Welcome to our Mesoamerica series. We have had a lot of request for the indigenous people of this region and I have to tell you the people are amazing. So please sit back and enjoy. A Nagual, is a human capable of turning into an animal like a jaguar, eagle, hummingbird, owl, coyote, or snake. Including the metamorphosis, they are capable of performing incredible magic, cast spells, and killings. They feed from all kinds of animals but their main source of food is people's desires and fears. It is said that only the magicians and shamans can turn into Naguals through dark ceremonies that allow them to turn into a different creature and yield its power. However, not all magicians can be Naguals since Nagualism is said to be acquired at birth and needs to be cultivated. Do you identify as Indigenous not Latino? Please let us know. The term nagual, also spelled nahual, refers to the guardian spirit of some Mesoamerican Indians. In some areas the nagual is the animal into which certain powerful men can transform themselves to do evil; thus, the word derives from the Nahuatl word nahualli (“disguise”), applied to the animal forms magically assumed by sorcerers. The person who receives his nagual typically goes to an isolated spot and stays there until he awakens. According to some cultures the nagual becomes associated with a person while he is a child and the first animal to cross over the ashes of the child is his nagual. The belief in nagualism varies from region to region. In some areas it is believed that only the most powerful leaders (usually men) possess naguals. In others, all or most people have personal animal guardian spirits.Naguals are born with a strong and weak side. The traits of these animals are linked to a person's birth day. For instance, a person born on Dog Day would have both a strong and weak side of a dog. In Mexico, it is believed that a person who receives a nagual must make a pact with the devil in order to be considered as an offering. At night, this animal can transform into a wolf, dog, or a bird. The nagual is a normal person, usually male, in their physicality while in the human form. They transform into a jaguar according to some records while other say that they start displaying only a few characteristics of the sacred animal. The word nagual is derived from the word nahualli that translates to "transforming witch." In English, the term is often translated as "shape shifter." In many English writings, it is also spelt nahual.Naguals are believed to be as powerful as werewolves due to their ability to fight on equal footing. They are also considered to be the creations of the god Tezcatlipoca. Unlike werewolves, a person can easily transform into a nagual at will. However, just like humans, these creatures require special skills and mental strength to overcome their curse. Naguals typically shift when they are threatened, under immense stress, or when they are in the presence of evil although that depends on what sort of person has been cursed into a nagual.Read about the Nagual at https://mythlok.com/nagual/

In this episode we discussed: I don't think there has been a book that has changed my life more then this one. I can tell you that my kids are absolutely sick of me quoting The Four Agreements. The Four Agreements Be Impeccable with Your WordDon't Take Anything PersonallyDon't Make AssumptionsAlways do your best But before we get to the four agreements we need to understand where they come from. The Toltec Anthropologists have spoken of the Toltec as a nation or a race, but in fact, the Toltec were scientists and artists who formed a society to explore a conserve the spiritual knowledge and practices of the ancient ones.Naguals (NA'WAL) – Masters (Spirits, Witch doctors, Shaman)Forced to conceal their knowledge so it wasn't used for personal gain from those who were not prepared to use it wisely.Passed down through generations of Naguals.Veiled in secrecy for hundreds of years, but ancient prophecies foretold the coming of an age when it would be necessary to return to the people.Don Miguel Ruiz, Nagual form the Eagle Knight lineage has been guided to share the powerful teachings. IT GETS PRETTY DEEP IN THE FIRST COUPLE CHAPTERS It starts off with The Smokey Mirror which explains where the agreements come from. One of the Toltec studying to become a medicine man felt there must be something more. One day as he slept in a cave, he saw himself sleeping and came out to look at the stars.Transformed his life forever, “I am made of light; the stars are made of light” “Everything is made of light”.He called the light Tonal and the space in between the light Nagual and he knew what created harmony between the two was Life or Intent. We are all just mirrors reflecting light. Everything in existence is a manifestation of one living being we call God (Higher Power). You do not need to believe in God to see Light as a higher power.Everything we see is a reflection of light. He had a hard time explaining this to others. They could tell he changed but couldn't see the change. They started to think of him as a God, which he acknowledged, but explained “we are all God as we are reflections of each other” Everyone is a mirror. He saw himself in them, but they could not see themselves in him.Everyone is dreaming, but without awareness. They couldn't see him as themselves because they were full of fog and smoke between the mirrors. He didn't want to forget what he learned, so he called himself the Smokey Mirror. The smoke is the dream and mirror is the dreamer. Domestication and the Dream of the Planet “What you are seeing and hearing right now is nothing but a dream. You are dreaming right now in this moment. You are dreaming with the brain awake.” You can literally believe we are all dreaming, or think of it as how we are just coasting through life Society's dream – the dream of the planetThis dream is the collective of dream of billions of smaller, personal dreams These are basically life lessons or rules we have learned growing up We are born a blank slate with the capacity to dreamWe are then taught society's dream. We learn how to behave, what to believe, what not to believe, what is acceptable and not acceptable, good/bad, beautiful/ugly, right/wrong.You didn't choose what language to speak, you didn't choose your moral values. As children we didn't have the opportunity to choose our beliefs, but we agreed with the information passed down. If we don't agree, we don't store that information. As soon as we agree, we believe and that is called faith. To have faith is to believe unconditionally. That is how we learn. We become a copy of Mom and Dad, then we learn the word NO.We form a belief system “The book of law”.With out question, whatever is in the book of law, is our truth. We start to judge everybody and everything by our book of law.The Judge rules all.

It’s fall Halloween was just a few days ago and seemingly spooky things have been on everyone’s mind. So on today’s tidbit I’m going to dive into what familiar spirits are, their history in different cultures, and why you should never appropriate a different cultures terminology and understanding of them. This last little bit is the reason why I will be using the term familiar and familiar spirit throughout this tidbit as I am mostly European and it is the pan-European term for this concept. I am not going to be going into the practice of witchcraft or be discussing if familiar spirits are real or their morality. A familiar spirit is an entity, animal, plant, or other natural thing, that you form a special bond with. This connection is not a light bond but rather a bond that you feel connects you to something on a spiritual or soul level. This idea is something that exists in cultures and time periods across the world. These familiar spirits exist to guide a person, either teaching them specific magics or guiding them through person life dilemmas and through personal growth. A non-religious familiar might be a centering touchstone that someone finds comfort in because it reminds them of attributes that they share. European traditions mostly use the term familiar or familiar spirit. Native and Indigenous groups have multiple different words but English speakers typically use the word totem to describe all of them. It is important to remember that different tribes will have their own word for this concept. Totem poles are specific to the Pacific Northwest area of the continent of North America, from Alaska to Washington and British Columbia. Spirit Animal is another term used by Native tribes to describe tutelary guides. Totems are one type of spirit animal but used specifically by the Northwest Pacific tribes. However, most of the information about totems that I have just said also applies to spirits animals. In other words, spirit animal is a Native term and should be respected as a Native term. In Norse culture there exists the fylgjur plural, fylgja singular. Across Mesoamerica exists the belief in the nagual and the tonalli or tonal. Some sources will say that they nagual is related to a spirit guide, however, they are more therianthropy. In other words Naguals are shape shifting witches. Tonals, on the other hand, are familiars that are assigned at birth. Tonals are attached to the Aztec horoscope calendar and are guardian spirits. Other words for familiar in other cultures that either have very broad definitions or have characteristics that don’t fit into my tidbit today are spirit, spirit guide, doppelganger, personal demon, spirit companion, ayami and syven. Familiar spirits are deeply personal and often important both religiously and culturally for different people groups. Because of this it is insulting to use language from a culture you are not a part of casually. Unfortunately, due to colonization, most people are too comfortable using words and concepts for themselves that are not part of their cultural heritage. I would encourage everyone to research into their own ancestry and pick a term that is part of their cultural heritage.

In this compelling sequel to The Four Agreements, we are reminded of the greatest gift we can give ourselves: the freedom to be who we really are.The fifth agreement is be skeptical, but learn to listen. Be skeptical because most of what you hear isn’t true. You know that humans speak with symbols, and that symbols aren’t the truth. Symbols are only the truth because we agree, not because they are really the truth. But the second half of the agreement is learn to listen, and the reason is simple: When you learn to listen, you understand the meaning of the symbols that people are using; you understand their story, and the communication improves a lot. Then perhaps instead of all the confusion among humans who inhabit the earth, there will be clarity.Once you realize that hardly anything you know through symbols is true, then be skeptical has a much bigger meaning. Be skeptical is masterful because it uses the power of doubt to discern the truth. Whenever you hear a message from yourself, or from another artist, simply ask: Is it truth, or is it not truth? Is it reality or is it a virtual reality? The doubt takes you behind the symbols, and makes you responsible for every message you deliver and receive. Why would you want to invest your faith in any message that is not true? By being skeptical, you don’t believe every message; you don’t put your faith in symbols, and when your faith is not in symbols, your faith is in yourself. Then if faith is believing without a doubt, and doubt is not believing, be skeptical. Don’t believe. And what will you not believe? Well, you will not believe all the stories that we artists create with our knowledge. You know that most of our knowledge isn’t true — the whole symbology isn’t true — so don’t believe me, don’t believe yourself, and don’t believe anybody else. The truth doesn’t need you to believe it; the truth simply is, and it survives whether you believe it or not. Lies need you to believe them. If you don’t believe lies, they don’t survive your skepticism, and they simply disappear.- http://www.miguelruiz.com/about-don-jose-ruiz/Please do NOT hesitate to reach out to me on LinkedIn, Instagram, or via email mark@vudream.comLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-metry/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/markmetry/Twitter - https://twitter.com/markymetryMedium - https://medium.com/@markymetryFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/Humans.2.0.PodcastMark Metry - https://www.markmetry.com/Humans 2.0 Twitter - https://twitter.com/Humans2Podcast

The ancient Toltec city of Teotihuacan in Mexico is much more than an archeological wonder. For thousands of years, pilgrims have journeyed through Teo’s sacred temples and plazas and ascended the Pyramids of the Moon and the Sun to discover what is real, authentic and true; to experience the deepest aspect of themselves; and by “dreaming heaven,” to actualize heaven on earth. Once among the largest cities in the world, a pre-Columbian center of craft and commerce with a multi-cultural population of more than 200,000 Toltec, Zapotec, and Maya people, Teotihuacan’s most enduring legacy is as a spiritual center—the oldest mystery school in the Western Hemisphere—it’s name translating as “where Man becomes God.” Dreaming Heaven (Hay House/Agape Media, Sept, 2013) is an unprecedented experience—an intimate, mysterious and illuminating journey through the magical plazas and temples of Teo led by Naguals (guides), both seen and unseen. It allows the reader to walk the paths along with the Naguals to uncover his or her own true pathway…to discover who he or she is at the very core—unburdened by the conscious and unconscious obstacles that prevent full peace and self-actualization. And you—as the reader--will share that journey with an unforgettable group of people, including authors Gini Gentry, Lee McCormick, Francis Rico and Kelly Sullivan Walden.
