Tonight's special guest is Dr. Wanda McKinley from Dallas, Texas, founder and CEO of 'We Are Survivors Foundation', an International non-profit Organization for abused men, women and children. Wanda was a victim of abuse for 24 consecutive years. Her biological father began to molest her as early as six. Then at the age of thirteen her biological father and stepfather raped her .. until the age of eighteen. With her ex-husband from the age of nineteen, she endured physical, mental, verbal, sexual and financial abuse until she found the strength to leave at the age of thirty-one. Due to the trauma that she experienced; she began to become an example for others. Wanda is a best-selling author, the recipient of an International Humanitarian Award. She's a 2016 Advocate of the Year for Domestic Violence, and a strong Domestic and International speaker. Wanda recently received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Social Advocacy (in 2020) due to her work in the States and Internationally and has a television show called 'We are Survivors'. Dr. McKinley has also launched an apparel line called ROAR and 'We are Survivors Workbook Series'. She is also the owner of McKinley Consulting Firm where she is a Behavioral Modification Strategist. She notes, "Our mission is to provide a stable environment for abused and battered men, women and children in providing temporary shelter, counseling and provide employment training.” Wanda wants to "empower men and women so they can and will survive and thrive in society on their own and to uplift them and provide them a new life, a new prospective of normalcy by enhancing and elevating their lives."

Even at that young age, the experience was so profound for Hannah, that she began fundraising to help out.By the age of 8, she had formed the LadyBug Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at fighting homelessness and poverty. At 22, Hannah’s foundation has raised around 4-million-dollars to support shelters, missions, and food banks across the country.For her work, Hannah has received an International Humanitarian Award and a Governor General’s Award. On this episode of Run It Like a Girl Hannah gives some sound advice to young people wanting to make change, she talks about why young women need to put more trust in their abilities and why not being able to do a front roll isn’t the end of the world.

We are Survivors was formed as a 501©3 non-profit organization for abused men, women and children. Our mission is to provide a stable environment for abused and battered individuals by providing temporary shelter, counseling, and employment training. We want to help them transition from abusive situations to being self-sufficient people in society. Understanding the pain on a personal level will help me relate to the men, women and children God sends to me.but I will also be able to provide professional counseling. I am a best-selling co-author domestic and international, a recipient of an International Humanitarian Award, 2016 Advocate of the Year for Domestic Violence, an ambassador of a project called Black Girls Land in Nigeria, a strong Domestic and International speaker. We are Survivors have a weekly blog talk radio show as well as a live streaming television show called We are Survivors with Wanda McKinley. We also launched an apparel line called Hear me ROAR which focuses on domestic violence. We are international and are preparing for the third International Women's Conference August 25 and 26th here in Dallas. We have women coming from Europe, Africa and Asia to speak and perform as well as uplift. This event will be held in Dallas annually and we are excited about that. It was being held in Europe.
