Why do some people grow closer to God through hardship while others pull away from Him? In Episode 7 of "The Fear of the Lord," Duane Sheriff defines what the fear of the Lord truly means—and why it cannot be reduced to a mere concept or religious formula. The fear of the Lord is not a tormenting fear of punishment or rejection, but a holy reverence, awe, honor, and worship that flows from a genuine revelation of who God is.Godly fear comes through genuine encounters with God. Using examples from the lives of Jesus, Job, and Moses, along with practical illustrations from everyday life, Duane explains how the fear of the Lord produces righteous judgment, obedience, humility, worship, and intimacy with God. Jesus delighted in the fear of the Lord, and Job's response in the middle of devastating loss reveals the depth of reverence and trust that godly fear produces. When we truly see who God is, worship becomes our natural response.This episode will help you better understand the benefits of the fear of the Lord, how it transforms your relationship with God, anchors your faith during trials, and leads to deeper spiritual wisdom and maturity.Click for FREE offer ➡️https://pastorduane.com/landing/the-fear-of-the-lord

~~~~~~~ No 6 in the series - The Epistles of Peter. ~~~~~~~ **Considering 1 Peter 1:17-21** And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: Forasmuch as....... that your faith and hope might be in God. *1/ Our Father, God. 2/ How we are to pass the time of our sojourning here in fear. 3/ Five reasons to live in Godly fear.* - We were not redeemed with corruptible things - (1 Peter 1:18) - We were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ - (1 Peter 1:19) - Christ was foreordained for us before the foundation of the world - (1 Peter 1:20) - It is by Christ that we believe in God - (1 Peter 1:21) - That our faith and hope might be in God - (1 Peter 1:21) **Sermon Summary:** The sermon presents a profound call to live in godly fear before God, grounded in the reality of divine judgment, redemption, and eternal purpose. It emphasizes that believers, having been redeemed not by perishable things like silver and gold but by the precious blood of Christ—a lamb without blemish—must recognize the weight of God's holiness and justice. This fear is not rooted in terror but in reverent awe, shaped by the knowledge that Christ was foreordained before the foundation of the world and manifested in the last times for their salvation. Ultimately, this godly fear is not a burden but a mark of genuine spiritual life, reflecting a heart transformed by the grace of God and sustained by the assurance of His eternal covenant.
This is part 4 of the series titled Honor Releases Honor. In this message Pastor Vern teaches on the fact the meaning of Godly Fear. https://www.pacbible.org/
In today's message, Pastor Jack teaches us that the fear of the Lord is a misunderstood idiom, but it is actually a godly reverence that draws us closer to God and places us in a protective "safe zone," as seen in Jeremiah 32:40 where God puts this fear in our hearts so we will not depart from Him. He explains that this healthy fear, unlike demonic fear, is a good fear that motivates us to obey God's Word quickly and treat our relationship with Him with the utmost seriousness, because His Word has two sides—blessings for obedience and consequences for neglect. We learn that this reverence is His treasure that keeps our blessings secure from the enemy, and it is the key to walking in God's will, just as Jesus did. Pastor Jack encourages us to have a healthy concern, not worry, and to work out our salvation with "fear and trembling," meaning we should obey God promptly. He clarifies that while sins can lead to weakness, sickness, or even premature death, only the rejection of Christ leads to eternal damnation. Finally, he emphasizes the power of our words, teaching that we must get God's Word in our mouths and keep it there until it registers in our hearts, for as we speak it in faith—even in desperate situations—it will bring life and success, just as Joshua was instructed to do.Tune in now!Join us for service every Sunday at 9 and 11am (PST) and Wednesday at 7pm (PST)If you received Christ through this message, text JESUS to (253) 859-0832We would love to hear how God is touching your life through this ministry! By Scott Brummett - What you fear takes control of your life. Who do you fear- God or man? Hypocrisy can sneak into our lives when we lose awe of our heavenly Father. This sermon dives into the importance of why and how we must go about instilling this Godly fear into our hearts and minds in order to prevent hypocrisy.
Hebrews 12:24-27 KJV - And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. 25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire. Revelation 14:6-7 KJV - And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters
Unfortunately, fear seems to be considered a sin among Christians which causes some to lie about the fear they experience. We are not to embrace fear, but we don't ignore it either. Many great people in the Bible such as Moses, Daniel, Joshua, David, and Paul experienced fear. Yet, some in the church are frowned upon when they admit they experience fear. Fear is NOT the opposite of faith, but it can be a by product of what is the opposite of faith. In this message we look at fear and how the Bible lets us know that there is a good fear to have. The good fear can help us to overcome the natural fears we may face.
The Gospels tell us the story of John the Baptist and Jesus in distinct ways. Mark's narrative is a fast-moving action story, comparable in some ways to John Grisham's style. Attention to Mark's use of the aorist tense in particular helps us appreciate where the real action is. Tap here to send us a message!It is essential for everyone who reads God's Word to recognize the profound difference between earthly fear and the fear of God. Unchecked earthly fear can paralyze us and hinder our relationship with God. Fear is an emotion experienced by both man and beast. It can be a powerful motivator to escape danger. We often see this in nature films, where impalas and other herd animals flee from becoming a hungry lion's dinner. Caribou instinctively run from wolf packs, sensing that it's not a good idea to stick around to see what these canines are up to. Fear also motivates us. We fear volcanic eruptions. Those who aren't moved by fear may learn the danger too late. Such was the case when Mount Vesuvius erupted on August 24, 79 A.D., spilling hot ash into the city of Pompeii and turning those who failed to take warning into statues depicting first century life in the licentious Roman city. Who or what do you fear? Heights? Water? Public Speaking? Death? Or are you one who claims to fear nothing? What about God? Do you fear Him? Should you fear Him? The answer may surprise you. Stay with me and I'll give you the answer straight from the pages of the Bible!
