Meditation through music and video with Rayko: SPECIAL Timing Note: We originally recorded this episode in October 2021. Thank you in advance as we catch up on episode releases since our host, Scott Mulvaney, started returning from his time off to finish writing and self-publishing his inspirational first book, "So You Want To Be A Hotshot" on Amazon. Rayko An “Emotional Conduit”, Rayko is a prolific songwriter and an energetic, sought- after vocalist Rayko composed the melodies for Gratitude and sang, played on and produced all pieces as well. Her compositions often contain themes of social justice, female perspectives and cross-cultural challenge. Born in Tokyo, Rayko also composed, arranged and performed songs for the award-winning Amazon Prime series, “Man In the High Castle.” Her other compositions include “Reaching For The Stars” and “Behind The Sun”—co-written with Grammy winner Isha Erskine, as well as the ending theme for the feature “The Wolves of Saving Hill”— featuring Kurt Fuller of “Pursuit of Happyness,” and the late Michael Massee of Spider-Man 2. Rayko is the vocalist in the house band of a popular Adult Swim show, and currently the voice of a brand new ride in Tokyo Disneyland. Frank Inspired by a recent trip down the Nile River to “The Birthplace of Civilization”, songwriter Frank Kilpatrick created Gratitude to, “Draw attention to everything we have to be thankful for.“ Frank created lyrics for all songs in the Gratitude suite and oversaw video and music production. He has written numerous songs in exploratory, harmonic and romantic genres that are available for licensing. Recently, he created “Stay Alive” – a 90-minute Suicide Prevention video podcast. Frank frequently collaborates with: Billy Hinsche – best known for his 30+ year touring role with The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson; co-Founder of Dino, Desi and Billy; and singer and/or songwriting contributor to the recordings of Elton John and Chicago and Scott Paige – best known for his work with the international traveling bands for Pink Floyd, Toto and Supertramp, as well as others. What we do in our gratitude videos that we've talked about, is we have encompassed some of that, let's call it strategy. We don't take the technical approach to it, you don't have to understand what binaural beats are to appreciate what we've done. 06:00 - We've encompassed some of that in our gratitude videos, because we find that it's more engaging to the listener. There is something about the mind, it wants to kind of resolve that little slight difference that they hear and in the frequency, the tone. So that makes it more engaging to draw you into meditation. 10:00 - I mean, it is very, very interesting how people react to certain music and when I am getting ready to volunteer again for the convalescent homes, and the the director, the activity director that I spoke to said, those Alzheimer's patients don't remember the names or the the places...

Music composer, Rayko, (“Until We Meet Again,” The Man In the High Castle) is actively involved in lobbying efforts to pass California Assembly Bill 2764. Frank Kilpatrick & Rayko join us to discuss their Gratitude Series - A Musical Path Toward Healing, which includes songs that introduce people to meditations for gratitude. It's so important to find richness in our everyday experiences. For so many of us, meditation can be difficult as it's a challenge to slow down our thoughts and our brains, but music is a way to accomplish this more easily. We will learn more about these concepts and how these artists got inspired to collaborate on this series, and we'll get to listen to The Awakening piece of their music. Frank Kilpatrick created Gratitude to “draw attention to everything we have to be thankful for.” Frank created lyrics for all songs in the Gratitude suite and oversaw video and music production. He has written numerous songs in exploratory, harmonic and romantic genres that are available for licensing. Recently, he created “Stay Alive” – a 90-minute Suicide Prevention video podcast. An “Emotional Conduit,” Rayko is a prolific songwriter and an energetic, sought- after vocalist. Rayko composed the melodies for Gratitude and sang, played on and produced all pieces as well. Her compositions often contain themes of social justice, female perspectives and cross-cultural challenge. Rayko is the vocalist in the house band of a popular Adult Swim show, and currently the voice of a new ride in Tokyo Disneyland. Their compositions are a path to relaxation and meditation. As suicide prevention advocates Frank co-produced and Rayko appeared in the Stay Alive documentary for the purpose of helping those to find their way out of despair. Today, Tahverlee is joined by Frank Kilpatrick and Rayko. Frank and Rayko are composers, songwriters, entrepreneurs, and creators of the Gratitude Meditation podcast. They help others achieve inner peace through music meditation.Inspired by a recent trip down the Nile River to “The Birthplace of Civilization,” Frank created Gratitude Meditations to draw attention to everything we have to be thankful for. He created the lyrics for all the songs in the Gratitude suite and oversaw video and music production. Frank has written numerous pieces in exploratory, harmonic and romantic genres and recently created “Stay Alive” – a 90-minute Suicide Prevention video podcast.Rayko is an “Emotional Conduit,” a prolific songwriter, and an energetic. She composed the melodies for Gratitude and sang, played on, and produced all pieces as well. Her compositions often contain themes of social justice, female perspectives, and cross-cultural challenges. Rayko was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and grew up with a deep appreciation for classical and jazz music. As a child, she would spend hours sitting under the piano as her parents and uncle played. Their amazing journey together began a little over five years ago when Frank was looking for a vocalist for a song he wrote and found Rayko through LinkedIn. Since that time, the two have been creating and writing together almost every day. They believe it is so important to have gratitude in our hearts, especially during these trying times. There is a whole world out there that can benefit from this universal thing we call music.Frank and Rayko's inspiration for their Gratitude series is our ability to recognize the opportunity at all times, in any circumstance, to see the joy and richness in what we have instead of striving for more stuff, more money. The essence of Gratitude meditations are short mini-vacations for the mind, heart, and soul and contain music, affirmations, Rayko's singing, and visual images to take into our hearts.Frank and Rayko have recently done a public service campaign to encourage Covid vaccination and are planning more projects for their Gratitude meditation series. They are composing for their music library and are focusing on some abstract jazz pieces right now. Rakyo is also the voice of a brand-new ride at Tokyo Disneyland. They both continue to strive to create positive, meaningful change in our world.Connect with Frank and Rayko on their website at GratitudeVideo.com, on Instagram @Gratitude_Video, Facebook at Gratitude Video, Twitter @Gratitude_Video, or their YouTube Channel Gratitude Video. The Bside of... Lumberjacks In Hell 6 shows in and already our label focused series has been quite the venture. Starting in London, Rhythm Section were the first to select a member of their team to represent the label and talk us through some of their releases on the B-side, showcasing their deeper and jazzy sound. Following, we welcomed the moody house label Beats Of No Nation (Australia). Our three most recent shows saw Toy Tonics (Berlin) playing some joyful house, Haŵs (Cardiff), with their deep spacey vibe, and Pluie/Noir (Berlin), with some minimal and experimental electronica. For ep. 6 we are blessed to have Marcel Vogel take us on a guided tour of his Label - Lumberjacks in Hell. Running 11 years strong, with over 40 proud vinyl releases by the likes of Rahaan, Jamie 3:26 & Cratebug, Philou Louzolo, Giovanni Damico, Mr Mendel, Hugo H., Rayko, Boogie Nite, Eddie C, Al Kent, Inkswell, Mannmademusic, it is fair to say that Lumberjacks in Hell have cemented themselves as one of Amsterdam's finest house labels. https://soundcloud.com/marcelvogel Expect an exhibition of the label's excellent sampling & production, melancholic jazz, euphoria, deep and progressing house, and of course some insightful chat from Marcel Vogel about each selection. Listen & Subscribe on: iTunes / Stitcher / Podbean / Overcast / Spotify Contact Info Website: www.stayalivevideo.com Website: www.gratitudevideo.com Most Influential Person Rayko: My mom Effect on Emotions Frank Kilpatrick: I would say that it's something that I think of as an important tool or resource kind of like a bookshelf. It's having something that I can use to facilitate going down a different road. We wrote a song recently that we're just finishing up. It starts with the line, ‘hitting past my past on a darkened highway at a hundred miles an hour leading nowhere sharing at nothing'. If you're headed down that road, mindfulness and gratitude can give you a different turn or choice to shift your way of thinking and to shift your experiences of that day. That gives you a lot of power. Having that as a tool is a gift. Thoughts on Breathing Rayko: Breathing became a lot more important. You breath without thinking. When you're born, you're already breathing and you don't think about breathing. But when your loved ones get diagnosed with lung cancer, breathing becomes something that is right there, in front of your face. One thing that I do with my mother is something that I learned when I was studying opera for six years. You breath deeply the best way when you're laying down because your shoulders can come up. We lay down together when we're doing this breathing exercise. Don't get me wrong, my parents are amazing. When I was in elementary school in Japan, something was going on at home. I felt powerless and I took it out on other children at school. I was in the popular girl group. I was being so angry and took it out on others. I knew I was doing something wrong. I would go visit the students privately that I had bullied and say, I'm going to help you with your homework as long as you don't tell anyone. I did that for many years until I realized that I should make a change. As a child I meditated and my mom helped me through, figuring out the puzzles and putting the pieces together. Then I stopped bullying and started being there as a voice for the weak. By saving them I felt like I was saving myself.
