I LOVE YOU DADDY!
Our latest movie catch-up ended up being a milestone episode for two reasons. One, it's probably the longest and most diverse list of films we've ever discussed on an episode. Two, we probably got the angriest we have ever been discussing a movie on the show, which was a film sent to us by one of our kind Patrons! Did you know our supporters on Patreon have access to a PO Box, where they can send us movies to check out as well as a bunch of other bonus features? Urban Lifestyle Report Presenting BlackNificence & Black Excellence
Ep.14 In His Own Voice-My Father's Life. I'm Carolyn Morris-Walker the host of the Urban Lifestyle Report podcast, my legacy project a platform to exemplify BlackNificence and Black Excellence in my community. This episode is rather significant because on Friday May 7th , 2021 my dearly beloved Father, Sylvester Wilesley Morris suddenly but peacefully and beautifully passed away in his home. He transitioned at the age of 91 years old, just 3 weeks before his 92nd Earthstrong day May 28th. Last year at the height of the Covid pandemic in April 2020, my Father had an accident at home, he had fallen down, fractured his neck and was rushed to hospital. To be honest with you I really thought he was not going to survive the injury he had sustained but miraculously he only spent 1 night in the hospital and was released the following day. I was there to pick him up to take him home and I remember saying to him " bwoooy you tough like iron, TUFF" and we laughed. He was in a neck brace for 12 weeks and during this time I decided to sit with him so he could share with me the story of his life. I had a great sense of urgency to have conversation with my Dad to learn more about him, about his life. These conversations took place on May 10th, May 23rd and June 13th, 2020. As we sat and spoke I was intrigued to know about his struggles, challenges, successes, and triumphs. I learned he had an adventurous heart and spirit that compelled him to leave his homeland of Jamaica in 1948 and this would change his life and his future generations to come forever. This episode, In His Own Voice-My Father's Life is my tribute to him and the legacy I will leave for my future generations to come. My Father is the first man that I ever loved. When I came into this world, took my first breath and opened my eyes he was there. I've spent 21,900 days with him-60 years and now I must navigate my life without his physical presence but I know his spirit lives within me and I know he is always with me. I hope you will feel his vibrant, kind and charismatic personality that made family, friends and even strangers gravitate to his charming magnetism. I Love You Daddy! Carolyn, your always loving daughter.
Following on the heels of last episode’s review of Woody Allen’s A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK through the prism of our current MeToo culture, VHS Rewind heads into the center of an even more dangerous storm as our new episode focuses its attention on auteur writer-director-star Louis (serial-masturbator-in-front-of-trapped-women) CK’s, I LOVE YOU DADDY. Where the charges against Woody Allen were tried in a court of law and Woody was cleared, and may be a victim of the Me Too vigilantes, auteur Louis CK has confessed to his serial-masturbation-in-front-of-trapped-women actions – how can we put that aside when watching this directorial effort? Louis CK seems to be aping the Woody Allen look and style (shooting in black-and-white) but is auteur Louis another Woody (writing/directing-wise)? Is auteur Louis CK’s film full of neurotic characters or deeply disturbed characters, starting with Louis CK’s main character (who resembles, well, Louis CK) and including John Malkovich’s Woody-esque film director who may have molested a child? Is Chloe Grace Moretz hot in a string bikini? Join us as we whip this episode out and whack off in your ears with answers to these and other conversation topics.
in this week's episode Nick is joined by friends and LA comics Monika Scott and Rivers Langley. We discuss a little gold covered turd that has been dusted off and shown to us. That gold covered turd? Louis C.K.'s recent "film" I Love You Daddy. if you are like a lot of people and are curious about what our takeaway from this movie is then this is the episode for you baby!

After the Louis CK controversy broke his distributor decided not to release his new film "I Love You Daddy." But we got to see it before they pulled it (pun not intended) and we'll tell you if it's fun or if it's creepy...or both. And since "Justice League" is opening this week we've brought along YouTube sensation Grace Randolph, who knows her way around a superhero movie. Ah, but there's so much more, such as "Roman J. Israel, Esq." the new legal drama starring Denzel Washington, plus the quirky indie comedy "Mr. Roosevelt," and the new season of "The Girlfriend Experience" on Starz and some great new films available on demand and on DVD. It's a pre-Thanksgiving feast!
Kohn and Thompson discuss how recent controversies have impacted the movies "All the Money in the World" and "I Love You Daddy."
