Join Tony Bruin in this compelling episode of Cogitations as he tackles the phrase “I was born this way” with a bold biblical response: “Then be born again.” This episode explores the conflict between cultural narratives and the gospel's demand for transformation.Tony contrasts human instinct with the moral framework revealed by God, drawing from both scripture and powerful insights from fellow Substack voices like Dunson Wrights and Drew Milligan. With reflections on law, therapy, and the enduring epistemology of Christianity, this episode calls listeners to examine the soul's responsibility and God's offer of new birth.

Angela and Dylan break down the fundamental difference between your sales funnel and your database—two essential but very different lists that every successful real estate business must master. Learn why your database is not the top of your funnel, how to think differently about nurturing relationships vs. working leads, the specific work to be done in each list (hint: different hats, different outcomes), the LRC framework and why getting this distinction right is the foundation of a scalable, referral-based business. Whether you're brand new or a seasoned pro, this mindset shift is crucial if you want a business that's not only productive but also sustainable and enjoyable. Steve Layman visits with Belmont softball head coach Laura Matthews. The pair discuss Belmont's highly-successful regular season, which included marquee victories over Arizona State, Purdue and Maryland (x2). Matthews shares about how she managed expectations, approached scheduling, and navigated adversity, in large part due to leadership from her Bruin upperclassmen. Matthews provides revealing thoughts about the transformational changes at Rose Park, and how she and her coaching staff have forged strong bonds with the baseball and soccer coaches. Matthews also addresses personal challenges in coaching during COVID, overseeing the Wright State softball program when the university elected to no longer sponsor the sport, and seeing things to the other side in her native Nashville at Belmont. Layman sparks conversation on standout pitcher Maya Johnson and the qualities she possesses to rank among the nation's best. The pair also preview the MVC Softball Tournament, and get a laugh about Matthews' dream job.
