Part 2. Divinity, Eternal, Fatherly, Good An opinion poll in Britain found that around two-thirds of the population claimed to ‘believe in God'. To understand the significance of this fact, further questions should have been asked: ‘which god?'; and, ‘what sort of god?' The first was necessary because of the influx of immigrants with other religions. The second was necessary because even among Christians opinions vary about the kind of God they worship. While David was preparing this series of sermons on God's multifaceted character, he hit on the idea of linking divine attributes to the letters of the alphabet, hoping thereby to make it easier for his listeners to remember them. All went well until the letter ‘X'. Whether this was dealt with satisfactorily you can to decide.
We have come to the final turn in our story of Genesis. We've been on quite a journey. We have seen how God has been faithful to three generations of Abraham's family, and now we turn the corner to see how the story of Genesis concludes. At first glance, it would seem that now we are going to look at the life of Joseph as the main character going forward, but that would be a mistake. For sure, Joseph is going to be featured prominently in the chapters to follow, but the story really is about three men, not one. By keeping that fact in mind, we are going to have a much better idea why God includes the details that He does in the upcoming chapters. Today, we are going to take an overview of the section ahead of us, and because it is Father's Day, we are going to look at it through the lens of three fathers, Jacob, Judah, and Joseph. They are going to compare and contrast in general, and we will see deeper details as we much through in the coming weeks. We are going to look at two points today that while addressing fathers in particular are nonetheless applicable to everyone. Fathers have a deep impact on their children yet Our impact is not beyond God's mercy and control.
B"H We often talk about motherly love, but what about fatherly love? It's not just about affection. It's about guidance, mentorship, and helping us grow into our potential. Just like a father encourages his child to rise, build, and contribute—so too does God guide us with love and purpose. Both motherly and fatherly love shape who we become. We need both.

God is Our Father is in a number of different senses. The most important way in which He is Our Father is that He created us in His image and we are His children by grace. We may come to a deeper understanding of what this means through an examination of the life of St. Germaine and the special devotion she showed toward God the Father.
How should we respond to the hardships of God's discipline? I. Help the weary and wounded, vv12-13. II. Pursue harmony and holiness, v14. III. Don't miss grace or grow bitter, v15. IV. Flee immorality and idolatry, vv16-17.
What does it truly mean to worship God? In this message, Andy unpacks Romans 12:1-2 and challenges our modern view of worship. Worship isn't just songs, music or emotions—it's presenting our whole lives to God as a living sacrifice. From the mess of our lives to the depths of our pain, God calls us to the altar—not to shame us, but to transform us.“Bring your mess to the altar.” Why? Because whoever touches Jesus' altar can become holy. (Exodus 29:37We explore:- Why God takes a Fatherly pleasure in you, even in your imperfections- The danger and beauty of the altar- How repentance is more than a guilty feeling—it's the gateway to a transformed mind- Why many of us resist God's altar despite needing to let go of our junk

In this episode, NBN host Hollay Ghadery speaks with Kern Carter about his acclaimed YA novel, Boys and Girls Screaming (Dancing Cat Books, 2022). About the book: When Ever's father passes away suddenly, she is devastated. Not long after that, her mom has a stroke and Ever's anguish becomes almost too much for her to handle. That's when she gets the idea to form a group she calls Boys and Girls Screaming. Along with her brother, Jericho, and her best friend, Candace, Ever wants to bring together kids from their school who have suffered trauma so they can share their stories and begin to heal. Although the other teens find solace in the group, Ever tumbles further into depression until she reaches a breaking point. Growing up, I never heard my dad say he was proud of me. It's just something his generation didn't do.One day, when I was in my twenties, I was astonished when, from the pulpit, my dad mentioned how proud he was of me. Six months later, he passed away. I'm so thankful I heard those life-giving words directly from him. But I realize now that I need to lean on my Heavenly Father to help me overcome my deep insecurities. Don't forget to give your son verbal affirmation. But more importantly, make sure you tell him about the only One who can affirm him deep in his soul– Jesus Christ. Teaching on Hebrews 12:3-11
My newsletter: https://thelongstory.substack.com/ The Dispatch was launched in 2020 with a pretty straightforward thesis: that people would pay for quality, fact-based journalism. It certainly had a partisan lean – it was co-founded by conservative journalists Jonah Goldberg and Steve Hayes after all – but it steered clear of the wholesale rejection of reality that's rampant in most pro-Trump media. Flash forward to 2025, and that thesis has been vindicated. It recently crossed 45,000 paid subscribers without the help of huge VC investors. Now, it plans to diversify its revenue streams, and to accomplish that it brought on Mike Rothman, a longtime media veteran who helped build companies like Thrillist and Fatherly. In a recent interview, Mike walked through his decision to join The Dispatch, what kind of advertising he wants to sell, and why brands are suddenly interested again in sponsoring politics media.

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com You know what it takes to be a fully developed woman who is balanced and full of life… who knows her worth and is a creation of beauty… It takes a Dad. We need fathers… but more than ever women and girls in todays world need them the most. We have seen a turning in the USA over the last 30 years where women have increasingly become bitter towards men… and for many good reasons… but we must not forget that our understanding of who God is comes from the Father in heaven. We have a hard time relating to a heavenly father if we had a crappy father or worse yet no father. Yes men need fathers… but they can still navigate life a little more balanced because they have the MAN DNA in them… I know this can sound weird.. and there is no science behind this that I can put my finger on… but I think you know what I mean. Boys want to be men when growing up… even if they don't have a father in the house. Girls growing up want a father who will be a man and teach them how they should be treated and loved. Here are five biblical reasons why a young woman need a father or father figure in her life: Protection and Guidance: The Bible emphasizes the role of fathers as protectors and guides for their daughters (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). A father's presence can provide a sense of security and offer wise counsel as a young woman navigates life's challenges. And what happens when a young girl does not have this… she has a tendency to try to be her own woman and protect herself and guide herself… and nothing wrong with that but the danger is the enemy can turn that into a foundation of bitterness and not freedom. She can begin to despise men because she has had to do that job on her own… she was ripped off by not having a dad and a deep seated bitterness can develop… and a deep distrust of men… then that trait pushes men away from her and it retreats a cycle of rejection. Identity and Self-Worth: A father's love and affirmation play a crucial role in shaping a daughter's sense of identity and self-worth. Seeing herself as cherished and valued by her father can have a profound impact on her emotional well-being and future relationships. Setting Boundaries and Discipline: The Bible encourages fathers to provide discipline and guidance with love and firmness (Proverbs 13:24 A refusal to correct is a refusal to love; love your children by disciplining them.). This helps a young woman develop self-control, make wise choices, and understand the consequences of her actions. A father loves his daughter and in doing so teaches her boundaries… You are to love a man who has your best interest in mind and not just your body. Role Modeling: A father's example can significantly influence a daughter's understanding of healthy relationships and appropriate behavior. Observing a father's love for his wife and his commitment to his family can provide valuable lessons about respect, commitment, and faithfulness. Spiritual Growth: Fathers are called to be spiritual leaders in their homes, teaching their children about God and His Word (Deuteronomy 6:7). A father's involvement in his daughter's spiritual development can help her build a strong foundation of faith and a lifelong relationship with God. One of the hardest things for my wife to reconnect with when she became a Christian was to see God as a father. She had horrible father's growing up… She told me once early in our marriage I don't want God as a father I just want him as God. We laugh about it now… but it showed the hurt she had been exposed to by her fathers… So if you are a man… maybe the best thing you can do is be that Fatherly example to a young woman who needs to see what a Godly father looks like. And if you are a young woman who feels like the world is telling you that you have been slighted by men… don't believe the lie. Men of God are amazing… just like Our Father in heaven.

Send us a textUnderstanding the Book of ProverbsThe Book of Proverbs is one of the most treasured pieces of wisdom literature in the Bible. Known for its concise sayings and memorable instructions, Proverbs offers wisdom for daily living and emphasizes the fear of the Lord as the foundation of knowledge. Preaching through the Book of Proverbs expositionally presents many unique challenges. The book's structure, thematic and literary diversity, and focus on practical wisdom create an interesting yet complex struggle for preachers. Expositional preaching aims to faithfully convey the author's original intent in a passage while making it applicable to the congregation. This episode provides a framework for expositional preaching through the Book of Proverbs, addressing key considerations such as structure, themes, literary style, and application.1.
