Welcome to the Elevator World News Podcast. Today’s podcast news podcast is sponsored by elevatorbooks.com: www.elevatorbooks.com FUNDS OK'D FOR ESCALATOR WORK AT CLEVELAND STADIUM Cuyahoga County, Ohio, has agreed to repay the Cleveland Indians for millions of dollars' worth of improvements to Progressive Field, the home stadium for the Major League Baseball team, Ideastream reported on August 4. The US$3.5 million in upgrades included several projects, but the lion's share — more than US$2.2 million — was devoted to the stadium's escalators, including US$1.5 million for repairs and nearly US$800,000 for preventive maintenance and other work. The money came from a reserve fund originally set up in 2017 to pay for renovations to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, home of the National Basketball Association's Cleveland Cavaliers. On this Monday Morning Bull we welcomed Rob back from his long weekend and heard some of his great stories...so you thought. Topics included: Movie nights, movies to watch during them; reviews from the Allentown Shartfest and garage sales! Robs Did You Know took place, as did the TrendZone with Chris featuring some great sound from around the world! Hugging is seen as a social faux pas in a way nowadays, at least until we get some relief from COVD-19. So we asked you who the last person you hugged in which you do not have normal contact with? Its probably a tough ask since it was such a long time ago since pre-pandemic but we're sure you have stories and so did we! Garage sales and yard sales are officially OK'd and good to go for WNY! This brought up several topics off of how we all will handle garage and yard sales during the advancement of phases. Movie Nights are kicking off and we had three people who attended a movie night over the weekend so we laid out what our ideas are in order to have a great movie night outside! It may be pretty hard to tell the difference between a 'COVID cough' and a 'normal/healthy cough', so we discussed and riffed on how to recognize crucial differences. While a lot of things are getting somewhat back to normal, hugging is NOT! Or so we thought. We asked for your opinions as well as talked about some of ours concerning hugging and hugs,in general with people who you're not immediately around or haven't been during this time. Grid Iron Grandma had a great joke which she told Rob; Rob then told all of us. It was worth it. We also found some sound from an AWESOME horse race where all of the names were related to COVID and the pandemic. ONLY AVAILABLE on the Morning Bull Podcast!
Today's top headlines: Kemp: Emergency declaration in effect until July 12. Summer school, overnight camps, pro sports practices OK'd; bars open Monday. Groups of 25 or more allowed. Positive cases in Northwest Georgia hits 1,006, up 62% since April 30. State death toll at 1,973, up 80% in a month. It will top 2,000 by late Friday or Saturday. GBI: Cartersville man, 55, charged with possession and distribution of child pornography as part of Bartow County Sheriff's Office investigation. Politics: Advance voting for the primaries this Saturday only, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Ware Mechanical Weather Center: Low 80s all weekend with rain, storms possible today and Saturday. Sunday looks perfect. Truett's Chick-fil-A Sports Update: High school association offers some clarity as conditioning resumes a week from Monday. RANT OF THE DAY: Doubling down on downtown. As temperature checks are part of today's pandemic lifestyle, let's do one on downtown Rome: The issue of the hour is whether to let customers stroll about with drinks in hand, suggested again as a way to help reeling restaurants even as more of them resume something close to normal operation. Look for a June 8 City Commission vote. There have been some surprise closings but also openings, including John Henry's Grill and Tortaco (pending in Magretta Hall). The River District's zoning has been flipped to encourage development and at least one serious entrepreneur has taken the bait. There's major competition brewing, with ample parking, where Kmart once stood. East Bend is still happening, a cinder block at a time. And then there's an overall pandemic recovery, especially with downtown Saturday events 0 for 1 on the 2020 season with another due next week. So what's the temperature? Not exactly 98.6 degrees -- but neither is it at serious fever level yet. With the resignation of the downtown director in hand, the city has a crucial hire to make if it wants Broad Street to evolve. We can't afford to fumble this one -- and the City Commission needs to be involved right from the start. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/john-druckenmiller/support

On this week's episode of Versus Trump, Jason and Charlie talk about the fight over Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross's potential testimony in an important lawsuit over the census. They start the conversation by discussing the background of the high-profile lawsuit by New York and other states over the addition of a question about citizenship status on the census. This brings them to why Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has been ordered to testify—basically, because his reasons for adding the question are critical and he has given inconsistent public explanations on the issue—and what the Trump Administration has said in appeals attempting to block it. That leads to an extended discussion about whether this may be Justice Kavanaugh's first controversial decision as a Justice and what we might think about that.Note: As of the time of the recording, the Second Circuit had OK'd the deposition with a delay for the Supreme Court to act; since then, the Supreme Court delayed the depositions further but has not yet acted on the merits of the government's request. You can find us at @VersusTrumpPod on twitter, or send us an email at versustrumppodcast@gmail.com.
