Researching on the Mary Ferrell site, Paul discovered a significant letter from 1960. Read more. Explicit information in the letter is regarding the removal of Castro from power in Cuba. As early as 1960, Lansdale was influencing in the dirty tricks category in respects to Cuba. Tactics like manipulation of information, planting false evidence, setting up Patsies, blaming people etc.. Ed Lansdale had been involved in Operation Mongoose & was a key figure in Kennedy's assassination. Col. Fletcher Prouty worked with Ed Lansdale, having detailed information about Lansdale's history. Lansdale position in the world of espionage was to aid the French resistance during WWII. During WWII, Lansdale was in the OSS & sent to the Philippines by General Charles Willoughby. Paul Helliwell will be revealed to be money behind the assassination Allen Dulles stated Lansdale was one of his best men, helping to fight off communism in Vietnam. Prior to WWII Lansdale was involved in the advertising world. Advertising is mass psychology. Both David Atlee Phillips & Ed Lansdale were experts in the art of psychological warfare. An advisor to Ramon Magsaysay, Lansdale was given the role by Dulles to fight off the Huks movement. The Huks farmers were rebelling against the forced rural reformation that was taking place in the Philippines. Lansdale later became an advisor to the French in Vietnam. Excom was the Executive Committee that Kennedy organized to help him problem solve during the crisis. Robert Kennedy, CIA's John McCone, JCS members & others were on the board of the Excom Committee. Ed Lansdale's go to person at the CIA was William K. Harvey. Harvey is another key figure in JFK's murder. Policy would be set up, directions sent to SAS, SAS would create plan to follow through with objective. Prouty had been sent to the South Pole escorting VIPS, conveniently out of the way for JFK's murderers. Previously Prouty had been involved in Eissenhower's security when he visited Mexico City. Fletcher Prouty identifies Ed Lansdale in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963. Listen as Len gives a detailed background of Prouty's timeline before the assassination. Prouty believed Lansdale was involved in Prouty being sent to the South Pole just before the assassination. Was Ed Lansdale captured walking in the photos that were taken of the three tramps in Dealey Plaza? Why would Lansdale be in Dallas? Did anyone ever asked him? No one has thought that Lansdale was a shooter in Dealey Plaza, more of an organizational support person. Prouty was able to remove documents before his retirement by having his secretaries not stamp TOP SECRET. In Prouty's last days, he offered his collection of records & government papers to Len. A small van would have been needed to transport documents, surely to bring attention at the border crossing. Oswald was made to look like he had backing from ...

Eric and Eliot return from Thanksgiving to discuss the Trump transition and its national security nominations so far. They talk about Kash Patel as FBI Director, the new allegations against Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth, as well as the nepotistic nominations of in laws Charles Kushner, a convicted felon, as Ambassador to France and Massad Boulos as Middle East advisor. They discuss whether or not to take any solace from the nomination of General (ret.) Keith Kellogg as Ukraine Peace negotiator and the pluses and minuses of the America First Institute peace plan that Kellogg co-authored with Fred Fleitz in April. They also touch on the prospective challenges to civil-military relations that are likely to emerge early in the Trump Administration with mass deportation and prospective purges of the JCS and the senior officer corps more broadly. They discuss a series of developments in Europe and the Middle East that have not received as much attention as they deserve given the focus on the transition in the US including the Presidential election in Romania which was subject to Russian interference and the potential election of a populist, NATO skeptic as President, the rising protests in Georgia that eerily echo what happened in Ukraine with the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 and finally the Syrian opposition offensive against the regime of Bashar al Assad and its capture of Aleppo, Syria's second largest city. This week Seth and Bill take a very deep dive into the decision to either invade Formosa or liberate the Philippines in the fall of 1944. The two options were both on the table for the JCS in 1944, and the favored option isn't the one you are thinking of. The team takes a look at the roots of the Philippine obsession by MacArthur and the desire to take Formosa by ADM King and the tactics employed by both teams as they each tried to steer the JCS and the President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, to their side of the fence. The back-and-forth fight culminated in a meeting between Nimitz, MacArthur and FDR in Hawaii in 1944. However, as opposed to a dry retelling, there's musical numbers and enough bizarre choices to fill, well, an entire hour and forty-six minutes. There's better ways in 2024 to get your JCS fix folks, this isn't it.For more Kulturecast episodes and podcasts guaranteed to be your new favorite audio obsession, check out Weirding Way Media at weirdingwaymedia.com.

William (Will) Yeske is a combat veteran who served 11 years in the United States Army. He is a serial entrepreneur who brings significant expertise in marketing, IT, and project management. He currently runs and operates a marketing company, No Limits Marketing Group (NLMG), founded to help small businesses survive the COVID-19 pandemic. It uses a combination of modern marketing techniques coupled with a non-lethal targeting framework learned within the military to provide clients with winning strategies. Will was also a founding board member of a Veteran non-profit, Rally for the Troops (now part of Racing for Heroes) and has worked on other veteran-based projects. He is currently attending Columbia Business School while running current business projects, creating new possibilities for future endeavors, and parenting his two children alongside his partner, who is also a United States military veteran.“DAMN THE VALLEY” was a phrase regularly uttered by the men that spent any amount of time in the Arghandab River Valley during the deployment of 2 Fury to Afghanistan in 2009–2010. The valley has claimed bodies from the troops of Alexander the Great, the British Empire, and more recently, the Russian Army. Operating in the valley was like nothing the men could have envisaged, they called it the “meat grinder.” It was a deployment that the media didn't talk about, and the government doesn't acknowledge. Three of the company were KIA, more than a dozen suffered life-changing injuries, and half the company had Purple Hearts—not many modern-day deployments have a 52% casualty rate. At one point, the entire prosthetics ward at Walter Reed was full of the men who patrolled that deadly area of the world. Since their return, many of the survivors have struggled to move on with their lives, and the unit has been declared at "extraordinary risk" by the Department of Veteran Affairs. No one who entered that region was left unscathed. This book shares the perspective of the men that were on the ground for that deployment during the fighting season of 2010. "A riveting, unsparing, gritty, first-hand account of life in a great airborne unit that engaged in some of the toughest fighting in Afghanistan, in "the Arghandab," a district whose name became a metaphor for brutal close combat against tenacious enemies. Damn the Valley captures vividly the intense dynamics and relationships in the brotherhood of the close fight in the toughest imaginable conditions - and also the extraordinary reliance of paratroopers on their airborne buddies on their left and right and their leaders. A great read!"General David Petraeus, former Commander of the Surge in Iraq, US Central Command, and NATO/US Forces in Afghanistan; former Director of the CIA; and co-author of "Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine" “Sobering, powerful, factual; this is a must-read first-person story which brilliantly and empathically illuminates the facets of a soldier's life during combat in one of Afghanistan's toughest districts. This is a rare glimpse into the realities real American heroes face to pay for our freedom. As the Fury commander there, for 24 months, I understand we asked soldiers to sacrifice on our behalf with ill-defined goals. Thus the book quote resonated with me, that the only way to WIN was to, 'continually do [sic] the right thing in the face of everything that screams to you that it wasn't worth it to stay on the path of the righteous.' They served with honor!"Brian Mennes Major General (Ret) former Deputy Commander 18th Airborne Corps, US Army“Yeske provides a riveting account of the brutality and unforgiving nature of direct combat from the paratroopers who had to deal with it in one of the most dangerous and contentious areas and times of the Afghan War. He also clearly articulates the interpersonal nature of small unit combat, and his writing makes the reader feel as if they are there, on patrol, or under fire with him and his buddies. I recommend this book to any small unit leader to understand what combat is about and to any leader in general to understand what our troops at the tactical level must endure during extended combat.”John Wayne Troxell, SEAC (Ret), USA, 3rd Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman, JCS, and author of "Surrender or Die! What we experience in Christ, we share with each other. And we only fully participate in the life of Christ if and when we operate as part of the mutually loving body of Christ. This is why Paul wants to tell us to think like Christ in complete and total sacrifice. Yet he begins that section of Philippians 2 by urging us to be like Christ, "if there is any fellowship in the Spirit” (Phil 2:1).Fellowship is to participate in and share life together. This is why “church” means “community,” especially one that lives and loves together. The sermon today is titled "Fellowship." It is the fourth installment in our "Community" Series. The Scripture reading is from Acts 2:42 (ESV). Originally preached at the West Side Church of Christ (Searcy, AR) on May 14, 2023. All lessons fit under one of 5 broad categories: Begin, Discover, Grow, Learn, and Serve. The United States military is the most powerful in the world; it is ordered from within by a strict hierarchy—people in uniform—and from without by civilian leadership, or people in suits. The Joint Chiefs of Staff bridge the gap between the military and executive branches to maintain the balance between military and civilian leadership. In this episode of Big World, SIS professor Sharon Weiner joins us to discuss the roles of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Professor Weiner discusses her new book “Managing the Military” (2:46) and explains the history of the JCS's policy of public disagreement (4:41). She discusses how Robert McNamara shaped the practices of the JCS (time) and talks about the impact of the Goldwater-Nichols Act (9:55). Why does an increase in so-called “jointness” increase the power of the chairman of the JCS (12:03)? Will we see another chairman as powerful and influential as Colin Powell again (14:07)? Why was it so shocking when current JCS chairman Gen. Mark Milley appeared in a certain famous photo with former President Trump (27:37)? Weiner answers these questions and discusses the importance and impact of the public and political image of the chairman and the JCS (28:35). The episode concludes as Weiner examines who really manages whom and how the government and military exert their leverage over one another (32:03). During our “Take Five” segment, Weiner shares five policies and procedure that would improve military and civilian relations (20:57).
