It's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they've built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   RENAULT EV ELECTRIC BATTERY COSTS TO REDUCE IN ELECTRIC-CAR PUSH   - Renault SA aims to cut the cost of its batteries by 60% this decade as the struggling French carmaker seeks to accelerate a push into electric vehicles. Renault also plans to lower the cost of its electric motors by 30%, make them more compact and extend their range, it said Wednesday. It plans to roll out several EVs in the coming years, including a revival of the iconic and affordable ‘4L' model.   - In deciding to revive the 4L model that dates back to the 1960s after also announcing plans to remake the Renault 5 into an EV, de Meo is taking his penchant for vintage a step further. The latter will cost a third less than its compact Zoe EV, the company said.   - Part of Renault's push into affordable EVs is a pledge to lower battery-pack costs to less than $100 per kilowatt-hour in 2025, and below $80 per kilowatt-hour in 2030   Original Source : https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-06-30/renault-pledges-to-lower-battery-costs-in-electric-car-push     ELECTRIC RENAULT 5 HEADING FOR PRODUCTION - AND IT'LL COST UNDER £20K   - The Renault 5 EV Prototype is heading for production, although not until 2024, with a new platform and a target price under £20k.   When Renault revealed the new electric Renault 5 Prototype at the start of the year, it was hard to believe it was just a punt at a future EV, rather than a car with production intent, as it seemed to hit a rich vein of retro-modern style and promised much.   - To no one's great surprise, Renault has now announced that the Electric 5 will go into production as part of its plans to deliver 14 new models by 2025 – seven of which will be EVs – and arrive in 2024. So a bit of a wait then. When it does arrive, the Electric 5 will use new nickel, manganese and cobalt (NCM) batteries which, say Renault, will drastically reduce the overall battery cost and deliver a range of around 250 miles, 134bhp from its electric motor and be underpinned by a new CMF-BEV Platform designed for compact EVs.   Original Source : https://www.carsuk.net/electric-renault-5-heading-for-production-and-itll-cost-under-20k/   RENAULT 4EVER: BRAND TEASES ADDITIONAL SMALL EV   - Renault has confirmed it's developing a second B-segment EV, currently named the '4ever'. The  brand revealed the first details and a reductive teaser image of the  front end of the new car, showing a rectangular 'grille' and headlights  complete with Renault's new badge front and centre. It's designed to  invoke the classic Renault 4 – one of the brand's most iconic models –  and reimagine it for the electric age.   - The  new 4ever will use the brand's new CMF-BEV platform – an electric  version of the platform used on the Clio and Captur – which claims  around 248 miles of range on a charge.   Original Source : https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/first-official-pictures/renault/4-ev/   NEW RENAULT PLATFORM MAKES ELECTRIC VEHICLES ‘MORE AFFORDABLE'   - It says it will also strengthen its presence in the all-electric C-segment, firstly with the All-New MéganE in 2022, while the Alpine ‘dream garage' unveiled in January will become a reality, starting in 2024. The Group aims at providing the greenest mix in the European market in 2025, with more than 65% of vehicles in the sales mix electric and electrified, and up to 90% BEVs in the Renault brand mix by 2030.   - With CMF-EV and CMF-BEV platforms, the Group says it can capitalise on its 10 years' of EV experience making dedicated EV platforms along with its highly efficient CMF-B platform. For the C- and D-segment, the CMF-EV platform will represent 700,000 units at Alliance level by 2025. CMF-EV offers a range up to 360 miles (580km, WLTP).   - This performance, it says, comes from the Group and Nissan's engineers working on reduced friction, weight reduction and a state-of-the-art thermal management system.   - On top of these new technologies, the Group is also working on a more compact, all-in-one e-powertrain. This e-powertrain integrates the e-motor, the reducer and the power electronics (One Box Project) in a single package: enabling 45% less volume in total (equivalent to the volume of the current-generation Clio fuel tank), 30% reduction in cost of the overall powertrain (this value saving being the equivalent of the e-motor cost), and 45% reduction of wasted energy on WLTP allowing an extra EV range of up to 12 miles (20km).   Original Source : https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/electric-fleet-news/2021/06/30/new-renault-platform-makes-electric-vehicles-more-affordable   GM AND SHELL WILL GIVE YOU FREE ELECTRICITY FOR YOUR ELECTRIC CAR   - While many companies and even countries have committed to going full-zero-emissions by a certain date, GM and Shell are going a step or two beyond that, offering to pay for the electricity to charge your electric car.   - “Coming this summer, owners of electric vehicles from GM brands will have the opportunity to select home energy plans that include the option for free overnight hours of EV charging1,” GM said in a release.   - You just have to own a GM EV, in Texas, and charge overnight. You can easily program your car to start and stop charging at certain times of the day or night, so it won't be that hard.   - “Owners of eligible Chevrolet electric vehicles (EV) will have the opportunity to schedule their EV to charge during the free overnight hours, from midnight to 5 a.m.”   Original Source : https://www.autoweek.com/news/green-cars/a36882632/gm-and-shell-free-electricity/   REVEL VOWS TO LAUNCH TESLA E-CAB SERVICE THIS SUMMER   - Brooklyn e-scooter-sharing company Revel is ploughing ahead with its plans roll out an all-electric cab fleet later this summer, despite the city's Taxi and Limousine Commission blocking the move last week. “We'll be launching a little later this summer,” said Revel co-founder and chief executive officer Frank Reig at the opening of the company's electric vehicle charging ‘superhub' in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, on Tuesday, June 29.   - Revel originally wanted debut a fleet of 50 Teslas colored in the company's signature blue onto the streets of Downtown Manhattan. In order to bypass the the city's cap on new for-hire vehicles, the firm planned to use an exemption for electric vehicles, but TLC threw up a roadblock last week when commissioners voted to close that loophole.   - On Tuesday, the company cut the ribbon on its new electric vehicle charging hub at the old Pfizer factory on Flushing and Marcy avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, which will be open to the public to juice up their electric cars 24/7 starting Tuesday, with free charging for the first seven days   - the power center was supposed to support Revel's fleet of Tesla Model Y's, as well as charge EV's owned by the public at the rate of 39 cents per kilowatt-hour   Original Source : https://www.brooklynpaper.com/revel-vows-to-launch-tesla-e-cab-this-summer/   CRASHES INVOLVING TESLA AUTOPILOT AND OTHER DRIVER-ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS GET NEW SCRUTINY   · Original Source : https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/29/business/tesla-autopilot-safety.html   TESLA WINS AGAINST GREEN ACTIVISTS WHO SOUGHT TO DELAY EUROPEAN PLANT Original Source : https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/tesla-wins-against-green-activists-who-sought-delay-european-plant   TESLA MODEL Y LAUNCH DATE AND PRICING IN HONG KONG REVEALED   Original Source : https://thedriven.io/2021/06/30/tesla-model-y-launch-date-and-pricing-in-hong-kong-revealed/   142 TESLA MEGAPACKS POWER ON TO CREATE GIANT NEW BATTERY, REPLACING GAS PEAKER PLANT IN CALIFORNIA Original Source : https://electrek.co/2021/06/30/tesla-megapacks-power-on-battery-replacing-gas-peaker-plant-california/   CHAR.GY AWARDED £6.4M FOR ON-STREET CHARGING IN THE UK   Original Source : https://www.electrive.com/2021/06/29/char-gy-awarded-6-4m-for-on-street-charging-in-the-uk/   NETHERLANDS LICENSES FIRST EV SMART CHARGING COMPANY TO PROVIDE GRID SERVICES   Original Source : https://www.pv-magazine.com/2021/06/30/netherlands-licenses-first-ev-smart-charging-company-to-provide-grid-services/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter   CONNECTICUT INCREASES REBATES FOR ELECTRIC CAR PURCHASES   Original Source : https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/politics/connecticut-increases-rebates-for-electric-car-purchases/2517612/   GERMANY: PLUG-IN CAR SALES MORE THAN QUADRUPLED IN MAY 2021   Original Source : https://insideevs.com/news/517066/germany-plugin-sales-may-2021/   PORSCHE MACAN EV INTERIOR CAUGHT IN FRESH SPY PHOTOS   Original Source : https://www.autoblog.com/2021/06/29/porsche-macan-ev-interior-spy-photos/   NEW 2022 GENESIS GV60 ELECTRIC CROSSOVER CAUGHT ON CAMERA   Original Source : https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/genesis/108161/new-2022-genesis-gv60-electric-crossover-caught-camera   QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM   If you could only afford one, would you rather - Solar Panels or battery storage? Renault SA, Nissan Motor Co and Mitsubishi Motors Corp on Wednesday announced details of a new strategy plan pledging to deepen cooperation in developing and producing cars to survive as an automaking group. The three carmakers are reeling from the coronavirus pandemic which engulfed them just as they were trying to rework their partnership after the arrest in 2018 and subsequent ousting of its chairman and chief architect, Carlos Ghosn. The reworked alliance will focus on more systematic divisions of labour, with one partner leading for a particular type of vehicle and geography while the others follow. --- This episode is sponsored by · Afrolit Podcast: Hosted by Ekua PM, Afrolit shares the stories of multi-faceted Africans one episode at a time. https://open.spotify.com/show/2nJxiiYRyfMQlDEXXpzlZS?si=mmgODX3NQ-yfQvR0JRH-WA Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/newscast-africa/support

The newly tapped directors to strengthen corporate governance at Nissan promised to turn the Japanese automaker's ailing business around but said Wednesday that extensive job cuts designed to drive a recovery are also coming.Nissan's brand image has been battered by the financial wrongdoing scandal of former Chairman Carlos Ghosn, who is awaiting trial in Japan.Motoo Nagai, a former banker and a new outside director overseeing audit, told reporters Wednesday the job cuts will be announced this week under a new scenario to drive growth.Japanese media have reported that Nissan Motor Co. will slash 10,000 jobs. Nagai did not give details."This is not a simple job reduction but designed for a big jump," he told reporters at the company's Yokohama headquarters.Ghosn, who led Nissan for two decades, is awaiting trial on allegations of under-reporting future compensation and having Nissan shoulder his investment losses. He has repeatedly said he is innocent.Nissan restructured its board and management team in March, adding outside directors, after Ghosn was arrested in November. The directors' appointments to head various governance committees, to oversee compensation, nomination and audit, won shareholders' approval in June. The directors have said that the concentration of power in Ghosn led to the wrongdoing and have acknowledged that governance checks at Nissan had lagged. But they stressed that their efforts had just begun."We need to set up a solid corporate governance structure but also make sure it is put it into practice," said Yasushi Kimura, chairman of the board, stressing that transparency and fairness were critical. Kimura previously served as a consultant at an oil company.Other governance directors are Masakazu Toyoda, an academic and outside director overseeing executive nominations, and Keiko Ihara, a race-car driver and outside director overseeing compensation. Both were Nissan directors from last year but are newly appointed to the governance positions.Toyoda said it was important to build a succession in management and strengthen Nissan's alliance with French automaker Renault SA and smaller Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corp.Nissan's financial results have tumbled since the Ghosn scandal. The company reports its fiscal first quarter earnings on Thursday. The directors acknowledged that Nissan's U.S. operations suffered from a mistaken strategy that pursued maximizing sales volume, relying on incentives and fleet sales, or rentals. They also said reassuring shareholders and the public that Nissan had proper governance was important for overall operations."Our job is to make sure management can focus on the auto business," Nagai said. The company's relationship with Renault also has been questioned in the absence of Ghosn, as he was sent by Renault to help turn around Nissan in the late 1990s and had worked to bring together the alliance.Ghosn was released on bail in April after spending 130 days in detention. It's unclear when his trial will start as it is common in Japan for trial preparations to take many months. Ghosn has been ousted from Nissan's board, and he has resigned from the board of Renault.

French politicking killed FCA merger with Renault

This week, Daniel Howes says parochial French politicking effectively killed Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s proposed merger with Renault SA of France. Increasing French demands to benefit French interests signaled to FCA’s leadership the likely shape of things to come as they considered the scale of the merger they proposed to execute. What did they expect from politicians controlling a 15% stake in Renault, evidently believed to be a license to call the shots and set the rules?

Show #484   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Monday 27th May 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   Firstly a big thank you to Gerard from TryEV.  Really looking forward to seeing Gerard and the TryEV team at Fully Charged. A little but about them: "Use our visualisation tool to discover the perfect EV for you. You can look at many models, and configure them to suit your needs. Contact us to book a test drive. Once you have decided on the vehicle you want, we’ll help you buy or lease it at the best possible price. We can match you with new or used vehicles from dozens of EV partners. And we can advise you about energy packages and charging solutions."   TESLA ANNOUNCES SURPRISE FOR CHINA: TO BE SHOWN ON MAY 31 "Tesla published an enigmatic announcement of an upcoming surprise on its Weibo social media channel for the Chinese market." reveals InsideEVs: "The date indicates Friday May 31, 2019, while the release only in the Chinese media suggests it's specific to China. Is this a new electric car or a new version of Model 3? Or maybe something related to the Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai? A new, faster-charging setup for the Chinese market, or maybe a new feature dedicated to China?"   https://insideevs.com/news/351662/tesla-surprise-china-may-31/   FIAT-RENAULT MEGA-MERGER IS BORN OF DESPERATION "Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said it hopes to merge with Renault SA to form the world’s third-largest carmaker (or by far the largest if you include Renault’s alliance partner Nissan, which arguably one should)." says Bloomberg today: "Due to its limited financial resources, Fiat is a laggard in electric vehicles while Renault is an acknowledged leader. But thanks to its acquired Jeep and Ram brands, Fiat has a very profitable truck and SUV business in the U.S. By contrast, Fiat’s Europea n operations are hardly profitable, which may explain why it picked Renault as a potential merger partner"   https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-05-27/fiat-renault-merger-is-born-of-desperation   "The combined business would sell approximately 8.7 million vehicles annually, would be a world leader in EV technologies, premium brands, SUVs, pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles and would have a broader and more balanced global presence than either company on a standalone basis," FCA said in a statement Monday.   Meanwhile Green Car Reports writes: "FCA's interest in the deal could include Renault's significant investments in EV development, which FCA has sorely lagged. Under former CEO Carlos Ghosn, Renault quickly adopted electrification and has become Europe's largest EV manufacturer, by sales. By contrast, FCA's vehicle portfolio has recently focused on big, heavy vehicles with little electrification—and no clear timetable for their deployment in markets where EVs are increasingly becoming mandatory. In Europe alone, FCA has paid hundreds of millions for emissions credits to offset their big, thirsty vehicle lineup."   https://www2.greencarreports.com/news/1123279_fiat-chrysler-submits-offer-for-renault-merger-could-jump-start-electric-car-development   VW TO REWORK $56 BILLION BATTERY PUSH ON SAMSUNG DEAL RISK "Volkswagen AG is making changes to its battery-purchasing plan worth about 50 billion euros ($56 billion) over concerns one if its supply deals, with Samsung SDI Co. Ltd., might unravel, according to people familiar with the matter." again this story coming from Bloomberg today: "Samsung initially agreed to deliver batteries for just over 20 gigawatt hours, enough to power 200,000 cars with 100 kilowatt hour packs, before different views on production volume and schedule emerged during detailed negotiations, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the talks are confidential. The impasse cut pledged supplies to less than 5 gigawatt hours, they said."   And electrive says: "Volkswagen’s need for cells is immense in view of the target set in its Roadmap E with 50 new all-electric vehicles by 2025. At this point, the Wolfsburg company says it needs a battery capacity of more than 150 GWh per year. This corresponds to an annual capacity of at least four Gigafactorys on the Tesla scale, which is now regarded as a sort of industry standard."   https://www.electrive.com/2019/05/27/volkswagens-battery-supply-may-be-in-trouble/   AN ELECTRIC CAR WILL REPLACE AUDI TT, CONFIRMS THE MANUFACTURER "As hinted by the CEO in March, the Audi TT sports car is going away. The replacement will be an “emotive” electric car." according to The Supercar Blog.com: "While the Audi TT had a crucial role to play in building the Audi brand in global markets during its 21-year-long life, the change in customer trends and buying patterns made the compact sports car less appealing to the target audience of young buyers."   https://www.thesupercarblog.com/an-electric-car-will-replace-audi-tt-confirms-the-manufacturer/   RUSSIAN ENGINEERS TO DEVELOP POWER UNIT FOR MARUSSIA-BASED ELECTRIC CAR "Engineers from Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) will develop a power unit for the electric car based on the Russian-made sports car Marussia." according to taas.com: "The work will take a year and a half. In the process, the internal-combustion engine will be replaced with a heavy energy-efficient power unit, lithium-ion batteries will be fixed on the electric car being created and the control system will be synthetized. General Director of Spektr company Andrey Bratenkov said that six Marussia cars have been delivered to Novosibirsk."   http://tass.com/science/1060234   COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. If you thought that the Silicon Valley automaker couldn't easily top 2018 Q4 numbers, you may want to think again." reports InsideEVs: "Our good friends over at Teslarati first discovered the "alleged leaked" email via Chinese social media and stock trading website."   "From: Elon Musk Date: Wed 5/22/2019 10:45 PM To: Everybody   As of yesterday, we had over 50,000 net new orders for this quarter. Based on current trends, we have a good chance of exceeding the record 90,700 deliveries of Q4 last year and making this the highest deliveries/sales quarter in Tesla history!   In order to achieve this, we need sustained output of 1,000 Model 3’s per day. Almost all parts of the Model 3 production system have exceeded 1000 units on multiple days (congratulations!!) and we’ve averaged about 900/day this week, so we’re only about 10% away from 7000/week.   If we rally hard, we can do it!   Thanks for your great work,   Elon"   https://insideevs.com/news/351085/tesla-model-3-q2-delivery-potential-leaked/   CONSUMER REPORTS: TESLA'S AUTOMATIC LANE CHANGES POSE SAFETY CONCERNS "Consumer Reports...has claimed that the latest version of the semi-autonomous driving feature poses "serious safety concerns," making automatic lane changes that are overly aggressive and don't properly anticipate human behavior. It will also launch the brand’s strategic push towards the electrified and all-electric market." according to AutoExpress: "The Vauxhall Corsa-e will sit on the same underpinnings as the recently-released Peugeot e-208. That means it should have a range of 211 miles, a 50kWh battery pack and a 134bhp electric motor driving the front wheels. Charge times should be identical, too, with an 80 per cent top-up taking 30 minutes using a 100kW fast charger."   https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/vauxhall/corsa/102657/pure-electric-vauxhall-corsa-e-revealed-with-211-mile-range   MERCEDES-BENZ EQB SEEN IN CAMOUFLAGE "Mercedes-Benz EQC, which recently entered production, is just the first of many new all-electric cars under the new EQ brand. The German manufacturer is busy at work, developing also the smaller Mercedes-Benz EQB, which was recently caught in camouflage by walkoARTvideos on streets." reports Motor1.com: "The EQB is related to the Mercedes-Benz GLB, which besides the all-electric cousin, will get a plug-in hybrid version too. Rumours say that EQB could be rated at 500 km (310 miles) of range under WLTP, while the GLB EQ Power will have up to 62 miles (100 km) of all-electric range."   https://uk.motor1.com/news/350861/mercedes-benz-eqb-spy-video/   RENAULT TO PRODUCE CAR-SHARE READY ZOE EV FOR FLEETS "Vulog, the supplier of shared mobility technology, announced a partnership with Renault, which will result in production of car-sharing ready vehicles." pick up InsideEVs today: "Starting immediately, Renault will be able to produce ZOE equipped with Vulog’s car sharing hardware directly on its assembly line. In effect, fleets interested in car sharing are now able to order ZOE equipped for car sharing from the start, instead of retrofitting the car afterward and save some cost, we assume. The partnership between Renault and Vulog suggests that car sharing is now popular enough to incorporate it on a production line." "By the end of 2019, over 2,500 Renault ZOEs equipped with Vulog’s car sharing technology will be in market, initially in northern Europe, South America and the United Arab Emirates."   https://insideevs.com/news/350855/renault-produce-car-share-ready-zoe/   TEXAS LOOKS TO BOOST FEES ON EV’S TO FUND HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE "Texas is considering whether to impose additional registration fees on electric and hybrid vehicles, following nearly half the states that already impose higher fees on battery powered vehicles to compensate for lost gasoline taxes used to maintain roads and highways." says the Houston Chronicle: "The bills in Texas are unlikely to get through the legislative session, which ends Monday, but the issue is almost certain to resurface as Texas and other states wrestle with depleted highway funds as cars become more fuel efficient and federal gas taxes remain unchanged from their levels 26 years ago. With electric vehicles representing 2 percent of U.S. vehicle sales last year, lawmakers look to revamp the way the nation pays for its transportation network."   A Green Car Reports Twitter poll last week timed well with this story as I've just seen the results: "The largest group of respondents agreed that per-mile fees seemed fairest, with 42 percent of our respondents choosing that option. Some commenters noted that many states already require safety inspections which record vehicle mileage, which could be used to track the mileage. The second-largest group, at 29 percent, favored the approach that most states seem to have taken (those states that try to raise highway funds from EVs at all, anyway), registration fees."   https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/energy/article/Texas-other-states-look-to-boost-fees-on-EV-s-13877118.php   https://www2.greencarreports.com/news/1123208_how-should-ev-owners-pay-for-road-maintenance-twitter-poll-results   HE BUILT AN EV IN HIS GARAGE. 10 YEARS LATER, HYUNDAI IS GIVING HIM $90 MILLION "The story of Croatia-based Rimac Automobili, which just might be the most unlikely of success stories. That’s because the company was established in 2009 by then-21-year-old Mate Rimac, who built an electric car in his garage." reports ThomasNet: "Ten years later, Rimac is all grown up and employs 500 workers. The company also recently announced an influx of cash from a joint effort by Hyundai and Kia. The automakers will dump about $90 million into the electric vehicle maker and also plan to establish a strategic partnership where they’ll collaborate on high-performance EVs"   https://news.thomasnet.com/featured/at-21-he-built-an-ev-in-his-garage-10-years-later-hyundai-is-giving-him-90-million/   HYUNDAI KONA ELECTRIC INDIA LAUNCH ON JULY 9, 2019 "Hyundai will launch its first all-electric model in India, the Kona Electric, on July 9, 2019." Autocar says: "We had first reported in March last year that Hyundai had plans to bring its electric SUV to India, along with its plans to locally assemble to keep prices in check. Hyundai isn’t expecting to sell more than 60 units a month of the Kona Electric."   https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/hyundai-kona-electric-india-launch-on-july-9-2019-412829   FIRST DEBUT ON THE ROAD FOR THE CUPRA FORMENTOR PLUG-IN HYBRID The Cupra Formentor has made its dynamic debut around the roads of Cap de Formentor, Mallorca, from which it takes its name. It was the first of a series of hearings to iron out logistics for Ghosn's actual trial. The trial date has not been set, and experts say it could be months away." writes SFGate.com: "Ghosn insists he is innocent and says he was targeted in a "conspiracy" by others at Nissan Motor Co Nissan, which is allied with Renault SA of France, has seen profits nose-dive amid the fallout from Ghosn's arrest."   https://www.sfgate.com/news/crime/article/Former-Nissan-chairman-Ghosn-appears-in-Tokyo-13878054.php   MEANWHILE...NISSAN IS THINKING ABOUT BATTERIES "Data from Nissan shows the batteries used by its Leaf electric car will outlast the vehicle by 10-12 years, said Francisco Carranza, managing director of Renault-Nissan Energy Services. Nissan monitors everything from charging patterns to battery degradation on the more than 400,000 Leafs it has sold in Europe since launching the first generation in 2011." reports Autonews Europe: "Based on the average of life of a car at 10 years, Carranza put the battery life at 22 years. “We are going to have to recover those batteries,” Carranza told the Automotive News Europe Congress here on Wednesday. Nissan has been looking at ways to boost revenue from electric cars for itself and its customers as traditional revenue streams dry up in the switch from combustion cars to electric cars. “Aftersales revenue will massively suffer from electrification,” Carranza said.   https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/nissan-looks-ways-use-long-lasting-ev-batteries   COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week.
