En Chine, la surveillance du web prend un nouveau visage. Habitué à filtrer les sujets politiques sensibles, le gouvernement chinois lance désormais une campagne contre… le pessimisme. L'Administration du cyberespace, l'autorité chargée du contrôle d'internet, a annoncé une opération de deux mois pour supprimer les messages jugés « excessivement négatifs ou désespérés ». Officiellement, l'objectif est de « promouvoir un environnement en ligne plus harmonieux ». Concrètement, les plateformes et influenceurs chinois sont invités à diffuser davantage de messages positifs sur la société et l'avenir du pays. Selon la BBC, plusieurs créateurs populaires connus pour leur ton critique ou ironique auraient déjà vu leurs comptes suspendus sans explication.Ce durcissement intervient alors qu'une partie de la jeunesse chinoise exprime ouvertement son désenchantement face à la pression du travail et à la montée des inégalités. Un phénomène baptisé Tangping, littéralement « s'allonger à plat », s'est imposé ces dernières années. Il symbolise le refus de cette génération de s'épuiser dans le modèle du 996 – travailler de 9 h du matin à 9 h du soir, six jours sur sept. Un mode de vie qui a longtemps incarné la réussite du capitalisme chinois… mais dont beaucoup ne veulent plus. Pékin voit dans cette attitude une menace pour la productivité nationale et tente donc de reconquérir l'espace numérique, principal lieu d'expression de cette jeunesse. Les grandes plateformes, comme Weibo, Xiaohongshu ou Kuaishou, sont directement mises en cause : elles devront renforcer la modération des contenus jugés « démoralisants », sous peine de « sanctions sévères ». Ce nouveau type de contrôle illustre une évolution du modèle chinois de censure. Xiaomi salta del 15 al 17 para desafiar directamente al iPhone 17 en China y el mundo, apostando por potencia y diseño innovador Por Félix Riaño @LocutorCo Apple presentó el iPhone 17 hace apenas una semana y ya tiene un competidor que busca robarle atención: Xiaomi. La empresa china anunció el Xiaomi 17, el 17 Pro y el 17 Pro Max, con un detalle que sorprendió a muchos: la serie 16 desapareció. En vez de seguir la secuencia lógica, Xiaomi saltó directo al 17, igualando el número de Apple y poniendo en claro que su meta es competir frente a frente. El detalle más llamativo está en el 17 Pro Max, que llega con una pantalla adicional en la parte trasera, justo en el espacio donde otros ponen un bloque de cámaras. La pregunta es: ¿será esto suficiente para cambiar las reglas de la fotografía móvil? No todos creen que una pantalla trasera sea tan útil como parece Xiaomi mostró las primeras imágenes del 17 Pro Max en su cuenta oficial de Weibo, la red social más usada en China. Allí se vio el diseño: una gran superficie de cámaras, pero acompañada por una pantalla secundaria a color, llamada “Magic Back Screen”. Esta se puede usar como reloj, centro de notificaciones o incluso visor para selfies. La marca recordó que no es su primera vez con pantallas traseras. En 2021, el Mi 11 Ultra ya tenía una pequeña. Pero ahora la propuesta es más completa, con un panel que ocupa toda la zona de cámaras. Es un golpe directo a Apple, que mantiene el diseño tradicional con un gran bloque sin aprovechar. El mercado de móviles en China es uno de los más competidos del mundo. Apple domina el segmento premium con más del 50 % de participación, seguida por Huawei. Google is officially debunking a series of reports that claimed Gmail has been hit with a "major" security issue in recent days. "We want to reassure our users that Gmail's protections are strong and effective," the company said in a somewhat unusual statement. "Several inaccurate claims surfaced recently that incorrectly stated that we issued a broad warning to all Gmail users about a major Gmail security issue. This is entirely false." Also, major social media platforms in China have started rolling out labels for AI-generated content to comply with a law that took effect on Monday. Users of the likes of WeChat, Douyin, Weibo and RedNote are now seeing such labels on posts. And, following news that Escape from Tarkov is escaping its perpetual beta, the pioneering extraction shooter is also about to make its debut on Steam. Nikita Buyanov, head of the Battlestate Games studio that developed Escape from Tarkov, confirmed on X that the game's Steam page "will be available soon," only teasing that the full details will come later. US President Donald Trump's sharply contrasting tariff policies toward India and Pakistan have sparked widespread debate. India, long seen by Washington as a key strategic partner, faces tough tariffs, while Pakistan is swiftly emerging as America's preferred partner in the Indian subcontinent. As one Weibo post put it, “Trump's policy disguised favouritism towards Pakistan at India's expense.” Chinese views on this complex issue vary — from interpreting US moves as a classic divide-and-rule tactic exploiting China-Pakistan ties to seeing it as a humiliation for India. Yet many agree in China that this moment offers an opening for normalising ties between China and India.

King Hu is one of China's most influential filmmakers, famous for his historical martial arts films which helped to popularise the wuxia (‘martial chivalry') genre in the 1960s and 70s with classic films like 'Come Drink with Me' (1966), 'Dragon Inn' (1967), and 'A Touch of Zen' (1971) - the latter of which he received the Technical Grand Prize at the 1975 Cannes Film Festival. His work has inspired directors ranging from Tsui Hark to Ang Lee, Zhang Yimou to Quentin Tarantino, and since his death in 1997 at the age of 64, organisations like the King Hu Foundation have continued to promote and champion his work. As a result, much of his exquisite output is now readily available around the world in lovingly restored digital formats. To discuss the life and work of this extraordinary filmmaker, we welcome two King Hu Foundation board members: Michael Berry, Director of the Center for Chinese Studies at UCLA, who is also a Professor of Contemporary Chinese Cultural Studies; and the filmmaker, Céline Zen, a Chinese-born, France-based producer and director. We discuss the early life of the Beijing-born auteur who was forced into exile in Hong Kong after the Chinese Communist Revolution, and his journey from artist to actor, writer, and director, becoming one of the biggest talents at new Shaw Brothers production company before his relocation to Taiwan. We discuss the meaning of 'wuxia'; his influences - from his love of calligraphy to Ming dynasty history and the Chinese Opera - and how, despite his critical praise, his films were not always successful in their day, and the toll this took on his work in later life. She also talks about how Weibo functions as a social barometer reflecting the changing tides of Chinese nationalism, commercialism, social unrest, and anti-Western sentiment.
