TJ gives a fantastic glimpse into the worries that fighters fight just before fighting (21:00 to 26:00). He also shares the reasons that he opened his own gym and how he's had to adjust his own competitive outlook with his kids and students. Oh, and of course the guys compare notes on COVID. ... The Spaniard has said to today's guest: ”I owe you my D-level fame.” That's because TJ Grant's getting sick helped lead to The Spaniard's storybook win against Rick Story. TJ grew up the scrappy youngest of five brothers in Canada and ultimately was scheduled to fight for the UFC lightweight championship. Ah, but things happen in life, and TJ speaks from experience when he says that any fight could be your last. You'll enjoy this discussion between friends, training partners, almost-opponents and dads of sassy daughters.
The latest UFC gossip in a busy week is one thing, but there is nothing like getting to know your favorite co-hosts, so spend some time getting to know Jay and Joe. Jay Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) gives some insight into his life as a kid athlete, and Joe Rizzo (@RearNakedChoke) gave some thoughts about his unique background. But it did not get in the way of talking about the world of MMA, from betting lines for the main event of UFC Fight Night 89 in Ottawa, Ontario, to actor Sam Heughan's tweet back to Rizzo (even though Kelly still does not know who he is). But one thing Kelly knows is MMA Reddit, and he explained why he likes it and a bit of how it works. The conversation twisted from Michael Bisping's trainer and recent RNC Radio guest Jason Parillo, to who the best athlete in the history of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia is (hint: Sidney Crosby vs. TJ Grant isn't much of a fight when it comes to this battle). There was even talk of the Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 in which the San Jose Sharks staved off elimination in beating Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins. For about the 10th time this year, RNC Radio is enjoying its best week ever, and would like to thank the growing audience for their support.

DONG HYUN KIM TO FACE TJ GRANT ON JULY 11TH Las Vegas NV (USA) -- A dislocated shoulder, suffered in training, has forced welterweight standout Jonathan Goulet to withdraw from his bout against Dong Hyun Kim on the preliminary card of UFC® 100 on July 11th. But Canada will still be represented in the bout, as Nova Scotia’s TJ Grant will step in to face Kim at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grant made quite an impression in his UFC debut in April, as he pounded out an impressive three round split decision win over seasoned competitor Ryo Chonan. Now 14-2 as a pro, the 25-year old Grant is eager to move further up the welterweight ranks by scoring a victory over the talented Kim. Dong Hyun Kim is a hero back home in his native South Korea, and the unbeaten (11-0-1, 1 NC) “Stun Gun” is rapidly building a United States fanbase as well after wins over Jason Tan and Matt Brown. A fourth degree black belt in judo, Kim hopes to keep the “0” at the end of his record on July 11th.
