I HAVE HAD A ROUGH WEEK INTERNALLY! I almost did not want to get on here and share. But I felt called to come on and be honest with where I am at. Do you relate to the work work work and then escape routine? It has been so apparent for me recently. Even though I am working on everything I love, I feel accomplished and then I want to tune out. Why? More will be revealed! But I am consciously waking up to the rigid masculine in me over and over. Trying to become more connected with my feminine aspects. Many people blame God for the bad things that happen, especially to good folks. Why? More than likely because He didn't stop or prevent it. But much of what happens, good and bad to all people, is based on the choices we make. We can trace this principle all the way back to the Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. In this teaching I also talk about the choices placed before Jesus in another garden - Gethsemane. I pray you are encouraged and blessed. Please share! Thanks!

Visit https://www.bodyshotperformance.com/podcasts-blog for the complete show notes of every podcast episode. Topics Discussed in this Episode: How Raoul started getting into marathons What made him take on this challenge Arranging the logistics to make the challenge a success The purpose behind his business Key Takeaways: You don’t need to rely on other people to push you to do things or to take control of things for you. If you set your mind on something and you know you can do it, there’s no question that you can achieve it. You can do more than you probably realize. If you put your mind to it, you can do it. Action Steps: Make a difference by challenging yourself to do something extraordinary. Raoul said: “With the right focus and attitude, if I push myself, I can do whatever I want. I just need to take control of my life as opposed to letting other people do it.” “The whole purpose behind my business was because I believe a lot of the marketing and sales training out there was not serving its purpose, which is to change behaviours and actually help people make money.” Thanks for listening! What is it like to participate in the world’s toughest ski race? Would you be up for the challenge? Listen in as I tell you all about it and take you through the journey! Who knows? The Arctic Circle Race just might be the next extreme adventure you’re looking for! Visit https://www.bodyshotperformance.com/podcasts-blog for the complete show notes of every podcast episode. Topics Discussed in this Episode: The Arctic Circle Race and why we did it How we prepared for the race My thoughts on the journey What the experience was like Key Takeaways: Both mental and physical endurance are very much needed to take on this kind of challenge. Incredibly powerful things happen when you push yourself into your discomfort zone. You don’t have to go as big as we’ve gone with The Arctic Circle Race, it might be learning an instrument, going online dating, learning a new language, or playing a sport. Taking on a challenge and achieving something is good for your confidence and your resilience. You get a bit more comfortable in very uncomfortable situations. You feel a little more comfortable with unpredictability, and life is unpredictable. A key part of resilience is not your toughness. It’s not what you can endure. It’s more around if you have the tools to cope with the various things that life throws at you and the emotional bandwidth to deal with them. Action Steps: If you are doing a fundraising event, set a really big target and don’t be afraid to ask people to support you. Do something that takes you into your discomfort zone. Have a think about what that thing might be and make sure it’s the appropriate level of challenge at the appropriate time. Leanne said: “[The Arctic Circle Race] is absolutely brutal. It’s the most extraordinary challenge. It’s more like the world’s toughest herring boning and walking race with bits of skiing.” “If you feel that life is pretty smooth and you want to test yourself in some way, then start to look at what you can do. Kick some ideas around.” Thanks for listening! Being a disciple of Jesus Christ does not happen on accident. It always happens on purpose. Let’s think through that together in the next 10 minutes on purpose. So, I did a thing. At least I started a thing. This is the launch of a weekly podcast called “10 Minutes On Purpose”. Why? More and more I find myself talking about being intentional with everything- especially walking with Jesus. I am a firm believer that disciples are grown…and that typically doesn’t happen on accident. Maybe this angle is on my heart because God knows I need this reminder as much as anyone. Likely. I wanted this weekly conversation starter to be short & accessible.Seems like 10 minutes could be worked in to time cooking a meal, part of a workout, a commute, or just while perusing the w w w. My prayer is that the topics will be helpful. I often talk with people who genuinely love Jesus and want to walk with him and help others do that to…but they just aren’t sure how. So there you go. I have pondered on how to best encourage, equip, and teach folks about being a disciple of Jesus. This is just another tool in the box. Sola de Gloria (to God be the glory)!

Shelly Brockman is a numbers person. She says she is just as happy with a calculator and a pencil as she is with a new pair of shoes. Along with her love of numbers, Shelly also has a deep enthusiasm for examining human behavior and figuring out what drives people. Shelly began working in the financial industry in Atlanta at the height of the 2002 stock market downturn. Then in 2008 when the housing market crashed along with the stock market Shelly witnessed first-hand how quickly someone’s life savings could be taken away from them through no fault of their own. It was in that time that Shelly had an epiphany. Were these people, who just lost all their hard earned money, really happy doing it or were they just doing it so they could retire? She realized that life was too short to settle and knew she wanted to make a change. Fast forward to Shelly’s daughters second birthday and she had left what she refers to as her “former life” in the financial industry behind to start The Moxie Project. The Moxie Project is a women’s small business and entrepreneurship training initiative with the mission to help women free themselves from the status quo and start living their life on their own terms. Shelly is so full of research based knowledge and real life experience helping women. We talked for so long that I felt it was best to split our conversation into two parts. Here are some of the things we discussed in Part 1 of our conversation:- How witnessing two major economic downturns while working in the financial industry influenced her to start The Moxie Project- The idea of making small changes in your life that when added up will have a big impact - The 3 fears that typically hold women back from pursuing their dreams - Getting clarity in your mind in order to make your ideas a reality - What traits and actions make the happiest and most successful people - Living with and moving through your FEAR - The importance of determining your WHY More about Shelly: The Moxie ProjectInstagram: @themoxieproject Books Shelly mentions:- The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell - 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

Some people are reluctant to lead. Why? More often it's because they feel unworthy to lead. There could be many other reasons, but often the main reason is more about who they think they are rather than who God is. When God calls us to lead, we should not focus on ourselves. Instead we should focus on Him. He knows what He is doing.

After being introduced to it by music mogul , I've been practicing for the past year. Why? More than on the TM technique have been published in over 160 scientific journals. These studies were conducted at many US and international universities and research centers, including Harvard Medical School, Stanford Medical School, Yale Medical School, and UCLA Medical School...and they have shown irrefutable evidence that TM reduces insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, blood pressure, cholesterol, congestive heart failure, atherosclerosis/stroke, free radicals, blood sugar, diabetes, pain, along with higher levels of brain functioning, longevity, sleep quality and much more. The guy who taught me everything I know about TM is named Philip Land. Philip has been practicing TM for the past 40 years. But he's no woo-woo, robe-clad, Eastern mysticist. I'd instead describe Philip as a bad-ass, hunting, redneck hippie family man. But he's taught TM all over the globe, worked with celebrities and high profile politicians, and also worked in medicine, computed tomography, radiation technology, craniosacral therapy, hunting instruction, shooting, wilderness survival, and much more. So he is one very interesting man. And during our discussion, you'll discover: -How Philip, a "redneck hunting instructor" got involved in TM... -A very easy-to-understand explanation of what TM is... -Why folks like Oprah Winfrey, Jerry Seinfeld, Katy Perry, and Russell Brand practice transcendental meditation (TM) daily... -Whether you need to be religious to practice TM... -What a TM mantra is... -How I used TM during the Spartan Agoge... -The surprising changes that occur in blood or bio markers in response to TM... -The brain wave pattern and EEG response to TM... -How TM can change sleep patterns and sleep cycles, and even allow you to get by on less sleep... -The difference between TM and "biohacks" like PEMF, transcutaneous stimulation, meditation apps, etc... -Whether you really have to do TM every day... -The best way to learn TM... -And much more! Resources from this episode: - - Do you have questions, comments or feedback for Phil or I about transcendental meditation or anything else we discuss in this episode?
