North Carolina is undeniably home to the best traditional rock climbing in the South. From beginners' routes to multi-pitch thrillers, North Carolina has it all, including the tallest rock face on the East Coast. In this episode I sit down with one of Fox Mountin's Guides, Forrest Stavish. He started climbing in 2004 after being introduced to bouldering at Rumbling Bald, NC, and not long after that bouldering trip, he got his first taste of exposure on Table Rock in the Linville Gorge. Since then, Forrest has climbed extensively in North Carolina and Tennessee and has traveled to places like Red Rock and Joshua Tree as well as the alpine of the North Cascades. We'll cover all of this, plus Forrest's volunteer work with his local fire department for the past six years and his experience as a member of the Appalachian Mountain Rescue Team and Mountain Rescue Technician for NC Emergency Management. Regardless of whether you are a climber, interested in getting into climbing, or just love stories of how these mountains have shaped people and helped make them who they are, there is a little something for everyone in this episode.SHOW NOTES LINKSFox Mountain Guides & Climbing School; Facebook and WebsiteMcHone Personal TrainingNorth Carolina Emergency Management American Mountain Guides AssociationTransylvania County RescueHenderson County RescueBuncombe County RescueMental & Physical Benefits of ClimbingClimber NewsTime MagazineMike AndressHost, Exploration Local828-551-9065mike@explorationlocal.comPodcast WebsiteFacebookInstagram: explorationlocal
Welcome back to ParaPower Mapping. The Boston Brahmin Watch Bus is on the road again today—it's a surprise double header. Support the show & access the Premium Feed by subscribing: patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping ! We first unpack the mythic & historical antecedents of Bryan Johnson's alchemical vampirism & elite pursuit of the Elixir of Life, including an examination of the Rosicrucian Royal Society & Robert Boyle's involvement in the very first blood transfusions, the Epic of Gilgamesh, & examples from Ancient China, Hindu scriptures, etc.; from there, we discuss Richard & Isabella Ingalese, a husband-wife duo of New Thought gurus (as well as a corporate mining lawyer & psychic) who authored numerous Kybalion-esque self-help texts and then relocated to Southern California to attempt the Great Work, eventually attesting in an interview w/ the Occult Review that they'd succeeded in attaining the Red & White Stones of the Philosophers, also claiming that they personally knew alchemists living in SoCal that were 600, 400, & 200 years old; the Ingalese's pyramid scheme "Renewal Club"—which may have been a coven of alchemical vampires—that mirrors AMORC & future New Age-y California cults; we continue exploring Stavish's history of American alchemy, which serves as an introduction to AMORC & AMORC's non-accredited Rose + Croix University; we discuss founder H. Spencer Lewis's publicity stunt where he performed the "transmutation" of zinc into gold in front of an audience of AMORC grandmasters & newspaper journalists, which supposedly gave him 2nd & 3rd degree burns on his hands; we mention the California magus Frater Albertus, an AMORC lab alchemy graduate who would go on to proselytize the "life-enriching" aspects of alchemy, briefly playing a clip of a presentation he gave at UC Davis on alchemy at the exact same time that Timothy Leary was signing autographs in another hall on campus; from there, we transition to working our way through the first few chapters in Richard Spence's Secret Agent 666, investigating the evidence of Crowley's espionage work, his early recruitment through the Primrose League & a "gunners" cadet corps in Worcestershire, spying interpretations of his varied & globetrotting travels in the late 1890s & early 1900s, his involvement in securing oil in Mexico & initiation into a Mexican Scottish Rite Masonic order, the possibility that Crowley met Rasputin (and may have been in Russia at the same time as Gurdjieff), the likelihood that sexpionage & sexual blackmailing may have made up a significant part of Crowley's toolkit, the strong possibility that Crowley was assigned to infiltrate both the Golden Dawn & OTO to surveil enemy elements of the Crown & British Empire establishment in both orders, the fact that German agent Theodore Reuss was likely trying to turn Crowley by recruiting him into the OTO, the numerous intelligence officers that were members in Crowley's own order Astrum Argenteum, and finally, the cover & motives of Crowley's arrival in NYC aboard the Lusitania at the onset of World War I (a British armament or finance business deal, surveillance of German occultists, and the tracking of Irish republican Sir Roger Casement). Pt. I of II. The second is dropping momentarily. Songs: | Randy Newman - "Spies" | | Henry Mancini - "Peter Gunn Theme" OST |

One of most important but little known concepts of Western occultism is that of the egregore, an autonomous psychic entity created by a collective group mind. An egregore is sustained by belief, ritual, and sacrifice and relies upon the devotion of a group of people, from a small coven to an entire nation, for its existence. An egregore that receives enough sustenance can take on a life of its own, becoming an independent deity with powers its believers can use to further their own spiritual advancement and material desires. Presenting the first book devoted to the study of egregores, Mark Stavish examines the history of egregores from ancient times to present day, with detailed and documented examples, and explores how they are created, sustained, directed, and destroyed. He explains how egregores were well known in the classical period of ancient Greece and Rome, when they were consciously called into being to watch over city states. He explores the egregore concept as it was understood in various Western Mystery traditions, including the Corpus Hermeticum, and offers further examples from Tibetan Buddhism, Islam, modern esoteric orders such as the Order of the Golden Dawn and Rosicrucianism, the writings of H. P. Lovecraft and Kenneth Grant, and the followers of Julius Evola and Aleister Crowley. The author discusses how, even as the fundamental principles of the egregore were forgotten, egregores continue to be formed, sometimes by accident. Stavish provides instructions on how to identify egregores, free yourself from a parasitic and destructive collective entity, and destroy an egregore, should the need arise. Revealing how egregores form the foundation of nearly all human interactions, the author shows how egregores have moved into popular culture and media - underscoring the importance of intense selectivity in the information we accept and the ways we perceive the world and our place in it.

It's easy to get caught up in the hype surrounding digital pathology. But what is actually involved and going digital? What are the steps involved? We know about scanners and viewing images, of course. But what other pieces of software might be necessary or helpful? Coleman Stavish is co-founder and CTO at Proscia, a leading provider of digital and computational pathology solutions. At Proscia, Coleman works with a team of engineers and scientists who develop enterprise software in use at leading laboratories and large biopharma companies around the world, as well as novel image classification. We're going to be talking about workflows in digital pathology and the importance of the image management platform. What are the considerations in going digital, how can all of our software work together and how can we truly realize the promise of digital pathology by incorporating AI algorithms and other tools?

Mark Stavish, author of Egregores: The Occult Entities That Watch Over Human Destiny, is our guest in podcast episode 194. Mark Stavish, the Director of Studies for the Institute for Hermetic Studies and a life-long student of esotericism with over 35 years of experience in comparative religion, philosophy, psychology, and mysticism with emphasis on Western spiritual traditions. He has authored more than 26 books including The Path of Alchemy and Kabbalah for Health and Wellness. Stavish is also the author of the blog VOXHERMES at https://voxhermes.wordpress.com/. In this wide-ranging and extended interview, Mark Stavish and I discuss his recent book, Egregores, and a myriad of related subjects including eastern religion, the relationship between divinity, deity, and humanity, the modern political landscape and the interface with esoteric belief systems, and much more! “One of most important but little-known concepts of Western occultism is that of the egregore, an autonomous psychic entity created by a collective group mind. For all those interested in esotericism, I would consider it a must-read. I found it to be quite timely as well considering his approach juxtaposed with current events. While I did not agree with the premise completely in regards to whether deity is a subset of humanity, Stavish's book would certainly be a worthwhile addition to any occult library and as far as I know, it is the only serious treatment of the subject that I've read. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss it with Mr. Stavish at length during this interview. Just as an aside, it was not as easy as you might imagine to bring you this interview. We must have rescheduled more than half a dozen times for various reasons. Then on the day of the recording, my co-host Rudolf was unable to attend. Immediately after finishing the recording, my computer crashed. But we have persevered to provide you with an extended and quite excellent interview. Enjoy! The intro music is “Awakening” by Paul Avgerinos and the outro music is “I Watch Over You” by Federico Moscogiuri. In the Chamber of Reflection, we’ve begun our study circle around P.D. We talk about what an Egregore is, how they manifest, and they can influence our reality. We also look into the idea of Tulpas and how they are connected to the Egregore concept and how the power of positivity can influence magickal workings. On episode number 92 of the Metaphysical Connection, we host author Mark Stavish. Stavish has penned nearly 30 books on varied topics within the esoteric and paranormal realm. His latest book is Egregores : The Occult Entities that Watch Over Human Destiny. Egregores (Egg/ruh/gores) are autonomous psychic entities created by a collective group mind. An egregore can be formed by a small group, such a coven, or an entire nation vibrating at a synchronous frequency level. These entities can be created either consciously or unconsciously, take on physical form and exert an enormous degree of control over the human race. This is an important book because it explains, in accessible terms, the anomalous behavior that we witness in pop culture, media and politics. Egregores can be constructive or destructive depending on the intention that forms them. As the story of Pandora teaches us, once these supernatural forces are brought into the world, they may be difficult to get back into the box! http://metaphysicalpodcast.com/MC-092-egregores.html
