In this episode of “In Stride,” Sinead is joined by international 5* event rider Buck Davidson. Buck Davidson is a very accomplished and recognizable figure in international eventing. A three-time winner of the Markham Trophy and the 1996 Young Rider of the Year, he has represented the U.S. at the highest levels, including the Pan American Games, World Equestrian Games, and numerous CCI5* events. Davidson claimed team gold and individual bronze at the 2011 Pan Ams with Absolute Liberty and has three USEF CCI5*-L National Championships to his name. In recent years, he has continued to produce top results, including second- and third-place finishes at the 2021 Virginia International Horse Trials CCI4*-L with Cooley Candyman and Sorocaima, and a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event with Carlevo. He runs BDJ Equestrian with his wife, Andrea, and is the father of two daughters. Most recently, he placed 13th at the 2025 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event riding Sorocaima. In this episode, Buck discusses topics related to the sport of eventing, including: • His perspective on how competitions could evolve to become more engaging for spectators while also promoting smarter, more selective riding. • The importance of a rider prioritizing their horse's well-being over competitive ambition. • The commitment, resilience, and mindset required to reach—and remain—at the top of the sport. • Striking a balance between trusting his own experience and staying open to continued learning and growth. Join Buck and Sinead in this exciting conversation on balancing elite performance with responsibility, growth, and the evolving future of the sport.

She just moved from the Harley-home-state of Milwaukee to the Phoenix facility a year ago but when she was in Milwaukee she also dedicated time to mentor young high-school girls in the Iron Angels team of the BUILD Moto team, where they literally build a motorcycle together and race it. Now while living on the West Coast, she's garnered a new-found love for road racing and rides everything from Ducati's to Pan-Ams. Her husband had a hand in the Harley-Davidson King of the Baggers series, so naturally, the household has a strong love for all things fast. Training in martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Judo, wrestling, & Muay Thai is my outlet for improving my mental health and becoming a better person. Shop our apparel line made for the Jiu-Jitsu athlete at https://jiujitsuoutlet.com/ On this 63rd episode of our podcast, I am excited to introduce you to a former Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt Pan Ams champion - Trent Mall. Trent is an entrepreneur, cannabis advocate, and the owner of the Laughing Dragon glass shop in Marshfield Missouri. Trent and the Laughing Dragon are also the first sponsors for the Jiu-Jitsu Outlet podcast! You can go here to learn more about their shop: http://www.laughingdragonsmokeshop.com/ In this episode, we discuss how Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu transformed Trent's mental state and how it helps him out every day in business. We discuss why it's important for anyone to experience training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to get a better understanding of who they really are. We also discuss why Trent is returning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training after a long hiatus and what got him to pull the trigger on returning to the mats. Want to roll with Trent and get to hang out in person? Hangout with us this weekend in Marshfield Missouri at the Jiu-Jitsu Outlet Jamboree. This event combines an outdoor Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament with live music, a community potluck, a cookout afterward, and a charity fundraiser - all to support the WC Partners... A local charity that helps people who have developmental disabilities. At the US OPEN: Clearwater, Rebecca Heller qualified Canada for a spot in the Pan Ams, and qualified herself to be nominated to the Canadian team! We discussed the regatta as well as her sailing journey. Starting the 49erFX to falling in love with foiling through sailing Waszps and now the iQFOiL windsurfer. We got into future plans, the Pan Am Games prep as well as her dream of sailing at the Olympics!
To say that Greg Souders is a huge believer in drilling and gamification is actually an understatement; he believes that BJJ training methods have not kept up with the science of learning, and runs Standard Jiu-Jitsu in Rockville, Maryland without teaching any techniques. And black belt medalist students at the Pan Ams and the World Championships suggest that he's onto something! I really enjoyed this conversation and did my best to ask the questions you'll be hearing in your own head as you listen to this! As always, if you enjoyed this episode I would REALLY appreciated a review and a rating on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listened to it! Cheers, Stephan Kesting
