When she returns to Brusco's ,in addition to the day's takings, she has a nice pair of boots. She visits the House of Black and White, as she does at every new moon, and learns some poison-lore from the Waif. Send us a Text Message.Arya acts as a servant in the House of Black and White. Despite her claims, she still can't shake her identity as Arya Stark. She decides to shed her worldly possessions, all except Needle, earning her a promotion to acolyte. Armed with a smattering of Braavosi, she's next to go out into the city and sell seafood. Mackelly and Simon ask for a menu.Chapter Review:Arya Stark is settling into life as a servant in the House of Black and White. When asked by the Kindly Man who she is, Arya dutifully says “no one.” Invariably, the Kindly Man says she lies. The Kindly Man tells her she doesn't have to stay here. He can place her in other environments she'd find more suitable or put her on a ship back to Westeros. Arya is insistent she wants to remain in the House of Black and White. One day the Kindly Man tells her she must rid herself of her worldly possessions, as they belong to Arya of House Stark. That night, Arya takes them all to the canal and throws them in. She hesitates when it's time to toss Needle. She thinks of the remarkable twist of fate that brought the sword back to her after it had been stolen, and decides that the Old Gods wanted her to have it. Therefore, she hides it under a cobblestone outside of the temple.Although she never told the Kindly Man of her actions, he seemed to know. The next day he tells her the history of the religion of the Many-Faced God. She's then given the robes of an acolyte. He also tasks Arya with learning Braavosi and teaching the Waif the Common Tongue. The pair practice by showing each other items and saying the word. In an attempt to help Arya lie better, the pair begin playing a lying game. The Waif seems to know when Arya is lying, but Arya just guesses. Eventually, the Kindly Man feels that Arya's grasp of Braavosi is good enough for her to go out into the city. She will sell seafood for a man, but she needs a new name. They decide on Cat. With that, Arya exits the temple into the Braavosi night, as happy as she's been for a long time.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Arya Stark - Younger daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Kindly Man - Priest of the Many-Faced God.Waif - Priestess of the Many-Faced God.Braavos - A free city of Braavos in Essos.Multi-Faced God - A god worshiped in Essos that embodies Support the Show.Support us: Buy us a Cup of Arbor Gold, or become a sustainer and receive cool perks Donate to our cause Use our exclusive URL for a free 30-day trial of Audible Buy or gift Marriott Bonvoy points through our affiliate link Rate and review us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, podchaser.com, and elsewhere.Find us on social media: Discord Twitter @GhostsHarrenhal Facebook Instagram YouTube All Music credits to Ross Bugden:INSTAGRAM! : https://instagram.com/rossbugden/ (rossbugden) TWITTER! : https://twitter.com/RossBugden (@rossbugden) YOUTUBE! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kthxycmF25M

Arya arrives in Braavos. Inside the temple of the Many-Faced God, she meets a man who isn't fooled by her aliases. He tests her on her fear of death, and she passes with flying colors. She hopes to feed a hunger, but it's not for food. Mackelly and Simon wonder what it is she's hungry for.Chapter Review:Arya Stark, or “Salty” as she's known by the ship's crew, sees the lights of Braavos on the eastern horizon. Soon the enormous titan statue that guards the city comes into view. As her ship The Titans Daughter passes underneath, she can see the defenses built into the titan. The ship's captain Ternesio Terys is all too happy to get rid of Arya, and has his oldest son Yorko row her to land. However, before he lets her go, Ternesio makes sure she knows his name and is aware of the favors he's done for her.Yorko provides a comprehensive, if slightly biased, guided tour as he rows her through the canals of Braavos. He leaves her at the stairs to the temple of the Many-Faced God. Arya tries the doors of the temple but they're locked. She shouts that Jaqen H'ghar sent her, brandishes the iron coin he gave her, and says “valar morghulis.” The doors suddenly open on their own. Inside, she finds statues to many gods as well as several people weeping quietly. A man sits by a pool weeping. Arya gives him a cup of water from the pool and he drinks it. He stands and staggers to an alcove between the statues. Arya notices a stab wound in his gut. She's met by a young girl and a man, both in cowed robes. The man asks Arya her name. She tries several of her aliases, but the man isn't fooled. It's only when she says she's Arya Stark of Winterfell that the man is content. He says this is no place for her, but she begs him. She has nowhere to go. He asks if she fears death. When Arya says she doesn't, the man lowers his hood to reveal a skull with a worm in the eye socket. He asks for a kiss, and Arya obliges. She then tries to eat the worm. It disintegrates and the skull turns into the face of a kind man. He asks if she's hungry. She thinks that she is, but it's not for food.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Arya Stark - Younger daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Braavos - A free city in Essos.Titan of Braavos - Huge statue that guards the sea entrance to Braavos.Multi-Faced God - A god worshiped in Essos. The sideplots continue with Season 6, Episode 7, "The Broken Man." This episode is special for a variety of different reasons, but namely, because it features the return of a fan favorite character who was previously thought dead by many, Sandor "The Hound" Clegane. The episode chronicles his stay with a small commune of Riverland civilians led by the charismatic Brother Ray, portrayed in a guest spot by Deadwood's Ian McShane, and shows the Hound returning to the fold by refusing to remain broken and helpless as the forces that be continue to terrorize the innocents of the realm. In the North, Jon & Sansa continue their recruitment of their allies to take back Winterfell, but find more opposed to them than previously thought, forcing Sansa to make a desperate move. In King's Landing, Margaery begs Olenna to remove herself from harm's way, while Cersei attempts to make amends, only for Olenna to throw it back at her face. Jaime arrives at Riverrun to treat with the Blackfish, but finds him to be not at all hospitable. Theon & Yara stop off for a quick drink and a pep talk. Arya struts her way down the docks of Braavos, throwing gold ay any sailor willing to take her home, and then seems surprised when the Waif pops out of nowhere and stabs her, but the grace of the Many Faced God allows her to magically survive. News Corp's TV writers Sam Clench, Wenlei Ma and Daily Telegraph GoT nut Leigh Van Den Broeke discuss episode 5 of series 6 in which gentle giant Hodor meets his end, Arya Stark gets a second chance to prove herself to the Many Faced God, a new leader of the Iron Isles is chosen and Bran discovers the history of the White Walkers.
Warning: Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 5 follow... Alas, another season of Game of Thrones has come to a close, and this time all fans are left equally in the dark about what's to come next, as the books have now caught up with the HBO series. Joshua Yehl, Roth Cornet, and Eric Goldman join together once again for an epic season overview episode of Dragons on the Wall. First, we touch on the fallout of the events in Meereen, from there we move onto Stannis decline and if he is or is not lost to us, which brings us to Brienne and Pod and where they may be headed from here, from there we move onto the events at King's Landing including Cersei and the High Sparrow, then it's on to Dorne, Jon Snow and The Wall and the question of if he's truly lost to us, from there we move to Arya and the Many Faced God, and Winterfell. Finally, we talk about some general questions, including the lack of Bran and Hodor this season and how we feel that effected the overall story. [Downton Gabby Off-Season 4] - The Damsels are still on the "Game of Thrones" bandwagon (despite the several public defections) as we talk about the season finale: Jon Snow's really bad day (or is he?), Cersei's epic Walk of Shame, and Arya gettin' stabby with it at the brothel. Why is the girl aggrieved? Maybe it's because this season's GoT had not a single Lady Director. Just a theory. We continue our Fellowes Film Festival with the Julian-penned "The Young Victoria," a feminist-approved historical romance which had us scrambling to the Wikipedia English Royalty entries so we could get all the first cousins straight. Plus all the Downton news and updates you know you want (Lord Grantham in a leisure suit, anyone?) So grab a drink from the Many-Faced-God (actually, don't) an join us for this rowdy episode of Downton Gabby Off-Season.
