We all know those crazy interior design TV shows where wannabe amateur designers try to cover themselves sometimes in glory but more often than not cover themselves in paint. Love them or hate them they make weirdly compelling viewing for practicing designers and the public alike. But do these reality TV shows bear any resemblance to what real designers do? How do they impact the public’s perception of the interior design profession? What is it really like to be a contestant, and do the winners go on to become renowned designers in their own right? We asked Verity Coleman from Rascal & Roses, Siobhan Murphy from Interior Curve and Peter Grech from The SpaceMaker Interiors the question, ‘Is TV Good For Interior Design?’ in this episode, recorded in front of a live audience at DesignCentral North West. Find out what they have to say in a fascinating and hugely entertaining hour of conversation with Susie Rumbold and Jeff Hayward.
Kelly Cates is joined by our senior football reporter Ian Dennis and Chris Sutton to reflect on Liverpool reaching the Champions League final, after they came from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 3-2 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate. The guys discuss the difference Luis Diaz made in the second half, whilst The Anfield Wrap's Harriet Prior tells us whether Liverpool fans will be disappointed to not win the quadruple now. Elsewhere, Bournemouth have been promoted to the Premier League after a 1-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest secured them second place in the Championship. Jonathan Overend brings us reaction from the Vitality Stadium, including interviews with Scott Parker and Philip Billing. Plus we hear from Bournemouth podcaster Jeff Hayward on what it means to be back in the top flight after a two-year absence. We take a comprehensive dissecting of Saturday lunchtime’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of Luton Town with Sam Davis, Tom Jordan, Jeff Hayward, plus your thoughts after the game too! It was a last minute goal from the Hatters that secured the points at Kenilworth Road and it was a sickener to say the least. In the first half Cherries were outfought and didn’t lay a glove on Luton or look bothered by it. In the Second half, we had our period of control and looked good, but normally, if a team comes back from two down they go on to win it (if there is a deciding goal). Bournemouth however - stopped, and it was the home side that fought to get the decider and we hardly had a kick. This is a hard one to unravel but we'll do our best! Sam Davis and Jeff Hayward spend just under an hour looking at two very different performances over the last few days as AFC Bournemouth gained maximum points from our trips to Bristol City and Stoke City. This includes a certain hat-tip to a reporter of the latter club, whose report on the game - it's fair to say - won't win any literary awards! Don’t let the result fool you, AFC Bournemouth absolutely annihilated Bristol City today in a performance which exuded control and class - as the Robins were beaten 2-0 at Ashton Gate, and with Dom Solanke being clinical at the Bet365 - it was six points from six on the road! There is stats, praise, and wonderment and ponderment - as Boscombe go clear at the top of the Championship - you love to see it! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. In our last league game, Bournemouth overcame a deficit for the first time this season as Solanke and Billing netted inside three minutes to ensure that Boscombe go top of the table at a rain-soaked Dean Court against Sheffield United. Fans were nervously optimistic despite the bore-draw against Peterborough, and in the pub beforehand, 2-1 seemed to be the fashionable scoreline. True to form, Bournemouth delivered - and whilst Solanke's penalty levelled things up, Billings effort effectively killed the game. When Phil Bill scores, Cherries do not lose! In this podcast Sam Davis speaks with Neil Dawson, Jeff Hayward, Mr Tigz and Tom Jordan about the crucial win. Plus, Jeff Hayward chats to Marc Billing, father of AFC Bournemouth BALLER Philip in this candid interview about being a parent of a professional footballer. What's it like being the parent of a player that has overcome tough times to stick it out and then go on to tear it up in one of the most popular leagues in the world? What's it like to see your son getting criticism, is it hard to bite your tongue? And does he feel when the crowd are singing his name and loving every minute of seeing him in action? We talk to him about Philip's rise in football, the social media criticism, the amount of input he has with his moves, and the pride he feels at seeing his son succeed. The match against the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium was always going to pose a unique challenge For The Cherries, not least because the majority of their side were over 6ft - but enough of that tall story, because a Mick McCarthy side is always going to well drilled, work hard, and they’ll also be dogged. So to be able to get three points of the Welsh side would be massive, and whilst most of us were hoping we’d be chinking our glasses in celebratory mood with a "Iechyd Da", many Boscombe fans admitted that they’d actually be fairly content with a point. But Bournemouth showed a side to their game they should be really proud of as we created a host of chances in a clinical and formulaic display, and when you look at the way the home side were stunted, people of a certain tactical mindset might look back at this game as the performance of the season so far. In this podcast, Sam Davis is joined by Tom Jordan and Jeff Hayward to discuss events in South Wales as the Cherries came away with an excellent 1-0 win. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. 2020 was the year that bought our homes and the way we use them into sharp focus. Stuck inside while the pandemic raged, we were all forced to find space at home to work, play and carry out activities that would previously have been done elsewhere. For residential interior designers, all this domestic churn has created real challenges as they try to advise their clients on future home trends and accurately interpret their needs. But was 2020 really the year that changed everything? Or, were these lifestyle changes already taking place? Will these changes be a permanent feature of our future lives and how can interior designers determine what advice to offer their clients? To discuss all of this and more, Susie Rumbold and Jeff Hayward are joined by Suzanne Knight, Partner and Sales Manager, Property at John Lewis & Partners, Sarah O'Sullivan, from the Trend team at John Lewis & Partners, and Verity Coleman, residential interior designer and founder of design practice, Rascal & Roses. This epsiode is recorded at the Peter Jones store in Sloane Square and is supported by John Lewis & Partners. We'd also like to thank Parkside Architectural Tiles for their support. The Interior Design Business is a Wildwood production.
This week, Kris Temple from BBC Radio Solent released a chat with Bournemouth Chairman Jeff Mostyn, the first time he has chatted at length for four years. Mostyn sounded re-energised, he sounded motivated, and he didn't sound fearful about the club's future. Some fans are still asking questions, yet some are content - and in this podcast, we chat over what we learned from the Chairman's chat in the company of Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Tom Jordan, and BBC Radio Solent's Kris Temple. Jeff was spoken as ever, and he sounded focused, plus, he provided an apology of sorts, an explanation on managerial appointments, dismissals, and the search for a new manager… is it Scott Parker? Sources suggest now that he is NOT close to joining the Cherries, but why would he join anyway? Are we giving this another spin? The boys chat over the potential appointment and ponder what he could bring to the club. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. It was very much a nerve jangling time at Dean Court on Monday, but the win against Brentford showed a lot of desire, a lot of discipline, and even at times a little bit of swagger - so with the hoodoo against Brentford broken, will it stay broken? Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Tom, Jordan and Neil Dawson discuss events at Dean Court. We of course are all hoping that it is not a false dawn, as there is still huge cause for concern. The injuries we've got, the angry reaction we might get from the Brentford players, the thousands of Bees fans who'll be packed into their new ground… it's far from over. But let's play the facts bare - we know our squad has got quality written all over it. We know that when the squad wants to perform - it can. We know that when everyone is playing to the best of their ability - Bournemouth get results. We also know that when there are no individual errors and there is a diligence on the ball - we are so much better. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. AFC Bournemouth limped over the finish line against Stoke City in a display which has single-handedly managed to erode any optimism ahead of a Play-Off Semi-Final against an in-form Brentford. On this show, Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Mr Tigz and Neil Dawson dissect the game with vigour and determination - well, someone had to put in a shift this weekend. Last week after Wycombe, Woodgate was almost flippant in his post-match interview. This week, he says: "we'll give it our best shot" - a far cry from the buoyant figure that stood before us during our seven game unbeaten spell. Are the Derren Brown-esque mind games starting already? In this pod we analyse the Stoke game, find out what went wrong and what needs switching, plus we question the heart and desire that seems to dissipate throughout the side when certain key players are not at the races. And what of Brentford? What will they be thinking after being confident of facing Barnsley or Swansea in the semis? Bournemouth are underdogs, but will that work in our favour, and do they think that? And how heavy will their notorious "bottling" be playing on their minds? Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. As Catherine Tate once said: "Am I Bovvered?", and reading between the lines, that was the message that was gleaned from most of the post-match Cherry soundbytes - so despite our 1-0 loss at Wycombe on Saturday, the feeling of concern from the fans perhaps isn't quite empathised by the staff of AFC Bournemouth! It was a turgid showing - a much-changed side, which gave the Chairboys the impetus to put in an excellent performance, full of grit and desire, twinned with an early wonder-strike which would grace any Goal of the Month competition. The concern for Bournemouth fans is "loss of momentum" and the perceived lack of squad depth. Not many of the stand-ins particularly put in shifts which could give Woodgate a selection headache, with Roro potentially being one of the exceptions - so how are we feeling ahead of the end-of-season lottery? Sam Davis is joined by Jeff Hayward, Tom Jordan and Mr Tigz to analyse the game, and to talk about our likely potential semi-final clash against Swansea. The fun, and nervousness, starts here! The last time AFC Bournemouth won six in a row, we were promoted to the Premier League. Can we?! Well, the Cherries came away from Carrow Road with a 3-1 victory against Norwich City in a match which saw a number of talking points - one of which was a sending off for the home side, a decision which had a select number of Canaries fans up in arms. Numerical advantage aside, despite a poor early 15 minutes where Boscombe managed to concede a sloppy goal through a Pukki & Buendia combination, the away side dominated the rest of the game, going on to score four, one of which was disallowed! It's fair to say that we've hit form at the right time – and when you've got Arnaut in the side, then we always know that we have always got a bit of Danju-magic that can be produced at any given moment – what a guy! To discuss events we have Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Neil Dawson, and Tom Jordan - plus, we look forward to Millwall too! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. A chance to dissect the weekend's match at Dean Court where AFC Bournemouth managed to dispose of Coventry City 4-1. It was a frenetic start with two early goals, but then it became a familiar affair where the Cherries were spurning golden opportunities in front of goal – but at least we are creating them - which suggests that a corner definitely has been turned! Thankfully Danjuma was the man again, and two goals from him and an assist helped Boscombe romp to a relatively relaxed win over the Sky Blues. Plus, we look forward to our early evening clash against the Terriers. Huddersfield are possibly still smarting after the 7-0 humiliation at Norwich, so can Bournemouth add to their woes? If we do, we've won five in a row! To discuss events we have Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Neil Dawson, and Tom Jordan. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Cherries posted a £60m+ loss for the last financial year in some jaw-dropping figures that were released this morning. AFC Bournemouth also posted confirmation that its owner is in to the club to the tune of £160m - a concerning backdrop off the pitch to what has been a fruitless season on it. The cost of Covid has hit hard, but whilst the numbers are fairly similar to other Premier League clubs accounts last season, fans will have a number of questions about the investment going forward, the extremely high percentage of wages vs turnover, and the growing debt that our club seems to accrue… so we've tried to gauge the reaction on Twitter this morning and discuss what we've learned - with Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, and Neil Dawson. Plus, we cannot NOT mention the last football match that AFC Bournemouth turned up to, or more to the point - didn't turn up to. Therefore, with the additional help of Mr Tigz and Tom Jordan, we review the fateful home defeat at the hands of Southampton in the FA Cup Quarter Finals. Also, a big thanks to the guys at Cherries Red Army for supplying the audio sound-bytes too! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Whilst isolated moments throughout the game might have given rise to rose-tinted optimism from some pundits, many Cherries fans will simply not be seduced by these infrequent passages of play. After yet another 3-2 home defeat, this time to Barnsley, Sam Davis, Tom Jordan, Mr Tigz and Jeff Hayward come together for a cathartic look back at yesterday's match - one which Barnsley fully deserved to win. AFC Bournemouth's style in the first half against Barnsley was questionably regarded as being "champagne football" after a spell where we managed to put a few passes together which culminated in a shot - indeed, the brief moments of joy that Cherries displayed in the first 45 against Valérien Ismaël's men seemed to inflate a biased opinion which left Barnsley fans watching on iFollow both bothered and baffled. Plus, we give a taster of our fully interview with Marc Pugh - who provides an expert insight on what it's like to be involved in the Play-Offs! Pughie twice managed to avoid them with automatic promotion, but also he was someone who has experienced the heartbreak of losing in them too! Cherries dropped two points at Deepdale on Saturday against an unpredictable Preston North End side in a match which was the archetypal game of two halves. It was a familiar tale of missed chances followed by punishment for our defensive mistakes. The single point leaves Bournemouth 7th in league, outside the play-offs, sitting behind Barnsley, a team who have got one game in hand on us - it's not looking good, but there's time left. In this podcast, Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Tom Jordan and Mr Tigz take you through proceedings from Saturday, whilst casting a keen eye forward towards our next clashes which see us entertain Barnsley and Swansea - two HUGE games for us! We also have a ten minute taster of a Youtube exclusive with an ex-Cherries midfielder maestro - a pivotal signing in our first Great Escape season - and a player whose darting runs and crucial goals were instrumental in our survival. Of course, it's the one and only Stephen Robinson! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Cherries were in free-fall, without a solid performance in a number of games, so a 1-0 win against high-flying Watford ensured that Boscombe fans actually have some hope for the remainder of the season. Whilst Danjuma provided the difference, big Jeff stole the show with a display of gamesmanship that represented that league we've just been relegated from. A solitary Arnaut goal was the difference at Dean Court, in a sun-drenched affair which saw temperatures rise on and off the pitch - with something akin to a Royal Rumble in the closing minutes, which included a couple of sendings off too. It's never dull is it... Today's show provided an extended dissection of yesterday's 1-0 victory against Watford with Mr Tigz, Jeff Hayward, Neil Dawson and Tom Jordan. It's never dull is it... Today's show provided an extended dissection of yesterday's 1-0 victory against Watford with Mr Tigz, Jeff Hayward, Neil Dawson and Tom Jordan. Being a Cherries fan is never dull, and it certainly wasn't whilst this person was at the helm of the club. If you wanted a person who could help put the area on the map, this person was your man! Eddie Mitchell was AFC Bournemouth Chairman for just over four years. He arrived with winding up petitions to deal with, and left the club by selling his stake to an owner that provided the financial muscle for Bournemouth to become a Premier League team. Jeff Hayward and Neil Dawson talk to Eddie about: ◽️ Becoming chairman of the Cherries ◽️ Unexpected changing room visits ◽️ Relationships with fellow members of staff ◽️ Sweary Radio 5 Live Rants ◽️ The on and off pitch confrontations ◽️ Eddie Howe insight ◽️ Sagas with Southampton ◽️ What he'd have made of the Premier League era If you're enjoying this show and our other interviews you can help support us by buying us a coffee at http://www.afcbpodcast.com/coffee - we really appreciate it!

We’re joined by yet another character in the Cherries calvary by the way of combative midfielder John Bailey - a player that wore his heart on his sleeve, playing 137 games for Boscombe, spanning five season, scoring 13 goals (some of them in friendlies, admittedly), one of which was in the most famous football stadium in the world. He was tough, he got rough, but his tenacity encapsulated the never say die era that most Cherries fans went through at the time. Jeff Hayward and Neil Dawson speak to him about: ◽️ The slippery characters ◽️ A clique of players he simply couldn't stand ◽️ The rule he broke the night before Wembley. ◽️ How he'd have dealt with "The Weasel"

What a season we're having. Jason Tindall departed the club in the week after a poor run of results for the Cherries. Whilst we had games that some Cherries fans could attend, the majority of us will be returning to a vastly different club - no Eddie, no Jason. It's sad we haven't had the chance to say goodbye to some incredible servants. Despite the risk not working, Jason is still one of them - thank you JT. So it was Jonathan Woodgate that stood in for our home clash against the Blues on the following Saturday. To his credit, he obviously needed to come in and pick up players who have been mentally at a low and players who haven’t had the confidence to express themselves on the football pitch for some time. Whilst the showing was far from perfect, it was one was saw us score goals. In this podcast Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Neil Dawson and Tom Jordan take you through the weekend game, before going on to analyse the runners and riders for the managerial vacancy at Dean Court - with a Tier List! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Cherries are sitting sixth in the Championship, but after a series of horrendous performances, the brutal reality is that we are dropping like a stone - unless that is, the team starts to apply themselves. In this pod there is an extended chat about what is going on at AFC Bournemouth after that 3-1 loss to Reading on Friday night with Mr Tigz, Neil Dawson, Jeff Hayward and Tom Jordan. ◽️ What do you think is creating the lack of desire on the pitch? ◽️ Is the Jason Tindall capable of mentally raising these players? ◽️ If players are self-interested and playing for themselves, what do you do to change this? ◽️ Discussion on Dan Gosling's exit to Watford. ◽️ Ben Pearson. Shaun Teale is a player who many of us idolised for the two and a half seasons that he was with us. Moving from non-league, he made 62 appearances for the Cherries between 1989 and 1992 before joining Aston Villa for £350,000 where he formed an outstanding partnership with Irish international, Paul McGrath. He’s a player who’s been described as "the most centre-half looking centre-half who ever lived", with possibly the biggest calves that some Bournemouth fans have ever seen. Also a star for Southport, Weymouth, Tranmere, Preston, Motherwell, Carlisle amongst others - tonight he is joined by Jeff Hayward and Neil Dawson, who ask the questions about his fascinating career. Includes: ◽️ The Redknapp Run-Ins ◽️ Pinning managers again changing room doors ◽️ Why Big Ron prevented him playing for England ◽️ Villa experiences alongside Paul McGrath ◽️ His current career as a painter and decorator If you're enjoying this show and our other interviews you can help support us by buying us a coffee at http://www.afcbpodcast.com/coffee - we really appreciate it!

Bournemouth made hard work of the beautiful game against yet another team in the bottom half of the table on Saturday as Luton Town emerged 1-0 winners at Dean Court in a deserved victory where Cherries simply did not do enough. Despite sporadic moments of near-joy, Cherries look disjointed and asunder - a far cry from the Championship winning side of 6/7 years ago. If we're thinking promotion, we might need to think again. It wasn't just Bmth that weren’t at the races, the ref wasn’t either. A diabolical performance from the man in the middle. He drove down from the North East to officiate today - yet more pointless travel over a long distance during Covid, and... just like Dominic Cummings, maybe he needed an eye test too - as he sent off Lerma with one of the worst reds we have seen. Despite that, Cherres kept on trying to walk it into the box, and Luton were clinical when they needed to be. In this podcast, Sam Davis is joined by Jeff Hayward, Mr Tigz and Tom Jordan to dissect the game, plus we hear a snippet of an extended interview which is on Youtube, and will be arriving on your podcast app next week! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Bournemouth has always been a club that has been associated with fast free-flowing football, and as a result of that, we have witnessed plenty of incredible goals over the years from an array of strikers, and on this show - we have a couple of guests that have lots of experience of hitting the back of the net for both Bournemouth and their other respective clubs. They were both born in the South, are both 5 foot 9, and both have played for Cherries in the naughties and 2010's… Firstly, Matt Tubbs... a player who netted 49 goals in 65 matches for Crawley Town - a ridiculous record! He had a loan spell at the Cherries in 2008 before completing a permanent switch in 2012, and his goals were a crucial part of AFC Bournemouth reaching the Championship! Plus, Josh McQuoid - a player that came through the youth at AFCB after a brief spell at Saints. He made 63 appearances for us, joined the Cherries first team set up in 2006 and his goal-scoring form got better as time went on. In November 2010, he scored a hat-trick for Bournemouth in consecutive home wins, something which evidently created a path for a move away to play Championship football where he joined Millwall! He returned in 2012, was alongside the likes of Franno, Ritchie, Grabban and Fraser up the leagues. An international for Northern Ireland too, he is currently plying his trade at Weymouth. We talk about their footballing experiences, loan moves, dealing with Jimmy Quinn, the Minus 17 era, the influences on and off the pitch (good and bad), the current side, being "rested" on the first game of the season, and much more besides... Asking the questions are Jeff Hayward and Sam Davis. On Saturday night, Cherries weren’t exactly vintage. A change of formation, two personnel changes, and a familiar frustration for large parts of the game. But Junior Stanislas came good when needed. In this podcast Sam Davis, Neil Dawson, Jeff Hayward and Tom Jordan dissect our performance at the Bet 365 Stadium. Stoke were good at stifling the attacks, whilst not producing a lot of their own. But that said, it felt like they had the majority of the chances in the first half albeit not the clearest. Boscombe had the best opportunity of the second half though… and they took it. Cook fed Junior, and whilst he didn’t have the best of games, he certainly does possess the ice-cold mentality that is required in those situations. We also have a mid-term review of the Championship's runners and riders with Daniel Storey (BBC, Totally Football Pod, PL and Forest fan) - and Nancy Frostick (Sheffield Wednesday reporter for The Athletic and the i Paper) - the full audio of which you can see on Youtube. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms.
