Today, Ali and Asif continue their discussion about the 50th season of Saturday Night Live by discussing the recent movie “Saturday Night” (3:21). They discuss the fast paced format of the movie, which takes place in real time in the 90 minutes before the SNL premiere on Oct 11, 1975. They also chat about the spectacular cast and what is and what is not true in the movie. They guys then watch and give their opinions on the actual first episode of SNL.    Then, because Robert F Kennedy Jr. has been in the news as of late, they discuss his (and others) concerns about fluoride in drinking water (18:33). Asif starts off discussing what fluoride is, how it fights cavities and the history of why it was introduced to drinking water. Ali then asks about the adverse effects of high fluoride and Asif discusses the dental and skeletal issues. He then goes over the arguments against fluoridation. Finally he discusses a recent report about low IQ being associated with high fluoride levels and why this is likely NOT a cause for worry for the majority of people.    The opinions expressed are those of the hosts, and do not reflect those of any other organizations. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Patti Weidenfeld, daughter of comedian/actor Pat Cooper. An entertainer for more than 50 years, Pat Cooper was known as a ‘comedians comedian', someone who other comedians look up to as a genuine talent and a show business icon. Born in Coney Island Brooklyn, Pat Cooper embodied the Mad Men era comedy scene up until last year when he passed away at age 93. What Jackie Mason was for Jewish comedians, Pat Cooper did for Italian comedians. And believe me he wore his Italian heritage proudly. One of his comedy album Spaghetti Sauce and Other Delights featured Pat posing in spaghetti sauce a la Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream and Other Delights. Many comedy fans today know Pat Cooper from his guest spots on Seinfeld and films like Analyze This and Analyze That. Unfortunately he's also remembered for his many appearances on The Howard Stern Show where he became famous as an outrage comic who told tough, real family stories on air airing his dirty laundry for all to hear. Patti on the other hand, talks to us about growing up in 70s Las Vegas and travelling with her father and mother to casinos on the strip and on the Atlantic City boardwalk opening for entertainers such as Paul Anka, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, Tony Bennett, Liza Minelli, Sammy Davis Jr. and more. When he wasn't doing club dates, he was doing guest hosting slots on The Merv Griffin Show and The Mike Douglas Show upwards of 60 times…each. His infamous 1981 spot on Tom Snyder's Tomorrow show interview revealed too much about headliners demands that he felt were ridiculous and got him blackballed from working in his adopted home town Las Vegas for years. Once again, Pat aired too much dirty laundry. Still, Patti had an idyllic life with her father and mother until one day when Patti realized that some things she heard from her parents just didn't add up. We discuss this with at length with Patti on part one of our interview which you are about to hear right now. This is the Rarified Heir Podcast, everyone has a story. This one, you haven't heard before.

He was the author of several books, including "A Grimoire of Shadows" and "The Rites of Odin." He was a member of the original Brethen of the Coast Pirate Club; and as a sailor he crewed on Sydney Hatchl's schooner Escape, and was 2nd mate on my schooner Valkyrie. He was a witch and a magician, a wizard and a warrior, a sailer and a sage. He was a Gentleman of the Old School. He will be long remembered and he will be missed.

Tom Snyder, who passed away in 2007, was a broadcast legend who has deep connections to the David Letterman mythos. For years he followed Johnny Carson's Tonight Show by hosting 'The Tomorrow Show,' a long form conversation television program featuring world class panelists from entertainment, politics, and pop culture. David Letterman was a dedicated viewer of the program and made multiple appearances on the show as a guest. When 'Late Night with David Letterman' began it replaced the Tomorrow Show and Tom, continuing his broadcasting career, worked on multiple projects, including his radio/television show on CNBC. In 1994 when it was time for David Letterman to pick the first host for the show that would follow Late Show with David Letterman, Dave knew who he wanted, and on January 9th 1995, The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder was born. This episode of The Letterman Podcast is hopefully our first of many episodes focused on Tom. We are very pleased that his daughter Annie has joined us for a really nice conversation about her dad, and she shares insights on many of the things we love about Tom, and hints at a few upcoming projects based around him and his incredible body of work. She has also given us her blessing to show footage of Tom and his programs as well, for which we are very grateful. We also show footage of the press conference announcing Tom's move to CBS as well. The audio on that is a little lower because the footage is old. The Letterman Podcast is brought to you by hello-deli.com your only source for official Late Show with David Letterman merchandise. From tickling the ivories as a guest piano player on the set of Saturday Night Live, where he shared the stage with the incomparable Eddie Murphy, to becoming a news and sports anchor for affiliates of NBC, CBS, and Fox, his career is a testament to his versatility and resilience. Hear about his encounter with a political figure and the near mishap of almost knocking Ted Kennedy to the ground right before an interview on Meet the Press.  And who could forget the unconventional swim in the fountain at Rockefeller Plaza with none other than the legendary Bill Murray? His journey is sprinkled with memorable encounters, from retrieving a guitar left behind by CHEAP TRICK to escorting Debbie Harry of Blondie on Valentine's Day, receiving a box of chocolates in gratitude.  He even played a pivotal role in helping David Letterman find his dressing room on his first day in NYC, setting the stage for the iconic career that followed. One of the most remarkable chapters of our guest involves sleeping in his car for six straight nights at Cape Canaveral while working as a production assistant for the TODAY SHOW during the lead-up to the first Space Shuttle Launch in 1981.  He sang and played piano for a duet with another NBC employee in the first ALL-NBC TALENT SHOW, held in 8-H. Tom Snyder was hosting. Join us on a captivating journey through the pages of his remarkable life, sharing anecdotes that span from the humorous to the heartwarming and reminding us that sometimes, the most unforgettable moments are written in the margins of history. Today on another encore edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Anne Marie Snyder, daughter of the great Tom Snyder. We selected this very episode for this very date because on October 15 it will mark the 50th anniversary of the Tomorrow show. And if that's not a reason to raise your glass and toast one of the greatest talk show hosts in history with a colortini, I don't know what is. When we originally ran this episode, it quickly became one of our most listened to episodes. It was a true reminder that Tom Snyder connected with his fans in a way many in television did not. He was beloved by his fans for his one on one in-depth interviews, his ever-present cigarette in the early years and his penchant for a good stiff drink. We spoke to Anne Marie about growing up with a firm but loving father, as well as her father's guests on the show specifically Charles Manson to Tom Petty and Bono from U2. We also learned about her goal about trying to save the legacy of the Tomorrow show by preserving as many episodes on tape as she could. This has led her to a project we can't really talk about but when it happens, we'll have her back on to tell us all about it. But for now, take a listen to Anne Marie Snyder, our guest on this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast as we salute the 50th anniversary of the Tomorrow show. Everyone has a story.

Craig Kilborn has indelibly and stylishly stamped his unique, hosty  brand across the worlds of Sports and Late Night Comedy.Mixing a patrician personality, with a razor sharp wit and folding in a pinch of irreverent snark, Lord Kilby has now taken up residency at manner houses in the lands of Instagram and podcasting. A star high school athlete, Craig excelled at basketball, knowing that his future lay in comedy. He blended his strengths as a smart aleck  sportscaster in Monterey, California where he acquired his taste for the fancy which he now celebrates on Instagram and on his podcast, The Life Gorgeous.Craig joins us with action items for those who aspire to live their lives more gorgeously. (You may need a boat.) And despite the adversity of no adversity, he tells us how a tall, handsome, high school jock was able to acquire so sharp a wit. His SportsCenter stint forever changed the tone of sportscasting and, on a personal note, led to a surprise phone call from new fan, Bill Murray! We discuss Craig's background as The Daily Show's inaugural host, taking over for Tom Snyder on The Late, Late Show, and why he eventually lost his passion for the politics of it all and stepped away. Plus, Weezy shares highlights from the performance of Unforgettable Sunrise, a symphony written by non-verbal autistic teen, Jacob Rock.Fritz is recommending A Haunting in Venice, now in theaters and Weezy strongly advises you to watch the documentary, Torn on Hulu.Path Points of Interest:The Craig Kilborn Podcast: The Life GorgeousCraig Kilborn on InstagramCraig Kilborn on FacebookCraig Kilborn on WikipediaUnforgettable Sunrise HighlightsA Haunting in Venice - In Theaters Torn on Hulu

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Noopy Rodrigues, daughter of comedian and singer Rose Marie and trumpeter Bobby Guy. Talking to Noopy was a fun and lively experience because the thing that became clear from the word go was how many connections we had that we didn't even know about. From Broadway theaters our mom's performed in, being brought out on stage by famous entertainers when we were likely not even in Kindergarten, strong single mothers who raised their families after devastating losses, growing up in the San Fernando Valley and more. Noopy also somehow connected the dots to other guests – as she was a segment producer on the Tomorrow show with Tom Snyder, whose daughter Ann Marie Snyder was prior guest as well as how her mother saved all sorts of amazing things including the very recordings that make up the new CD Rose Marie Sings: The Complete Mercury Recordings & More. If that sounds amazingly familiar to what host Josh Mills is working on as well, don't worry, we made that connection already. Along the way we also talk Rosalind Russell, Phil Silvers, Morey Amsterdam, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis and some guy named Popcorn who really will blow your mind. Take a listen to our conversation with Noopy Rodrigues on this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

But the surprises don't stop there. Our guest had the incredible opportunity to meet the master Muppet himself, Jim Henson! And did you know that Henson's creations originally played late at night? Now, let's talk about the Page lounge, It turns out that our guest and his fellow Pages had some truly iconic visitors, they were some cool brothers, and let's just say that they made the showers a great place for singing the blues!  And hear the candid words from Chevy Chase regarding working on SNL! Our guest also had the privilege of being introduced to none other than "Billy" Murray by Dan Aykroyd. Talk about a legendary duo! Ah, the life of the party. We all want to know who takes that crown at SNL. Our guest will reveal who the biggest member was when it came to bringing laughter and fun to the set and after parties.  And our guest will explain how he helped Dan Aykroyd master the art of imitating the legendary late-night host, Tom Snyder. In this episode, both Mike and Don Giller get the chance to ask Morty all sorts of questions and discuss many points about Late Night/Late Show, and the business that surrounded the programs. What was it like during the negotiations leaving NBC? Who at one time was considering buying Worldwide Pants? And is it 'Late Show,' or 'The Late Show?' These topics, and many, many more are discussed in this fascinating behind the scenes palaver that will delight any enthusiast of David Letterman and Company. This release date of these episodes marks 8 years since David Letterman left the airwaves of Late Night, and the marking of the year Morty turned 70. We love how Dave has evolved, and we asked Morton who he would like to see Letterman interview long form (Tom Snyder style) in a future episode of 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.' We at The Letterman Podcast wanted to mark the occasion with some very special content, beginning with this episode. Robert Morton was with Dave's Late Night from its debut in 1982 and became the show's Executive Producer by 1992, a position retained when Dave moved to CBS the following year. Morton was also an architect of Dave's production company, Worldwide Pants. He also might be one of the most charming humans currently walking the face of the Earth. Morty has graciously shared some of the funny and insightful behind-the-scenes moments during his time working for Dave. Part one covers his early working years, including his involvement in the early expansion of cable television; working for Tom Snyder; relating a beautiful little Andy Kaufman story; and much more. This exceptional two-part conversation is the tip of a large iceberg we hope will continue both here and in other projects moving forward. Bara några månader tidigare stretade bandet runt på olika sunkhak i New York. Although Rand would in later years give long-form interviews to Phil Donahue, Tom Snyder and others, these three Johnny Carson interviews remain unsurpassed for sheer breadth. Who's That Girl? A New Girl Podcast

This podcast covers New Girl Season 3, Episode 3, Double Date, which originally aired on October 1, 2013 and was written by Luvh Rakhe and directed by Max Winkler. Here's a quick recap of the episode:Nick, Jess, Cece, and Schmidt decide to go on a double date! However, Cece's concerned by Schmidt's weird behavior and it's not long until Schmidt's truth comes out. Winston doesn't want to feel left out and tries to secure a reservation for the Double Date +1. We discuss Pop Culture References such as:Lance Armstrong / Livestrong Bracelet - Jess was telling Cece she didn't think Schmidt was on drugs because Schmidt took it really hard when “Lance got busted. He just stared at that yellow bracelet and cried.”Spaceballs - Jess shared Spaceballs quotes, which Nick was impressed with. Here's a clip of the “jammed” radar scene.Additional Pop Culture References such as:Dexter - When Schmidt was coordinating with Elizabeth what they were doing that night, she said “Dexter and pie.”  Dexter is an American crime drama television series that aired from 2006 to 2013 and focused on Dexter Morgan, a forensic technician specializing in bloodstain pattern analysis, but was also a vigilante serial killer, hunting down murderers who have not been adequately punished by the justice system. Dexter returned in 2021 with a 10-episode limited series titled Dexter: New Blood."Weird Al" Yankovic - When Jess and Nick were in bed together, Jess shared her elbow cracks because she “[pumped her] fist too hard at a Weird Al show.” Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic is an American singer, musician, record producer, and actor who is known for humorous songs that make light of pop culture and often parodies specific songs by contemporary musical acts. He also performs original songs, most of which feature his trademark accordion.Toni Morisson - When Winston called the restaurant Picca, he pretended to be Toni Morrison to get a reservation. Chloe Anthony Wofford Morrison, known as Toni Morrison, was an American novelist. Morrison was the first black female editor in fiction at Random House and later developed her own reputation as an author. Morrison's works are praised for addressing the harsh consequences of racism in the United States and she has won many prestigious awards for her writing. What to Expect When You're Expecting - When Schmidt is threatening to break Nick and Jess up, he says it might happen as they watch the movie What to Expect When You're Expecting, which is a 2012 American rom-com movie based on Heidi Murkoff's 1984 pregnancy guide of the same name. The movie follows the lives of five couples as their lives are turned upside down by the difficulties and surprises of parenthood.Craig Kilborn / Daily Show - When Jess and Nick were reviewing things that might break them up, Nick shared that he prefers the “Kilborn Daily Show”. Craig Lawrence Kilborn is an American comedian, sports and political commentator, actor, and television host. Beginning his career in sports broadcasting with an anchoring position at ESPN's SportsCenter (1993 - 1996), he was later the first host of The Daily Show, which he hosted from 1996 to 1998. After that, he succeeded Tom Snyder on CBS' The Late Late Show from 1999 to 2004.This episode we discuss who would be more likely to go early and claim a table for friends, barter badly for a reservation, smush a pie in someone's face, and dance during a tense conversation. We also cover the honorary “Schmidtism” of Schmidt thinking Nick cracked his email password and when he was flustered about going on a double date with Cece, Jess, and Nick. For “Not in the 2020s” we talk about everything Schmidt did in this episode and for our “Yes in the 2020s” we discuss Cece calling Elizabeth. We also give a brief look into Alice Wetterlund (Hostess), our guest star of the episode. Also in this episode were the following guest stars who we do not discuss in the podcast: Merritt Wever (Elizabeth - Previously discussed in S2E22), Barney Cheng (Valet), Tyler Langdon (Tourist), Cheyenne Nugent (Angry Girl #1), Andrew Pish (Restaurant Boyfriend), and Whitney Shumaker (Bar Patron). We did a deep dive into the different cars that Nick has driven so far and shared an article of how someone felt Winston's scenes were shot separately (the article does contain spoilers). In addition, we also talk about this article that compared Schmidt's evil-ness to Walter White from Breaking Bad. Neither of us found the bear in this episode. While not discussed in the podcast, we noted other references in this episode including:Moon Landing - When Nick and Jess are sharing what might break them up with each other, Nick states that the moon landing was obviously fake. The United States of America was the first country to have a crewed mission to land on the Moon, on July 20, 1969. There are many conspiracy theories that this was faked and that the 12 Apollo astronauts did not actually walk on the moon but rather that the evidence was faked to mislead the public. This episode got a 6.5/10 rating from both Kritika and Kelly and both had the same favorite character: Nick! Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 4!Music: "Hotshot” by scottholmesmusic.comFollow us on Twitter, Instagram or email us at whosthatgirlpod@gmail.com!Website: https://smallscreenchatter.com/
