Have you ever needed a fresh start, a new beginning that provided some hope, just the potential for joy or satisfaction? Maybe it was a job, a relationship, new form of self-discipline that might provide that fulfillment or peace you long for. This world constantly offers false hope for peace, but none of them will ever bear the weight, the price of real peace. What happens when those things you’ve pinned your hope for peace on unravel or collapses? It’s the opposite of peace. Scripture calls it shame. That feeling of not measuring up, feeling unworthy or defective. These false hopes always fail, leaving their victims in shame, still searching, & even more restless than we were before. Shame is one of the worst experiences of human nature. I think all of us desire its opposite… Peace. But what is peace really? How do you know if you have attained it? If you have, how can you keep it or maintain it?
What should motivate our deeds of love? In this episode of Light + Truth, John Piper turns to Hebrews 12:2 to demonstrate how joy in God fuels sacrificial love.

What is a very core aspect of every Whitestone episode? Do you suspect it's all about leadership? The truth is, every one of the Whitestone episodes is designed and intended for the best of equipping, exhortation, and excellence in stewardship, not leadership! And the Bible is an extended yet compactly-told story about God's perfect stewardship of His relationship with humanity. The fact is, a Christian life well-lived is all about joyful stewardship single-mindedness. Join Kevin as we unpeel that banana as we maximize our lives for God! // Download this episode's Application & Action questions and PDF transcript at whitestone.org.

Chapter 15 of Heroes in the Bible: David with Dr. Tony Evans is inspired by 1 Samuel 27-29. A Friend of the Enemy - Desperate, David finds himself befriending the very people God has called him to destroy. Is this where our hero truly falls from grace? Today's opening prayer is inspired by Hebrews 12:2, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Today we celebrate Jesus, He Shall Be! It is Joy Sunday so first of all, "He shall be our Joy!" Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
Pastor Marc Sharp continues with part 7 of the series looking at 15 Psalms (Psalms 120-134) designated as “Songs of Ascents”. These Psalms are God’s guidebook for right worship in the church. Last week we learned that the people of God cannot be moved, that God always faithfully defends his people. Today, we see this immovability is not enough. As an outgrowth of this steadfastness, we’re promised a payoff of joy and fruitfulness. Though we have many trials, and must enter the kingdom “through many tribulations”, by the work of the Holy Spirit our lives should be joyfully productive and filled with rejoicing! Where God's grace meets your need.
Heb. 12:2 resonates once more in my soul - "Look to Jesus, He is the author and finisher of our faith!" He could see the "joy" that would come because of His sacrifice, yet He cried out for the Father to relieve Him of the moment. As the angel drew near, Jesus was strengthened! And "joy" overtook Him and we are blessed as we trust in Him!

Jesus' faith enduring the Cross abolished death, and brought life and immortality to us. May we have the Testimony of Faith in these trying times as we remember the men and women who walked before us.
Just as God rested on the 7th day of creation because He was finished; so our Lord Jesus - having finished the works of redemption - was and is now seated at the right hand of His majesty. Therefore, we can fully trust in Christ's completed victory and receive the promise of rest we all need. Don't trade God's promise of inheritance to you for a temporary, short-term pleasure. Follow Jesus' example of delaying gratification for a long-term gain and eternal life.

Isaiah 53 describes what Jesus did for us on the Cross of Calvary. Verse1 says the Arm (power) of the Lord is revealed to those who believe the Report of Isaiah 53. This Report declares that the Messiah took our SICKNESSES as well as our SINS (v4), so that we might be forgiven and made whole.

When you get to a point of desperation, do you become fixated on your circumstances, instead of fixing your eyes on the eternal? Pastor Matt delivers a timely message refocusing our gaze on the One who can bring us through the trials we face. Fixing our eyes on Jesus is not only for our personal salvation, but so that we can bring salvation to others. Every choice, action, even attitude we demonstrate will transfer to the next generation. Where are your eyes focused?
