Endless Flight: The Life of Joseph Roth (Granta Books, 2022) travels with Roth from his childhood in the town of Brody on the eastern edge of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to an unsettled life spent roaming Europe between the wars, including spells in Vienna, Paris and Berlin. His decline mirrored the collapse of civilized Europe: in his last peripatetic decade, he opposed Nazism in exile from Germany, his wife succumbed to schizophrenia and he died an alcoholic on the eve of WWII. Exploring the role of Roth's absent father in his imaginings, his attitude to his Jewishness and his restless search for home, Keiron Pim's gripping account of Roth's chaotic life speaks powerfully to us in our era of uncertainty, refugee crises and rising ethno-nationalism. Published as Roth's works rapidly gain new readers and recognition, Endless Flight delivers a visceral yet sensitive portrait of his quest for belonging, and a riveting understanding of the brilliance and beauty of his work. Nataliya Shpylova-Saeed has a Ph.D. in Slavic languages and literatures (Indiana University, 2022).  Learn more about your ad choices. Esa is a producer, musician and DJ who has never been one to sit still. He is always working on something exciting and seems to draw strength from collaboration and the creativity of others as much as he does himself. Over the years he has released music on the likes of Highlife, Local Talk, Dekmantel, Bronswood, Endless Flight and many more – his sound evolving based upon his external influences and discoveries of late. Based in London, he is incredibly well travelled and has worked alongside a number of musicians and bands, seeking to broaden his musical horizons and draw upon the roots of the sound and cultures which have informed his tastes. As a DJ Esa is well versed, honing his craft on dancefloors in Glasgow where he held his first residency at the infamous Subculture. It is here that this mixtape was recorded, his return to the party earlier this year was a triumphant tour de force showcasing just how far Esa has come as an artist. This mixtape spans a wide variety of styles and sounds but most importantly is destined to keep you moving and dancing throughout. Sometimes live sets don't make much sense out of context, yet in this case there is something special captured in the sound which makes you feel like you are right down the front banging that old Sub Club booth.

All you need to know about this new recap episode is that Leo Sayer's "Endless Flight" is involved, which makes this particular podcast episode OUR PINNACLE ACHIEVEMENT. Plus, Len has a salty sports week while shifting blame for the Bulls to Billy Donovan. Beave dissects the up-and-down Cavs and does his best Hubie Brown impersonation. He also officially adds Brad Underwood to his Enemies List. Beave talks "Doctor Sleep" in the I Recommend section, and the guys talk multiple albums. But tune in for the genius of SAYER!

It wasn't as easy to communicate back in the 70's as it is now. At best, you could get in touch via the telephone line, but perhaps you had to resort to something more primitive strawberry letter. Perhaps the only thing you could see was the smoke from a distant fire that just seemed to float and float on. You told your love that you just want to be your everything, your handy man, your telephone man, so don't worry baby. We are just here to take it easy and sway to the music of the Billboard chart from the week ending August 27, 1977. Is there another podcast that does this same thing? He could well be described as one of the Slo Mo/ Edits/ Disco scene's heaviest hitters. In just over three years he's featured on or been the main attraction with over 25 original EPs and singles and countless remixes. Having graced labels like Jiscomusic, Endless Flight, Crue-L, Sleazy Beats, Wolf Music, 7 Inches of Love & Home Taping, amongst others, with his deep, lush and beautiful grooves, C is constantly name checked by every major playa this end of the underground. In 2011 he released his first full length album "Parts Unknown" on Endless Flight and later that year began releasing new projects on his own Red Motorbike imprint. Roll up, roll up! We are delighted to welcome a producer and disc jockey with absolutely impeccable taste. Eddie C has been a prominent figure amidst the house, disco, balearic crossover community for a long time now and has released an impressive array of music across a wide spectrum of record labels including Lumberjacks In Hell, The Very Polish Cut-Outs, 7 Inches Of Love and more. However, he has most prominently appeared on the mule musiq affiliated record label Endless Flight where he has released many albums and EP's. Eddie's style is sprawling and wild - tapping into an era and ethos of tape mixes and hip hop as much as it does dance and club focussed music. As such the albums draw upon playful samples, skits and intricate funk fuelled percussion aplenty. His new album is called "Green Space" and doesn't fail to disappoint. It offers as much in the home listening department as it does for the late night dancefloor. This mix was recorded in Japan, at the 'Good Music Party presents Rainbow Disco Club' party. It's absolute heat.

Und immer daran denken, sharing is caring!! There are very few as innovative and humble as Sascha Funke, a revered producer, disc jockey and all round gentleman. Since 1999 he has helped push electronic music forwards in more ways than he is perhaps accredited for. Releases on the likes of Kompakt, BPitch and Cadeux helped establish him as a reckonable force amidst a time in which dance music underwent an interesting transitional spell. His sound has evolved with age: exploring the roots between experimental electronics, minimal, house and ambient he has established himself as a figurehead for respectability and his recent output has continued to demonstrate this as such. Last year marked the release of a new album on Endless Flight and followed on from EP's on Multi Culti and Turbo. We are delighted to be able to feature him as part of our mix series, a warm favourite amidst the Ransom Note gang

There is a sense of purpose about the Italian duo Underspreche. Perhaps this is best demonstrated through the volume of work they have released over the last couple of years. However, what is in fact most impressive about the up and coming pair is their stature and from which camp their releases have emerged from. Last year the enigmatic duo released three independent EP's on Optimo, this is no small feat. Fast forwards to 2017 and Underspreche are back at it again having just released a new three track record on the Mule sublabel Endless Flight. The pair appear to be on a course for success, eyes peeled.

Interest in Japanese electronic music never wanes, and that is thanks to the work of producers like Gonno. As a key part of the contemporary musical landscape in the Far East, he has released on local as well as international labels like Perc Trax, Endless Flight and Ostgut Ton. He is someone who brings acid and melody to his techno and has put out fantastically realized full lengths such as 2015’s Remember The Life Is Beautiful as well as many EPs in the last decade. A regular guest at key parties in Europe as well as Japan, he recently played one such party on a Sunday afternoon. Taking place at a club near the beach called Oppala, he played for seven hours straight and managed to record the mix. Now he presented the first three hours for our podcast series. Starting with some unmistakably Japanese ambient sounds and delicate instruments, he then plots a journey through organic slow motion grooves that drip with musicality and tumble in pleasing ways. Never less than smooth and seductive, things get a little more energetic later on with more corrugated grooves, icy hi hats and bumpy beats and the whole thing makes for a rare recorded insight into the DJ side of this esteemed artist.

He has truly mastered the art of modern production, and over the years has experimented with many dance music genres through various pseudonyms, leading to a huge discography that includes releases on some of the world's finest electronic imprints. Under his massive KOLOMBO moniker he has had many solid releases and remixes on labels such as Kompakt, 2DIY4, Warung, Noir Music, Turbo, Eskimo, Future Classic, Systematic and Boxer amongst others. Consequently, he is busy touring worldwide, playing his mixture of house and disco and enjoys loyal followings in Brazil, Mexico and Russia.
