The ashen face of Death turns his gaze upon our hero! In the last episode, Pwyll had gone hunting in the Woods of Glyn Cuch and had been beaten to the kill by a stranger pack comprising even stranger dogs. Having decided that the kill was rightfully his, he had driven off the other pack and set his own dogs upon the prey. It was at that moment that a stranger, the Shadowed Hunter, has appeared and was even now turning his dread gaze upon Pwyll. We'd also like to introduce our Special Surprise Guest Actor, Damh the Bard, who plays an important role in this show! The area of the Wales that Pwyll rules is called Dyfed, and at the estimated time of the writing of the First Branch (during the Medieval period). There is some debate as to the area of the original seven cantrefs, and Wiki provides us not only with a revised version but also names the seven areas. This is the area as it was known in the 7th Century and although the tales were not written down until the early medieval period, there is much evidence - linguistic and political - to suggest that the events recounted in the Mabingion, based on real events and/or mythology, took place at this time. We interview the Director of The Spirit of Albion movie In this show, we hope to bring you the second of our special features about the mythic film, The Spirit of Albion: the Movie and celebrate Beltane along the way! We meet Damh the Bard, who created the songs used in the films and Gary Andrews, the Director, Author and Editor for the film. We managed to meet them on a nice, quiet afternoon in the beautiful country pub, The Giant's Rest which is almost at the feet of the mighty giant known as The Long Man of Wilmington, a huge chalk figure that makes his acting debut in the film to have a fun chat about the film. The film will premiere a couple of days after this show is released and we'll all get our chance to see this long-awaited production! We play anything from original numbers about the ocean, love, heartache, or just plain good times, to the traditional folk tunes of the Celtic nations that focus primarily on the salt sea. I have such strong feelings about the earth and our environment that I am using one thing I know to help spread the word about our need to re-balance our connection to our planet earth. My hope is that hearing this music might inspire some people to become more active in healing ourselves and our planet. Earth Changes was years in the making. I have been singing about for our Mother Earth since the mid- eighties. After a decade of touring and performing, I have spent most of my last 10 years building and helping form a nature-based landed intentional community on 620 acres in Southern Ohio called Wisteria. Here, I have connected deeper to my family and the land. In the last few years as the consciousness about global warming has risen, I felt inspired to create music again. Recently, I finished my new CD entitled Earth Changes. I mainly want this music to inspire people. I am giving away songs (free downloads) and CDs to help raise awareness. Character actor Roger C. Carmel died twenty years ago today.  His career included roles as wide as the Batman tv series, Smokey the Bear, and "Senor Naugles" in a very popular series of commercials for the now-defunct Naugles restaurant chain.  But his most famous role was that of Harry Mudd in the original Star Trek.  The fall of 1986 was a pivotal time in the history of Star Trek.  The fourth film was due out soon and the series "Star Trek: the Next Generation" would be coming out a year later.  I talk about what Trek fandom was like in those days.Today's episode music is "Meandering in the Sun," by Seraphic Panoply.  Theme music is composed and performed by Marc Rose.
