What stories emerge when superpowers enter the audio format? How can superheroes reflect real-world problems, and what would an NPR-style broadcast sound like if it existed in a world where superhumans were real? Max and John of Superhuman Public Radio join me to explore these questions and discuss Season 2 of SPR, with new episodes releasing weekly!Superhuman Public Radio (aka SPR) is an award-winning audio drama telling the best original superhero stories you've ever heard. These are the stories that happen between the panels: looking at how superpowers change society and our individual lives; what happens when the battles are done and the heroes fly away.Learn more here and @SPRpod on social media.Bios:John Dorsey, son of a failed magician and successful businesswoman, is a natural storyteller. For 10 years, he has worked in film above and below the line. His awards include those for Superhuman Public Radio. Later this year, he will premiere his first directed comedy special with Dee Ahmed. Dorsey lives near Washington, D.C., with his family. See his work here.Maximilian Clark is a writer-director running three different audio shows. In addition to the award-winning SPR, look for his semi-scripted Josie's Lonely Hearts Club with Good Story Guild and his nonfiction We Are Not Journalists, where he and Walter Masterson infiltrate extremist cults for satire. Clark co-created the Starz Digital series “Llama Cop.” His projects have been official selections at Just for Laughs, ITVFest and more. His mother once described his work as “not bad.” We've started the conversation. Now we want to hear from you!Want to continue the discussion with us? Imagine a world with superhumans. You’ve got heroes, you’ve got villains, you’ve got... an NPR style radio station aimed at supers? The creators of the Superhuman Public Radio podcast join me to discuss the gig economy for henchmen, the immigrant rights of extraterrestrials, and how their love for comic books as moral allegory drove this project.SPR is an independent, nonprofit media organization that was founded on a mission to create a more informed Superhuman public. Every day, SPR connects with millions of Superhumans on the air, online, and in person to explore the news, ideas, and what it means to be Superhuman. STACEY MALTIN Stacey wrote, produced, and starred in her first feature film “Landing Up” through her production company Bold Compass Films. It premiered at Dances With Films in Los Angeles and she picked up a Best Actress as well as Best Feature nomination. Her short film "Stronger Together" was recently acquired by Shoreline Entertainment after having it's world premiere at NewFest and her short film "Head" is streaming on REVRY. Her work has further screened at Cinequest Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, Flicker's Rhode Island, ITVfest, and more. The script she penned, “The Other Side” was selected by the screenwriting website THE BLACK LIST as a Top 10 Finalist in the Hasty Pudding Fellowship for a screenwriter focusing on satire and social commentary. That script was further selected to be a part of the Black List Table Reads series and was produced as a podcast starring Darren Criss, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Jerry Adler. She is currently creating a new provocative series called LINKED (Cinequest 19') and is in the midst of filming "Triple Threat" her first feature as a director. She is also in development on the feature film version of HEAD (Outfest Screenwriting Lab finalist). She is the co-founder of production company Besties Make Movies with close collaborator Magarita Zhitnikova and WIWU Productions with her husband and partner Dani Tenenbaum. https://www.staceylmaltin.com/ MARGARITA ZHITNIKOVA I was born in Stalingrad, Russia and I'm fluent in my native language. My family came over to the states as Jewish refugees when I was six. We moved to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, of course, & I've been stomping the streets of NYC ever since. I love to take on roles that break societal norms, help expose new points of view, & make difficult subjects approachable. I started the company Besties Make Movies with my bestie. We've got a pilot along with several short films coming out of post production, two of which I wrote & star in. I'm currently in an ongoing class at The Studio Act under the instruction of Brad Calcaterra - who also plays a role in my film 2 WEEKS! I love the usual bad ass things like archery, walking a lot because I hate the subway, giving my dogs strange haircuts and pretending that I'm Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Currently, I'm filming the lead role of Maggie in the feature film TRIPLE THREAT, judging films for the Revolution Me Film Festival, & doing the festival circuit with my film JONES. http://marzyhart.com/ Have a story? I caught up with straight girl/lesbian, best friend comedy duo Carlie and Doni for episode 8. Based in Los Angeles. They are regulars at The Improv and have a monthly show there called “Your Mom Says Hi!” which won a Global Accolade Award of Excellence and has been featured in festivals ITVFest and Out Web Fest. The girls have Headlined Universities and Comedy Clubs all over the country and their music video “Gangsta Waitress” features cameos by both Lily Tomlin and Richard Lewis. Carlie and Doni were voted best comedians in L.A. by Los Angeles Magazine as well as Hot Comics to watch by Campus Activities Magazine and I was so lucky to catch up with them with therapist Matthew Shima to chat about being fluid as fuck. That’s right, we’re talking about sexual orientation and how each of us has and continues to navigate the spectrum that is our sexuality - together, Carlie, Doni and I represent the spectrum and unveil some of the issues and hang ups that we’ve experienced coming into our own as straight, fluid and gay women.

Ever wonder what exactly it is that men and women are expecting on a first date (hint:  it's not naked time) (don't pretend your mind didn't go there!)??   In October, #single was invited to the bonnie mountains of Vermont as part of its inaugural Podcast Competition of Independent TV Festival (ITVFest). Part of that honor meant recording an episode of our show while at the festival in the ITVFest podcast booth.  So Jeanette invited two sexy and single filmmakers/ content creators, Caris and Jonathan, to join her in talking about what's really got their goat about trying to find a special person online.   And while it was clear from the get-go that everyone has different expectations, together we landed on a concept that it seems we all want- that is, we want to be chosen for who we are, and we want someone to be excited to meet us.  We want that first date to be intentional.     Happy intentional dating, y'all.
