The latest episode of Talking Tigers focuses on the positives in Richmond’s disappointing display against North Melbourne last Sunday, primarily the exciting first-term form of highly-talented teenager Sam Cumming, as well as the impressive efforts throughout the match of defenders Tom Brown, Ben Miller and Kye Annand. Also on this week’s show . . . The TT team throw the magnets around in preparation for Saturday’s clash with arch-rival Collingwood, and they’ve come up with some surprise positional moves. ‘Richo’ rants about the exploitation of a new AFL rule. The “60 years of MCG Memories” segment highlights a season-defining match against the Magpies during the 1994 season. There is a tribute to 1967 premiership hero John Ronaldson, who passed away last week. And club historian Rhett Bartlett unearths some absolute Richmond gold in “Hidden Tigerland”. This week Heff is joined by Aaron Bryans from Grandstand SA to review Round 15 of the 2026 AFL Fantasy season from a draft and keeper league perspective.Jai Murray was one of the big names of the round after another eye-catching performance for Adelaide. With the Crows continuing to give us plenty to think about from a fantasy point of view, we look at whether Murray's role and scoring are starting to become something coaches can properly buy into.Luke Nankervis also put his hand up again, giving fantasy coaches another Crows-related headache to sort through. He's shown enough to be on the radar, but we discuss whether this is a short-term spike, a role worth trusting, or something that could have longer-term keeper league appeal.Mark Keane is another one we need to talk about after scoring well in his first game back from injury. He's a key defender, which always makes him a bit harder to trust in fantasy, but he has put up good scores in the past, so it's tempting. We discuss whether there's enough there to take the punt, or if coaches should be careful chasing points in that type of role. There's also plenty more to get through, including Hugo Hall-Kahan, Cooper Trembath, Tom Brown, Beau Addinsall, James Trezise, Max Michalanney, Neil Erasmus, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Blake Acres and more.As always, it's about working out what's real, what's role-driven, and what's just a one-week spike. If you're playing draft and keeper leagues, this episode is packed with the insights you need to stay ahead of the curve.Become a Keeper League Podcast member:https://keeperleaguepod.com.au/keeper-league-membership/Join our Discord:https://discord.gg/APjqvT22zePlay FootyNumbers:https://footynumbers.comPlay FootyHeads:https://footyheads.com

Host: Alex Cameron, Founder & CEO, Decarb ConnectGuests: Jon Stewart, CEO and Tom Brown, Head of Business Development and Commercial Strategy, Binding SolutionsThe steel industry accounts for roughly 8% of global emissions and has made some of the loudest net zero commitments in heavy industry. But talk to the mills privately and most will tell you they are not on track. The dominant solutions, hydrogen, carbon capture, EAF transition, are either years away, eye-wateringly expensive, or both. Meanwhile, there's a supply chain vulnerability that almost nobody is talking about publicly: pellets. Every major decarb pathway for steel needs them. Producing them at scale costs a billion dollars and most of Europe buys from a handful of suppliers with almost no leverage. Today we're talking to the team at BSL about whether the industry is solving the wrong problems first, and what a lower-cost, modular alternative on something as fundamental as pellets can do for price and targets.Find out why the gap between published net zero roadmaps and what steel mills actually believe is achievable this decade is wider than most people assume. Explore why agglomeration, the pellet-making step, may offer more near-term commercial leverage than hydrogen or CCS, despite attracting a fraction of the policy attention and capital. Learn how a billion-dollar plant cost becomes a structural barrier that shapes who controls the global pellet supply chain, and why European mills are more exposed than they publicly acknowledge. Hear how a technology that works across both blast furnace and DRI pathways makes its case in an industry where most capital decisions are implicitly picking a winner. Richmond CEO Shane Dunne is a special guest on the latest episode of the Club’s premier podcast Talking Tigers. Dunne tackles a broad range of topics in his interview with the TT team, including the playing group’s large injury list and what’s being done to solve the problem, the plans to fix talented, young Tiger Josh Smillie’s frustrating injury issue, an update on the Punt Road Oval redevelopment, and the temporary training facility for the players from the end of this year. Also on this week’s show, Richmond’s stirring, drought-breaking win against West Coast at Optus Stadium last Saturday is thoroughly dissected, and there’s plenty of praise for the performances of Noah Balta, Seth Campbell, Kane McAuliffe, Jack Ross, Sam Cumming, Jonty Faull, Nick Vlastuin, Tom Brown and Tom Burton. The popular “60 Years of MCG Memories” segment highlights a massive win by the Tigers against arch-rival Carlton in 2005. And club historian Rhett Bartlett provides some fascinating food for thought in “Hidden Tigerland”. Massimo D'Ambrosio is back on the 2G4P list after another strong score on the wing. It was a friendly matchup, but with three good games in a row, we ask whether he has finally turned a corner and become a legitimate draft and keeper league option again.Sam Cumming has wasted no time making an impact, going straight into Richmond's midfield mix and attending 23 centre bounces this week. With Taranto out and Prestia going down early, the opportunity is clearly there — and he now looks like one of the most interesting young names to track moving forward.Noah Balta might be the wildest talking point of the week, rucking for Richmond and scoring 119 with 20 hit-outs. With DEF/FWD status and Richmond short on ruck options, we discuss whether this is just a short-term fix or something that could actually hold value for fantasy coaches. We also dig into the other big role changes and waiver wire names from the round, including Kane McAuliffe, Tom Brown, Lincoln McCarthy, Sam Durham, Colby McKercher, Liam Henry, Peter Wright and more.As always, it's about working out what's real, what's role-driven, and what's just a one-week spike.
It’s a tale of three Tiger Sams on the latest episode of Richmond’s powerhouse podcast Talking Tigers. The TT panel express their excitement about the 2024 No. 1 draft pick Sam Lalor, Round 7 debutant Sam Cumming, and this week’s AFL Rising Star nominee Sam Grlj, in the wake of their performances in the Anzac Day Eve blockbuster against Melbourne last Friday night. Also on this week’s show, there’s praise for the Club’s other Round 7 debutant Tom Burton, second-gamer Patrick Retschko, Tom Brown, Kane McAuliffe, Tom Lynch and Dion Prestia. Club historian Rhett Bartlett reveals a truly unique “premiership” won by “Richmond” during the Second World War in his “Hidden Tigerland” segment. ‘Richo’ launches into one of his trademark rants. While, in “60 Years of MCG Memories”, the focus is on an outstanding performance by the Tigers’ star goalsneak John ‘Swooper’ Northey in a clash with Melbourne during the 1968 season. As we crest the wave of the Great Transformation, we have choices: we can crash into chaos and extinction - or we can step into our birthright as fully conscious nodes in the Web of Life, offering the astonishing creativity of humanity in service to life. We've said this on the podcast often, but it's not often that we speak with someone whose entire life is given to helping people step into our birthright, to opening the doors of what we might call Nature Connection, but is so much deeper than this - so that anyone, of any age or circumstance can step forward into whatever it is that our birthright becomes in the twenty-first century. Our guest this week does just this. I've known of Jon Young for decades, heard of his 8 Shields practice and have friends who have trained in his Art of Mentoring, but it was only this last September that we met in person and I was struck by the deep inner stillness he brings to everything he does, the sense that his awareness stretches out across space and through time and he's listening to layers upon layers of meaning. Jon Young is a deep nature-people-self connection researcher, mentor, naturalist, wildlife tracker, author, consultant, and storyteller. Mentored by his grandmothers, Tom Brown, Jr., and a host of elders and experts, he has spent over 40 years leading the field of nature-based community building. His work explores the impact of nature on mentoring, human intelligence, spirituality, well-being, and development, influencing tens of thousands worldwide. He is the author and co-author of seminal works such as What the Robin Knows and Coyote's Guide to Connecting to Nature, and has appeared in documentaries including The Animal Communicator. In 2016, he received the Champion of Environmental Education Award for his innovative and globally impactful contributions to the nature connection movement. So, with all of this as our baseline, it was an honour and a delight to dive deep with Jon into the history and lineages of his learning, of his views of where we are now, and of how we can best navigate this moment of collapse and renewal. https://www.livingconnection1st.net/https://www.jonyoung.orghttps://www.livingconnection1st.net/pages/resourcesJon's TEDx TalkThe Animal CommunicatorSign up for the Living Connection 1st newsletterPaul Hawken's Blessed UnrestKarl Direske's site https://wildernessfusion.com/About Accidental Gods - What we offer. "The food is like almost the last piece of the puzzle." So says acclaimed chef Tom Brown, who joins us to peel back the layers of London's vibrant food scene and his own culinary philosophy. From his 'Willy Wonka' creative process at The Capital, where dishes like his crab custard defy expectation, Brown reveals that true restaurant success hinges on 'setting, service, food' a lesson from Marco Pierre White. He shares his journey from Cornwall to making Hackney home with Cornerstone where he soaked up all the sage wisdom of legend Nathan Outlaw. Tom has always been driven by the belief that "if you do something good, people will come." He finds solace in solo dining at places like Shoreditch's Navy Clubs, emphasizes the "business of happiness," ensuring guests leave feeling better than when they arrived. He delves into his obsession with oysters, learning their 'terroir' from Irish farmers, and the art of fish butchery inspired by Josh Niland. This episode is a masterclass in relentless improvement, drawing parallels between culinary reinvention and the evolution of bands like Arctic Monkeys, all while navigating the tight margins and evolving landscape of modern hospitality. =============================================

Taj Hotton’s exciting AFL debut with Richmond is front and centre on the latest episode of Talking Tigers. The TT panel sing the praises of the talented teenager for what he produced first-up at the game’s highest level against Essendon under the MCG lights last Saturday night. They also pay tribute to another Tiger cub in Luke Trainor following his long-awaited AFL Rising Star nomination. And there’s plenty of positivity around the performances of other Tigers in the clash with the Bombers – 250-game milestone man Nick Vlastuin, Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Toby Nankervis, Ben Miller, Tylar Young, Jayden Short, Tom Brown, Sam Banks, Jack Ross and Jonty Faull. The “Going up the Country” segment features a small South Australian town where a popular, dual Richmond premiership player lived after emigrating from England. “60 Years of MCG Memories” highlights one of the most brilliant quarters of football produced by a player in the Tigers’ history. While, in “Hidden Tigerland”, club historian Rhett Bartlett details a remarkable match in Richmond’s VFA days. While his nickname suggested otherwise, Paul Waner was good for whatever was ailing the Pirates for 15 of his 20 big league seasons. But 83 years ago this week, after moving on from the Bucs, Big Poison would cement his Hall of Fame legacy by becoming the seventh player to reach 3,000 career hits. Mike and Bill look back on a deserving Hall of Famer and find are surprised to find that his nickname was a misnomer on both ends. He was neither big, nor dished out more poison than he ingested. Plus, happy birthday to Sandy Alomar Jr and Brett Butler! And farewell to Chito Martinez and Tom Brown.
Although it’s the mid-season bye for Richmond, with the players having a break, there is no rest for Talking Tigers. In another bumper episode of the Club’s premier podcast this week, the TT team dissect the disappointing Round 13 loss to Sydney but find positives through the form of players such as Dion Prestia, Ben Miller, Seth Campbell, Luke Trainor, Kane McAuliffe and Tom Brown. The “Going up the Country” segment features an exceptionally small Victorian town that produced a triple premiership Tiger. “60 Years of MCG Memories” focuses on the greatest mark taken in Tigerland’s history. While, in “Hidden Tigerland”, the Club’s historian Rhett Bartlett reflects on the extremes of Richmond’s scoring in a match, from the lowest of lows, to a goalkicking spree – both against the same opponent. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for December 29, 2024 is: linchpin LINCH-pin noun Linchpin, sometimes spelled lynchpin, literally refers to a locking pin inserted crosswise, as at the end of an axle or shaft. In figurative use, linchpin refers to a person or thing that serves to hold together parts or elements that exist or function as a unit; such a linchpin is often understood as the most important part of a complex situation or system. // Investors are betting that the new product line will be the linchpin that secures the company's place in the very competitive market in the years and decades to come. See the entry > Examples: “When people tell the story of my life, when I tell this story of my life, Trisha doesn't get much space, but she is a linchpin. For me the linchpin is that tiny bit of aid that holds things together when they might otherwise fall apart that keeps you rolling down the road to where you were already going. It's not the engine, it's not the track. It's invisible but in the moment essential help.” — Alice Randall, My Black Country: A Journey Through Country Music's Black Past, Present, and Future, 2024 Did you know? In his 1857 novel, Tom Brown's School Days, Thomas Hughes describes the “cowardly” custom of “taking the linch-pins out of the farmers' and bagmens' gigs at the fairs.” The linchpin in question held the wheel on the carriage, and removing it made it likely that the wheel would come off as the vehicle moved. Such a pin was called a lynis in Old English; Middle English speakers added pin to form lynspin. By the early 20th century, English speakers were using linchpin for anything as critical to a complex situation as a linchpin is to a wagon, as when Winston Churchill, in 1930, wrote of Canada and the role it played in the relationship between Great Britain and the United States, that “no state, no country, no band of men can more truly be described as the linchpin of peace and world progress.”

But Erik didn't pay the money, and he didn't go to the cops. Instead, he paid Charlie Sheen's former bodyguard and a couple of special ops-trained security contractors to confront the blackmailer. Things didn't go according to plan.In “The Problem with Erik,” host Katy Vine and producer Ana Worrel tell the twisted story of what came next: a perfect storm of secrets, mistaken identities, and tragic miscommunications that left two people dead. It's the latest true crime series from the Texas Monthly team behind “Tom Brown's Body,” “Stephenville,” and "Shane and Sally," coming July 2.For more Texas Monthly productions, visit texasmonthly.com/podcasts
