The emergence of AI will inevitably change creative industries, but is yet to really impress, according to a new survey. AUT researchers asked five New Zealand-based advertising agencies to consider the impact of AI-generated images on their creative processes. Focus groups from large and boutique ad agencies were shown AI-created 'blended' animal images created from text prompts, for a VW ad campaign called "small but ferocious". They were asked to consider AI's impact on aesthetics, the creative practice, and the relative merits of human vs machine capabilities. The response was a mixture of excitement and concern. Senior Digital Media and Communication lecturer at Auckland University of Technology, Justin Matthews, who is leading the research speaks with Kathryn.

In this message Justin Matthews shares his thoughts on "Career Advice." Justin shares what career advice a google search gives us and helps us wade through what is bad advice vs. good advice. Is a good career about the money? The schedule? The reputation? Or is it really just about following Jesus?
In this message Justin Matthews shares about joy in our series all about engaging our emotions in a healthy way. What is the difference between joy and happiness? What ways can you practice or remember joy?
9.10.19 In this message Justin shares about personal ministry. That can sound weird. Or even unaccessible. Like only the best of christians have that. But we think personal ministry is very closely tied to service. And all of us are called to that. And when we step into things like missions, or volunteering, becoming a leader at church or even having conversations about faith with your roommates- it grows us. When we step out of our comfort zones, it forces us to depend on God. And he always shows up.
In this message from August 27th, Justin shares his story of having incredible friendship in college and challenges us to fight for it in our lives.

9.11.18 // It's easy to write off people like Jonah. So often we hear this story in children books, and we think that we would never do what he did. In this message we hear Justin share the full picture of Jonah, why he was an unlikely choice for God to use, and how we are actually just like him. Discussion Questions: -What are your thoughts and opinions about the book of Jonah? -How are you similar to Jonah? -Have you had a time where you were running from God? If so, were you aware at the time that was what you were doing? -Do you have a 'Ninevah'? Who are people that are hard for you to love and wish blessings for? -What is your response to God's question to us, 'Should not I have concern for (your) Ninevah?'

April 17th, 2018 Justin opened the floor to share the worst spiritual advice you've ever been given. The recording starts abruptly during that sharing. He focused primarily on the most common topic of bad advice, which is doubt. What do you do in the face of your own doubt? What have you been told in the past? Justin encouraged all of us, to know we are not alone in doubt. Scripture used: Luke 7:18-23 Discussion questions: In which area of your life would you say you have the most doubts? In your relationships? At school? In your faith? How do you respond or react to your doubt? When you hear that some of the "big names" in the Bible: David, John the Baptist, and Thomas had doubts, how does that make you feel? What hit you the most in what Justin had to say? Why did it stand out to you and what can you do with it?
Bruins captain Justin Matthews joins the show to talk about the focus the team has this season after falling short in the national tournament last year.
January 30th Part 1 in the Bad Advice Series, Justin Matthews shares Bad Career Advice and Gods plan for following Him.
Our fall kick off message from Timberline College August 29th, 2017. Following Jesus is worth it!
This is a show of Rebel Songs. From traditional Irish rebel songs to rebel songs inspired by Firefly, you'll hear a fun mix of songs to get your blood boilin' with music from Marc Gunn, Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones, Brobdingnagian Bards, The Kilt Lifters, Crikwater, Marc Gunn & The Dubliners' Tabby Cats, Bedlam Bards, 3 Pints Gone, Kilted Kings, Ed Miller. Listen and share. Then subscribe for 5 Free MP3s at http://pubsong.net/. Before we get started, I want to let you know that my next album of Firefly music is now being funded on Kickstarter. It's called "As Long As I'm Flyin'". You have until May 18, 2017 to make a pledge if you want a physical CD. After that go to FireflyDrinkingSongs.com. I started compiling this episode at the beginning of 2017. I planned to use it as a platform to share my anger and frustration with the Trump administration's assault on civil rights, health care and the environment. But I decided not to. Overall, that's not what I do musically. Instead, I'll let the songs speak for themselves. Politics is a huge part of Celtic culture. I heard a quote by Irish songwriter Frank Harte on the Irish Music Stories podcast (episode 2) that said, "Those in power write the history. Those who suffer write the songs." For that reason, many of the best traditional Irish songs are rebel songs. They are the songs of people who suffer. When I started playing rebel songs with the Brobdingnagian Bards, we played them, not for the politics, but because they were powerful songs. This show is dedicated to rebel songs in general. The first half has some more traditional rebel songs. The second half are the not-so-traditional ones. And I promise to leave my politics out of any discussion. Pub Talk Celtfather Tuesdays. You might notice that this show came out on Tuesdays. I'm trying to better manage my content. I put out the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast on Thursdays. So every Tuesday, I'm gonna plan to post new content, whether it's the Pub Songs Podcast, the Celtfather Music & Travel or new videos on YouTube. Look for them on Tuesdays. My next show is at Johnnie MacCracken's on May 13. The show starts at 7pm. So if you want me to keep coming out to Marietta, Georgia every month, come to this show!
