IMPRINTS - Reinforced Records (1990-1996) - d mix & Evolve Reinforced Records. Inspired by a night in the Jazz Cafe recently with 4 Hero, Fabio and Grooverider amongst others. I thought it was time to jump into a truly foundational label. One of the first i collected actually! Founded in ‘89 by Marc Mac and Gus Lawrence then joined by Dennis McFarlane. Most of the early releases were combinations of the founders themselves, 4Hero, Manix and Tek 9. Moving towards late ‘92/'93 the label was at the forefront of the darker side of the music. Looking at Goldie with Rufige, the continued work of Doc Scott and Nasty Habits, and not forgetting 4Hero and the techier sample led sound of theirs. You also have to mention the Enforcers Series that was so popular and are still so sought after! I've decided to focus on the earlier music from Reinforced, finishing up just about where the ‘2nd Phase' started. I'll take you right up to ‘96. I'll dedicate a final section to one of my favourite producers, Nookie. Who took the Reinforced energy and added that musicality he's so well known for. Before that is a mix of other artists that shaped the sound of this label. From the craziness of Nick OD, the drums of Ray Keith, the pianos of Manix, the edge of Rider to ruffness of Rufige and the drums of Manix, the feel of Manix, basically Manix… stop saying Manix… Manix. Speaking of M***x, I've included three tracks in the mix from one of my favourite EPs of all time. Tune for tune a winner… the EP is Called ‘Oblivion (Head in the Clouds)'. Find me a better track for track EP… I'll wait… Expect to hear everything from Rivet1201 all the way through to RIVET1293, I've had a lot of fun pulling out my favourites from this weighty back catalogue, I really hope you enjoy it. Today, they discuss how to call out when a prospect is driving and how sometimes everything in a call can go right but it's still not a good fit. Kevin had to overcome his prospect's first objection by immediately calling out that he was driving and that now might not be the best time to talk. A while back, I was solicited with the opportunity to do a spot on NuWave radio, a program in the UK spearheaded by Marc Mac of 4hero. Ayanna is an English folk and soul singer, songwriter and cellist who has been nominated for a 2012 MOBO Award. A performer of extraordinary versatility, her live shows are intimate journeys that chronicle her experience as a woman in the 21st century. In 2011 Ayanna released ‘Truthfully' – an EP produced by 4hero's Marc Mac and 2013 will see the release of a full album of original work produced by Adem. She has worked with a plethora of UK and international artists including Kronos Quartet, Dutch trumpeter Diederik Rijpstra, Chinese folk artist Xiao Juen, Australian Indigenous musical force Black Arm Band, UK saxophonists Courtney Pine and Jason Yarde, guitarist Nitin Sawhney and singer-songwriters Gwyneth Herbert, Nick Mulvey and Boo Hewerdine. In 2011 she performed in Jazz Voice, the London Jazz Festival's opening night gala, alongside Michelle Dockerty, Gregory Porter, Ian Shaw, Lucinda Belle, Shingai Shoniwa and the London Jazz Festival Orchestra conducted by Guy Barker. She has also played opposite sensational Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca, Jack DeJohnette and Sibongile Khumalo's project Intercontinental and the legendary South African trumpeter and activist Hugh Masekela.  A recipient of many awards and prizes, Ayanna is the first non-American to win the legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater in Harlem and is one of only a handful of people to win with an original composition. This year, she received a Musicians Benevolent Fund Special Commendation Award, is a PRSF Women Make Music Award and is also a featured composer on the London Symphony Orchestra's Soundhub scheme 2012-13.
