Nicolá Cruz is a master of meaningful engagement. Whether he's studying North African melodies or spiritual chants, he shows profound respect for a given sound's cultural context. This is evident across his entire discography. His earliest releases on Multi Culti and ZZK Records layerered traditional woodwinds and percussion with folktronica and tribal house, reflecting a holistic understanding of global rhythms. His more recent work takes an adventurous, polyglot approach to club music, with EPs on Highlife, Rhythm Section and Tra Tra Trax exploring breaks, acid and other spirally sounds. But even his deep, drum-heavy techno cuts feel unusually organic, vibrant polyrhythms bursting with character. For his RA Podcast, the Ecuador-based producer shows off his rave education. This display of futuristic chuggers and electro—Marcela Dias Sindaco's "A Flor Da Pele" is a particular highlight—speaks to Cruz's deep appreciation for body music. He treats dance floor jams with the same nuance as culturally significant sounds, a testament to his versatility, knowledge and experience. There are very few as innovative and humble as Sascha Funke, a revered producer, disc jockey and all round gentleman. Since 1999 he has helped push electronic music forwards in more ways than he is perhaps accredited for. Releases on the likes of Kompakt, BPitch and Cadeux helped establish him as a reckonable force amidst a time in which dance music underwent an interesting transitional spell. His sound has evolved with age: exploring the roots between experimental electronics, minimal, house and ambient he has established himself as a figurehead for respectability and his recent output has continued to demonstrate this as such. Last year marked the release of a new album on Endless Flight and followed on from EP's on Multi Culti and Turbo. We are delighted to be able to feature him as part of our mix series, a warm favourite amidst the Ransom Note gang

Based in Osaka, Japan, Ground is an artist that started his way by mixing records since his teenage days and got into production later on. Having released music on Correspondant, Multi Culti, Clouded Vision, Throne of Blood and many others including some very memorable remixes - Jo Howard has already established himself as a go to guy for quality leftfield dance music. Most recent contribution to the ever growing world of electronic music is the label Sulk Magic that has so far managed to show us how many talented producers are there to discover. Jo takes over our show this month for an hour straight after this months selection of music from our friends, history and an ocean of talented guys out there.

Multi Culti is full of life, an elaborate project which has sky rocketed, blossoming with musical heritage and a new wave of artists. Red Axes, Clarian, Auntie Flo, Nicola Cruz, Manfredas and many more have all appeared on the imprint. Thomas von Party and Dreems first founded the record label back in 2013, unaware of the course it might take. The two are both independent producers and dj's in their own right, however, together they offer something else entirely. We are delighted to be able to welcome the pair to contribute to our Ransom Note mix series, a duo who need very little introduction.

Well known in his home country - Lithuania, this person has been making people talk about his performances and events for more than 10 years already. Currently a resident in the best nightclub in Lithuania - Opium, well known around the world for it’s parties, hosting his latest club night - Smala. And last but not least, conquering hearts of DJs worldwide with his productions embellishing Ivan Smagghe’s label Les Disques De La Mort and Thomas Von Party’s label Multi Culti. Having already remixed Moscoman, C.A.R., Headman and Red Axes the only bad thing is that he does not spend enough time in the studio to create more. It is of course Manfredas.

As one of the leading figures behind Multi Culti and Turbo Recordings, Thomas Von Party finds himself in a rather envious position. As a DJ he has played a significant and important role in the Montreal club scene, in 2014 he opened a club, Datcha, which has since gone on to find critical acclaim for its diverse music policy and its cultural benefits to the city. In 2013 he co founded the Multi Culti label alongside Dreems, it is set to release a compilation series titled 'Sun Gaze / Moon Faze' which features a great breadth of music from artists including Moscoman, Manfredas, Kris Baha and more. Von Party himself will also feature having recently begun to dabble in the world of production following an extensive and formative number of years spent DJ'ing around the world.
