Hi! Last Super Dimension Fortress Macross episode! It's been a long road, huh? It's the first episode without a direct comparison! It's also the first episode without an indirect comparison because there's nothing really going on with Codename Robotech other than me making fun of Carl Macek's bad commentary. So we're mostly just talking about the movie! Love it (Manny) or Hate it (Me) we can all agree that Hothead Henry is a better narrator the the normal guy. I hope you all appreciate the work that went into adding the bad commentary into this episode. I even went ahead and deleted like 300 of Macek's "uh's" so that the excerpt would be 2 minutes and not 40. What's that? You don't appreciate me making you listen to Carl Macek? Well, uh, okay. This is a love story, or an indictment against capitalism. Either one of those things. So let's talk big robots. We know them and we love them, and we want to destroy monsters with them. What is your favorite? I don't care, I am going to tell you about my favorites. I love Voltron. C'mon, five lions that make a big robot. Love it! From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend, the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe. A mighty robot, loved by good, feared by evil. As Voltron's legend grew, peace settled across the galaxy. On planet Earth, a galaxy alliance was formed. Together with the good planets of the solar system, they maintained peace throughout the universe. Until a new horrible menace threatened the galaxy. Voltron was needed once more. This is the story of the super force of space explorers, specially trained, and sent by the alliance, to bring back Voltron: Defender of the Universe. I love Robotech. Big mech robots, transforming vehicles, focus on the individual characters. Fantastic. But we could do without Minmei. But besides that, awesome-sauce. Give me a veritech and cyclone any day of the week. We all see this is a real call to the Iron Giant. You know this movie....during the Cold War a big iron robot falls from space and crashes into a forest, then it becomes best friends with a boy. This movie will break you, guaranteed. The Terminator franchise started with a simple story about an assassin sent back in time from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Conners. From there, it became a real cultural icon. Can we just imagine if we combined Laura with a terminator. That would be awesome. Then of course there is the Transformers. They are more than meets the eye. They are the team of robots that we ran home to watch when we were kids. They are the toys that we begged our parents for. They are the statutes that we now spend big bucks for. Shamus and Nick discuss how Minmei has let fame go to her head on episodes 15 and 16 of Robotech, Homecoming and Battle Cry. Kyle is way too edgy about peace, the Earth Government might be hiding a war, and the narrator puts in overtime.

Shamus and Nick discover Sammie's secret backstory on episodes 13 and 14 of Robotech, Blue Wind and Gloval's Report. Minmei has a secret rap career, the Lisa and Gloval friendship is the best, and Nick discovers The Women of Robotech.

Shamus and Nick are out of the bowels of SDF-1 and watch episodes 5 and 6 of Robotech, Transformation and Blitzkrieg. Rick goes full Biz Markie, Dr. Lang experiments with potatoes, and a possible continuity error makes Minmei all the more endearing.

Shamus and Nick dive right into episodes 3 and 4 of Robotech, Space Fold and The Long Wait. Lisa is still mad at everyone, Minmei has a way deeper character than even Shamus ever realized, and Beaker joins the SDF-1?!

This is the last episode from 2007! Episode 12 tackles yet another fan classic and we hope we can do it any sort of justice. Hosts: Drew Sutton, Richard Hoelsher, Jason Brown and Marc Smazik. We review Superdimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remmeber Love? (1984). Now, for most people, they'll stop there and listen because they know what's up. For those that may not know what it up, beware because THERE IS NO ANIME THAT IS AS GOOD AS THIS FILM. It is a film that speaks on more than a thematic level but a film that encompasses an entire generation of otaku and fanboys and what promise Japanese animation had back then. It is also a crying shame crime that this film is NOT available domestically in North America because of legal issues both in the United States and Japan. So, beg, borrow and steal to watch this movie and then when you sit down to watch the next episode of Toradora or whatever flavor of Moe Moe~ Paradise is running, you should be asking yourselves what Drew does with every new season preview article: What the fuck happened, Japan? Also, what's a Macross review without considering the most important decision in anime ever: Misa or Minmei?
