Any day now, an amazing pre-summer peak walleye pattern is going to explode. And it is based on something few anglers understand — the shiner spawn.  Dr. Paul Cooley is the fisheries scientist who discovered the phenomenon on massive Lake Winnipeg — but it happens in every lake where walleyes eat shiners — and he tells the boys where you'll find the fish bunched up big time. Are you ready for this: the best fishing occurs in waist deep water on the same sand beaches where everyone is swimming and sunbathing. Hold onto your hats because you're not going to believe this one.

With few legal parameters regarding live-in nannies in South Africa, there is little to no guidance for parents and nannies on what the boundaries and regulations are (especially considering this working dynamic started during Apartheid). The Group Areas Act of 1950 essentially created a migrant labour force in South Africa, where urban labourers like domestic workers, gardeners and nannies had to travel extensively into the city for their jobs. And we are still living with the consequences of this fundamentally racist policy today. Sam Steele speaks speaks to a labour lawyer, Paul Cooley of Workplace Strategies, a legal consultancy, to get an idea of what the law requires, and where our moral boundaries are. Welcome to TheBurg Podcast, a weekly roundup of news in and around Harrisburg. April 17, 2015: In a special extended edition of the podcast this week, Larry and Paul speak with their guest, Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse, about myriad issues from his first year-and-change in office. They discuss public safety, schools, mayoral power and Papenfuse's political history and future ambitions - and also get the mayor's endorsements for the 10-way City Council race this year. "Being mayor is a tough job," he tells them. It "requires standing up for what's right, pushing when you need to push, and trying to bring things into the public light when they need to be brought in." Among the topics of discussion: the once-a-year Airing of Greivances before the city's parking committee, a partial victory for lawyers, guns and money, the rejection of a land sale and the newest edition of TheBurg.
