Welcome to Episode 353 of The Kibbe & Friends Show — and yes, this is the second show of 2026, which means we're officially back to doing what we do best: talking cars, talking nonsense, and occasionally learning something by accident. We kick things off with Quitters Day (the second Friday in January when New Year's resolutions go to die), debate the nation's fittest and fattiest states, and then I take you inside my newest obsession: building a full-blown racing sim rig at home with real force-feedback hardware, a real race seat, and even a vibration unit so you can feel rumble strips in your bones. It's part race car, part erector set, and entirely ridiculous. Then it's time for our Dukes of Hazzard review, now available on YouTube as part of Phase 4 of the show. This week we're breaking down Season 1, Episode 2, “Daisy's Song,” one of the original Georgia-filmed episodes. Daisy discovers her song has been recorded — but she never got paid — which sends Bo and Luke undercover to shut down a full-blown record piracy operation run by Boss Hogg himself. This episode delivers major Dukes lore, including why the General Lee's doors are welded shut, plus some of the earliest and best screen time for both the General and Daisy's Roadrunner. Final score from all of us: a unanimous 10 out of 10. You've heard of apples, pears, bananas… but have you ever been personally victimized by a body type named after fruit? In this episode, Dawn takes you down her hilariously exhausting journey through every fashion framework on the internet — fruit shapes, color seasons, Kibbe types, essences, and more. With personal stories, questionable outfits, and a few spirals triggered by Pinterest, Dawn reveals the moment she realized she doesn't need strangers to tell her who she is — especially not when it comes to her closet. Naturally, her inner nag Carol has opinions about all of it.If you've ever stood in front of your closet wondering why your favorite shirt suddenly looks like betrayal — this one's for you.
With 2026 officially underway, Episode 352 sets the tone for a bigger, broader year ahead for the Kibbe & Friends Show. Rob kicks things off with stories from a frozen Yellowstone adventure that included snow coaches, snowmobiles, and the kind of mechanical failure that feels right at home on this show. The guys also dig into a questionable General Lee listed on eBay, breaking down what's wrong, what doesn't add up, and why details matter when it comes to Dukes history. From there, the crew goes all the way back to the beginning with a review of The Dukes of Hazzard pilot episode, “One Armed Bandits.” This first outing is far edgier than most fans remember—more Smokey and the Bandit than wholesome family TV—with bar fights, crooked politics, and Daisy Duke causing trouble from the start. Rough around the edges but packed with nostalgia, this episode lays the foundation for everything that followed, including the iconic jump over Sheriff Roscoe's car that became part of the show's opening credits for years to come. On the eve of 2026, Matt Kibbe takes a look back at the first year of Donald Trump's second term as president of the United States. Trump was swept into office by an extraordinary coalition of tech enthusiasts, disaffected Democrats, and even libertarians, all of whom expected big things in return for their support. Trump promised to drain the swamp, end foreign wars, cut spending, and free Ross Ulbricht. These selected segments from this year's "Kibbe on Liberty" guests trace Trump's progress on all these issues, from the heady days of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency to the bitter parting of ways between Trump and conservative lawmakers like Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene, as well as how these issues will affect Republicans in the looming 2026 midterm elections.
The Kibbe & Friends Show brings back a classic this week with a rebroadcast of one of our all-time favorite Dukes of Hazzard episodes: Season 3, Episode 13 – “Duke vs. Duke.” Released in 1981 during peak-series glory, this one throws Bo and Luke into the Hazzard County Derby—against each other. When Cooter wipes out and can't drive, Luke steps behind the wheel of Cooter's big-block Chevelle while Bo straps into the General Lee. Pride kicks in, egos flare, and suddenly the cousins aren't just racing cars… they're racing each other. From nitrous-bottle shenanigans courtesy of Roscoe, to Ma Parker's muscle, to some of the best stunt driving the series ever filmed, this is everything we love about the Dukes wrapped into one episode. The Chevelle vs. Charger showdown, jumps, pipe-ramps, engine notes, broken parts, and that unforgettable backwards-finish stunt make it a perfect 10 episode in our book. Settle in and enjoy the ride—this is Dukes gold. The post KAF Show #351: Special Edition Christmas Break Show! // Dukes Review S3E13 “Duke vs Duke” first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
Episode 350 is a Christmas-season milestone for The Kibbe & Friends Show, and the guys deliver exactly what the week before Christmas calls for: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with all the extra flavor only K&F can add. Rob, Corndog, and Bernie celebrate the “small block Chevy” episode number, clink moose mugs, share the good news that Holley is back for 2026, and recap a successful Toys for Tots push—setting the table for a holiday episode that feels equal parts tradition, gratitude, and pure fun. From there, the crew dives into why Christmas Vacation still works no matter how many times you've seen it. They talk about aging from Rusty into Clark Griswold, revisit the scenes that still make them laugh every single time, and swap favorite moments that prove it's not about the plot—it's about delivery, timing, and how real the chaos feels. Along the way, they sprinkle in car-guy details, Vacation lore, and a killer behind-the-scenes nugget about a scripted ending that never made the final cut. If this movie is part of your yearly ritual, this episode will make you want to queue it up again as soon as the show ends. 'Tis the season, and it's time once again for the Christmas episode of The Muscle Car Place—a tradition now 17 years strong. We're thrilled to welcome our most exclusive guest of the year, known by many names around the world, but to us he'll always be Santa Claus. 2025 was a whirlwind year filled with unforgettable moments alongside the Holley MoParty and the Kibbe & Friends gang, from epic parking lot steak dinners to incredible interviews with creators and automotive legends, capped off by the best SEMA experience I've had since debuting my Chevelle. We came home with a mountain of great content, lasting memories, and gratitude for the amazing community that continues to surround this show. As always, this episode also pauses to remember the real reason for the season—the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If the noise of Christmas has made it easy to miss that truth, Linus Van Pelt said it best long ago by reading Luke 2:8–14, which we share again in this episode. If that message stirs something in your heart—whether it's brand new or something you've drifted away from—know that you can always come home, and Christmas is a perfect time to do it. If you'd like to learn more about accepting Christ's gift to you, I or anyone on our staff would be honored to talk with you. In Episode 349 of The Kibbe & Friends Show, the crew battles a few Christmas-season technical gremlins before diving straight into holiday tradition: revisiting The Great Santa Claus Chase, the one and only official Christmas episode of The Dukes of Hazzard. Rob, Corndog, and Bernie bring their signature blend of nostalgia, humor, and heart as they walk through why this episode still delivers all these years later—car chases, small-town charm, and classic Hazzard County holiday chaos included. Along the way, they also recap this year's Toys for Tots campaign, revealing how a well-timed triple-match day turned listener generosity into more than $6,700 of impact. The guys then shift gears into full automotive pop-culture mode with an enthusiastic breakdown of the brand-new Travis Pastrana Gymkhana film, shot entirely in Australia and packed with jaw-dropping stunts. From Pastrana's all-wheel-drive Subaru Brat “Bratteroo 9500 Turbo” to the level of cinematography and stunt precision that would make Ken Block proud, the team can't stop raving about it. Add a weather report, some trademark KF tangents, and holiday movie teasing for next week, and Episode 349 becomes the perfect mix of Christmas spirit, horsepower, and pure KF fun. Astros executive VP Giles Kibbe joins the show to discuss exciting news for Space City Home Network.
In this week's episode of The Kibbe & Friends Show, the crew kicks off the Christmas season with one of the most beloved holiday films of the modern era: Elf. Rob, Corndog, and Bernie dive deep into what makes this 2003 classic so timeless—from Jon Favreau's intentional “Rankin/Bass meets live-action” style, to the practical effects and forced-perspective tricks that give the movie its handmade, storybook charm. They break down everything from Buddy's fish-out-of-water innocence in New York, to Zooey Deschanel's vintage-inspired performance, to the behind-the-scenes choices that turned a goofy comedy script into a heartfelt family movie that has joined the ranks of A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation as a true annual staple. But being K&F, the review doesn't stop at plot and characters—the guys treat Elf like a full-blown car movie. They dig into the real New York City Crown Vic taxis Buddy dodges throughout the film, talk P-codes and wheelbases, and then go full “Corndog Spec Ops” on the five different sleighs built for production—including which were stunt shells, which survived, and why the hero sleigh might secretly be Mopar-powered. If you love Christmas movies, deep-cut trivia, and automotive rabbit holes disguised as holiday cheer, this is a must-listen episode. Few movies capture the chaos, heart, and humor of the holidays quite like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Steve Martin's tightly wound Neal Page and John Candy's endlessly lovable Del Griffith deliver one of the greatest odd-couple road trips ever put on film — a journey packed with missed flights, broken-down cars, and moments that somehow make you laugh uncontrollably and tear up at the same time. It's loud, ridiculous, heartfelt, endlessly quotable, and somehow only gets better with age. This movie isn't just a Thanksgiving watch; it's a Thanksgiving tradition that reminds us that sometimes the people who drive us the most crazy are the ones we're most grateful for. From all of us here at Kibbe & Friends, we want to wish you and your family a warm, happy, and safe Thanksgiving. Whether you're traveling across the country or just heading down the street, we hope your week is filled with good food, good laughs, and the kind of memories that only come from time spent with the people who matter most. Drive safe, hug your people, and don't forget to enjoy the ride. SEMA 2025 continues to deliver, and this third installment of The Muscle Car Place show is packed with killer interviews and industry insight. From Heidts Suspension's bolt-in Mopar independent suspension systems, to Blueprint Engines' OEM-style “compatible” powerplants, to Diamondback Classic Radials' one-of-a-kind custom sidewall tires, and finally to Terry McGean from Hemmings sharing how the iconic brand is evolving in the modern collector car world — this episode is all about blending classic muscle with modern technology and real-world drivability. As we head into the holiday season, we're leaning into tradition as well. Don't miss the annual Planes, Trains and Automobiles movie review over on the Kibbe & Friends Show, and be sure to tune in this Friday for the final SEMA 2025 episode. Big interviews, big moments, and big laughs are still to come. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! The post TMCP #629: SEMA 2025 Show Spectacular #3 – Scott & Perry with Heights Suspension Mopar Bolt-In IFS/IRS, Jason Bruce with Blueprint “Compatible” Crate Engines, Tab Chapman with Diamondback Classic Radials (Custom Sidewalls), Terry McGean with Hemmings Marketplace Media & Rally Adventures first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
This week on The Kibbe and Friends Show, we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of what we proudly call the greatest car movie ever made — Tommy Boy. With the release of the new 4K edition and the incredible restoration of an original movie car by director Peter Segal (now appearing at MCACN 2025), we knew it was time to bring this one back in a big way. The guys dig into fresh stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and long-lost trivia before re-running their original Tommy Boy review from Episode 126. From Bernie's legendary news and weather segments to Corndog's next-level Mopar knowledge, this is pure K&F gold. If you love road-trip movies, odd-couple comedy, and classic muscle cars, this episode is required listening. At the same time, the K&F family has kicked off their annual Toys for Tots fundraiser through Patreon, and the momentum is already strong. The goal is to get funds in the hands of Toys for Tots in time to make a real impact this Christmas, helping kids and families who need it most. Listener support continues to amaze us, with members upgrading memberships and stepping up in a big way. If the show has ever made you laugh, helped you escape reality for a bit, or made you love cars even more — this is your chance to give back alongside us and help create real Christmas morning magic for families who truly need it. SEMA 2025 delivered one of the most electric weeks the KF crew has had in years—and Rob, Corndog, and Bernie break it all down in Episode 345 of The Kibbe & Friends Show. From jaw-dropping builds like the Ringbrothers' futuristic Aston Martin to the return of real-deal '60s–'90s muscle across Central Hall, the guys dive into everything that made this year's show unforgettable. Rob also shares his wild post-SEMA detour to Atlanta, where Dallas tackled his first-ever road course race in the Moonshine Series—with delays, crashes, segmented cautions, and a hard-earned breakthrough behind the wheel. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future, the episode finishes with a full replay of the very first BTTF review the guys ever recorded—an episode their team says “made the ensemble click.” It's the perfect mix of SEMA chaos, racing stories, and time-travel nostalgia… plus the kickoff of their annual Toys for Tots fundraiser with the U.S. Marine Corps. Dive in and enjoy the ride! The crew heads to Las Vegas for SEMA 2025, bringing with them plenty of laughs, chaos, and one classic Dukes of Hazzard re-review: Season 1, Episode 12, “Route 711.” With Rob and Bernie on the ground (and Corndog holding down the home front), the team dives into the gambling-themed episode that mirrors their Vegas backdrop—complete with Bo and Luke unknowingly hauling a rolling casino, Uncle Jesse turning card-shark, and Cooter pulling strings behind the scenes. The guys also reveal some big updates for Kibbe and Friends: live Patreon broadcasts moving to a new platform, new YouTube plans for 2026, and the behind-the-scenes grind of capturing interviews across SEMA's sprawling show floor. From there, it's full-throttle storytelling—Dallas Kibbe's run at the Legends Asphalt Nationals, a turbocharged Holley feature, and a round of movie-car trivia that somehow loops Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Cars' Lightning McQueen into the mix. Add in Bernie's trademark “news you didn't ask for” (rogue monkeys and all), and you've got another classic K&F blend of cars, culture, and comedy. It's Vegas lights, Georgia dirt, and General Lee nostalgia rolled into one big laugh-filled episode. The post K&F Show #344: Dallas Races and the KF Show Hits Vegas for SEMA 2025! In this special two-part episode of “Kibbe on Liberty,” Matt Kibbe sits down for a marathon conversation with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to discuss President Trump's plans to import Argentinian beef, both as a way to lower prices for American consumers and to help out Argentinian President Javier Milei. This is a little puzzling given Trump's historic hostility toward foreign trade and his campaign promise to put America first. As someone who personally raises cattle, Massie is uniquely positioned in Congress to present the perspective of the American farmer. There is certainly no shortage of beef in our own country, but lowering prices requires relaxing a suite of crony regulations designed to protect Big Agriculture from the competition of local and independent farmers.
The Kibbe and Friends Show returns with Episode 343 — and this one's full of laughs, nostalgia, and big ideas. Rob, Corndog, and birthday boy Bernie celebrate his 65th with a mix of humor and heartfelt chaos while rediscovering Speed Zone — the almost-forgotten “Cannonball Run III” starring John Candy. Between movie trivia and behind-the-scenes banter, the crew keeps the laughs rolling as only they can. Meanwhile, Rob gears up for Dallas Kibbe's first Las Vegas race weekend, with the No. 13 car back on track at The Bullring before heading into the Asphalt Nationals. It's a huge test for the season, and listeners get an inside look at prep, pressure, and the thrill of competition. And then comes a bold idea — could Kibbe and Friends actually host a General Lee giveaway? Not confirmed, but the possibility is on the table. Would you want in? Tune in to find out — available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube! While Rob stayed back to support Dallas's racing season, the Kibbe and Friends crew stormed Holley Moparty 2025 to capture the best stories on the grounds. From drag racing icon Paul Rossi sharing his trailblazing Mopar legacy, to Dave Swearinger's track-ready “ZomBEE” Super Bee build, to new tech insights from Holley's Steve Sparkman and Sublime's Blake Anderman — this episode is packed with passion, horsepower, and the future of Mopar performance. MoParty 2025 delivered peak Mopar mayhem, and the Kibbe & Friends crew—minus Rob—brought the sights, sounds, and parking-lot “afterglow” straight to your speakers. Episode 340 opens with CornDog and Bernie's unsupervised recap—late-night Hampton Inn vibes, fan-club grill action, and the now-legendary “Stand-In Kibbe” Iowa fact machine—setting a heat-soaked, laugh-heavy tone. Promoter Jimi Day calls MoParty “America's high-performance Mopar event,” and this year backed it up: autocross, speed-stop, drags, burnouts, monster-truck crush, parade laps, the mullet showdown, and the new circle-track headliner, Vandemonium. Crowds packed in, the sun didn't quit, and the show never slowed. On the field, highlights included ~35 Hemi cars in one lineup, a crisp white '70 Road Runner pilot car, plenty of wagons, and lovable oddballs (mid-'70s Chargers, Cordobas, Magnums). Best of Show: a clean, purpose-built white Duster. Vandemonium stole the night—YouTube's Dylan McCool took the win in a 2016 A-Team-styled Caravan (proper cage, sticky tires, no ill-timed nitrous), and we grabbed him for a shade-tree chat on his “omelet C10,” shortened '72 Challenger/buggy mash-up, and his dad's hand-lettered Petty-blue '70 Satellite. Fabrication fans will also dig Grant Skidmore's lowered, Whipple-blown '97 Jeep Cherokee XJ (AX15, leaf-under, 14.4 in the quarter), plus TV-vet-turned-creator Tommy Boshers' family-built “Hemibago”—a '71 Winnebago with a Hellcat, side-pipe cutouts, Road Runner horn, and delightfully retro interior. Wrap it with classic K&F energy: Bernie's news (NPD shout-out), a quick celeb game, and Rob's home-front update—skipping MoParty to coach Dallas to a strong P2 at Elko. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts/YouTube Music, jump into Patreon at patreon.com/KFshow, and big thanks to Holley for making MoParty the fall's can't-miss event (Ford Intergalactic is up next). Episode 338 brings cars, football, and chaos together! This week on Wisdom from the Wardrobe, the team is letting us know we are in Preppy Purgatory as the revival of preppy style is apparently upon us, only this time it's less “country club crisp” and more “muted collegiate chic.” With a 66% surge in popularity, it looks like polos, pleats, and penny loafers are making a polished comeback, but without shouting “quiet luxury” or blasting “loud luxury.” Stacy's already pledging allegiance to this sartorial sorority. But that's just the warm-up… The main style syllabus dives into Body Archetypes, the style framework that's suddenly trending again. Think Kibbe's 13 archetypes, personality-infused silhouettes, and style essence breakdowns that aim to decode dressing. But is it a guiding light or just another confusing fashion rabbit hole? The team debates whether this system actually empowers personal style or just makes getting dressed feel like passing a pop quiz. Press play for witty banter, trend talk, and some seriously stylish food for thought.
Some of the biggest names in the liberty movement recently gathered in Texas to celebrate the 90th birthday of Ron Paul, the former congressman and presidential candidate who has inspired so many to become interested in libertarianism. In this special episode of "Kibbe on Liberty," Matt Kibbe sits down with Tom Woods, TEXITcoin founder Bobby Gray, former Rep. Justin Amash (R/I/L-Mich.), and Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) to share their memories of Dr. Paul and the impact he has made on their lives. More than any other single individual, Ron Paul is responsible for creating a movement unlike any America has seen before. Even today, more than a decade after his last presidential run, when you ask someone why he cares about liberty, the answer is likely to be Ron Paul.
We travel to the Mississippi Delta and the world of Lebanese immigrants, where barbecue and the blues meet kibbe, a kind of traditional Lebanese raw meatloaf. Lebanese immigrants began arriving in the Delta in the late 1800s, soon after the Civil War. Many worked as peddlers, then grocers and restaurateurs.Kibbe — a word and a recipe with so many variations. Ground lamb or beef mixed with bulgur wheat, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Many love it raw. However it's made, it's part of the glue that holds the Lebanese family culture together in the Mississippi Delta and beyond. We visit Pat Davis, owner of Abe's BAR-B-Q at the intersection of Highway 61 and 49 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the famed crossroads where, legend has it, blues icon Robert Johnson made a deal with the devil to play guitar better than anybody. Since 1924 Abe's has been known for it's barbecue, but if you know to ask, they've got grape leaves in the back.Chafik Chamoun, who owns Chamoun's Rest Haven on Highway 61, features Southern, Lebanese and Italian food — but he's best known for his Kibbe. Chafik arrived in Clarksdale from Lebanon in 1954, and first worked as a peddler selling ladies slips and nylon stockings.Sammy Ray, Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University, Galveston, talks about growing up in a barbecue shack that his mother ran on the edge of what was then called “Black Town.” His father peddled dry goods to the Black sharecroppers.During the civil rights movement in the 1960s, Abe's BAR-B-Q and Chamoun's Rest Haven were some of the only restaurants in the area that would serve Black people. “We were tested in 1965,” Pat Davis remembers. “A bunch of Black kids went to all the restaurants on the highway and every one refused them except Chamoun's and my place. And everybody else got lawsuits against them.”The list of famous Lebanese Americans is long and impressive. Ralph Nader, Paul Anka, Dick Dale, Casey Kasem, Khalil Gibran and Vince Vaughn, to name a few. But the one most people talked about on our trip was Danny Thomas. Pat Davis took us out in the parking lot to listen to a CD that he just happened to have in his car of Danny Thomas singing in Arabic.“We called ourselves Syrians when we first came here,” Davis says. “And until Danny came and said he was Lebanese then we all began to realize we really are Lebanese and Danny Thomas can say it. So we're Lebanese now.”Produced by The Kitchen Sisters (Davia Nelson & Nikki Silva), mixed by Jim McKee, for the James Beard Award winning Hidden Kitchens series on NPR.The Kitchen Sisters Present is produced by The Kitchen Sisters with Nathan Dalton and Brandi Howell. We also learn that the P in Rosco P Coltraine stands for Pervis. This episode starts with an upside down smashed GL….and just gets better. Rosco p Coltrane gets the CEO Treatment by a well built mail order bride, and it's the oldest trick in the book: young woman with a husband and crony convince a Sheriff to get him out of the way so Boss Hogg can be conveniently robbed while everyone is attending a wedding. In the midst we see the General get totalled, untotalled, retotalled, untotaled, and then retotaled again (only to then be replaced by a horse). The sloppiness of automotive continuity in this episode is awful, and that's what makes it so right - plus the stunts are off the chart. Oh, and the saying The Lord Helps Those That Help Themselves…..that's not actually in the Bible. Might be in the US Constitution though. Or possibly National Treasure. It is, it isn't, and it isn't in that order. Cleetus Hogg is introduced to us all in this Season 1 Dukes episode to play the role of Boss Hogg's second cousin twice removed flunky. He does and he is. But he somehow ends up helping Boss Hogg in a bank heist…..that he was in on before it was conceived. And then he fails at it. And then Bo and Luke save the day…..by doing a literal body snatching swap, only I'm not sure that they meant to. Just like Cleetus said in the S3 Episode The Great Santa Claus Chase, "Can someone come get me; I'm lost!" But, it is a Season 1 Dukes Episode, shot in California with 14” wheels on Chargers, and Al Wyatt stunt driving the General in Full Send mode for the entire. C'est magnifique! I don't know a thing about F1, but if this movie does for F1 what Days of Thunder did for NASCAR, an entire generation of kids are about to dream about being the next Sonny Hayes. And just like Days of Thunder was Top Gun on Wheels, F1 is Top Gun Maverick on…more expensive wheels! Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes - an aging multi series vagabond driver who lives for the thrill of driving and the hope that on the track he can feel God's pleasure upon him. (He didn't say it that way in the movie but that was the gist of it.) As a kid he was coming into Formula 1 when he had a devastating accident. It cost him his future to be the next Senna. He went to drinking spiral, bad marriages, then driving taxis, and then found his way into any racing series that would have him and let him try to tame it. And they all did. Sports cars, NASCAR, Off Road, and now F1. His job in this movie, to get a young hot shot up to speed and save the rag tag racing team they're all there with to save their jobs. It's predictable, it's beautiful, it's fun, and it's fast. In a nutshell: awesome. While Matt Kibbe and the Free the People team were trying to enjoy the company of their fellow libertarians at this year's Porcupine Freedom Festival, the Trump administration insisted on harshing the vibe by dropping bombs on Iran's nuclear facilities. Scott Horton, director of the Libertarian Institute, sat down for this episode of “Kibbe on Liberty” to debunk some of the neoconservative claims that are always trotted out to justify American intervention in the Middle East. The same propaganda strategy that was deployed to start the Iraq War is being used again, almost verbatim, to advocate for regime change in Iran. Despite what you may have heard, war is not in America's best interests and needlessly puts our troops in harm's way.

There's no doubt about the fact that in the course of the Dukes of Hazzard, this is the race that put him on the map. Thomas Steven Wopat presents the birth of the General Lee and - whether he meant to or not - creates the canon of the entire series by answering what every little boy needed to know most. Why are the doors welded shut? It's here. What's under the hood of the General? It's here. Why is the General orange, with a rebel flag on the roof, a dixie horn under the hood, and why is it named General Lee? It's here. More importantly, how does an old dead wreck from a junkyard become able to fly leaps and bounds, win every race, catch every bad guy, win every girl for the Duke Boys, respond to it's name on command, be so much of a family member it gets it's own birthday cake, and become the most magical car in the history of the known universe and the most famous car in the world? To cut to the chase, if you haven't seen the new Dale Earnhardt docuseries on Amazon Prime yet….you need to. It's an in redible production detailing the true life and drive of Dale Earnhardt, success, flaws, and all. It's told through the eyes of Darrell Waltrip, Dale's racing competitors, and especially his children; Kerry, Dale Jr, and Kelly (his 4th child Taylor is not onscreen). It's a remarkable series, and while you'll leave with respect and awe for the man on the track….you'll have a true lump in your throat about how he lived in life, and what he lived it for. This is not a paid endorsement or review at all, nor is this an affiliate link. This is just our honest take on what is (in our opinion) an outstanding series and worth your money and time! Enjoy. We originally reviewed the Burt Reynolds Classic “Stroker Ace” in Episodes 117 and 118 as well as the month end Patreon show in July of 2019. Enjoy! Movie Summary: This is it! After waiting years to prepare we finally did a full review of the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie. This was a $50Million dollar big screen production of our favorite TV show, featuring our favorite car doing the best big screen performance any car has ever performed, ever (we're looking your way, Bullitt). Other than the car…..this isn't the TV series Dukes that you know. Boss Hogg (played by Burt Reynolds) is skinny. Rosco is mean, not goofy. Bo is scared of women. Luke can't drive. Uncle Jesse is crass. But….if you can get past all of that and leave it for what it is, we loved it. Our man Corndog was onsite for the entire filming of the movie in Louisiana and had the full skinny on every car there that played the General Lee (all 27 of them). ======================================== National Parts Depot Presents: Bernie on the News! https://www.npdlink.com. Ryan Gosling plays the Fall Guy in the big screen movie. Any of our fears about this ruining a beloved TV tale about stunts and jump trucks were wrong! The movie is great and while it might be a one and done it could certainly feature sequels too! Gosling plays the Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man that ends up having to solve a mystery, while jumping trucks and doing stunts. Sound familiar? Colt ends up being nearly killed during the opening movie-within-a-movie stunt (that Gosling really did) due to sabotage by the jealous star that he's doubling. It breaks his confidence and takes him away from the career (and woman) that he loves. But, when Jody the camera girl becomes Jody the director of the biggest baddest stunt movie ever to be made….he comes out of retirement to get it done. And save the relationship. And solve the mystery of the leading man that was dead…..or was he? In it are thrown in intentional meta references, sound effects and songs that will make your hears sing, aliens that make you laugh, all leading to the good guy winning in the end with the help of the girl….and a brown and gold GMC truck. Luke fights two guys to the death basically, and Bo is nearly smeared by a train at the same time. But just like last time we reviewed this if it weren't for the miniature stunt - which thankfully were minimal - this episode would be an 11 out of 10. The General gets turned into a remote controlled car, set to detail a train full of money with a load of dynamite in the trunk. Boss Hogg was behind the scheme of course, but the Dukes came back and nearly fought to the death to protect the most important their lives: their honor? No. Their fortune? No? Their reputation? NO! It was their car! We have all learned this life lesson, and like them we all know that cars have a soul, need to be protected, and need to be fought for. I give this episode - 10 Corndogs, of which are Season 7 Corndogs, which do not have an equivalent exchange rate to say Season 2 or something. So 10 dogs here is basically the equivalent of 6.5 in years past. Show Rating: 10 (Season 7) Corndogs Show Rating: 8 Corndogs! Neither would be successful without the other! They go into business - to electrify Dodge muscle cars - that provide the sounds to fool the customer into thinking they're listening to a V8 while they're just hearing an electric motor spin. Did we mention this movie came out in 2011? In between the car drama, Kevin James wife is cheating on him (and he's doing a few shameful things too). Vince Vaughn is stuck in the dilemma of trying to protect his best friend while dealing with the doubt of others from his past as a gambling addict. The end result is that we get an entirely movie of hilarity and HEMI powered classic Dodges - just for fun! This movie has "real" other actors too! Winona Rider, Jennifer Connately, Channing Tatum, and Queen Latifah round out the ensemble. Even more impressive, the director was a big name too; Ron Howard! I'm telling you, in 2011 someone at Dodge saw this movie and just copied the whole thing. 14 years later, it's a realty. The new 2025 Charger is electric and has a speaker system of V8 sounds. Even better, we get a bro movie between Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. The only thing that would make it better is if it were Paul Blart Mall Cop 3! As part of their new Deputy duties that are required to escort Public Enemy #1 from Springfield to Hazzard. This leads to them (kind of?) sexually harassing Dolly Parton's sister. Following that, Dolly's sister goes rogue and tries to kill Public Enemy #1. But then, it all works out and only the bad guy goes to prison, Dolly goes back to Springfield, and Waylon gets back to inappropriate comments about women (which is apparently OK in Season 1). That's right. This is the Star Trek to Dukes of Hazzard crossover that will have Ryan Brutt and I on the same side of the fight….until this episode is over, of course. Plot: Boss Hogg's umpteenth previously unnamed nephew shows up in Hazzard to make some ill gotten gains…only to accidentally fall in love with Daisy Duke. That's all well and good except Boss Hogg, Uncle Jessie, and all of the evil business partners are against it…and to make things worse, the evil guys want Daisy killed before she learns too much! But then the Hogg wants to marry the Duke and the evil partners think it's so sweet. This leads to every body panel on Rosco's patrol car being surgically removed in a hilarious fashion, a massive car chase, a few recycled car jumps, and a remarkable amount of improv by Tom and John. Oh, and they don't get married and live happily ever after, either. And by next weeks show this will all be long forgotten! Show Rating: 1701 Corndogs! While he's not a car star to us all his movie The French Connection is one the most iconic of it's day. For many of us, he's the best part about dozens of movies that we have loved for over 50 years! From The French Connection to Hoosiers, The Replacements, Crimson Tide, even The Royal Tenenbaums, Gene's acting chops marked him as one of the best actors to ever grace the big screen. He'll be missed. As we learned doing research, Gene actually WAS a car guy and had done a considerable amount of racing. He followed in the footsteps of Paul Newman and fell in love with amateur/celebrity racing initially, trained at the Bob Bondurant school, and eventually became involved with Dan Gurney for celebrity and professional races with TOYOTA. We discussed Gene's awesome career in the episode and included a re-broadcast from The Kibbe and Finnegan Show where we had reviewed "The Replacements". This movie is the story we all want; a chance to live up to the potential of something that we loved from our youth and maybe came close to achieving, but for whatever reason failed at, or it fizzled out, or it just ended for reasons we couldn't control. Keanu is honestly pretty good as a south-paw quarterback and it's a great movie full of inspirational one-liners you'll love to quote. Here's one for you: “Pain heals, Chicks Dig Scars, and Glory Lasts Forever.” K&F Show Rating: 8 Corndogs!
