My fellow Mount Man and international recording artist Logan James makes his first appearance on the show. We talk about the influence of Baltimore in hip hop culture, the trials and tribulations of writing music, and the business side of it all.

Before 1984, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis were known to those who watched Saturday Night Live, rude comedies, or both. But when the little comedy called Ghostbusters, about a ghost containment system and the doofuses who run it, came out, everyone knew who they -oh, and Ernie Hudson- were. The film became a phenomenon. It helped launch the careers of all involved, inspired future ghost hunters, and even took the term 'gatekeeping' to whole new levels when in 2016 fans of the original were threatened by a bunch of females taking over their turf. So why were there only three -four- films made, and is the first film really the only good thing it inspired? Join myself, Matt, and the returning Logan James to help answer the call of just how good a franchise Ghostbusters is. First and foremost, you might notice a change in the lineup of this sequel we were building up to. The podcast addresses that, as well as Adam's Ghostbusters history, before we dig right into Ghostbusters Afterlife, Jason Reitman's sequel (or is it love letter?) to his father Ivan's Ghostbusters legacy. But is it any good? Are the cameos and numerous nods put in the film in the name of member berries enough to please the three hosts? After all, it worked sooo well with 2016's Ghostbusters remake. Join myself, Matt, and the returning Logan James to help answer the call of just how good a franchise Ghostbusters is. Controversy, controversy, controversy. That's about the only way to describe a seemingly harmless remake attempt by noted comedy director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids). But almost the second the film was announced, the keyboard warriors were out in full force, calling for boycotts of the film and even making fun of the stars' appearances. But the remake was the result of several starts/stops when it came to a Ghostbusters 3, and when the script of that film went through draft after draft with some stars scoffing (Moranis was retired from acting, and Bill Murray was being, well, Bill Murray) the remake was greenlit as a compromise. But with some noted writers from The Office scripting, would Feig's film be up to par with even the lesser Ghostbusters 2? A movie that is a phenomenon is almost impossible. But a sequel to a comedic movie that became a lexicon of pop culture? Well, that was the task given by an anxious studio looking to cash in to writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, as well as the cast and of course director Ivan Reitman. As rare as a successful film is, a successful sequel is even tougher. And most say Ghostbusters 2...isn't exactly great. So how do we feel? Listen below as Logan, Matt (who's watching this movie for the second time), and myself dissect the sequel that almost wasn't, and most wish never was. And be sure to join us when we review the upcoming sequel Ghostbusters Afterlife. Ghostbusters 2 (1989) (?/10, ?/10, ?/10) CLICK ABOVE TO LISTEN NOW! Subscribe to Binge Cast on iTunes

Join myself, Matt, and the returning Logan James to help answer the call of just how good a franchise Ghostbusters is. Taking cues from a childhood spent fascinated by the occult and all things paranormal, Dan Aykroyd had an idea. He would cast his friends Eddie Murphy and John Belushi as ghost smashers, and they would take a massive script and turn it into an algorithm of all his ideas. But Belushi died, and Murphy was unavailable. So Harold Ramis came in, lightened up the script immensely, and suggested the casting of his friend Bill Murray in the Belushi role. Low and behold, Ghostbusters comes out, is a massive success, and all the chances they took paid off. So how'd it come to be? And is it as good as its reputation? Matt and myself welcome new dad Logan James back to the Aftertaste airwaves as we answer these and many more questions associated with the original seminal 1984 classic, Ghostbusters. Marvel has certainly won some people over with their onscreen versions of the very popular Spider-Man character. However, in 2018, Sony came down the pike with not only one of the best received Spider-Man movies ever made, it also gathered a Best Animated Feature Oscar at the Academy Awards. Two and a half months ago, myself, Matt, and Logan recorded an epic podcast reviewing and dissecting Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse and Spider-Man Far From Home. I have finally dusted the file off and put it in the Aftertaste lexicon. So after all that waiting, was it worth it? I'm not going to answer that question for you but I will say this. Something happens in this podcast which has NEVER happened since we started doing the retrospective shows. What is it? Listen below to find out!
