeau and Brooke Schofield are now hosting a podcast that has over 2 million subscribers. There isn't a ton of brain power happening but when Matt Rife shows up... there isn't a ton of brain power. On this episode we welcome the return of Pat Oates whose daughter just happens to be a big fan of Tana Mongeau. We also discover a new character named Vern who hosts a show called Cinema Recall. Then we watch Stuttering John go off on Adam Hiniker for some reason. Joey C joins him to explain that Patrick Melton isn't scared of him and that he's an idiot. Imagine having Joey C explain that you're not understanding what's going on. We also play another round of To Catch An Alien with Cardiff and Kindy. https://www.youtube.com/@PatOates Support us, get bonus episodes, Vic and Hannah pics, and watch live every Saturday and most Wednesdays: http://bit.ly/watp-patreon https://watp.supercast.tech/ Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 220: The history and legacy of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure almost wasn't so excellent. Its original plot had to be changed during shooting, a major role was left uncast until the last minute, its original ending was abandoned for being, honestly, most heinous, and its production company went bankrupt during post-production.But, just like the movie, its ending was most triumphant. Bill and Ted would pass their history report, form Wyld Stallyns, and their music would create utopia on Earth. The movie would become cemented in 80s comedy, for not being totally bogus and giving us two of cinema's most bodacious heroes, as well as two sequels. Not to mention, it invented the internet (sort of!) and highlights the power of non-traditional scholastic education.Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes!I would love to hear your thoughts on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure !CONTACT.... How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!The world forgetting, by the world forgot:Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned; It's been almost 20 years since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was released, and it feels like nothing else comes close to depicting the cyclical nature of relationships so honestly, or so deftly. With pitch-perfect performances from Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet (both playing against type), a stellar supporting cast of Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood and Tom Wilkinson, and an atypical non-linear structure showing the deterioration of Joel and Clementine's relationship in reverse. Who among us hasn't asked what they'd do to remove the pain and hurt of an ex? Do soul mates exist? Are we constantly drawn to the same people, or people who remind us of the same people? Would we choose the instant gratification of memory removal, or the constant pain and sadness associated to that person leaving your life?Is it better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all?I would love to hear your thoughts on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind !CONTACT.... Hustlers was always going to be a tough sell. Based on the true story of a group of strippers who conned rich, white men, writer and director Lorene Scafaria found herself trying to sell it to... rich white men, who were less than enthusiastic about it.The key was the involvement of Jennifer Lopez. Not only was it the casting of Scafaria's dreams, Lopez had the skill and connections to make the production a reality. She would also receive lavish praise for her performance as Ramona Vega, and the whole cast would achieve a newfound respect and admiration for strippers through the training they undertook to appear in the film. While the movie didn't garner the accolades many thought it should have, it's a wonderful time capsule of the late 2000s fashion and music of the era, and the dynamic between Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez grounds it in heartbreaking reality.Drain the clock, not the c*ck...I would love to hear your thoughts on Hustlers (2019) !CONTACT.... Many of our listeners may remember the 2006 film adaptation of the perennial survival horror game series from director Christophe Gans, but how faithfully does it represent the atmospheric, psychological brand of horror its source material is known for, and how does it hold up as a supernatural horror flick on its own? Get our thoughts on our latest Collaboration Special, and stay tuned for a look at the Silent Hill franchise on the next Collateral Gaming: Bonus Round! Collateral Cinema will be joining to talk about the original PS1 title along with Homecoming. Not your average vampire story, Let the Right One In is a haunting, beautiful and unique take on vampiric lore, as twelve-year-old Oskar meets Eli, a young girl who moves into his building with her guardian. But Eli is more than she seems, as her 'father' Håkan is seen butchering young men and trying to collect their blood. His constant failure leads her to take matters into her own hands, and people in the small, snowy Swedish town of Blackeburg start disappearing and a woman she attacks starts to change...Oskar and Eli are two sides of the same coin. Eli is the monster that sweet, bullied Oskar wishes he could be, and Oskar... he's the companion Eli needs to survive. But just who are the real monsters in this story?I would love to hear your thoughts on Let the Right One In !GET IN TOUCH....
