In the 25th century, Dr. Beverly Crusher and her son Jack are attacked aboard the SS Eleos. Beverly is injured and sends an emergency message to her former Starfleet captain, the retired Admiral Jean-Luc Picard. Picard and his love Laris are planning a trip to Chaltok IV when he receives the message and she encourages him to go. Beverly told Picard not to involve Starfleet so he goes to his former first officer, Captain William Riker. Riker and Picard stage a surprise inspection of the successor to Riker's former ship, the USS Titan-A, planning to convince its new captain, Liam Shaw, to go to Beverly's location without revealing their intentions. Shaw declines, but his first officer is Picard's friend Seven of Nine who ignores Shaw's orders and changes the Titan's course. On M'talas Prime, Starfleet intelligence officer Raffi Musiker searches for a stolen quantum tunneling device that her mysterious handler fears will be used in a terrorist attack; she fails to find it before it is used to destroy a Starfleet facility. Picard and Riker board the Eleos, finding Beverly and Jack as a large ship appears.Support this podcast at patreon.com/TVTalkAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Season 3 of Picard starts this week and I wanted an expert to talk with me about it, so I went to the rolodex (yes, I still have one of those-kinda) and asked Una McCormack to join me on the show. Una has been on two other episodes of Coffee in Space. In Episode 80 we talked about Una's work in the Dr. Who and Firefly enterprises, and in Episode 81 we talked directly about her novel, The Last Best Hope. Una is also the author of Second Self, which focuses on the backstory for Raffi Musiker, Jean Luc Picard's right hand person in the Picard series. You can learn more about Una's work at her website HERE. She can also be found on Twitter also.Subscribe to the Coffee in Space newsletter so you can stay up to date on all podcast episodes and news about the interviews!Coffee in Space is a crowd funded effort. The End Is the Beginning. Starfleet officers have been an essential part of every incarnation of Star Trek—until Star Trek: Picard. Instead of captains, commanders, lieutenants, and ensigns, Picard brings us ex-Starfleet officers, Romulans, and androids to construct a narrative more focused on life outside Starfleet. In this episode of The Line, hosts Brandon-Shea Mutala, Justin Oser, and Chrissie De Clerck-Szilagyi discuss the third episode of Star Trek: Picard, “The End Is the Beginning.” We explore the complex interaction between Picard and his former first officer, Raffi Musiker, as well as the latest developments on the Artifact, the mysterious Romulan-controlled Borg cube. We also talk about the return of Hugh, the introduction of charming rogue Cristóbal Rios, and Picard's crew of former Starfleet officers who come together on Rios's ship. We also share our predictions for upcoming episodes. For episode 7 of The Star Trek Picard Cast, Brian and Ruthie talk through your feedback on Season 1, Episode 3 of Star Trek: Picard, titled The End is the Beginning. We're finally in space! It was a decent episode, but Brian took some issue with the cold open. And then, there's the long-standing issue with the Federation economy... but we got to see Hugh! We also respond to some feedback we have gotten back from our listeners about the acting. And we had to talk about Commodore Oh's ears, which you'll see in our blog post!
