*TW - Suicide and self harm This week's guest is the parent of a 17-year-old transgender boy. She talks about how it felt to support her son as they came to the realisation that their assigned gender did not match who they knew themselves to be. She describes how difficult it was for her son despite her family's acceptance and support of his decision, compared to other teenagers she knows of who have not been supported by their families. I ask her why she thinks some parents don't accept their children's LGBTQIA+ feelings. Heidi told me the hardest part of her son's transgender journey was their decision to change their name. She says she went through a period of mourning for the daughter she gave birth to. We talk about how difficult it can be as parents to allow our children to determine for themselves who they're going to be, without trying to influence them. She gives some insight into what age she thinks is best for a teenager to undertake surgical transition, the controversy around puberty blockers and how normal gender and sexuality changes are to our own teenagers' generation.Heidi also talks about her own teenagers years growing up with undiagnosed bipolar, and how easy it was to miss amongst all the teenage hormones. Who is Heidi L Gross? Heidi published her first personal and heartfelt work, Embracing Love: A Parent's Guide to Nurturing and Celebrating LGBTQ+ Identity. Inspired by her journey as the mother of a transgender son, the book aims to support parents who are navigating similar experiences, offering them insight, compassion, and guidance. CELEBRATING JASPER HAIGHJasper Haigh was a lively and troubled seventeen year old when he drove his car through an intersection in Geelong in 1987, dying soon after. His older brother Gideon - compartmentalising his shock and grief - grew up to be an esteemed writer. He has published more than fifty books and contributed to more than a hundred newspapers and magazines in a decades-long journalism career. His cricket books include The Cricket War, The Summer Game and On Warne, and he has written on subjects from abortion, asbestos and architecture to incest and HV Evatt. The Office: A Hardworking History won the NSW Premier's Literary Award for Non-Fiction, and Certain Admissions won a Ned Kelly Prize for true crime. 37 years after Jasper's death Gideon found he was unable to keep his internal tumult at bay any longer, sitting down to write about Jasper in a 72-hour burst. This week I share with you some insight into my Grief journey. I share because I truly believe it's important that we heal out loud to help even just one person who might be stuck struggling in what we've made it through or are navigating currently.  If there was anything I shared that resonated with you, please leave a like, review, and share with your frenz. This all helps get the podcast out there for those who may need to hear this too!  And remember, there will be times when we feel like we've fallen back a few steps, or we feel like we're regressing in our healing, or our actions aren't aligned with our words 100% of the time. These things will come up. Situations arise to show us how we can meet ourselves with more compassion and give whatever version of ourselves that is hurting what it needs. No, you shouldn't give up. Yes, healing IS possible for you. No, you aren't broken. Yes, you are worth the effort. And another thing, it's perfectly okay to take a break from actively looking at and healing every little thing. Rest and integration are so important and, honestly, non-negotiable to our true healing journey. So be kind with yourself, don't compare yourself to someone else's journey and "success", and keep in mind that perfection isn't relatable. Be you. On August 5, 1944, the Cowra breakout marked a significant event in Australian military history. Over 1,100 Japanese prisoners of war attempted to escape from the prisoner of war camp in Cowra, New South Wales, resulting in the largest prison break in Australian history. The breakout led to a violent confrontation between the prisoners and Australian guards, resulting in the deaths of 231 Japanese prisoners and four Australian soldiers, with many more wounded. The incident highlighted the challenges of managing prisoners of war during wartime and left a lasting impact on both Australian and Japanese societies. Glenn worshiped the ground Lynn walked on, doted on her hand and foot, and loved her with all his heart. Lynn cheated on Glenn, was abusive and controlling, and spent all their money. Glenn's family did not know why Glenn was with Lynn, and they were never able to see him free of her, because he passed after suffering from flu-like symptoms.Lynn moved in with Randy Thompson. Randy and Lynn had two children together, but their relationship was far from healthy, to the point that a judge even told them to stay away from each other. But they couldn't bring themselves to cut each other out of their lives, that is, until Randy suffered flu-like symptoms and passed away. Sounds suspicious, right? Known for her hugely captivating story, writer, social media influencer and self titled 'Scammer' Caroline Calloway doesn't shy away from being controversial. Caroline started to build her online presence between 2013 and 2016, documenting her experience during her time at Cambridge university after dropping out of New York University. She rose to fame creating an Instagram following who were given ‘exclusive access' into the life of Caroline Calloway and her adventures. However, whilst she gained significant traction and a dedicated fan base which gave her followers a real insight into her life, she faced criticism for her often inconsistent accounts and stories. It was later revealed that alongside forging her place at Cambridge with fraudulent results, she had bought Instagram followers before building an actual audience online. In 2019, Caroline promised a memoir “And We Were Like: A Memoir” as part of a $500,000 book deal on the back of her internet popularity but the book never transpired, landing her in $100,000 of debt to the publisher. It was later alleged in a damning article published in 2019 by her university friend Natalie Beach that she was the brains behind the famous Instagram, revealing the apparent truth behind the book deal and uncovering Caroline's adderall addiction. Just two days after the article was published, Caroline was told that her father had been found dead from suicide. Fast forwarding to present life, Caroline has now published her memoir “Scammer” giving a tell-all take into her life and answers some of the questions that are left from her controversies.Positioning herself as the scammer, Caroline has used this to gain significant fame but how true is this? This episode gets behind the Instagram profile, looking into ‘who actually is Caroline Calloway?' From following a similar path to me in attending an Oxbridge University and building a following at the same time to where our paths divided and how it went so horribly wrong. This episode cross examines her one-of-a-kind story as I try to work out the real story and whether she really is a scam artist at all. I'm so excited to introduce you to Jenni Conn today! I was on her podcast last year and I wanted to have her on Spirit School for quite a few reasons. Jenni is a psychic medium, a spiritual mentor, and the host of The Medium Experience podcast. She's a lover of champagne and all the beauty that this world has to offer. Jenni has been a student of mine for a while, and has done some incredible development over the past few years including going to the UK. I admire her confidence, how she shows up in the world, and I just think that she is a fantastic human being. Jenni is giving and generous in all the different spaces she occupies, and I thought Spirit School listeners would resonate with her. Our inner world experience is different from how other people experience us and Jenni shares how astrology can help us to understand the nuances of that.  Jenni loves psychology and uses her mediumship abilities strongly with the connection to inner child and the heart chakra. In this episode, she shares how her personal challenges have influenced how she is able to help her clients through their own inner child and emotional healing processes. She also hosts retreats where people are invited to do this deep work in a luxurious environment that reflects her champagne taste.  TW: Suicide conversation; personal story and in the context of mediumship Connect with Jenni Instagram: @themediumexperience Website: https://themediumexperience.com/ The Medium Experience Podcast Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6nfuHEWepMw57zigcFE5SM?si=28ac9366d5ce4616 Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-medium-experience/id1624904694  Spirit School Links Spirit School Collective: https://www.squamishmedium.com/spiritschoolcollective Join us on the FREE Spirit School platform: https://myspiritschoolcollective.com/plans/ Trauma Informed Lightworker Waitlist: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/6398f03888aca7e15696b1fa Visit Spirit School at https://www.squamishmedium.com/ for all courses and upcoming programs View full transcripts of podcast episodes at https://www.squamishmedium.com/blog   In this episode: Jenni uses her mediumship abilities with the connection to inner child and the heart chakra As a Cancer sun, she wants to soothe the inner child wound in others when it comes up Jenni recognized that she needed to take radical responsibility for her inner child healing Her psychic and mediumship gifts opened up when she started doing this work I had a powerful experience sitting with my inner child to heal my stage fright wound Jenni believes that our astrological sun sign is our highest self we evolve into Our rising sign is our egoic behaviour and our moon is our inner child Knowing the needs of each voice helps you manage your life easier Though she didn't have an awareness of it, Jenni had psychic abilities at a young age She has an inner knowing when people lie, partly from past trauma Her psychic abilities kicked off when she was a hairstylist and was touching people Jenni learned that her intuition had been correct when she learned on infidelities in her marriage She learned to trust herself and her body through clairsentience Both of us have thrived in our masculine and are leaning into femininity Jenni surprised herself by doing a 365 day reels challenge despite the feminine being chaotic Mediumship is a medium that can be used many ways like a pencil so it can't be compared Jenni uses hers to bring wisdom from the higher self rather than evidential mediumship  Even inspirational mediumship has an important role in advancing us as humans Not everyone is meant to be on TV at the highest capacity in mediumship Historically, mediumship is based on an external force rather than the wisdom within us Jenni believes that sharing what was not expressed in life is more healing than evidence A teacher's views on suicide and Indigenous Spirits are partly why Jenni did minimal training Cancer is ruled by the moon and reflects the light of others, so Cancers impact people Fear-based teachers can have toxic and harmful beliefs  Jenni channels astrology information that is often validated by astrologists When she experiences hardships, they allow her to help clients experiencing the same You receive a lot more information from people who influence you when you're psychic We have alter egos that come out in social situations to be seen (Leo) or mysterious (Scorpio) Jenni hosted the Je Vois retreat (I see) a 4 day, 360 degree view of your life She plans events through the lens of a woman who doesn't know anyone Each day starts with education, then integration and celebration to keep from being too heavy Je Vois is a combination of deep hard work and luxury The topics for the days are inner child, align body and soul, and ascend to connect with Spirit Jenni is collaborating with Renata for the next step, Je Crée, which is I Create Themes are confess your truth, commit to rewriting the contract, and conquer the outer expression Champagne is part of Jenni's brand and she sent two bottles for 2 years of the Collective

Next, the duo discusses the difficult task of self-actualization and what it means to find your “why” even on days you feel like you can't go on. Bradley then lets the Sloots in on an exercise that changed his life by speaking to and healing his inner child. Things are gonna get a little wild so if you're around a parent, maybe put your headphones on around the halfway mark…unless they could use some pointers too? Help is always available. If you or anyone you know is dealing with suicidal ideation or emotional distress please dial the Suicide and Crisis Hotline at 988, available 24/7.
