Air Tycoon 3 is not Pocket Planes and it's not for the faint of heart. It's as complex as say interpreting NMR spectra or… running your own airline. You don't just buy your plane, unlock a few airports and take to the skies. When buying an aeroplane, amongst other things you need to specify how many seats it will have, how much legroom and the proportion of business class and working class seats. Then you need to buy slots at airfields, staff check-in desks and management offices, bulk buy aviation fuel, choose your in-flight meals and accoutrements, set and adjust your fares, not forgetting to set your marketing and staff training budgets and run a hotel and limo service. The list goes on and on. That's not to say it isn't fun, but if you're the kind of person that would rather gun enemies down in a first person shooter, than say, perform the ammunition stocktake and negotiate savings from suppliers by ensuring your soldiers equip a battle rifle and sidearm that both take 5.56 mm rounds, it might not be for you.

Nach einer höchstverdienten spätsommerlichen Pause klemmen sich die beiden App-Schrubber Joachim von www.stromstock.de und Tobi von www.appgemeinde.de wieder hinter die Mikrofone und verbreiten sich über das Spielenswerteste für das iPad aus dem App Store. Bevor es richtig losgeht, ein Hinweis in eigener Sache: Tobi hat seiner Seite ein frisches Kleid spendiert, in der AppGemeinde ist jetzt alles noch flacher. Den Anfang im App-Reigen macht die SEGA-/Double-Fine-Produktion The Cave. Leider bleibt die atmosphärische Konsolen-Umsetzung aufgrund weiter Wege und hakeliger Steuerung hinter den hohen Erwartungen zurück und kann der Adventure-Referenz Tiny Thief nicht das Wasser reichen. Weil er ihn immer so hart rannimmt und er es seelisch nicht mehr aushalten kann, entflieht Tobi mit den Pocket Trains von NimbleBit, die ihm genau so gut gefallen, wie der thematisch verwandte Vorgänger Pocket Planes. Da Joachim von frühester Kindheit gewohnt ist, mit wenig zufrieden zu sein, kann er auch der rundenbasierten Pixelmatsche 868 Hack viel abgewinnen. Die kurzweilige wie anspruchsvolle Strategie-Perle ist allerdings ein Paradebeispiel für lieblose Gestaltung. Da haben sich Crescent Moon Games bei Nakama deutlich mehr Mühe gegeben, bei dem Spieler mit einem Pixel-Ninja schnetzelnd durch die Gegend heizt. Tobi findet es zu schwer und ehrlich gesagt hängen den beiden die grobpixeligen Titel langsam zum Hals raus. Beim ebenfalls in Pixel-Anmutung gehüllten Titel Level 22 schleicht Joachim mit der Hauptfigur zum Arbeitsplatz, verkatert und ständig in der Angst von den missliebigen Kollegen für das Zuspätkommen verpfiffen zu werden. Technische Unzulänglichkeiten verhalgeln die Petersilie, wer auf iOS schleichen möchte, sollte das mit Dynamite Jack tun. Die deutsche Produktion Shadow Vamp indes protzt mit 3D-Grafik und innovativem Spielprinzip, allerdings kann sich Tobi nicht mit einem fetten Vampir identifizieren. Kurzweiliges Action-Vergnügen beschert den beiden Trouserheart, bei dem ein König seinen gestohlenen Hosen nachjagt. Der Titel ist, wie die beiden ihre Frauen lieben: kurz, bunt, amüsant und ohne Tiefgang. Zum Schluss klemmt sich Tobi noch hinter das Steuer von 2K Drive. Ungünstige Design-Entscheidungen sorgen für einen Fehlstart, doch wenn Tobi nur tief genug unter die Haube schaut, findet er genug, das ihm gefällt. Und natürlich lässt es sich Stammhörer Torben nicht nehmen, die Sendung mit einem Anruf zu unterbrechen. Aus dem Knast… das kommt von zu vielen Apps und zu wenig frischer Luft.
